10g: problem with similar named listeners

env:
2 node OEL cluster (not rac, a linux cluster)
11.2.0.3 GI
11.2.0.3 and 10.2.0.5 DB's
The problem seems to be that lsnrctl in 10g is only using the first 12-13 characters of the listener name.
I have a listener configured with the name listener_prodXXX, when I configure another listener named listener_prodYYY and want to start ist:
lsnrctl start listener_prodYYY
TNS-01106: Listener using listener name listener_prodXXX has already been started.
ps -ef |grep -i listener_prod
oracle 2784 1 0 13:03 ? 00:00:00 /oracle/product/10.2.0/XXX/bin/tnslsnr listener_prodXXX -inherit
is there a rule for naming the listeners?

If you have only one listener with multiple db's and want to do some maintenance on one of them, how do you avoid user connecting to it?Put the database in restricted session mode
I don't think its forbidden to use multiple listeners, so if I'm having a problem with the configuration the forum should be the place to ask, isn't it?It is not forbidden to use multiple listeners, but in 999 out of 1000 cases it is not required, and people 'think' they need multiple listeners for the wrong reasons.

So, yes, if you want to setup multiple listeners, without apparent and/or sound reasons, I will explain you don't need them/.
There is nothing wrong about that, isn't it? Many people here 'think' they know Oracle, few have experience and know they do.

Rather odd problem with package naming...

Background info:
I'm working on a web-based application, on a Tomcat server. Classes (and packages) must be in a subfolder of WEB-INF/classes of the app's root. So the packages are in WEB-INF/classes/com/<package>.
The older packages are in com/gestion (for the package com.gestion ) and the newer ones are in com/incsolution/<various> where <various> can be either chart, util or pgm - following convention more closely.
OK! We have a class called SqlBean in com.gestion, which starts off like so:package com.gestion;

....................................................................^The solution to your problem is simply that your classpath is incorrect at compile-time. How you fix that depends on how you compile (from an IDE, from the command-line javac tool, etc). But whatever you do, don't make your solution depend on a system environment CLASSPATH variable.

Forms/Designer 10g - problem with attached libraries

I've problem with forms with attached libraries. All of libraries have removed paths. I can run all forms without any problem on my local application server from Forms Builder 9i or Designer 9i. I added all paths in registry FORMS90_PATH. WORKINGDIRECTORY in formsweb.cfg is blank.
Unfortunately I can't do it with Developer 10g on second workstation. I added all paths in registry FORMS_PATH. WORKINGDIRECTORY in formsweb.cfg is blank too. When form is running I get ORA-06508. I can't store all files (fmb, fmx, pll, plx etc.) in one folder because I've to use CVS. In this case I can't set any folder in WORKINGDIRECTORY.

Assuming Forms 10.1.2.x, FMX, MMX, PLX, and OLB files are found based on the value of FORMS_PATH which is set in default.env and not the Registry. This applies to runtime only. The Builder uses the Registry.
Understand that "runtime" refers to any time a form is displayed in a browser, regardless of whether is was started from the Builder or Application Server.
Also, be aware that if you have FMX, MMX, or PLX files which were created in older versions they must be recompiled using the 10.1.2 compiler.

10G Problem with HTTPServletRequests

Hi everyone, since we put in 10G we have a strange problem with HTTPServletRequests. We use a number of service servlets for loading images and performing data selections etc... Since we put in 10G the HTTPServletRequests seem to get mixed up so that the data selection servlet does not get its proper request but instead the last requrest that was processed by the image selection servlet.
This is definiteley realted to either a 10G setting that we somehow missed or a 10G bug. When we deploy to the server which runs the old OC4J it works fine and it used to work fine in 9.0.3.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, we believe it's a timing issue. We added some logic to dump everything from the HTTPServletRequest to the log which slows down the process. It works much better then and the delay appears to help in getting the proper request to the proper servlet.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Problems with re-naming photo files

