$100 Credit from original iPhone

I was one of those who bought the original iPhone right when it was released and received the $100 credit when they dropped the price a few months later. I applied for the credit within the time frame given, but now that I want to redeem it I cannot find anyplace to access the credit. I remember printing something out, but that was like 18 months ago... surely that piece of paper can't be the only way to redeem the credit, can it?

+iTunes will also create a backup of settings and certain other information on your iPhone or iPod touch when you sync to use in case you want to restore the software on your iPhone or iPod touch or transfer this information to a different device. *Backup information includes information such as mail settings, text messages, notes, call history, contact favorites, sound settings, widget settings, certain network settings, and other preferences.* Applications purchased from the App Store are included in the backup, however they can only be successfully restored to the same device that they were backed up from.+
Contact information and calendar events are not included. I would think contact information would be included with this link since this is important and if included, this is not something you should depend on.

It's quite unusual to find a TV that has a genuine network file server access mode (yours might, though: what model is it?), so the chances are that you have been using twonky DLNA up to now... I'd suggest looking to see if your TV has upgraded its firmware. As for the solution, you might check the 'Navigation Type' selected for your TV under Sharing|Media Receivers on the twonky UI pagepage; this determines the 'views' that are presented to DLNA clients. One of which is 'By Folder'. If you haven't already seen it, this FAQ might help: http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-My-Cloud/FAQ-Twonky-DLNA-Media-Server-Setup-amp-Use/td-p/858810

  • Upgrade from Original iPhone

I have an original iPhone and it says on AT&T that I can get a discounted upgrade. Does anyone know how much this would be?
Also do you know if any AT&T dealers still have an 8G White iPhone for Sale?

"Requires new two-year AT&T wireless service contract, sold separately to qualified customers; credit check required; must be 18 or older. Existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G should check with AT&T or use www.apple.com/iphone/buy to find out if they are eligible for early upgrade pricing: $299 (8GB), $399 (16GB), or $499 (32GB) with a new two-year contract. For those who are not eligible for an early upgrade or who wish to buy iPhone as a gift, the prices are $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB). In CA, MA, and RI, sales tax is collected on the unbundled price of iPhone."

  • Best way to upgrade from original iPhone to 3Gs?

I've got an original iPhone that's having some problems which may make me get a 3Gs.
I'm looking for suggestions, tips, advice on things to consider when making the switch. Will the iTunes backup be sufficient to keep all my data, apps, contacts, calendars and everything else?
    Any input is appreciated.

Couple things I'd add to what's already posted...
    1) Over the several upgrades I've done from 2G to 3G to 3GS for some reason I've found that not upgrading from a back up seems to give me a better end result...obviously the choice is yours...but if you have synced all data like calendars contacts email etc with a MAC or PC that will just be transferred back during your first sync then no harm in starting fresh with a clean copy of the 3.1.2 OS and then adding all data on...
    2) When you upgrade, make sure you're using the very latest versions of iTunes...then make sure that ALL apps are up to date on BOTH iTunes AND iPhone BEFORE you sync for first time...for some reason I've found folks, myself included having issues with authorization and apps not transferring and most times it was due to the entire app library not being up to date on both sides before the upgrade...

  • HELP! Saving text message from original iphone

I've got the original iphone and I need to know how to save several pages of text for a court hearing. I have tried several suggestions on here to save messages but none are working. I have tried taking a screen shot by holding down the home and power button at the same time, my version of iphone does not allow forwarding messages, so I can't sent it to an email address to print out later. I understand that there are applications that one can purchase, but I'm wondering if they are configured for the original iphone... can anyone help me?

You can do your backup either to iTunes or to iCloud, which ever way you have been doing them in the past. This support document might make it easier for you to chose if you haven't been backing up in the past. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5262 Make sure for safety sake that you import the pictures from your camera roll and that you sync contacts and calendar data to a supported application on the computer. Then follow the information in this support document for putting data from old device onto the new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109

  • Transferring Photos from Original iPhone to 3G S

How would I go about doing this? I have some photos on my original iPhone that I would like to use as wallpapers on my 3G S.
    Thanks for the help.

You would need to sync the photos with iTunes. You'd first need to import the pictures from the original iPhone into iPhoto (or whatever other application you're using to work with photos). You'd use iTunes to do this. If the pictures aren't in your Camera Roll, you could open them in your Photos application, then create a screen capture of each one (holding Sleep/Wake button plus Home button). That would put the screen captures in the Camera Roll from which they could be imported.
Then you'd need to use iTunes to sync the pictures to your 3G S.
This points out the utility of ALWAYS backing up your iPhone photos on your Mac or PC in the first place.

