11g r2 DG configuration doubts

Hi gurus,
i have some doubts in dg. even after reading some documents also i am not clear.
1) when primary db sending archives to standby by based on which parameter location it stores the archives.
2) standby_archive_dest parameter is deprecated. is there any parameter replacing this. and is there any new parameters introduced in dg.
3) i am configuring like in 10g only. is that mandatory to use rman tool to configure dg.
Please help me to be clear with this.
thanks a lot..

Archives wil be send to standby from primary by mentioning service= in log-archive_dest, in case or RAC fal client & server plays a major role too.
Standby archive dest is depricated, no extra parameters are introduced. Standby arch/local arch dest can be same.
As usual either you can restore from backups or you can perform duplicate using RMAN.
Starting from 11g duplicate from active database been introduced.
If GRID manager configured then you can build standby too.
Thanks

Reports URL: http://SRVWEBLOGIC:8090/reports/rwservletIn the weblogic's administration console i can see the managed server's ports as:
    WLS_FORMS    -> 9001
    WLS_REPORTS  -> 9002But in the installation's resume the port are 8090
    Forms URL: http://SRVWEBLOGIC:8090/forms/frmservlet
Reports URL: http://SRVWEBLOGIC:8090/reports/rwservletI tried the url's from the installation's resume:
    http://SRVWEBLOGIC:8090/forms/frmservlet
    http://SRVWEBLOGIC:8090/reports/rwservlet
and they do not work, but if i change their ports to 9001 and 9002 as they appears in the weblogic's console they work
    So i have some doubts:
-What is the porpuse of this ports ??
-Why the Forms's url and Reports's url from the installation's resume are not working ??
    -can i change the WLS_REPORTS's port ??
-there is a problem if for example i change the WLS_REPORTS's port to 8090 ??
-i have created a new report server with opmnctl createcomponent and i can see that when i access to it, i have to use the same reports's port 9002, is there a way to change the new report_server's port ??
    Regards
    Carlos

8090 would be the port of the Apache HTTP Server, 9001 and 9002 are the ports of the managed weblogic servers running the forms and the reports servlets. You can reach both weblogic servers under port 8090 as the HTTP Server talks via mod_weblogic to the weblogic servers. If you want to change the ports of the weblogic servers you can do so in the weblogic server console, but also you need to change them in the config files of Apache if you want them both to be reachable under the Apache port. Those files are located under
    ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OHS/ohs1/moduleconf
They should be pretty self explanatory.
I tried the url's from the installation's resume:
    http://SRVWEBLOGIC:8090/forms/frmservlet
    http://SRVWEBLOGIC:8090/reports/rwservlet
and they do not work, but if i change their ports to 9001 and 9002 as they appears in the weblogic's console they workSee also in those config files. For the configuration of mod_weblogic you need to provide the hostname, so maybe you have a problem with your naming resolution (at least this was mostly the problem in my case). See that you get a fixed IP for your server if you don't have one already and check your DNS entries of your DNS server. If everything else fails you can still provide the IP adress instead the hostname.
As for all your other questions the base problem should be the same; see that you get mod_weblogic running, and everything should be running via port 8090. If you want to change that listener port you can do so in the httpd.conf under
    ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OHS/ohs1
    cheers

  • BPM 11g install and configuration with Webcenter

    Hi,
I am new to this BPM so need some help in installation. Where can I download the latest version of BPM 11g and for installating it what steps do I need to follow. Also I need to integrate Webcenter also so for webcenter integration what do I need to install and configure with BPM 11g.
Do I need to install webcenter full suite for integration with BPM and if so can I install both BPM and webcenter in one home iteself. Where can I find some documentation arround installing BPM and configuring with Webcenter.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Need some info on the install I have to install both SOA BPM 11g 11.1.1.3 and Webcenter 11.1.1.3 on the same box. I have installed the SOA BPM 11.1.1.3 but wanted to find out what is the best option of installing Webcenter 11.1.1.3 as I need to integrat SOA BPM 11g 11.1.1.3 and Webcenter 11.1.1.3. Here is what I think are the options but don't know which one should I go for or is there any other option but the fact is I need to install both on the same box.
*1. Should I install Webcenter in a separate HOME in doing so I will end up installing weblogic again and then install webcenter. Will endup having two ORACLE HOMES one for SOA BPM and one for Webcenter.*
*2. OR should I install Webcenter in the same home as SOA BPM and create a new domain in doing so what happens to some of the components that are installed when installing SOA BPM.*
*3. OR should I just extend the SOA BPM Domain and have both SOA BPM and Webcenter installed in the same domain. I believe this will only add the webcenter components but don't know if there are any issues.*
    And help is really appreciated..
    Thanks

  • Oracle 11g forms + SSO configuration

    Hi,
We are having a forms 11g application and we are trying to configure the same with oracle SSO. But when I set the ssoMode=true in the formsweb.cfg file and hit the url, i just get a page with a "Oracle SSO" line at the top of the page and nothing else.

    Karthik,
I think (to be confimed) that the Forms Servlet relies on Oracle SSO only (in order to get full SSO features and LDAP authentication).
This OOTB feature deals with authentication but also with provisioning considerations and with passing context between Forms and Report (perhaps it's not in yours needs)
Meanwhile, it should be possible to do a bind directly with the OID directory, from a Forms application.
That means that you give up the SSO setup, and you implement the authentication into the application code with a specific login trigger.
This trigger (on-logon) will call a PL/SQL function aimed to do a simple bind with the OID (just to verify the right combination user/password).
Have a look into the Forms forum. There are numerous skilled guys who have probably already done this job.
Fortunatly, OID is provided with a rich set of PL/SQL APIs at the database server level, well suited for Forms developers. You can also use LDAP APIs at the Apps Server level (vs Database).
    Patrick.