Hi there, could anyone please give me some advice on a problem I am having with re-naming photos?
I have scanned over 2000 photos onto my mac. I scanned a batch of a couple of hundred at a time, and as I went along I would copy each batch into iphoto and then trashed them off the hard-drive (with hindsight I'm not entirely sure why I did that!). I am now trying to back them all up on to an external hard drive and have run into problems. The file names they saved as are for example img001, because of the number of photos I scanned I have about five photos in iphoto all with the same file name, and when I drag them onto the hard drive to copy them I am of course getting the message pop up that says I already have a file of that name on the hard drive and do I want to replace it, which of course I don't.
So...... I went through all the photos and renamed them so they were all different. However, although they show with new titles, when I click on "Show Extended Photo Info" in the Photos menu, the file name shows as the original one it was scanned as. I have then tried right clicking the photo and going to "Show file", and have renamed the photo there. However it still shows the same file name back in the extended photo info, and when I try to copy it on to my hard drive I get an error message saying "The items on the Clipboard cannot be pasted to this location. One or more of the items may have been deleted or are no longer available".
This is driving me insane!!! Please can someone help me!?

several things most of which have to do with what iPhoto is and how it works
iPhoto is a database program and you must not every make any changes to the contents or structure of the database (the files) except using iPhoto - never via the finder or other programs
as a database you never use the internal structure but use the database tools to access the photos
The only way to backup up the database is to copy it intact as a single entity to a different drive - you can not back it up in pieces
To backup the photos or move them to a different machine you export them from the database (file menu ==> export) and one of the options at that time is to assign new file names
when I drag them onto the hard drive to copy them I am of course getting the message pop up that says I already have a file of that name on the hard drive
So now that you understand how iPhoto works you see that there is a simple solution to this - simply export the photos and use the rename option in the export to assign sequential names to them
I went through all the photos and renamed them so they were all different
If you did this by typing a new title below the photo then you simply export using the use title as file name option
I have then tried right clicking the photo and going to "Show file", and have renamed the photo there
This is using the finder to modify the contents of the iPhoto library and will corrupt your library and make it unusable - to use it you will have to restore it as it was - your backup is the easiest

Problem with the naming service

Hi All,
I want to register one distributed object with
the naming service explicitly. I set the distributed
property "allowed" for the class, and in the init
method, i tried to set isAnchored property and tried
to register the object using REgisterObject method. It
says, object already registered with the naming
service. So, i set Distributed Property isDefault, the
same error pops up. What could be the mistake? I know
that, from the same partition, we can't register
twice.

Problem with project naming

Have anybody managed to change the default project naming parameter? When I import my photos into a new project, the Aperture always name the new project like '16 Dec,2010', and I would rename it as '20101216' every time when I have finished importing. I don't want rename them any more.
So, how can I change the project naming format to something like '20101216' by default?
I've tried to change the Folder naming preset in Aperture menu, now my project naming format is 'ImageYear ImageMonth ImageDay', and the example shown above is '20080101', but when importing photos into new project, the new project still names as '16 Dec,2010' and the preset seems doesn't work at all.
Anybody knows how to deal with it?
(Now I've checked 'automatically split projects' in the import setting and set 'split projects by date' in preference.)

When you import you can name the project you want to import into. Look at the right hand side of the import browser in the section labeled *Aperture Library*. You're destination can either be an existing project or a new project. If you select new project you can enter the name of the project.
Unfortunately I don;t believe that there is a way to change Aperture default project naming convention.

Problem with Applying Naming Standards to Keys and Constraints

I have an issue, and not sure where to go. I have 3 relational models in 1 design. I set up my foreign key template. I applied it to the first relational model, and it worked like a charm. When I bring up the "Apply Naming Standards" window for the second model and click on OK, nothing happens. The window just stays there and the OK button turns gray. I checked the log, but no messages are written. I just have to click on cancel to close the window. Has anyone got any suggestions on what to do? I even went back in and changed a table name to make sure that a foreign key name should change, and still nothing happens.

thanks for design. I logged bug for that problem - some FK columns keep information about non existent foreign keys.

