10.5.5 makes xterm fg/bg colors reversed

I've had several command lines for starting xterms from the Applications menu in the X11 menu for years. On a MacBook and an iMac I had to reverse the colors for the -bg and -fg flags to get the xterms to look the same today (after 10.5.5) as they did yesterday (10.5.4). Anyone else seeing this?
yesterday: xterm -bg black -fg yellow... worked
today: xterm -bg yellow -fg black...
It seems to be the same with the 2.3.1 version of xquartz/X11 and the stock X11.

It don't have such problem on my Mac with 10.5.5.
I guess "reverse video" is turned on somewhere. Please try:
    (1) confirm that "xlogo -bg black -fg yellow" works as expected (black background and yellow X).
    (2) In the Prerefences of X11.app, select "Input" tab, and enable "emulate 3 button mouse".
    (3) In an xerm window, ctrl-option-click to pop up the "VT Options" menu, and see whether the "Enalbe Reverse Video" (the 3rd item) is checked or not. If it is checked, then uncheck it and see what happens.
If unchecking "Enalbe Reverse Video" works, then the next step is to figure out where this option is set, but I have no idea about this. I can be set by, for example, starting xterm with option -r (or -rv), or if you have an entry like
    XTerm*reverseVideo: true
    in your .Xdefaults.

  • When inserting a .pdf of a document with a standard white paper color the test and images show up, but the white background is transparent. How do you also make the white paper color show up?

When inserting a .pdf of a document into a Keynote template with a standard white paper color the text and images show up, but the white background is transparent. How do you also make the white paper color show up?

Use the color fill option - select the inserted .pdf and assign a fill color of white to it using the Color Fill Menu on the Toolbar or the Color Picker Palette.
    Good Luck.

If the grayscale looks ok on screen, you are probably not setting up your print correctly. What OS? What printer?

  • How do you make drawing markup fill colors transparent?

I'm working on a project where I'd like to identify locations on a map. I can use the polygon tool to make a red border around them, but I'd really like them to "pop" and would like to fill the polygons with transparent colors.
I know how to make them be solid colors, but I cannot get them to be transparent. I'm sure there's a way - but I just haven't been able to find it at any of the forums. I'm using Acrobat XI on a Mac running 10.6.
    Here's what I am seeing:
When I click on the grid below "Transparent" it removes the color. Seems to me there must be a way to make the solid colors transparent.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Oh! Ok - I thought that opacity slider only addressed the opacity of the border, not the fill. Thank you!!
What is the purpose of the grid shown under "Transparent"?

Hi, The options bar shows sample size 101 by 101 Average. That was my problem. When I was troubleshooting in order to try to explain to you what was happening, I noticed that when I sampled my models teeth, it gave me a color a bit lighter than her lipstick as my foreground color in my tool box. That started me thinking in the correct way. I didn't realize that my sample size had somehow gotten switched from point sample to 101 by 101 average. I appreciate the help. Thank you.

  • In Grapher, can I make a graph's color after edits?

I see how to color a graph – you click the equation, than click the "Inspector", then the color box, etc.  My problem is that when I edit the equation, it the corresponding line graph goes back to black. Is there a way to make the color stick to the equation, even when it's edited? I'm trying to experiment with different variations of a curve, so I keep tweaking the equation, and I want to see them in different colors.
    thanks,
    Rob

    Hi Robert
I know only one way to avoid going back to default settings of the Inspector when editing equations, that is to "Animate Parameter" as shown in the sceen copy.
No more then one animated parameter in an équation.
    So long,

  • Make Eyedropper Set Foreground Color not Background

How do you make color selections/sampling like with the Eyedropper set the Foreground color?
It was always that way before CS3 unless I accidentally changed a pref unknowingly.
Now when I select/sample color it sets the background color.
I looked, but couldn't find a pref setting for this.
    Thanks

  • How can I make xterm show Unicode chars other than Latin and lines?

I'm trying to get my terminal (xterm) to show more Unicode characters. The UTF-8 and Unicode FAQ for Unix/Linux suggests that xterm can display quite a wide set, but I'm not seeing that.
I have the locale resource set to true as suggested in the wiki (and I have used xrdb to load the new resources, but it was actually set already before I logged in).
I've also made sure to use a font that has those characters. Here you can see a screenshot of vim and gvim showing the same file with the same font.

It's most likely your selection of fonts doesn't include the glyphs.  For xft (TrueType) I use DejaVu Sans Mono to balance glyph coverage with legibility and I use WenQuanYi Bitmap Song for the double wide characters.
    xterm*faceName: DejaVu Sans Mono:style=Book:antialias=false
    xterm*faceNameDoublesize: WenQuanYi Bitmap Song
    xterm*faceSize: 8
! Fix for DJVSM low-hanging underscore, adds line spacing:
    xterm*scaleHeight: 1.01
The default XLFD font, aliased to "fixed", has very good glyph coverage.  You can probably switch to it with xterm's Ctrl-Right_Click menu: uncheck 'TrueType Fonts' and make sure Default is checked.  Or start a new xterm instance from the command line:
$ xterm -xrm "*renderFont: false" &
The default fonts for xterm are all XLFD.  You can view the system defaults in '/usr/share/X11/app-defaults/XTerm'.  The defaults may be overwritten by your user's X resources configuration.
Edit: fixed missing space in code.

  • How do I make B/W and color in one picture

Can anyone help me. How do I make a picture in B/W and with some objects in color

Add the Adjustment "Black & White".  From the Adjustment Brick's Action Menu, select "Brush Black & White Away".  Use the Brush to un-apply the Black & White adjustment from the objects you wish to have in color.
Checking "Detect Edges" on the Brush HUD is helpful.
    Your generalized workflow should be:
    . fully develop color photograph
    . apply B & W adjustment
. adjust B & W as needed to whole image (using the sliders)
. remove B & W from image selectively using Brush
    . tweak as needed.

  • How do I Make Baground One Solid Color?

I'm taking pictures of my daughter in front of a black sheet of fabric, but the final image does not show it as one solid sheet of black...because of the light, some parts of the background are lighter than others, and there are some wrinkles visible.
How do I use Photoshop Elements to make the background solid balck (or any other color I might want) without having to carefully trace around the outline of my daughters body, which is especially difficult around the hair.  Is there a way to do this so she does not end up looking superimposed?

Ususally there are several ways to do things in this program. I am providing you with details of my work flow. I selected a picture (actually a scan) with a complex background, ending up with the foreground and black background. The print screen also shows you the layer structure.
Open picture, duplicate background layer, shut off visibility of the background layer by clicking on its eye icon, and work on background copy layer. This way, if you want to start over again, you can delete the newly generated layers, and you are back to square one.
I accessed the magnetic lasso tool with feather=2px, anti alias checked, width=5 px, contrast=3%, frequency=57. I went around the 3 ladies, laying down anchor points. If you want to go back on the anchor points, do that by hitting the delete key on the keyboard.
(Some people like to use the lasso tool with the add selection box at the top highlighted, applying short intervals between mouse clicks.)
After the selection is made, go to Layer>new>layer via copy
Place a blank layer between background copy layer and layer 1, and fill this with black. Now you can see the selection well, and touch up a spot here and there with the eraser tool
Make layer 1 active, then CTRL+left click the layer thumbnail in this layer. You should see the "marching ants"
    Go to select>modify>contract 2 px
Go to select>inverse>hit delete on keyboard
    Go to select>inverse
    Go to select>deselect
Steps 7-10 are directed to getting rid of the fringe which you describe in your post, and the numbers can be tailored to suit.
    Hope that this helps you.
