1.42 and new problem!

Ok, applied new beta bios 1.42. Everything seemed good until I rebooted. Now on warm boots the system cannot detect the RAID drives. Only on hard boot. HELP!?!?!?!?!?

What is your BIOS setting?
I'm at work right now. I'll upgrade to 1.42 tonight.
My BIOS setting are pretty much default(FSB 200). I did tried to OC the FSB to 205, 210, and 213. The same result on all setting.

T3i 'movie recording has automatically stopped' and other ongoing and 'new' problems.

I purchased a T3i in March of 2011 and within a year of purchase we started experiencing problems.
Firstly - I purchased a three year Mack Warranty with this camera.
By June of 2012, the 'movie recording has automatically stopped' problem was no longer our only issue. That month we lost a whole production day of video. There was no explanation. It was on the same card that we had used before and we sued it after. It was not a particularly hot shoot because we were inside and out frequently. All footage from that day was gone from the camera. I ran a recovery on the files; they were present, but they were unrecoverable. When this happened again a couple of weeks later, we threw away the card that it happened on and on the third event, We were using speed 10 cards only.
On August 31st, I sent our T3i in to Mack who looked at it, couldn't duplicate the problem (movie recording auto stopped, much less data loss) and they got it ready to send back. I spoke with Mack support and got a supervisor to look more closely with a technician at the problem (I had sent a very detailed description of the problem) based on my description and a technician paying attention, they were able to duplicate the problem but not fix it. They sent it to Canon. Canon duplicated the problem and 'fixed' it. It was then sent back to Mack because they won't send directly to Mack's customer. Mack sent it back. I received it sometime after October 23rd. Note - that's no camera from 8/31 to 10/23 + a couple of days shipping. Nearly two solid months.
'Movie recording automatically stopped' would not go away but we were not losing footage. I called Canon. Canon support told me that it could be a card speed issue and if not that, maybe a bad make or brand. They said that this is a problem with DSLR's or maybe rebels specifically and we would need to learn to deal with it - something about data capture and data block sizes. The problem is that when you're shooting a scene, it's not always just 'incidental' if you have to start over because of an error, is it? And is this how Canon's products are to work, really?
In December, a white dot appeared on our sensor. We sent it in on Jan 10 and got it back sometime after Jan. 31st. Movie Recording Automatically Stopped is still occurring. It comes and goes. :Lately it's been infrequent.
A little while ago I pulled the camera out to take some snapshots of a system I'm working on. No matter which mode, autofocus on, with the flash up, attempting to get an autofocus (depressing snapshot button 1/2 way) I get this strange electric sound and a flash. Autofocus will not engage. Again - no matter which mode - no autofocus, a strange electric sound and a flash. Movie recording works fine. But that's not the only capability of this camera, is it?
Canon - it is apparent to me that we got a lemon. This will not work for my business any longer. Trying to get problems solved with this camera has been lengthy, disconcerting, painful. My disappointment has me throwing in the towel and asking - why the heck would I buy a Canon again much less the Mack warranty to go with it?
Please give me a solution beyond going for another two months without a camera that comes back and develops a new problem within one to two months’ time.

This problem has been posted online in many places & is a known and serious flaw with the T3i. How come Canon feigns ignorance & blames it on the card or file size? Why don't they post a positive solution or at least admit to the camera's shortcomings?
The Canon tech rep is being disingenuous! The problem happens on and off to a lot of people using the same card!!! It has happened to me as well with me as well. Sometimes it records to the max limit & sometimes it just stops! Doesn't Canon do research into serious errors with their cameras?
I'm sure they know of this problem & don't want to recall & fix their sh..ty camera.