10g problem with ports

Hi, I need some help:
I have an application running in an application server (JBoss -4.0.3) in a network. It connects to my 10g db (In other network) through a firewall. I know I have port 1521 open, and can do selects but when I try to make an insert from my application I obtain a connection timed out. I have heard that 10g uses as main connection port 1521 and after renegotiates more ports. Is it true? how can I configure this?
(The same application in developments enviroment (without firewall) works ok)

Are you windows? If yes, setting 'USE_SHARED_SOCKETS=TRUE' (control panel ==> SYSTEM) should resolve the port redirection problem. For a detailed description see on metalink:

This is an Oracle Net issue, should be independent from the kind of statements. So I'm surprised that 'select' works, but 'insert' does not.

Problem with File Naming when Importing in LR 3

When I previously imported in LR 2, under File Naming, I used a custom template:
{Custom Text}_{Date(YY)>>}_Sequence # (001)>>}. Sometimes I added custom text and it showed up in my file name and other times I didn’t and then the file name just included the Date and the Sequence # without the Custom Text.
I am having a problem when importing in LR 3. The dialog box on the right is now called File Renaming instead of File Naming. I am using the same Custom Template I used when importing in LR 2. There is a line in the dialog box for Custom Text as there was in LR 2. If I add a custom text name, it shows up at the beginning of the file name correctly as it did in LR 2. But if I leave it blank, you’ll remember in LR 2 the resultant file name just included the Date and Sequence #, but in LR 3 the file name now is “untitled_Date_Sequence #”.
How do I do this so it doesn’t have “untitled” in the file name?

Thanks for reply. I am using Windows 7 64 bit. I am using 'Copy", not copy to DNG. There are 2 screen shots attached. The first screen shot is from LR2 and you can see there is no "untitled" in the file name example. The second is from LR3 and you can see "untitled" is in the first part of the file name in the example. Do you need any other information?

Oracle 10g - Problem with Date Ranges using Between

I am keeping track of patients who have not been contacted during a date range. if a nurse adds an event or note and the note is type 1,3,4 then this is a contact. The following works but if the event or note was made on the same day as the report is run, the current contact is not printed. Any help to improve the query and identify the problem would be appreciated. If you want rows from c to be included even if there is no matching row in ci, then do an outer join, like you're already doing with the e and n tables:

Interconnect 10g problem with XML which has mixed contents

I'm having problem to receive a XML message which contains PCDATA and other child element Mixed. Here is the sample DTD. I'm able to create the CV and AV by importing this DTD. But at runtime, if the inbound XML contains PCDATA and other element mixed, it throws error. Any help/ workaround will be appreciated.

Migration from Access to Oracle 10g (Problem with migration wizard)

I have an access database which I want to migrate to Oracle DB.
I have created 2 connections.
1. Access connection with the source database
2. Oracle connection.
I have associated the oracle connection to the repository.
When I go through 'MIGRATION WIZARD' process. I am not able to view the source database file while capturing. Tried it several times.
Need a help in this

Arjun,
you cannot do an online migration with MS Access as you can do with other foreign datasources. You can only do an offline migration.
The first step that you need to do is to call the Microsoft Access Exporter. Click on Tools - Migration - Microsoft Access Exporter and chose the exporter of the MS Access version that you are using.
The exporter creates an xml file for you. After the exporter has finished you can do the migration, click on Tools - Migration - Migrate, but in Step 4 please select "Offline", and then you can select the xml file that the exporter has created. The following steps in the Migration assistant are then doing the migration for you.
You might also want to read the chapter "Before Migrating From Microsoft Access" in the online help of SQL Developer.

10g - Problem with PServer CVS

(CVSROOT :pserver:user@host:/dir) always brings the following error message:
internal error: get_cvs_port_number called for invalid connection method (ext): Invalid argument

[AS] Problem with exporting all pages individually

Hi, I ain't found any solutions by my self or on the web, so I hope, someone can help here.
I wrote this piece of AS code. I wish it exports all the pages as separate PDFs.
Alas, it crashes saying that the script ca't understand the page range.

Here is a little altered version of the ExportEachPageAsPDF script from the examples provided by Adobe. I assume, from the script you posted, that you want exported files to be named in the following way: toto + _ + page number + .pdf. But in my judgement, it would be more reasonable to use the name of active document without extension instead of "toto".
Why are you trying to reinvent the wheel? Isn't it better to take a ready-made script and remake it to your needs?
