I moved home to a new address got told i had a 2.5 mb line to 3mb line from bt but this seems to have disappeared can anybody explain why this is and where it has gone.  I would be happy with 200 kbps download which is what the bt site claim i should recieve here

someone please help me i will also email a mod with this link

Just had my engineer visit and i must say wow he not only sorted my speed out but managed to get it from 1 mb to 3.5 mb what an improvement. I must say if it wasnt for the bt comunity forum i would have got nowhere u see i knew nothing about stats ect but i did a little research first to make sure i wasnt wasting an engineers time then when i phoned the helpline i sort of knew how to explain it better it took me 1 call to the helpline and they sent me an openreach engineer who spent over 4 hours here!! He also gave me a new filter faceplate which was great and entertained my daughter lol if i knew his work number or name i would seriously write a letter of thanks this guy was awesome. He improved my line auttention massively lets hope i have no probs over the next few days thanks guys at the forum with ur help i was able to diagnose the problem quickly and any ideas how i can get my ip profile up a bit would be greatful or is that about right for my connection.

  • 90 days are over and still unable to sync

I had an old itunes account with old style format for apple ID.  When I bought a new iPOD touch and tried to sync it to my library, it forced me to change apple ID to email based format.   It said I had to wait 90 days for my old library (on computer) to sync with my new iPOD touch.  90 days are over and my old library will still not sync.  Any suggestions

I think you may have some misunderstanding about the 90 days since I never heard of that except for:
iTunes Store: Associating a device or computer to your Apple ID
What happens when you try to sync?
Are you following the correct instructions?
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod.... and follow the instructions.
Is the iPod and iTunes sing into the updated account? You first have to sign out and sing back in.

  • Are my fan speed/temperature normal? Please answer quickly, warranty is expiring!

    I have an MSI GF4 TI4200-8X.
I had some problems with my computer, when playing certaing games it freezes after a while, with reboot needed. I think I got down to my graphics card overheating. While using 3D turbo experience, I found out my fan speed was about 2700-2900 RPM (I think it is the minimum!!!) and my temperatures where around 52-55 idle. Today I noticed my fan slowed down, and it wasn't even showing fan activity, I tried pushing the fan a bit and it stopped completely. It has restarted again, with fan speed around 1700, after leaving the computer running for a while it got back to 2700 with slight variations to 2600 +-. The temperature went up to 58º!!! But I think it's "stable" now at 53º. What I'd like to know is if these values are normal for my graphics card. I couldn't find much information about this in this forum, one or two messages mencioned fan speeds around 3900-4000. As my board is still covered by warranty I'd like to know if I have reasons to send it back. So.......do I?

    Quote
What does usually happen there when you have a graphics card under warranty, and it has a problem, you send it back right? And in the meanwhile? They give you a replacement until the other one comes back from repair (or even exchanged by a new one) ? I don't really know how these things work in these situations..
Like I said you will be without a card for a while. It could take weeks or posibly a month or more. It is not like a car. Contact the reseller to see if you still have a return possibilty with them, otherwise, you have to go to MSI for an RMA request.
An aftermarket cooler can be found at an online retailer or even at a Consumer Electronics SuperStore but I do not know what you have in your country. Thermaltake http://www.thermaltake.com/ has good products, perhaps you have a reseller in your area that sell their products.

  • My ten days are up and

Well now my ten days are up , the speed throughout hasn't altered much from what i have now , i must say since the email saying i should be getting 26.6 Mb/s , it'self a far cry from the ''up to 40'' contract i bought i too am dissapointed , i have a wired connection and mostly only use the one computer although i have a bluray player connected to my television , i'm about 800 yards from the cabinet and thought this would ensure a good speed .
     http://www.speedtest.net/result/1511868382.png
I'm in two minds as to whether or not to complain , after the appllingly slow AOL service i put up with for a long time this is much quicker but i have this feeling of being duped in to this 18 month contract , the sheer amount of grief some people have gone through on here to get any sort of satisfactory speed makes me think i should just put up with it , after all i'm not a heavy user .
I've done the BT speedtest and it's inline with this result and my ip profile says 14568Kbps so iguess that's it , it's not completely a waste of time though as i used the oppertunity of switching to bundle my phone calls and BB together , so what do you guys think ?
    Derek..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes Paul , i am on option 1 , i think i've now managed to copy the latest result for you all to see , i agree that i don't really think i'm getting what i am paying for but what to do ? and is there any realistic chance of getting better than this without being fobbed off ?
Of course i realised from the start that it was an ''up to 40GB service'' , but after getting it in an email from BT that i should be getting 26.6 i thought that would be fine but 14 is a big drop from 26.6 , although at the moment i can manage with the 14 ish i'm getting it doesn't seem like nearly enough compared to most people that i read about on here and certainly nowhere near what i was led to believe i would get .
So what's the best way of finding out if there's a problem ? , is this speed the 'norm' for option 1 ?
    Derek..