Recently I bought an Opteron 146 off ebay, as an upgrade to my existing A64 3200+. I have been running the 3200+ at 10x250 for about 1 year now with no crashes or problems whatsoever, but the idea of 1MB cache and maybe 2800MHz or more was too tempting to resist, so I went for the new Opteron.
I upgraded to Easybios 1.c3 to make sure the new CPU was properly supported.
But since installing the Opteron, I have had lots of problems. The CPU will boot and run at up to 2900MHz with an extra 10% voltage. But it is not Prime stable at that speed. At 2800MHz + 1.54v it will run 3dmark and SuperPI and things like that, but it just won't run Prime.
So I have tried to see at what speed it *will* Prime. I have dropped the FSB down and down and down and down.
Today I find it won't even run Prime at the stock 2,000MHz!!! Not even at 1.54v, let alone 1.4v stock.
So what's goiing on? Have I been sold a "duff" chip? Or maybe Easybios 1.c3 doesn't like my PQI Turbo TCCD ram? (That would seem strange. I ran a few loops of Memtest86 with my old CPU just after I upgraded the bios and all seemed fine up to 295MHz, which is as high as I ever went before.) Or maybe I have some other fault that's been hidden all along?
What do you guys suggest I do? I could flash back to an older bios version. Or I could swap the CPU out and put the old one back and do some more tests (BIG hassle as I will have to take the motherboard out again to do that!)
Any ideas / suggestions?

I tried lower the memory speed (133 divider) and it made no difference. I even tried dropping the multiplier down to 8x and ran 8x200 = 1600MHz, with a 133 memory bus (i.e. 1064MHz on the memory). Even at these abismal speeds, it would not pass Prime for more than a few minutes. I tried 1.4v all the way up to 1.55v and it still wasn't stable even at those speeds.
Anyway, after lots of messing around, I found the CPU has a problem with the particular version of Prime95 I was using. I downloaded the latest version and I can at least get it stable running now - albeit at pathetic speeds.
I can get 2300MHz stable at 1.5v. Pretty abismal for an Opteron 146. The crook who sold it me swore it would do 2800MHz at 1.5v stable - in a Neo2!!! I think he lied.
I will see how high I can get it at 1.55v, but I don't hold out any great hope - its not only P95 that wasn't stable before - it would crash windows occassionally anyway, so it clearly not a great chip.
Thanks to everyone. If anyone has got any bright ideas as to how to squeeze any more performance out of this piece of junk, I would be keen to hear it.
This chip cost me £140 on ebay, and I won't be able to sell it for much because I - unlike the person who sold it me - am not prepared to lie about its performance.
Since my old A64 would do around 2650MHz with a worse cooler than what I have now, I think my latest "upgrade" has been a downgrade :-(

Airport Update and New Problems

Every since I exposed my rock stable mac to the last airport update and system update, I have had some connectivity problems with my airport. I cannot get Back To My Mac to work. I can't print off of my USB connected to the airport. I went into Airport set up and the airport does not recognize the printer. I tried to get on my desktop mac in the other room, and can't log on. I can't see my wife's computer sitting across from me. Should I be looking at a different problem, or is this a up-date conundrum?

I'm still experiencing these problems with the 7.4.2 firmware upgrade. I think there may be a problem with the computer's Airport card, not with the base station. Perhaps the 7.4.2 firmware has nothing to do with it. Maybe it's a problem with an OS X update. Sometimes, inexplicably the internet will go offline for a few minutes. During this time not only my network (coming WiFi from my Airport Extreme Base Station) but also all of my neighbor's networks suddenly disappear. A few minutes later everything returns to normal. Also during this time my ISP remains online; there is no problem with the ISP. The MacBook is the only device that seems to "think" that all internet networks are down. Another big tip off is during this time the Airport utility fails to recognize my base station at all. It doesn't even see it... period. If this were an ISP problem the Base Station would still appear as visible to the AirPort Utility.

Need urgent help.....facing a weird and new problem in safari

guys, i have leopard installed on my macbook and my safari browser wont open orkut.com or any other service involving access through google account. But all these websites that is orkut and other ones can be opened in firefox which i have on my hdd. Whenever i try to open orkut or gmail in safari it says "you are not connected to internet" but simultaneously firefox is opening them and they are running good... I use a proxy server to access the net.. but i know its not a problem with the net.. it is the problem of the browser setting.. when i bought this macbook in canada it used to open orkut in safari.. dont know what happened to it here in india..
plz help me.. i need your help guys.. i tried everything i could.

Sorry to disappoint you, but it seems there is no solution yet. This is something thousands of people are experiencing with the Safari/Leopard combinations (as you can see on these and other boards), and it appears to be an Apple bug. I am having the same issue as you with certain web sites (i.e., can not load fully in Safari, but can in Firefox), but I can open orkut.com with Safari, for instance.

