10g RAC setup trouble in Windows 2003 env.

Hello, guys,
I had trouble in setup 10g RAC in Windows 2003 env.
Environment is following.
* Two PC which have two LAN cards which one is connected public network, other is connected internal network.
And Two PC have SCSI card connected shared disk. Share disk is setup logical drive, not assigned drive letter.
* PC's OS is Windows2003 Enterprise Server. OS is installed clean, not contain previous oracle.
Due to install manual, At first setup CRS, second setup 10g. So I setup CRS at firast. During CRS setup, I input two PC's public name and private name in installing node window and proceed setup, setup program install program into two PC at the same time. But setup failed in last service configuration window, and CRS service can't start.
I checked error message in log file, error is about registry... I can't find cause.
Do you know how to setup CRS into two PC?

I could resolve this trouble.
Cause is that shared disk settig is affected. Another side PC can't mapped drive letter, so I assigned drive letter manually, and reboot both PC.
After that, OracleCRService, OracleCSService, OracleEVMService could run.
Thanks

  • 10g RAC on Oracle VM/Windows 2003 server

Is there any documentation/thread/blog which describes installation of 10g clusterware on Windows 2003 VM on Oracle VM 2.1.2 using just direct attached storage? I created 2 Windows 2003 VMs. For OCR and Voting disks, I created shared virtual disks. These disks are visible from both VMs. When I try to install clusterware, both VMs blue screen about 50% into install. The error in CRS logs points to OCR disks not being in correct format. I have tested same process with VMWare server and it works fine. Do I need to do something different for Oracle VM?
BTW this is not my first time installing RAC on Windows 2003. I have done more installations than I care to remember but always on physical servers. I followed the same process as I do for physical servers but it seems that Oracle VM does not like the shared virtual disks.
    Thanks...

  • Oracle 10g RAC on 2 VMware Windows 2003 images corrupts image

It happened twice on each of the 2 VMware workstation 5 on which I am trying to set up an Oracle 10g R2 RAC. After installing CRS and rebooting machine I lost access to the Network Connections and the Disk Management. Basically I have to create a new image. Before I start a third time I would appreciate advice or feedback from other users.
Also Configuration Assistants failed to install.

    Hi All,
I am planning to setup "Oracle 10g RAC setup on Solaris using vmware", but I am strucked up at installation of Soaris 10 in VMWare.
Can any body please help/provide me the document on Solaris 10 installation for RAC setup .
The main problems I am having during the SOlaris 10 setup is
    1) Setting up the static public and private addresses required for RAC
    2) Partitioning the disk space.

  • Does Oracle 10G R2 support installation on Windows 2003 Domain Controller?

Does Oracle 10g R2 support installation on Windows 2003 Domain Controller? I remember that 10g R1 had issues with the DC? Is it still the case. Does it work now?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Raghav

We have Oracle 10g R2 running on a Windows 2003 domain controller. It was not a domain controller when Oracle was installed. The domain was created after installation. (I don't recommend that procedure. I spent a long day fixing the installation after they configured the domain.) If Oracle is unhappy with being on a domain controller, it has not shown it yet.

  • NTLM module for oracle 10g Release 2 Apache on Windows 2003

    Hi,
I want to implement autologon on my HTML DB application depending on the Windows username. I understand that I can implement this feature with the Apache module modntlm.
Is there anyone who has got this working on Windows 2003 Server in combination with Oracle 10g Release 2 Apache on Windows 2003.
Which version NTLM software do I need and where can I download the version for Windows 2003 server?

Nothing fantastic, we have the username/id passed in from the linking application (company intranet) as part of the URL. The process is invisible to the end-user. Possibly not ideal if you want really tight security/authentication, but it was sufficient for our needs, and the problems we had previously where users were unable to use the application have disappeared. I'd like to know the reasons for the problems we had with mod_ntlm (running on AIX), but it was more important to
me to deliver a working app than to spend time resolving probelms in 3rd party software.
    Cheers.

  • Rac one node in windows 2003?

I could find neither the patch 9004119 nor documentation for windows.
All are about RAC one node in linux.

    hi,
On 11g R2, yes you can have a one node RAC and the patch you are looking for is only available for Linux. Please read note 220970.1

  • Installing AS 10g (10.1.2) on Windows 2003 Server

I have problem installing AS 10g (10.1.2.0.0) on Windows 2003 Server. Installation seems to be ok, but when I tried (on server) to go into Enterprise Manager (EM), I wasn't asked for password, only blank page was shown. So I tried enter EM on workstation (XP, SP2) - succesfully. All seemed OK, until I tried deploy some application from ear file. I waited a long time, but nothing happened. On server I see, that nothing at all is being uploaded into applications directory. I tried all that again on AS installed on XP workstation - without any problems, so problem will probably be on 2003 server. Do you have any idea where? Thanks.

I solved one thing - running Enterprise Manager on server is now possible after I changed security level in Internet Explorer. Now I can deploy applications from server, whether the .ear file is on server or shared from workstation. I still have problems with deploy from workstation (though I was several times succesfull). After browsing to .ear file and clicking on Continue button on first (out of 3) page, the IE waits very long time (many minutes) to next page. Once on next page, I am able to finish it all OK quite quickly.

  • SGA_TARGET SIZE 3GB in 10g Release 2 server on windows 2003 E Server?