  • HT201317 Is there a way to get photos that are over 30 days old onto icloud (and then to my windows computer through photostream)?

I was wondering if there was a way to get the photos that are over 30 days old into my photostream on my computer. My iPhone 5 has 1,000 photos in the photostream but only the ones that are less than 30 days old go on to my computer. I can't find any setting on icloud either- just yes/no photostream and then my photostream and the share option. I want to do this so I can view my older photos on my computer so I can save them in my computer's library.
    Thanks!

No. PhotoStream only stores a maximum of 1000 photos for up to 30 days as stated in all descriptions of the service. You're supposed to download photos you want to keep within 30 days of them going to PhotoStream.
PhotoStream is not a permanent storage solution.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Connect it to the computer with a USB cable, open iPhoto, import your iPad photos.

  • What are various data speeds supposed to be?

I am doing my research now on the iPhone while awaiting the end of my Sprint contract. I currently on the slow Sprint data network using a Treo 650. All my bookmarks are to text based mobile sites: BBC, NYT, etc.
I was playing with an iPhone here in Phoenix yesterday & the full graphic sites like BBC World News displayed pretty slow on the Edge network.
What are the various "published" speeds supposed to be for the slower Sprint, ATT Edge & ATT 3G Networks? In "theory" how much faster is 3G over Edge?
    Thanks.

In theory EDGE has a maximum speed of 220 kbps, and 3G 1500 kbps as implemented by AT&T. In practice I get about 200 kbps and 1000 kbps respectively using the aircard on my laptop. So 3G would appear to be 5 times faster than EDGE. Some magazines have done real comparisons between the iPhone and a 3G PPC. The found much smaller differences, from sites that took about the same on both to a best case of the PPC being twice as fast as the iPhone. The reason is that a website requires many requests to the server, and each one requires the overhead of setting up and tearing down a connection. So this "latency" slows down the useful throughput. This would not be an issue for email or youtube, however.
On my laptop 3G is faster than EDGE for web browsing one page at a time, but not strikingly so. The difference is that I can launch a browser with multiple tabs loading simultaneously, and for that scenario (and for downloads) 3G is much faster.

Please BT what have I done to deserve being treated like this??? Should I change my ISP??? If that's the case just tell me and I promise I will get another ISP.

Well i was "upgraded" to adsl2 without my knowledge on the 28th Feb, and for one day it ran at 9 meg... then it went to 135kbps and no matter what i told them on the phone they refused to do anything about it until today... the engineer did all he was allowed to do and managed after a struggle to get the card flexed and my connection speed shot up to nearly 8 meg (should be much quicker as i was getting nearly that on standard adsl!!) but my download will not go higher than 655kpbs. After 5 hours i contacted them again and they tried apparently to reset the ras but still no luck.. so another engineer visit has been booked again for tomorrow when there is nothing he can do unless they would actually do a lift and shift as i told them 7 days ago!!! They refused the engineer today when he requested one as they could see nothing wrong.. i know there have been many faults the same in my local exchange but still they do not admit it and sort the issues out quicker..
And how do i know this.. i am an openreach employee working in the local area!!!
Bet i can't get them to just put me back on standard adsl!!

  • Promotions are over. What can I do to reduce the higher cost?

I'm a new customer to AT&T and love the service.  My area was basically a monopoly and couldn't wait to get a new service when AT&T became available.  As a new user my promotion was $117 a month.  I got U300 and 18mbps internet.   Now the promotions are over and my bill hiked up over $60 more a month.  I reduced the package down to U200.  There really isn't an internet option that will reduce my bill in any significant way.  Even at the lowest speed my bill is about $45 a month higher than in the promotion period.  Now my old carrier is offering more channels and double the internet speed for a little more than my promotional price but less than the retail i'm paying now.   And thats not even on a promotional basis with them.  Problem is I hate their service.  Has anyone had any luck getting a promotional price or around that price for the regular service?