When i press command+I (Get Info) i see that there is 140 GB "Available Space" on my hard disk but when i click on my hard disk icon on the desktop, and then press "space" i only see 102 GB free!! What the f*???

Is anyone else having a problem with photoshop7 and new snow leopard operating system?

Recently purchased new imac with snow leopard operating system. Installed photoshop 7 successfully (it said anyway) but when I try to open get error message stating "an unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a program error. Photoshop will now exit." Help!

It is the standard at Apple... the latest build of the current OS is what goes on the new machines, and the Motherboards, Chipsets, & BIOS (not the right term for it with Mac, I know) are "hard written" to accept that OS as the absolute minimum, and nothing older (or lower as some call it).
So, since the latest machines are coming preloaded with Snow Leopard (10.6.2) that, and subsequent newer builds of OS 10.6 and up is all they can be loaded with.
This is nothing new. It's industry wide in both Mac and PC. Just try to put XP on a brand new Dell, HP, or Gateway PC. Without flashing the BIOS and taking a "more likely than not" chance of rendering most of your hardware undetectable, it just ain't gonna happen.
Conversely, just as Snow Leopard won't run on a PPC powered Mac, Vista and 7 may install, or appear to, on a single core, older PC, but the first time you install and try to open anything other than the OS itself, you're in for a world of problems.
People have tried to fight this for years. In 2005 Mac users went out of their minds when Apple dropped support for OS 9. A year later, it was Windows 98 users freaking out over their beloved OS being "sunsetted". I was skeptical of the move to Intel processors when I first heard about it, having become a full time Mac user, and being partial to AMD before that. But like Motorola PPC processors, AMDs run hot and heat is the enemy. The new machines run faster, cooler, and do more for less money.
It's a major pain for people who don't have the budget for a new Mac (or PC) and still have old software that is perfectly functional, but they are finding more and more incompatibility as they interact with other people and newer systems. Sooner or later though, technology wins and everyone has to either upgrade or drop out. Fighting it is futile. I will always remember the day last Summer when I stopped at a traffic light and next to me was an older, redneck looking fellow in a new brand spanking new Honda Accord. It may have even been a hybrid, I don't know, but duct taped on his dash was what had to be a thirty-five year-old 8-track player with a bunch of wires coming out of the back, also taped to the dash, and running to a pair of 6 x 9 speakers, which were just laying on the dash (no duct tape). I had to wonder why he bothered to buy the latest in automotive technology and yet he was stuck in a time warp for his stereo. Don't Hondas come with some pretty decent CD stereo units? And where can you find 8 track tapes anymore?

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

Which TV do you have.
You may wish to try the following:
Press and hold the menu and the up button simultaneously on the remote for six seconds, the Apple TV should then begin to cycle through the various resolutions available to it at 20 second intervals.. If you see a picture appear up on your screen, use the remote to scroll down to the OK option and select it.

I have a MAC running 10.6. I cant get firefox to connect to the internet unless I first open Safari and connect. Firefox works fine after that. This is a new problem on my machine How do I correct for this?

Same proble here, although the Firefox system requirements says it is OK to have PowerPC G3 G4 or G5 ( I have G5 2GHZ)

Bridge cs5 camera raw 6.5 to 6.5 and new bridge cs6 preview problem

Hi,
when i actualize camera raw from 6.5 to 6.6 the preview can`t give me right preview after 1 adjustment in camera raw.Image apears like when we open it in camera raw and it last few seconds with the yellow exclamation mark.
Months ago the only solution i found after several instals was to turn back to camera raw 6.5.
Now im trying beta bridge cs6 and problem come back for me again.
I use Nikon D3x with 14 bits ~49MB .nef files in Windows 7 64 bits.
Is any one have same problem?And why only in 6.6 (and new camera raw 7.0) and not in 6.5?

The Canon 6D id NOT supported by ACR 6.7.1. It was supported for the very first time in ACR 7.3 whch requires CS6 to run.
Therefore you will never be able to open raw CR2 files from the 6D directly in CS5.
If you do not plan on upgrading, you can download the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.3 (always use the latest version, it's not tied to your version of Photoshop at all), install it like any other application and then run it on each batch of CR2 files to convert them to raw DNG files that you can then open in your version of Photoshop and ACR.
