1 website won't open

Hello, when trying to access one specific website, I either get a Micorsoft VB script error (below), or the blue bar stops part way in and stays there. I used to be able to get to this site fine. All other sites work fine. My daughter and son can get to the site OK as well. Can anyone help? thanks much.

  • Embedded videos in many websites won't open.

I have found that the embedded videos on many but not all websites won't open now when I'm browsing in Firefox. I am running 27.0.1. I have Adobe Flash Player installed so that's not an issue. As some examples of non-openers: Embedded videos in some of the news articles on Yahoo!'s home page; videos on the davidlynchfoundation.org site. I tried disabling the "Adblock Edge" add-on, but it didn't change anything. In many cases, their is a big empty space in the text where the video should be, i.e. there isn't any indication that there's a video there. In other cases, I click on the visible start icon, but the screen of the vid just goes to black.
When I switched to Safari, all of these embedded videos opened without a hitch. I'd rather continue with Firefox, but will have to switch to Safari if we can come up with a "fix" for this problem.
I have a MacBook running Snow Leopard. This is a new problem which I haven't experienced with Firefox previously.
BTW: I have only minimal tech skills.
Thanks for any advice/help you can provide.
    Dave

    Hi Yogidave,
It sounds like the videos are not loading properly. If there are not video controls, but there is a space for the video, this means that the item is loading, but the player is not loading.
    In understanding what you tried:
I tried disabling the "Adblock Edge" add-on - it looks like this is no longer in the list of add ons that you have in the troubleshooting information, when you took this out, do the videos still leave space in the page where the video should be?
The examples you used: Yahoo homepage and the davidlynchfoundation: I know the latter uses an embedded youtube video with has its own video player that uses flash, as well at Yahoo. (I am not sure if all the videos are flash in Yahoo)
Since this is the case, can you please check your extensions to see if you have Flash installed or if you have it disabled? If so, please turn it on and visit the sites that are giving you issues to see if this resolves the problem.
This article has pretty simple instructions how to install the player if it is not there[[Install the Flash plugin to view videos, animations and games]]
The only other test I can suggest is to see if another type of embedded video does the same thing. For example, if you have netflix or hulu, see if those video players do the same thing.
I hope this helps. (also I tested those pages in beta and it loads just fine, you are not short of watching videos again in firefox)

  • Youtube website won't open.

    Hello,
I'm using macbook pro osx 10.8.2. all software updated. flash player uninstalled and re installed (50 times). I have another macbook air and iphone here using the same wifi where youtube works just fine. same exact problem with ethernet too.
To be clear, all websites are working fine Except youtube and 'youtube' videos on other sites (facebook) won't play. vimeo opens and plays just fine. Here's the rub, the network internet settings on both macbooks are identical.
I've tried extensions and 32bit and even running a tracerout. . . . it just keeps going.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    1 .  Enable Plug-ins
        Safari > Preferences > Security
        Web Content:
Click in the box for "Enable Plug-ins".
2 . Check  whether you are currently  in  YouTube HTML 5 trial.

At the bottom  left of the page  uncheck the box for
"You are currently in the HTML5 trial".

  • Website won't open on firefox but will with internet explorer

Firefox tells me that the Foxnews website page can't be found.
I can open it in with internet explorer.
Is this a political thing because it just started a few days ago and doesn't affect any other site?

  • PDFs on website won't open on mobile devices

We've a website currently in development mode which has PDFs for download. These open fine from a desktop, but on mobile devices we get "Error opening document, please try again".
The same PDF has been copied to another website and it does download to mobile devices successfully.
The links had "target = _blank" which I've since removed to see if the problem was caused by opening a new window. This made no difference. We have the same issue when opening the PDF by entering the full URL in the browser.
The only thing I have in [ISAPI_Rewrite] is "AddType application/pdf .pdf " to try and force it to download.
    Kind regards

When I try and open my CS6 programs from Adobe the popup to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime comes up. Yet when I click the 'more info' button like it states to do to open the download button the apple website page opens up but the page does not load (it stays completely blank apart from the website title present at the top of my browser). I recently installed Yosemite if that helps. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Sometimes when I open a link in a new tab and then switch to the tab, the address bar clears and the website won't open.

Sometimes when I open a link in a new tab and then switch to the tab, the address bar clears and I'll have to re open the tab and hope that doesn't happen again. Sometimes this happens again and again. Most of the times if I just open the link in a new tab and don't switch to it, this won't happen. But as I switch too the tab, the text would disappear and the link wouldn't open.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • One website won't open, help!

When I try to go to the Verizon homepage, it either will not load at all, or the sign-in module portion won't load. The error message is the sad piece of paper and it says: Google Chrome could not load the webpage because signin.verizon.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.
This is the only site that has issues. It was working fine two weeks ago. My internet (Time Warner) and router (Linksys) walked through various steps with me and say it is not them. When my computer is plugged in directly to internet, the page loads. When my computer is on my work wi-fi, it loads. It only doesn't load in my wi-fi at home. Was told it may be Firewall issues with my router (Linksys) but they did troubleshooting with me and said it must be my computer / the website. Please help! I've gone through the following steps based on other forum responses to similar questions and nothing has worked so far.
    1. Restarting computer
    2. Clearing cache, etc...
    3. Removing Verizon from keychain
    4. No Proxies are selected in "Network", Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains is: *.local, 169.254/16
    5. Added 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 to DNS Servers in "Network"
    6. Created "Test" under "Location"  in "Network"
    7. Parental controls are not on
    8. Used Terminal command: cat /etc/hosts
Response matched what was recommended that it should be:
    # Host Database
    # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
    # when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    255.255.255.255 broadcasthost
    ::1             localhost
    fe80::1%lo0 localhost

As a test try using another browser like Safari or Firefox.

PDF documents already on my MacBook Pro laptop open in Adobe Reader just fine. Rarely will someone attach a PDF to an email that I can open, view and save, but it has happened. I don't know why. I don't see anywhere in Firefox preferences to select a default application (Adobe Reader) to open PDFs. Mac OSX version 10.6.7

If that didn't help, try a reset ...