  • Grid Control 11g step Repository Configuration running for 24 hours+

Got through all the prerequisites and am installing GC 11g on an Oracle Linux 5 machine which is also running my repository database instance (11.2.0.1). The GC install went rather smoothly until I hit the 'Repository Configuration' step. It's been sitting there for over a day.
It does look like it's doing something as running a
    select count(*) from dba_objects where owner = 'SYSMAN';
the number creeps up.. slowly.. sometimes.. right now it's at 5888.
No errors in the GC install error log. every half hour or so I am seeing a 'Warning inbound connection timed out ORA-3136' error in my database alert log. I tried setting my inbound_connection_timeout in my listener to 0 as well as updating the sqlnet.ora file, but i still get these now and again. GC doesn't seem to notice or mind. There is nothing else running on this machine (Dell Optiplex 755 4Gb ram 2 cpus).
I'm just trying to get a feel for how the install is and get familiar with the 11g GC before upgrading our 10g GC..
    any ideas?

fwiw I am seeing some dismal performance running DDL in the sysman schema..
for instance in the following example creating a table in the sys schema happens instantly, as does dropping it.. creating the same table in sysman takes about 50 seconds and dropping the table takes about 15 seconds.. weird, eh?

  • WebLogic 11g (JDeveloper11g) Deployment Configuration

    Hello,
I developed a Dashboard application using Fusion technology within JDeveloper 11g and Oracle Database Express 10g for not-for profit organization that will track all their global IT Assets. The application look great. I also completed configuration of Oracle WebLogic 11g and deploy the Application from EAR file.
    The Problem
After completing the deployment, the application work pretty well if the application is not removed from JDeveloper11g. Whe I decided to removed the application from JDeveloper 11g, I was not able to view the application when I run the WebLogic 11g Application Server.
The configuration deployment in Jdeveloper doesn't go to the process of configuring the following as it is done in Jdeveloper 11g handbook:
cannection name, connection type: weblogic, authentication, configuration, test, finish
The Solution I am looking for:
I am looking to configure the EAR file and remove the source code from the computer so I do not give out the source code. Is this possible with JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0? or do I need another version of JDeveloper?

    Hi
From JDeveloper IDE, you can deploy your application or project to any Application Server OR as an EAR or WAR file. Any web application can be deployed as WAR file. This war file will be created under deploy folder of your project within the project source folder. But if you have application and this has multiple projects, then at application level, you can choose deploy and select as EAR. This will create .EAR file under deploy folder of your application. This is how its done most of the times. During development, we deploy directly to the app server configured with JDeveloper. Later on to deploy to any other application server, you create .EAR or .WAR or .JAR from JDeveloper. Then deploy these modules on external appliacation servers. There is no need for your source code or any stuff.
    Thanks

    Hi Guys,
We are implementing OOTB Repository, After data load some of the reports are showing the following error msg. Can anyone point me out where to change the limits?
"Showing error while loading ""View Display Error

Thanks in advanceWhat version of OBIEE are you using? Assuming you are on 11g, below is the link that tells you what tag's needs to be changed in the configuration file in order to increase/decrease the limit on number of rows retrieved in a report across the board:

  • Stms configuration doubt

    Dear Experts,
We are using ecc 5.0 on oralce database on unix.actually i got doubt to configure stms.My domain controller is Domain_TPD.
which is development system.now that system is down.and the testing server is TPU.And production is TPU.
I have a doubt that i can delete that domain controller and i can create Domain controller in production and i will add testing system to production.Do i configure the same thing in stms.is it possible to create TMS between two systems with same sid.
    Please suggest me.
    Regards,
    Naveen

    Hi ,
Please find answer to your questions::
    1. i can delete that domain controller and i can create Domain controller in production:: yes you can delete the current configuration & make PRD system as  domian controller .
    2. i will add testing system to production:: yes you can add new system to new domain.
3.is it possible to create TMS between two systems with same sid.:: Same SID will not be supported in one landscape. You must have dieffrent SIDs .If you are asking the question like if you can configure the transport route in same system then you can do it by creatinf a dummy system.
    Thanks..

  • 11g: Add And Configure Group

Before OBIEEE 11g, I can create new user and configure its role in the Administration, which means different preson can see different interface or data, for example, A person can see "China" region data, but can not see "America" region data, however, B preson can see "America" region data.
But when I use OBIEE 11g, I do not know how to create and configure role. If you know the method, please help me. Thanks!

According to your link, I create new user named "A" belong to new group named "Beijing" in the BIEE console, and in the EM I also create new application role named "Beijing" that contains the "Beijing" group, then restart the server. Finally I filter the City column into "Beijing" in Administration-->Appliction roles-->"Beijing"-->Permissions-->Data filter, but when I login into the answer through A user, I see all data in the city column, do not only view "Beijing" data .
If you know the method for solving it, please help me. Thank you!

    Hi Frnds,
We installed BAM on windows (Enterprise Link and BAM s/w).

  • Jdeveloper 11g Required Hardware Configuration

    Hi,
Pls anyone tell me required H/w configuration for jdeveloper 11g ,currently i am having 1.5 GB but my project take so much time to compile and give low Memory warning.
    Thanx.

    Hi,
According to the docs (link below), recommended minimum RAM is 2GB. I am running it on two machines -- one is 1.5GB ram and the other 2GB ram. It runs ok on both machines but as the application grows, it eats up more resources. Generally, the more RAM the better. There are some who run it with 4GB of ram.
Try updating your Java SDK as well. Some reported improvements after doing so.
