11g start fails with no error

Hi all.  I have inherited an OEM 11gR1 installation running on Solaris 10.
It has been running fine until recently.  We had to restart the server due to an issue unrelated to OEM.  When the server was back up the listener and database started fine, but I cannot get the OMS to start.
When I run emctl it just shows the version information and returns to a prompt with no error (see below).  None of the log files are touched.  Start, stop, and status commands all act the same.  However, i *can* start the agent without issue.  I'm guessing it is just an environmental configuration problem, but I've tried setting ORACLE_HOME, OMS_HOME, ORACLE_SID, and various others with no success.
Does anyone have any ideas?  I'm all out at this point.
Thanks,
Jeremy

  • UDI OSD Task Sequences started failing with 0x80070002 error in SCCM 2012

This is kind of long, but here goes...
We built a UDI task sequence in SCCM 2012 (with MDT integration) that we were testing for deployment of a couple of different Win7 images.  We customized the UDI experience thru the UDI wizard and XML file and OS deployment worked as expected
thru the task sequence (testing on Hyper-V VMs). Recently, this UDI TS started failing with error 0x80070002  during what appears to be the "Use Toolkit Package" step.  This is after the OS image has already been laid down and after the ConfigMgr
client has been installed/configured.  The SMSTS.log reports "Failed to open the task sequence key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Task Sequence.  Error code 0x8007002"  Among other errors...I will post the entire log below...
After the error during deployment, Win7 will boot normally, however, you have no network connectivity and it appears the proper network driver didn't get loaded in the OS. Combine this with the fact that the TS should have joined the machine to our domain,
but you can't login because no network.. Im not sure if the network issue is a product of the TS failing early or the actual cause of the TS failure.
Anyway, I attempted to build another UDI task sequence using the same boot image and toolkit/settings packages, but am experiencing the same error during deployment.  We have a few OSD task sequences built without UDI and those all still work just fine.
So, I am at a loss for where the root problem lies.  Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the entire SMSTS.log and BDD.log...

  • Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release2 11.2.0 silent Installation failing with port8081 error

    Hi everyone,
We are trying to create silent(unattended) install package to install Oracle database 11g express edition 11.2.0 silently on our machines. We modified the provided .iss file as per the requirement and tried to install with below command,
    setup.exe /verbose /s /f1"c:\DISK1\response\oracleXE-install.iss" /f2"c:\DISK1\oracle_log.txt" /v" /l*v "c:\DISK1\oracle_msi_log.txt""
Installation is failing with below error from the log file,
1: OracleXE-Server-Install-Message: Port 8081 is in use. Specify a different port number.
Installshield 11:22:22: Installation aborts, ready to shut down.
Port 8081 is being used by mcAfee in our organization. We tried passing a different port number for Http in the response file(.iss), but it is failing with same reason.  We have searched foruns and found that we need to stop the port8081 during the oracle XE installation and can start it later once the installation is completed. But As port 8081 is being used by McAfee in our organization, we could not stop it even during oracle XE installation as it creates security issues.
I am attaching the MSI log(failure log) and modified .iss(modfied .iss file to .iss.txt to be able to attach) files. Please look into it and suggest how can we achieve silent installation in this case.

Pl see previous discussions about this topic - seems to be a limitation of the silent install process

  • Rendering of Proxies in AE fails with generic error messages.

*sigh* working with AVC in CS4 on my quad core has been an exercise in pain.
I've followed the optimization guides linked to in the different forum posts and that lets me zip along until I actually start adding effects. Then I am right back to a crawl. I recently discovered proxies in AE and learned that I can use "replace" in premeire to leverage those same proxies... Sweet... When I works I am back to editing in both in real time!
The problem is AE is regularly failing to generate proxies for me and I cannot figure out why. All my video is shot the same 24mbps, 60fps, 1080p (true 60i). All shot from my Canon HF S10.
The error is always "Error reading frame from file" and it always occurs just before the render is about to complete. Sometimes I get lucky and a working .mov was generated in spite of the error. Bu most times the file isn't there.
So my 2.4ghz quad core with 8gb ram can't edit the originals and I can't create proxies... I'm effectively dead in the water.
I tried using Media Encoder to generate my proxies with no success either. It fails with "Unspecified Error".
Both times I am trying to encode to Quicktime, Jpeg, Draft Settings. For the heck of it I tried different codecs, etc. Nothing seems to help. Even worse is sometimes if I just queue the same file multiple times it eventually works.
Is there anything at all I can do to make successful proxy generation less like winning the lottery?

Yeah I updated to that right away. Premiere itself seems to behave most of the time. To be honest I've hardly had any problems with Premiere even before the 4.2 update.
But AVC (mts files) seem to be very problematic in AE in general. I also experience the issue mentioned here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2404464
Sounds like re-encoding to another format is the only way I'll be able to work in AE reliably. So I have to figure out a way to get Media Encoder to finish it's jobs.