Is it possible to increase the SGA_TARGET greater than 3 GB on Windows 2003 Enterprise server(32-bit)?
OS version : Microsoft Windows 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition
    Service Pack 2
    Bit Version : 32 bit
    Computer(SERVER) : Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.60GHz
    3.59GHz, 15.5 GB RAM
    Physical Address Extension
    DataBase Version : Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0)

    hi,
As suggested earlier , please go through following notes as it will help you understand the concepts clearly
Note:342080.1. This note talks in detail on how to use more than 4GB RAM on Windows.
Note:225349.1 Implementing Address Windowing Extensions (AWE) or VLM on Windows Platforms
You can not set SGA_TARGET greater then 2.7 G on windows 32 bit machine. Yes , you can have SGA greater then 3 Gb but by using AWE which requires to unset SGA_TARGET and use db_block_buffers instead of db_cache_size.

  • Oracle 10g Universe Connectivity From 64bit Windows 2003 Server

    Hi,
Have an existing BO XI 3.1 environment built on a 64 bit Windows 2003 server and
I'm having problems getting it to communicate with Oracle 10g universes.  Works fine
with its SQL Server 2005 repository and SQL Server 2005 relational/olap universes, but
cant seem to get it to work with Oracle.
Universes work fine on the 32 bit development environment talking to the same Oracle
database, but when move them to 64 bit testing environment they all fail with
    Oracle ora-12154 errors.
32 bit Oracle client is installed and can communicate fine with other products using ODBC
connections from the server - but BO refuses to communicate.
Any ideas other than reinstalling BO under 'Program Files' rather than 'Program Files (x86)'
as I've seen some references on the web about this possibly being a problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Oracle 32 bit and 64 bit connectivity work fine from the server.  The problem seems to
relate to bug 3807408 in Oracle 10g that cant handle parentheses in directory names.
So BO being installed in u2018C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objectsu2019 causes it to get
    rather annoyed.
SAP Note 1202730 does cover this, but our DBA's aren't too keen on installing the
suggested patch.  I'm also not very keen on reinstalling BO in a different directory as
we've got working production sites that would have to be rebuilt.
So now investigating whether using the Oracle 11g client will resolve this.
MSDN forum topic http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/ab662d63-6385-4f73-b27f-d526048f601f/  gives a pretty good overview of what people have been trying to resolve this.

change IP Address Public + VIP + Interconnect
    http://surachartopun.com/2007/01/i-want-to-change-ip-address-on-oracle.html
    change VIP name
    http://surachartopun.com/2009/01/change-vip-hostname-on-oracle-rac.html
If you'd like to change HOSTNAME... Metalink (NOTE:220970.1)
Can I change the public hostname in my Oracle Database 10g Cluster using Oracle Clusterware?
Hostname changes are not supported in Oracle Clusterware (CRS), unless you want to perform a deletenode followed by a new addnode operation.
The hostname is used to store among other things the flag files and Oracle Clusterware stack will not start if hostname is changed.
    Changing the Private Interconnect
o Change of the IP Address: change the IP address in the hosts file and/or DNS and make sure that ASM and the database also use the same interconnect
o Change of the private node name used by Oracle Clusterware: requires a reinstall of Oracle Clusterware
So, Public or Private hostnames can only be changed by removing/adding nodes, or reinstalling Oracle Clusterware. VIP Hostnames can be changed
But you can read this idea (reinstall CRS)

  • RAC using OCFS on windows 2003

    Hi,
i am building a 2 node windows 2003 cluster (enterprise edition) and planning to install ORACLE RAC on it. What are the steps required to do this?. Do I need to use the Microsoft Cluster service to deploy a cluster and then install oracle rac on it. Or does oracle provide a clustring service on it own. Currently i have 2 servers each running windows 2003 connected together via a cross over cable.
What kind of configuration is reuired with the file system, OCFS or raw partition.
    thanks

I don't think MCS is required. Take a look at:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b14207/prewin.htm#sthref198
and check the certified combinations in Metalink.

  • Cisco vlan setup w a windows 2003 dhcp server help

Can anyone give me some tips or point me to some documentation on setting up a catalyst 4500 series w vlans and a windows 2003 server w associated dhcp scopes? Just for curiosity, what is a good vlan design for a college. I was thinking a student, a staff, a faculty, and a guest and or mgmt vlan. Also, on the guest vlan how would I setup an outbound acl to only allow port 80 traffic? Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Try to limit the number of users per vlan to no more than a class C subnet if you can. We use half a class C /25 network in our offices.
If you can break up the vlans to match the different type of users then that would be a good start. It means you can further down the line apply different security policies to the different vlans which in your situation you may well want to do. Don't worry if for example you need to use 2 or 3 vlans for students it's not a problem.
Attached is a link for 4500 configuration. You need to look at the following chapters primarily
    1) Configuring VLAN's VTP & VMPS.
    2) Configuring Layer 3 interfaces. Look at the section on logical layer 3 SVI's.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/12.2/31sg/configuration/guide/conf.html
On the guest vlan you would need something like (assuming guest vlan subnet range is 192.168.1.0/24
    access-list 120 permit tcp 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 any eq www
    access-list 120 deny ip 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 any
and apply it on the inbound vlan interface. ie. if your vlan for guest users is vlan 20
    switch(config)# vlan 20
    switch(config-if)# ip access-group 120 in
As for the W2003 server, not done much with windows. You will need DHCP manager which should be under admin tools. Make sure you exclude the addresses for each subnet that you allocate to the 4500 layer 3 interfaces ie
    switch(config)# vlan 20
    switch(config-t)# ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
In your DHCP scope 192.168.1.1 will be the default gateway for your clients and you should exclude this from the scope.
Hope this is enough to get you started
    Jon
