10g Application Server installation

Hi Gurus,
I have a server with Sunsolaris Operating system and planning to install 10g App Server.
I have a x-windows on it.
My question is, can i install 10g Application server like windows installation ? or still i have to follow the
sunsolaris installation instructions ?

Defineitely follow the Solaris specfic instructions. There are patches, packages and kernel parameters that must be configured properly on Solaris, before installing 10gAS. The OUI portion though is the same as on Windows, it's the pre- and post- that is different.

hi,
for forms and reports purpose you can download standalone oracle forms and reports (version 10.1.2.0.2) component.
If you want to upgrade it you can upgrade it to 10.1.2.3.0.

i'll recommend you to use oracle fusion middleware 11g forms, reports,portal and discoverer component.

Oracle 10g Application Server Installation Error

Hi Everyone!
This is my first time to install Ora10g Apps Server and I encountered an error at 2 assistant configuration point.
By the way, I'm installing it in a Windows Server 2003.
I encountered the first road block at Oracle Database Configuration Assistant. An error msg showed that
there was an Error updating the necessary configuration files and I can manually configure this by
running \OraHome_1\bin\emca script.
I clicked Ok and the status showed Succeeded.
The 2nd error showed at the Application Server Control Configuration Assistant.
I checked the log file...
Unable to determine local host from URL EMD_URL=http://srvs058:%EM_SERVLET_PORT%/emd/main/
Hope anyone can help me with this.
I've tried deinstalling/installing thrice now and still get stuck at this.

Oracle 10g Database Server or Oracle 10g Application Server

Greetings and Salutations!
I need to install APEX 3.01 for development purposes and I'm wondering if I need to do an Oracle 10g Database Server installation, an Oracle 10g Application Server installation, and then the APEX 3.01 installation, or is there another way such as an Oracle 10g Application Server installation and then the APEX 3.01 installation.
I'm confused and I need advice.

Apex software runs inside the database using the database's PL/SQL engine.
Apex software is accessed via HTTP requests that may be sent to an HTTP server as included on the database 'companion CD' or in the Application Server.

Installation of Oracle 10g Application Server in custom port or 1522

I want to install Oracle 10g Application Server in Port 1522 or some other port as in port 1521 Oracle 10g database server is already installed.
But every time I try to install Oracle 10g Application Server it give the warning about 1521 port and then start installing on same 1521 port automatically.
What should I do if I want to install in some other port ?

As a method, to install an OAS on a custom port,
1) make a file called staticports.ini and define your components/ports there.
2) on the Specify Port Configuration Options screen, select Manual and specify this file.

However, there are ways to use the same port for OAS and DB depending upon the version of your listener. Check the version of your DB Listener, and if it is 10.1.0.2 or higher then you are just good to go with automatic port assignments.

Oracle 10g Application Server 10.1.3.0 Installation for 64 bit

Can anyone let me know if there is an Oracle 10g Application Server 10.1.3.0 download available for 64 bit windows 2003 Enterprise Edition installed on Intel X64 Xeon Processor (EMT64T).

But when i tried to check from otn downloads there is a 64 bit deployment version available for itanium processors which we are not able to install on xeon processors. Anyways i installed the 32 bit version of 10G 10.1.3 on 64 bit and its working fine. Can you find out if there is any memory consuption for the 32 bit server when installed on 64 bit windows server

Having a problem accessing OEM 10g application server control console!

Hi everyone,
I just installed AS 10g (10.1.2.0.2) Forms and Reports Services Standalone on a Windows 2003 machine. The installation went fine, the instance was created successfully.
I started all the services, when i try to access EM :
http://fms-as.mathtechinc.com:18100. I get a blank screen.
I can get to the AS welcome screen by using http://fms-as.mathtechinc.com:80, but when I click on the link to log on to Oracle Enterprise Manger 10g Application Server Control. I still get a blank screen.
I checked the port numbers in port.ist.ini and the port for
application server control port =18100.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Thanks Jacco... now It is asking for the user name: and password. I do not remember assigning a user name. When I installed the AS, I created an
instance name and isa_admin password.
I tried to use the instance name as the username it was not accepted.

As far as installing Application Server (contains Oracle Portal) goes, I suggest using the installation guides for your platform. These are available on the Application Server documentation library page on OTN at http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/appserver101202.html.

You have to deploy Servlet as a WAR File. I hope you already have web.xml file which u can get automatically in eclsipse during creation of servelet. I am not sure what ide u r using here. If u have created servlet in eclipse then I would suggest create a project dynamic webproject if u have not where IDE create all required files autmatiicaly and even you can deploy application from there itself.
If you wanted to deploy manually then follow below steps (if u have war file)
I am assuming you already created a Weblogic Domain and have admin username/password. Start your domain. Login into weblogic console like http://host:port/console and use admin username/password. Then from Deployments section, deploy the above WAR file. In Weblogic you can deploy JAR (EJBs, java files), WAR (web jsp, html, webservices, servlets) or EAR (JAR + WAR). In your case its just a WAR file.

Sun Java System Application Server installation location on windows

Hi there...
I'm just doing the "Your First Cup: An Introduction to the Java EE Platform" tutorial for the first time. I'm trying to add the Sun Java System Application Server in NetBeans IDE. It's asking me to select the Platform Location, and I have no idea where that is. No help instructions I've found say where it normally gets installed, and I've found now mention of it on the web.
Can anyone tell me the location where this is supposed to be located? I HAVE installed the Java EE SDK 5 for Windows. The location it offers as a default is "C:\Program Files\glassfish-v2ur2\", but there is a red message at the bottom of the dialog that reads "Provide a valid Application Server Installation Location for 'Sun Java System App...". The Register Local Default Domain drop-down box has not options to select, either.
I would try and search some more, but I just don't know what to search for. If anyone can offer any insight into this, I appreciate it.

Urgent: problem running reports in Oracle 10g application server

Hi all,
our problem is that we deployed a jsp report as Ear file in Oracle 10g application server in infrastructure node.deployment says successfull.when we try to run that report it says 401 unauthorised.while sending request we are passing the database username,password &sid is this correct or any configuration setting to be done to make it run.
one morething normal jsp works fine.when we run reports jsp it gives the above mentioned 401 error.

when you deploy reports JSPs they still require the reports specific componentes (e.g. TLD file, classes, ...) etc be available. i doubt that's the case in your ear file.

Oracle 10G application server integrate with e-business suites 11i

Server A:
i have one UAT server which is installed with e-business suites 11i. The users logon to discoverer from e-business suites using the username and password stored in e-business suites.
Server B:
then, i now hv to set up a 10G application server and 10G discoverer on a new server. The user request that they want to login to discoverer using the username and password as mentioned above. They reject to logon to database using 'connect directly', 'open connection' or 'private connection'.
what can i do in order to synchronize the username from Server A to Server B so that they can logon using the username and password they created in e-business suites.

follow note 313418.1 it will let you use your oracle apps 11i with discoverer 10g, with the same user name and password, i did it before you may want to check my post after you check oracle note