  • At DI R3trans fails with this error code ORA-12545, but CI runs

    Hello Gurus,
We have our BW System on two instances with a separated oracle database server.
Last week the system was unreachable and we must restarted it hard.
After that, the Listener could  started and runs. The DB could started, mounted and opened successfully.
Now we have a special problem.
The central instance can connect at startup to the database. But the dialog instance not.
The DI get the following error:
    |> R3trans -x
    This is R3trans version 6.14 (release 701 - 12.06.09 - 15:20:00).

A telnet connection test to port 1527 are also unsuccessful.
But sporadicly the telnet or R3trans connection are successful, but the second check are unsuccessful.
We have checked the telnet connection to another oracle database server (ERP) at port 1527 and it works.
The CI have some entry's in ST22 with DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR --> ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE.
Are someone known something about this issue?
    regards
    Chris

    @ Sunny Pahuja:
    We checked sapmnt.
Sapmnt is common on CI and DI. It was never mounted on DB. But DB runs perfectly until this issue.
    @ Ankit Gupta
We checked the configuration of listener.
It is the same like the listener configuration of our ERP system with CI, DI and DB on separate Servers, too.

  • External Drive Disk Erase Failed with the Error Input/Output Error

I have 2 hard drives in an external FW800 enclosure that I am unable to format. When I go to initialize the drives in Disk Utility, I get the following error message: "Disk Erase failed with the error: Input/output error."
The drives show up in Disk Utility, but I can't repair them (that option is grayed out). Disk Utility correctly ID's the manufacturer of the drives (Maxtor), their size (200gb each), so it's obviously seeing that the drives are there. But it won't let me format them.
The drives are new, by the way; they don't have any data/files on them. I have Disk Warrior, but the drives don't show up there to be repaired -- probably because they aren't formatted yet.
After looking at other posts, I tried switching the jumper settings around on the drives -- from Master/Slave to cable select and back again, but it didn't help. I also tried doing a zero erase (even though the drives are new), zapping the PRAM -- again, no help.
One question I had is whether this could be a bad FW800 cable? The cable is new -- it came with the enclosure, which is an OWC Dual FW 800 enclosure. Other than that, does anyone have any other thoughts about what's causing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Matthew

    SOLUTION!!!!
I had the exact same problem. I have the original 20 GB hard drive that came in my Powerbook G4 550MHz and a couple of years ago I traded up for a 60 GB drive and bought a FW/USB enclosure for my original drive to use it to backup my important files. I hadn't backed up in over a year (shame on me!) and I decided maybe I should erase the drive and start from scratch. It was connected via USB.
At that point DiskUtility gave me the exact same Input/Output error. I tried partitioning the drive into 1 or more partitions but came up with the same error. I couldn't figure out what was wrong so I decided to startup in OS 9.2.2, I did that and let it start up, then plugged in the hard drive and it gave me the standard "This disk is unrecognizable, do you want to eject or erase?" so I clicked Initalize. It worked!
Just make sure you choose the MacOS Extended option when initializing out of OS 9 (instead of the MacOS Standard option) so it can be read and viewed in OS X.
If your computer is too new to be able to boot from an OS 9 folder on your drive or an OS 9 CD, then see if a friend or a local library has older computers that are running OS 9 or can boot from it. If not let me know and you can send me your drive and I'll reformat it.
Kind of crazy...I haven't used the OS 9 partition on my HD in YEARS...was even thinking about erasing it since I don't use any Classic applications anymore...good thing I didn't!

    Hi again OGELTHORPE.
I've already run two hardware tests. One quick one and one extended one. It was unable to pick anything up.
It's like everything is running perfectly, but when I go to erase the HDD or partition it, it pops up with the error message. Even when I try to erase and partition using "Terminal", I received the same error message.
It's beginning to do my head in, but will see if replacing the SATA cable will make any difference. If it doesn't, I'll hazard a guess it could be the Logic Board.
    Thanks again for your suggestions!

  • Windows Server 2012 Windows Backup failed with following error code '0x8078006B' (Windows Backup failed to create the shared protection point on the source volumes.).

The Volume Shadow Copy service initially was running under the context of System, so we thought that ‘System’ doesn’t have permissions to access network shares.
When the Volume Shadow Copy service was running under the context of System, this was the error logged:
“failed with following error code '0x8078014B' (There was a failure in creating a directory on the backup storage location.).”
Which is likely due to not having permissions to write to the network location.
This is a scheduled backup trying to write to a network location, so we changes the service to run under the context of an account that does have permissions to write to the network share.

    Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

We are trying to back up folders/files from 2 local drives (C: & D:), both of which have only 10% space used, and 100 GB free.

This is a standard error message.
If you would have checked into the bootcamp forum you would have instantly found the solution.
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1244&start=0
All that error message means is that you do not have enough conguous disk space available. No big deal at all for an older system. You have bits of files strewn over the "free space."
The solution as you would find in the bootcamp forum is to clone your HD, using a file-file clone, then test the clone to be sure it is working and then to erase your HD and clone back.
    Works every time.

  • Transfer ID failed with LUM errors

I have 4 netware servers to migrate to OES2. One was completed successfully using Transfer id a few weeks ago. This weekend I attempted another.
The last part of the transfer id failed with LUM errors that it couldnt access lum objects admingroup, www etc. As we have had one successful migration these objects do exist in the tree and are lum enabled. The /etc/nam.conf was modified prior to starting the transfer id to point to the ldap server with the master replica. I did create too many projects which I think caused me the lum errors which I couldn't get past. With the source server turned off I followed a TID dated 2009 for this LUM error and modified the unix object which had been created to be members of the groups it required, (luckily I had the previously migrated server unix object to compare to) quit the migration software and rebooted the server and then ran ndsrepair. No errors. I did not migrate any services.
Further investigation revealed errors relating to obtaining the SSLCert but it has not expired and despite the cant get it messages the files .der and .pem appeared in the correct folders on the target server. I did copy the .der file to the required location naming it with the ipaddress as per manual instructions. The target server now has a case of dual identity. The nss volumes are mounted ok and the users can map drives using the source server name but the Suse Linux server still thinks that its the pre-migration server when I run a terminal session. Ifconfig shows the correct source server ip. Consoleone is another story. The volume objects are the old ones and the new ones with pools are not showing. From the users viewpoint it works.
Before I do more damage can someone please point me in the right direction. The target name did change to the source before the restart so therefore I should just need to do the hostname rename manually. Should I start at step 7 in the manual instructions in an attempt to fix this server or should I abandon it and start again?

    $(UKevin
This defect will make into the next OES2SP2 Patch (post September). We didn't have enough time for QA to regress the fix for September Patch.

    Great, thanks!
As I mentioned previously, we DID find a bug about 3 weeks ago with LUM
repairfailing during the "group" (admingroup). We do have a field
patch for it, but obviously it's not made it into the channel yet.
So if you DO still have that problem, you should probably ask for the
    patch (it's one file).
    The defect #635574
Should help them reference the bug and get the patch for you.
I'm not sure when it will be released into the patch channel.
Not to say this fixes any and all LUM problems but since we have that
patch, we've not had any issues with the remaining OES2 SP2 64-bit
servers we've done with ID Transfer.

    Hi,
I am trying to exp a table from an oracle 9i db to an oracle 11g db.
    exp USERID=user1/pass1@db9i TABLES=test FILE=test.dmp ROWS="y" statistics="none" GRANTS="n" INDEXES="n" TRIGGERS="n" CONSTRAINTS="n"
While trying to import i get an error

    *"BEGIN SYS.DBMS_REPUTIL.SYNC_UP_REP('CYGENT_ADMIN','AGENT_ROOT_MAP'); END;"*
    _when i do_
    imp USERID=user2/pass2@db11g TABLES=test FILE=test.dmp FROMUSER=user1 TOUSER=user2 SHOW=Y
the last line i see is
    *"BEGIN SYS.DBMS_REPUTIL.SYNC_UP_REP('CYGENT_ADMIN','AGENT_ROOT_MAP'); END;"*
    _Question_
What do i need to do so that the last line (SYNC_UP_REP) is not included in the export dump.
Have tried searching for this but without much luck.
    Appreciate the help.

Explain your usage of Advanced Replication capabilities. Where, what, and why.

  • ORA-06540,following statement failed with ORACLE error 6540:

I was working during the last days on doing a full export/import for the database 9i I used the following script for the export .

And everything went fine, after that I dropped all the objects owners belonging to the tablepaces as i am doing that to solve fragmentation problems

Please note that all the tables and indexes are imported successfully even after the error started to show.
Is it something serious, should I do the import again with statistics=none or I am just fine now and it something that is just related for the statistics.

Is really "fragmentation" an issue to justify this table movement? Why do you want to "defragment" your schema? Is it because of performance issues? If this is the case you are wasting your time, if you tried to rebuild the indexes by this procedure, it is also a waste of time. If you are concerned about fragmentation because of "holes" and "islands" of unused space within segments and unused space below the HWM, that is something different, in my personal jargon, I'd rather use the term space reorganization.
If the data import was successful, then take a look at the dba_objects and verify if the program unit is still there and check its status.
You may also want to take a look at this note from AskTom that explains what this error means --> http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:571023051648
