16:9 question/problem

hello, i imported some footage, it was shot on a cannon gl-2 in 16.9 format, when i imported this into imovie it did get converted to 16.9 so there is a black bar on top of and below the footage in the time line...the problem is that when i add an effect, such as zoom, the black border disapears as well? i though that the footage would be independant of the black bar? am i correct? so the footage that i used the zoom effect. there is no border and the next clip there is? what an I doing wrong?

hey there Manny,
the imagers in the GL2 are 4:3, so when you select 16:9 it does a squeeze to create the anamorphic/widescreen image. when you import this footage into iMovie it produces the black bars you see. when you zoom, the image inside the bars is extrapolated to appear larger & fill the screen, so the black bars are no longer visible, just as if you had used the zoom on your widescreen TV. if you only select specific clips & apply the zoom effect only those clips will be be affected. if you want the zoom on all clips, you must select all the clips in the timeline.

I have a few question / problem, and i hope you could help me.
- when i play MKV vido files via USB, integrated subtitles works well but for me they are too small, too thin and too white. Can i make them biger, larger and with a black shadow around it ? if yes, how could i do this ?
- when i play MKV vido files via DLNA (with XBMC), there is no subtitles anymore. Whose fault is it ? my TV ? XBMC ? do you how i can fix this ?
- does anybody know if DTS will be supported sooner or later on 2012 toshiba TV models such as my 40TL938

In "subtitle type" the only thing i can do is to swich from "normal" to "deaf and hearing impaired" ("sourd et malentendant" in french).
So i guess i will have to get used to it

DTS is an audio format, such as AC3 or mp4. This TV doesn't support DTS, so when i play movie (such as MKV file) with audio in DTS, there is no sound (but the video is ok).

Noob Question: Problem with Persistence in First Entity Bean

Hey folks,
I have started with EJB3 just recently. After reading several books on the topic I finally started programming myself. I wanted to develop a little application for getting a feeling of the technology. So what I did is to create a AppClient, which calls a Stateless Session Bean. This Stateless Bean then adds an Entity to the Database. For doing this I use Netbeans 6.5 and the integrated glassfish. The problem I am facing is, that the mapping somehow doesnt work, but I have no clue why it doesn't work. I just get an EJBException.
I would be very thankfull if you guys could help me out of this. And don't forget this is my first ejb project - i might need a very detailed answer ... I know - noobs can be a real ....
So here is the code of the application. I have a few methods to do some extra work there, you can ignore them, there are of no use at the moment. All that is really implemented is testConnection() and testAddCompany(). The testconnection() Methode works pretty fine, but when it comes to the testAddCompany I get into problems.
Edit:As I found out just now, there is the possibility of Netbeans to add a Facade pattern to an Entity bean. If I use this, everythings fine and it works out to be perfect, however I am still curious, why the approach without the given classes by netbeans it doesn't work.

Well I don't understand this. If Netbeans created a Stateless Session Bean as a facade then it works -and it is implemented as a CMP, not as a BMP as you suggested.
I defenitely will try you suggestion, just for curiosity and to learn the technology, however I dont have see why BMP will work and CMP won't.
I also don't see why a stateless bean can not be a CMP. As far as I read it should not matter. Also on the link you sent me, I can't see anything related to that.
Maybe you can help me answering these questions.
I hope the above lines don't sound harsh. I really appreciate your input.

Question/Problem Sharing iTunes Library between multiple users

Hello all,
I have a question (potential problem) regarding sharing an iTunes Library between multiple users.
In the past, I had placed the iTunes folder in /Users/Shared, and created an alias to it in the "Music" folder of each user, and it worked fine. However, with a recent upgrade to Mac OS 10.5, only the Home user account can access the library.
I read the Apple Support Document http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1203 uner Mac OS X which specifically states *not* to move the iTunes folder, just the iTunes Media folder (which I don't have, would that be iTunes Music?).
Any recommendations? Should I delete the different alias, move the iTunes folder back to the home user, and then follow the instructions in the support document?
We're also looking to sync music purchsed on our iPod touches, as well as apps (which weren't supported in our privous Mac OS X version.
Any advice is appreiciated.

