10g (10.2.0.2) driver XA Connection Cache / xa connection pooling

According to this table: http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/java.102/b14355/overvw.htm#BABEAJHG, the XA Connection Cache was implemented in the 10.2 driver. However, I can't seem to get this to work. I noticed another user posted regarding this exact same problem about a month ago. Has anyone had any luck with this? Once I enable caching, I always get this exception:
SQLException: Can not use getXAConnection() when connection caching is enabled.
My code follows the code found here: http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/java.102/b14355/concache.htm#CACDBBJI. Basically:
OracleXADataSource ods = new OracleXADataSource();
ods.setConnectionCachingEnabled(true);
ods.setConnectionCacheProperties(properties);
ods.getXAConnection(); // <---- throws exception

I would try connecting using an Oracle 8i client. Using a 10g client to connect to an 8i database is asking for trouble.
For example, someone in the following link got the same error as you, apparently through using an unsupported version of TOAD. It doesn't prove that your error is also due to an incompatible client, but I would start there. If you still get the same error when using an 8i client, we can look at other possibilities.

  • Connection Caching and Connection pooling

    Hi,
I have question its about a concept which has been introduced by oracle called as connection caching (not sure if its a accepted in other app servers). I had a look at it and it is similar to wht a connection pool does. So can anyone out there explain me wht is the actual difference between these ?
    Thanks!

i would ignore the idea all together, unlessyour
connection has state or something, here readthis:

is meaningless. It certainly isn't clear to me why
you think that link is relevant.if you had read the first 2 lines from the page..I read the entire link.

after some sorting out your article, I clicked on a question mark with the message find the missing folder.  This brought me to a page where I could choose a folder by year and click on it.  The question marks disappeared and the photos were available.  In some cases I had to click on the year folder for each subfolder by date.
The find missing folders message did not bring me to the finder window in which I could click on folders in the hard drive itself.  I appreciate your help big time!!

  • Does an external hard drive ALWAYS need to be connected to my mbp with retina display for Time Machine?

Does an external hard drive ALWAYS need to be connected to my mbp (OS 10.10.1) with retina display for Time Machine? Or can it be connected once a week or whenever I want? I used to have an external drive always connected to my previous mbp, but it made moving my mbp around a bit of a hassle with it connected...

When the backup drive is not connected, some of the free space on the internal drive will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. Local snapshots will protect you from unintended file deletions, but not from a drive failure. You should only go as long between backups as you're willing to lose data. If losing a week's worth of work is acceptable to you, then that backup frequency is OK. Otherwise, it isn't.

  • Hard drive gets error -50 when connected internally, but not in USB enclosure.

I have a SATA hard drive that works perfectly when connected through an external USB enclosure but whenever it's plugged into the internal SATA connector on my MacBook Pro I receive the error message "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)." any time I attempt to move or copy a file to it.
This doesn't happen with any other hard drive I connect internally, so I don't believe it's an issue with the internal cable.
I have made sure all permissions are set to allow reading and writing to the drive as well as selecting the "Ignore ownership on this volume" option in the Get Info panel.

If I were you, I would just replace the drive. Since other drives work, you're probably right in assuming that it's not a SATA cable issue, but rather an issue with that specific drive.

  • What driver do I need to connect to Brother MFC-9325CW

what driver do I need to connect t0 Brother MFC-9325CW?

I believe the Brother drivers are included in the OS installation. Try installing the printer. As you go through the process the Mac will tell you if it discovers the printer. That tells you do not need a driver.
If this is a new printer being connected for the first time, I personally prefer to connect with a USB cable and complete the first steps. Wireless printer connections are much more work, and can be done after you have a functioning printer.

  • Backing up external drives that aren't always connected?

I've got external hard drives for each of my clients. I'll connect them to my machine for a few days, then remove them and it might be months before they're connected again.
Will TM backup these externals (assuming I don't exclude them) and then keep that backup even if they're not connected for a long time? Or will it delete that backup after a period of time if the drive hasn't been reconnected?
    Thanks!