  • Activating Tomorrow From Original iPhone

The iPhone 3GS I ordered from the Apple Store is due to be delivered to my work tomorrow. I currently have an original iPhone that I sync on my home computer. My original plan was to play it safe and just wait until I get home from work tomorrow to activate my new phone through iTunes from my home computer after doing one final sync from my original iPhone. But now I'm wondering if I can just do a final backup of my original iPhone on my laptop, and then activate the new phone from the same laptop when my phone is delivered tomorrow at work.
Does the backup actually have all the data needed to transfer information from my current phone to the new one(except for music and video files), or should I really wait to activate my new phone from the computer I've been syncing from? I'm mainly concerned with my contacts, calendar info, and notes.

That surprises me, if you ordered from Apple.
Anyway, I've seldom found anyone at AT&T who had a clue about the iPhone
When going from 2G to 3G last summer this is what Apple posted in the knowledge base:

Only mention of a call to carrier (e.g., AT&T) is if you are changing carriers.

  • Upgrading from Origina iPhone to iPhone 3G

So as my title states I'm thinking of upgrading, I've had my OG iPhone for quite a while and after playing with a buddy's 3G phone I think I'm hooked. I'm just wondering if it is as simple as buying the phone and plugging into iTunes or what. Also I'm wondering if theres a required change in phone plans. Any help is appreciated, maybe this is easier than I am making it out to be.
    Thanks in advance,
    Anthony

the best thing about upgrading is if you ever crack your screen it's ALOT cheaper to fix! my husband cracked the screen on the original iPhone. the only problem was that the LCD and the Lens are connected so you have to replace both. However, on the 3G iPhone, the Lens and LCD are separate. So if you crack your screen, all you have to do is replace the Lens instead of both parts (LCD's are alot more expensive!). When I cracked my screen on the 3G iPhone, i mailed it in to a repair center called Dr. Cell Phone. they fixed it for $99 and sent it back to me on the same day. good service. here's their website just in case any of you already have that problem (hopefully not!): www.drcellphone.com

  • Upgrading from Original iPhone to iPhone 3GS help!

Okay, I just read an article stating that it will cost a fat wallet to upgrade from the 3G to the 3GS, because of the whole contract early/late upgrade thing whatever. I still have the normal iPhone and I didn't upgraded to the new 3G. My contract has long been done and fulfilled. Do I have to pay the same crazy amount as 3G users to upgrade or will I have the benefit of buying it with the original $199/$299 price?

    Hey Leprechaun251,
I think you may have some luck here. As you said, you have already completed your 2-year contract, right?
If so, then I think you can enjoy that subsidized price by opening a new two-year AT&T wireless service contract.
Still, I think you should contact AT&T to clear this ideas. Hope this helps!

  • Erase all data from original iPhone

I've upgraded to the iPhone 3G and am in the process of selling the 1st generation. My cell service has been transferred to the new phone - the sim card that came with the 3G is now in the original phone. I want to be sure to all my data is erased. Since it's not an active phone, how do I do that? Can I take the sim from the 3G, install in the original and then erase all data?

If you are selling your 2G iphone, I may be interested. I just broke the screen of mine and found out that replacing it cost almost as much as a 3G. I don't want a 3G as AT&T charges more per month would also charge for texting. Thanks! You can contact me at [email protected]

I agree..I'm not going to get ahead of myself and plan out what I want to buy before anything is really gone into detail. But I do say if it's just for the Apple online store (not iTunes store) then that Apple protection plan for the iPhone that I haven't got yet looks pretty nice. But if it's for iTunes as well then I'm getting $100 worth of 24 season 6, ringtones, and songs.

  • Upgrading from original iPhone

In July I am getting iPhone4, is it possible to transfer contacts, texts, bookmarks, game data etc from iPhone1 to iPhone4?
If not is their a work around?
    Thanks!

Ok, I read that they had to have the same OS and as iPhone one can't have iOS4 I wanted to make sure that that is possible.

  • Sync from original iPhone to new one.

I dropped and shattered screen on three week old iPhone. XP user needs to know how to transfer contacts, and calendar entries onto new phone.

As long as the information is all correct on your computer, it will transfer over when you first sync the iphone.
If the information is on the old iphone and it does not work, you may have more of an issue.
You can also always force a "restore" of the iphone contacts.
In Itunes, go to your iphone, then the Info tab. At the bottom, select the checkbox for "Contacts" under "Replace Information on this Phone." I believe there is an option for the calendar as well.