I strongly recommend that you use a password for each login account but primarily for your admin account which will also be required when installing any software that uses an installer and/or for something being installed to the root directory of the hard drive such as a virus would likely require. If you are ever prompted for your admin password out of the blue to install anything without purposely trying to install anything, you should always decline which not having an admin password negates.
Many single users of a Mac have an admin account (obviously and required) but create a login account without admin privileges for every day use as added security.
Besides turning on the built-in Firewall, do not enable any services/ports that you don't need or regularly use and select all options via the Advanced button under the Firewall tab.

Startup disk question/problem

Should the startup disk always be at the top of the list of disks upon startup? Or is it now the case, with 10.5 on a MacBook, that the internal disk is at the top of the list whether or not it is the startup disk?
Situation: New MacBook Mac OS 10.5.8, new Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD3200BEVT 320GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive in an external MacAlly SATA FW/USB case. I erased (formated) the external drive, and, using Restore in Disk Utility, made what I expected to be a clone of the MacBook's internal drive.
Problem: After repairing permissions, using Start Up Disk preferences I selected the new drive as the start up drive. Upon restart I get mixed signals as to which is the startup drive. The original (internal) drive is at the top of the list on the right of desktop but, in the Start Up Disk Preferences list, the new drive is highlighted. (Further: I am able, after right clicking on the internal disk, to select it, to eject it.)
Questions: Have I bought a drive that won't work as a start up drive or doesn't Disk Utility Restore in 10.5.8 create a bootable drive as in 10.4 or does the internal disk always show up at the top of the list on the desktop in 10.5.8? When I swap the drives, putting the new drive in the MacBook, will it boot?
This procedure for swapping new drives has always worked with my Macs thru Mac OS 10.4.11.

Check with Western Digital (the FAQs on their website) whether that hard drive is bootable on your Mac. Not all of them are.

Question/Problem with BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST in TAXACCOUNT with TAX_CODE

I've got a problem when I use bapi BAPI_ACC_DOCUMENT_POST.
The vendor accounts with general leader accounts associated are implemented in the position of table ACCOUNTPAYABLE and the general leader accounts go to table GLACCOUNT.
Refering to positions with vendor number I introduce the Special G/L Indicator and after this i execute bapi.
It is said I have to put the TAX_CODE in tabla TAXACCOUNT and the field AMT_BASE in table CURRENCYAMOUNT.
But when I use transaction FB01 to cread fi documents in vendor positions I don't
have obligation to introduce the TAX_CODE and afterwards I look for the document in table bseg. I can watch the field MWSKZ is blank.
Another question : I think I can find the amt_base in currency amount with the function: CALCULATE_TAX_FROM_NET_AMOUNT

I've resolved the question.
It depends of the special gl indicator. If it is 8 or H it doesn't need to be introduced the table taxaccount.

It works fine looping thru the questions... And inserting...
Problem occurs - when I want them to go back and answer the ones that were 'No'...
So it might only be 3 questions instead of 10...
So that is where my loop errors...

Hotspot question / problem

My problem is i got all the pictures hotspots and their links to work in browser preview but not in any where else i dont want to upload it as a lay out or anything i just want it uploaded to my photobucket or tinypic etc for my myspace profile so my question is how do i make the links work on photobucket and myspace i know it can be done cuz i seen uploaded clickable pictures in photobucket on profiles

A .swf file is a Flash file. A Flash files is not simply an image and can contain active code, such as monitoring mouse position and launching a Web page when the mouse is clicked within a certain area. That's what you need to create, then.
If you have Flash, and know how to use it, then that's your better choice. Fireworks can export graphics and animations in Flash format, but I don't know if it will maintain the linking action. I guess it's worth a try. Open Help in the program, search for flash and read, "Exporting Fireworks graphics and animations as SWF files."
If that doesn't work, and you know you can produce the result you want from Photoshop, then maybe the better option would be to figure out how to do it again.

Question: Problem with Final Cut & DVCAM connection...