TM only keeps hourly backups for 24 hours and daily backups for 30 days. Beyond that, TM keeps a weekly snapshot for as far back as you have disk space available. So depending on when you have the external drive connected, you could get no backup if connected less than 1 hour; a backup for no more than 24 hours if the external is not connected for the first backup of the day (between midnight and 1 AM); or a backup for no more than 30 days if the external is not connected for the first backup (between midnight and 1 AM) of the seventh day. Put another way, to guarantee a weekly backup, an external drive would have to be connected for a full seven (24 hour) days.
There may be further complications. TM needs to recognize a reconnected external drive as the same unit that was previously backed up or it is going to rebackup the entire external drive. This will very rapidly eat up your available TM backup disk space. I had two same model external drives that are only occasionally connected. I found that, for reasons I could not figure out, one of these was recognized by TM as having been previously backed up; the other was not.
Since I use these externals to store video files that change very infrequently, I gave up using TM to back them up and repartitioned my backup disk to have separate partitions for each external with the remainder for TM. I back up the externals with SuperDuper! as necessary and let TM backup just my internal drive. I don't think this will work for you since it seems you are dealing with many different client drives.

  • Hard Drive Not Mounting, but showing connected in Disk Utility

I accidentally locked myself out of my external hard drive. • Cloud drive doesn't recognize internet connection

I recently had some work done on my laptop (runs  Windows  7) and used to have Cloud Drive on my computer but it was deleted.  I tried to reinstall it and now I get this error message:  "You need an internet connection to set up HP Cloud Drive.  Please check your connection and try again."  I have an internet connection which is up to date and also runs Java's latest version.  I don't know what to do.  Help!

    Hi 4ducks,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that you are getting an error message when trying to reinstall the HP Cloud Drive.
I have included the Setting up the HP Cloud Drive document.  If this is the document you were following when you were trying to reinstall, would you please let me know at what step you were getting the error message?  If you weren’t following this document, please try reinstalling following the instructions in the document.
If you run into any further issues, please let me know at what step things went askew and what, if any, error messages said.
    Thank you.

  • Shared drives now just stuck on "Connecting"... after ML install!

Since upgrade to Mountain Lion, everything went well except now I can not connect to any shared drives on my network.  This includes my time capsule, a shared hard drive, etc.  They just get stuck on "Connecting..." and never give an error...
Anyone else have this issue?  I definitely need the ability to get to these drives again for files and also backup.
Network is fine, all drives are operating fine and connectable by other drives, just not this Mac with ML on it now.
    Thanks!

To clarify, "Connect As" also does nothing...

  • Drives and printers can be connected manually when needed logon script is aborted

    Hi All,
Could anyone help me with the issue "the computer is not in the location network (Domain) drives and printers can be connected manually when needed logon script is aborted"
    Thanks
    Atul Srivastava

    Hi Atul,
    >>the computer is not in the location network (Domain) drives and printers can be connected manually when needed logon script is aborted
How did this happen? Did you use logon script to map drives or printers to users? If yes, did the computer have network connection to the domain controllers? You can ping the IP addresses of your domain controllers to check network connectivity.
Besides, you can check event logs in Event Viewer to see if some related events were logged.

  • There is  a JDBC Driver that allow me to Connect db2/as400

    Hi!
I have an Oracle application and now I need to access some data in DB2/400 from this application. My first Idea was to use Java with JDBC to make the connection and I have tried to load the classes of the JDBC driver that I use to connect DB4/400 from Windows but It didn't work, I used the loadjava command but almost all the classes can be compiled when are being load to oracle.
Have you ever do something like that?, Is there any JDBC driver to connect DB2/400 from Oracle?
    I have Oracle 8.1.5 with jdk 1.1.6
    Thanks in advance

What JDK are you using on the Windows machine? My first guess is that you need to get a version of the DB2 JDBC driver that is compatible with the 1.1.6 JDK-- the version you have at the moment probably requires a later version of the JDK.
I don't recall off the top of my head what version of the JDK 8.1.7.4 used, but I know 9.2 is using at least the 1.2 JDK. Is it possible for you to upgrade your database, at least to a supported version (8.1.7.4) if not the current version (9.2)?

  • Dead connections with Implicit Connection

    Hello,
With OracleConnectionCacheImpl I had a pool that worked fine except when the pooled connections lose their connection to the database (ie database goes down for weekly maintenance). However, when the db came back up the connections were still "INACTIVE" but dead meaning when you tried to access the pool you'll get "Cannot connect to Oracle" errors.
Can anybody tell me if this behaviour changes with the new Implicit Connection, and if it´s the case, provide references?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

    Hello Tugdual,
thanks for your time, the versions are :
    OC4J : not standalones but as a part of OAS 10g (9.0.4.1)
JDBC Driver : included in OAS currently classes12.zip , but I suppose I also can use ojdbc14.jar.
    JDK : 1.4.2_02
With this versions does the Implicit Connection provide dead connection detection in case of database down ?
    Regards,
    Robert
