10.5 "don't have enough access privs" after update

Everything has been peachy until I updated to iTunes 10.5 on my OSX 10.5.8. Now I get "you do not have enough access priveledges..." each time I open iTunes. Also, although I can access all my content yet, when I try to sync my iPhone, etc, it continually asks to authorize this computer but when I try it goes back to the permission problems.
I have used Disk Utility to repair permissions 3 times. I've restarted. I've done everything but nuke 10.5 and redownload. I'm worried about losing content. Any advice?

This is what I get when I try to authorize this computer:
"The required directory was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed."
This is getting extremely frustrating

  • I'm getting messages on my iMac telling me I don't have enough app memory after updating to Mavericks. This eventually freezes my computer.

I'm getting messages telling me I don't have enough application memory and I need to close my apps. I have 1 TB of memory installed and I'm only using 800,000 GB of memory leaving 900,000 GB free. Eventually this freezes my mac or makes it impossible to use. I've used Terminal to repair permissions. I've turned my iMac off and then on again. Nothing works for longer than a few minutes. The best fix seemed to be opening one app at a time. But even this failed after 10 minutes or so. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the maximum of 4 GB of RAM installed. I have 850 GB of hard drive space remaining. I've looked that the two articles noted in replies to my question. Perhaps it is an issue with not enough RAM as Mavericks is RAM intensive. That leaves only one option and that is to purchase a new desk top computer with more RAM, as minimizing the number of apps open doesn't always work. Any other suggestions?

  • HT1386 HELP!!! I cannot sync my iPhone to iTunes. The message says I don't have enough access privelages. And I cannot drag/drop any songs into my device. After updating, I have no music content on my phone. Please, can somebody tell me how to fix this?

Can someone please help me? I cannot sync my phone with iTunes after updating the software, & my phone has no music. The message window keeps saying I don't have enough access privelages. It also won't recognize my new subscription to iCoud when I turn on iMatch in Settings. I have tried everything I can think of & am ready to throw this thing out of the window in frustration.

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to move everything to your new computer.

If it is then go to the App Store and download iPhoto 9.5.  It will be free if you have an iPhoto 9 or later verson currently.

    Hey veo1,
I found the following information about that error message:
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.

  • HT1386 How do I sync my iphone when my computer keeps giving me a "you don't have enough access priviliges" message

How do I sync my iphone when keep getting a "you don't have enough access priviliges" message?

I don't know all the details but will ask some basic questions:
Did you download iTunes on your computer? You sync your phone to your computer by starting iTunes on your computer and connecting your phone.
Another tip is to use the View menu in iTunes on your computer to View Sidebar. Your phone should show up in the left sidebar of iTunes on your computer when connected to your computer. You select it there and then use the tabs to the right to select items to sync to your iPhone.
Sorry if these suggestions are too obvious.

  • ITunes telling me I don't have enough access privileges

My iPOD won't sync with my itunes library because it's saying I do not have enough access privileges for this operations.
I have admin privileges running XP and using iTunes 10.1.2.
    Any help would be appreciated...

I'm not sure what it means. I was just sitting here playing around on the internet, and I had iTunes running in the background and listening to music. So every now and then I go to iTunes to see what is playing or coming up next, and there is an alert there telling me that I don't have enough access privileges to save the music library. I didn't even try to save anything at all. I didn't do anything to it.

  • Error 5000 - it states that I don't have enough access privileges

I'm trying to download new songs that I purchased from the iTunes store, but I'm getting an error 5000 that states that I don't have enough access privileges. First time I get this error, I cannot download any music, anyone has any idea how to fix this. Is it a bug with the new iTunes version? By the way, my ITunes folder and all folder inside have Read & Write access.