Every once in a while for some reason I can't see my timeline on my monitor. I have it hooked up through firewire from my computer to my DVCAM and then from the DVCAM to the monitor. The only time it will play on the monitor is if I'm Printing to Video. It just stopped working for no apparent reason.
I tried replacing the firewire...I tried unplugging and restarting the DVCAM and restarting the computer. I'm just wondering if there is a setting that i'm missing that I may have accidentally switched. (Highly doubt it). It's also happening to a co-worker of mine.
Anyone else ever had this problem or know of a possible solution??

Jumpstart questions/problems

OK fellas - hopefully this is an easy one for ya...
I have a jumpstart server successfully set up using 12/02 release of Solaris 9...I want to be able to boot net - install and come back in an hour or so and be looking at the console login prompt.
My jumpstart process works perfectly save for one small issue...I do not know how to automate the "autoshutdown" question and "reminder" question prior to the last reboot (hopefully everyone knows the questions I am referring to). I have a finish script that works to a tee as well....if I can get this one problem resolved, I will have my environment complete.

I'm working with an application that generates a lot of logging. When I'm trying to figure out problems in the application it's hard to read the log files because they get updated/overwritten all the time.
The mechanism of the RollingFileAppender of log4j is that when the maximum file size is reached a new log file is created with <filename>.1 and the name of every file that already existed is increased with 1.
So when I try to read my logfiles they get overwritten while I'm reading it because the application generates a new logfile sometimes 4 times per minute. That's very annoying, so what I would like to have is that everytime a new logfile is created it's number is increased with 1 until a maximum of files and then start over.
I've been trying to find this mechanism somewhere but can't find it. The DailyRollingFileAppender kinda does what I want but you can't set a maximum of files and I can't have that because of the space available on the server.
Does anyone know how to solve this?

I've been trying to find this mechanism somewhere but
can't find it. The DailyRollingFileAppender kinda
does what I want but you can't set a maximum of files
and I can't have that because of the space available
on the server.What stops you from introducing another periodic process, to purge old log files? That's what most would do.

Captivate 2.0 Questions/Problems

Several problems/questions with Captivate 2.0
1) When I insert any type of animation, I am unable to use
the menu options (File, Edit, View, etc). I have to close the
program and open the file again.
2) When I import slides from PowerPoint, sometimes it will
only grab 1, 3, 7, 15, or all slides. It's hit or miss.
3) Anyone know how I can add an 'Audio Replay' button? On
text heavy slides, I want students to be able to click on a button
and replay the audio clip.
4) Insert question slides 'back' button does not function
when the submit button is pressed.

For the animation/menu bit, simply click to place focus on
any object in the library (Image or Animation or audio file). Once
focus is placed there, your menus should stabilize. (That is, until
you interact with another animation object, then you will have to
repeat this process. But it beats restarting the application.
Not sure what to tell you about the PP import issue. Can't
say I've ever seen it happen. I vaguely recall someone reporting
this issue here in the forums once or twice, but I'm not sure if
any resolution was ever found.
For an "Audio Replay", I'm thinking you have audio on the
slide itself. So what you can do is to insert a really really short
slide just before the slide. Then point the button at this new
slide. Effectively, the button is clicked by the user, the slide is
displayed and progresses directly into the slide with the button.
Bottom line is that the audio replays as the slide is played over!
For the back button to work, you may need to examine the Quiz
Manager and allow backward movement.
Hopefully one or two things here were actually helpful...

If you previously created a valid rescue email address, send the reset email to it, wait a few hours, and check its spam filter. 3 sucurity question problem

When i try to buy something on my ipod i get taken to a page asking me to choose 3 questions to awnser.problem is it wont let me click on choose ,i went into my apple account changed my security question and there is only one question to change in there?? I can not buy nothing as i cant get passed this 3 security question rubbish

Go to www.versiontracker.com and download Pacifist. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the Print & Fax preference pane from the file archive on the Tiger DVD, and install it in the /System/Library/Preference Panes/ folder.
Download and install the 10.4.3 Combo Updater. This time before running the installer do the following:
Boot from your OS X Installer. Be sure to use the installer for the version of OS X you have installed. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu if using Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.1.1 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Now reinstall the 10.4.3 Combo Updater.