There's a few different options. Play the retentions game every few months although some reports are that they're less likely nowadays to reduce price, but they'd much rather up your packages for no extra fees.
The other option, as said, is to reduce your internet speed. Unless you're into heavy gaming or internet video use (Skype, Periscope, etc.) the 12.0 should be good... true, it's advertised as that, but a lot of subscribers to that tier have been reporting closer to 15.0Mbps.
You can also reduce your TV package to U-200. A lot of movie channels go on "free preview weekend" during the weekend that a big-name series premiers a new season. Record what you want and then watch it after the free previews end. If you're into the series, call up the day before the series has its second episode and get one month of the movie pack for free. In addition, sites like freepreview.tv will promote free previews...duh.
When that free month ends, cancel the movie package subscription. The next week (or week after), call back for another go-round...if they won't give it to you, pay the rest of the season.
The Movie Package (includes all movie channels except for EPIX, HBO and Cinemax) seems to give out free previews fairly regularly. HBO/Cinemax are a bit stingy...usually one preview of three months per year, although you may be able to get around this by getting three months free and then upgrading from U-300 to U-450 free for free months.
For example: Say a new season premiers on Sunday the first on Starz. They should offer a free preview that weekend. Watch the first episode on the free preview. On Saturday the 7th of March, call up and get three months of the Movie Package for free. On June 6th, call up and cancel the Movie Package. On the 14th or 15th, call up and repeat it.
Another hint... do your research on what other companies in your area are offering you to switch to their service. When you reach the retentions office, quote those offers.
If you do your work, they'll usually give you a deal...but you gotta work at it.
Remember to be nice when you're on the phone with them...it goes a long way.

  • Average Speed of Answer Chart

We have CUIC 8.5 (2).  I have a customer that would like to view a real-time display that shows the average speed of answer throughout the day.  They would like it to be a running total.  So by 4:00pm, they would like to know what the average speed of answer has been so far today.  I know that the Call Type Real Time Display has the fields Answer Wait Time Today and Calls Answered Today.  The Answer Wait Time is in seconds though.  So, any idea how to change this into a chart to give them the information they are looking for?  Thank you!

    Mike,
The caller is still considered "queued" for the duration. The CVP app that does the callback is run as a non-interruptable script, and keeps the ICM call active until the decision is made to call back the caller. ICM does not see this as any different from a regular queued call.

  • What is the average speed for the fans? Mine seem really slow.

What is the average speed for the fans in a MacBook Pro? When my computer is fairly idle, like right now, the fans are at roughly 1000 rpm each. Is that normal? I have seen posts where the fans are 2500-5000 rpm, so mine seem a bit low. That may explain why my computer has been getting hotter more quickly lately - this started happening after Apple replaced my logic board a few days ago.

I installed smcFanControl2 and according to that program, Apple's defaults are 2,000RPMs and the program will not let you set it any lower than that because of the increased risk of damage.
My fans are always at 2,000RPMs during normal usage, and then once I fire up a DVD or Photoshop it usually goes up to the 3,000s or so.

  • Time Capsule 1TB Will this unit still be compatible with Lion OSX ,As I have not switched yet until other programs I have installed on my mac are up to speed

I have had my eye on one of these for quite some time in the past and up until just very recently have puchased a 1TB Time Capsule at rather quite a reasonable price or so I had thought compared to what they had been priced at originally in the past which I had thought to be a bit over the top as is with most of apple's products or should I more say marketing tactic's,
Anyway I was just wanting to know in general is this unit already so to speak on it's way out or becoming obsolete in comparison to the 2TB's and 3TBs Time Capsules ,
Not the implicating the obvious being storage in differences but more so the compatibility issue side of things,
In short will this unit still work with OSX Lion for example, or is it only limited to Leopard and Snowleopard,
The place I had purchased this unit from are more or less in the dark themselves and although more than helpful are more a musical instrument outlet than a computer store as the decision was my choice alone in which I need not to be convinced,
Although I have purchased this item I am yet to recieve as this unit was the one of the last in the country and is to be shipped in from out of town,
But has given me time to think of such in the process during as this unit is no longer advertised amongst it bigger companions,
I use my mac or mac's mainly for composing music with such software as Pro Tools 8 soon to be 9 and also Live 8 Studio as I don't plan to plan to change over to Lion OSX until these programs are up to speed and speaking the same language,

    Yes, it's compatible with Lion.

  • Lion Recovery (Command R- reinstall Lion) Says 148 hours after being on for one day and over night

I accidently deleted some file on my computer that wouldn't let me start up my MacBook pro, 13 Inch, so I had to press Command- R at start up (brought me to Lion Recovery) and I choose reinstall lion and I started it yesterday morning and all day and over night. It's barely half way through and it says "148 Hours Left" which is crazy.. Should I just wait? is this normal? what do I do? Pleasee help someone!

It seems Apple is having problems with there servers or you have a Very Slow Internet connection. Best is to let it run as you can't use the computer anyway without the files you deleted.
There are reports of other that can not even get to the Lion download or any downloads for updates and such.

  • I have a macbook pro can can log into a server, but my new iMac with lion can't even see the server--both are over wifi- how do i get the new iMac to see the server?

Without knowing what you have tried please open System Preferences - Sharing - File Sharing and select File Sharing. If you still have trouble you can call AppleCare in the morning when they re-open. You have 90 days of telephone support if you haven't already bought AppleCare.

  • Page Area over flow problem

    Hi,
When I am executing The Bapi in Ecc6.0 its goes to Short dump.
Short Dump error is:page area over flow in abap/4 memory.
This is very Urgent please suggest me how to overcome this short dump.
    regards,
    babu

    hi
    https://forums.sdn.sap.com
    abapcode.blogspot.com
ABAP/4 programs can take a very long time to execute, and can make other processes have to wait before executing. Here are some tips to speed up your programs and reduce the load your programs put on the system:
Use the GET RUN TIME command to help evaluate performance. It's hard to know whether that optimization technique REALLY helps unless you test it out. Using this tool can help you know what is effective, under what kinds of conditions. The GET RUN TIME has problems under multiple CPUs, so you should use it to test small pieces of your program, rather than the whole program.
Generally, try to reduce I/O first, then memory, then CPU activity. I/O operations that read/write to hard disk are always the most expensive operations. Memory, if not controlled, may have to be written to swap space on the hard disk, which therefore increases your I/O read/writes to disk. CPU activity can be reduced by careful program design, and by using commands such as SUM (SQL) and COLLECT (ABAP/4).
Avoid 'SELECT *', especially in tables that have a lot of fields. Use SELECT A B C INTO instead, so that fields are only read if they are used. This can make a very big difference.
Field-groups can be useful for multi-level sorting and displaying. However, they write their data to the system's paging space, rather than to memory (internal tables use memory). For this reason, field-groups are only appropriate for processing large lists (e.g. over 50,000 records). If you have large lists, you should work with the systems administrator to decide the maximum amount of RAM your program should use, and from that, calculate how much space your lists will use. Then you can decide whether to write the data to memory or swap space. See the Fieldgroups ABAP example.
Use as many table keys as possible in the WHERE part of your select statements.
Whenever possible, design the program to access a relatively constant number of records (for instance, if you only access the transactions for one month, then there probably will be a reasonable range, like 1200-1800, for the number of transactions inputted within that month). Then use a SELECT A B C INTO TABLE ITAB statement.
Get a good idea of how many records you will be accessing. Log into your productive system, and use SE80 -> Dictionary Objects (press Edit), enter the table name you want to see, and press Display. Go To Utilities -> Table Contents to query the table contents and see the number of records. This is extremely useful in optimizing a program's memory allocation.
Try to make the user interface such that the program gradually unfolds more information to the user, rather than giving a huge list of information all at once to the user.
Declare your internal tables using OCCURS NUM_RECS, where NUM_RECS is the number of records you expect to be accessing. If the number of records exceeds NUM_RECS, the data will be kept in swap space (not memory).
Use SELECT A B C INTO TABLE ITAB whenever possible. This will read all of the records into the itab in one operation, rather than repeated operations that result from a SELECT A B C INTO ITAB... ENDSELECT statement. Make sure that ITAB is declared with OCCURS NUM_RECS, where NUM_RECS is the number of records you expect to access.
If the number of records you are reading is constantly growing, you may be able to break it into chunks of relatively constant size. For instance, if you have to read all records from 1991 to present, you can break it into quarters, and read all records one quarter at a time. This will reduce I/O operations. Test extensively with GET RUN TIME when using this method.
Know how to use the 'collect' command. It can be very efficient.
Use the SELECT SINGLE command whenever possible.
Many tables contain totals fields (such as monthly expense totals). Use these avoid wasting resources by calculating a total that has already been calculated and stored.
verify if it can give an idea to the question.
