1Z0-051 exercises for preparing the exam

Hello, I'm preparing for the 1Z0-051 exam and It could be useful for me some link o similar with exercises about SQL.
Thanks in advance.
Regards.

What you are asking for and what the original poster was is 'guided practice'.  The only thing that really fits that description is lab exercises. Generally these are only created as part of a class.  I don't know of anyone that creates labs and puts them online.
I always encourage candidates to load Oracle XE on their computer and practice with the topics covered on certification exams, If you have any certification book for 1Z0-051, it will have some SQL examples inside it.  They probably won't be labs which tell you exactly what to do in a step-by-step fashion. However, you can execute the same SQL on your machine if you have an Oracle instance.  The Oracle sample schemas are available online.  My study guides have a sample schema that can be downloaded from my website.  I believe the Oracle Press 051 book likewise has a schema (or possibly it uses the sample schemas).  Just typing in the examples straight from the book is a start.  You can then play with those examples -- varying them to see what works and what does not.  For example -- if an example shows a multi-table select the INNER JOIN syntax, take that SQL and modify it to the USING syntax or the NATURAL JOIN syntax.
The 1Z0-051 exam is all about the capabilities and syntax of SQL... basically what can and cannot be done. Much of this is really memorization of the syntax and certain facts -- like what clauses a subquery can appear in. Executing working SQL and then modifying it to see what works and what does not can help to cement those facts in your memory.

    Dear Experts,
can we prepare the master data templates by using the tables? if its possible means how we can prepare and what we have to considered ? is it right way or wrong?
please suggest me to prepare the masterdata templates for ever use. if any small corrections we can correct it at usage time.
    please help me
    thanks a lot in advance

    Dear Jalu,
Master data Templates have to be prepared based on Client's requirement after understanding their Business.
For example, in Equipment master there are ~ 60 to 70 feilds, no client requires all of them. Some are inherited.
After client requirement freezing, record LSMW and based on that prepare the Template.

  • Does 1Z0-001 fit the requirement of 11g DB OCP requirement (1Z0-051)?

    Dear Sir:
Hi, I would like to ask 3 questions about the certification requirement of 11g DB OCP.
Please advice me what do I have to do to prepare the OCP exam, thanks a lot in advance.
    Q1:
Does 1Z0-001 fit the requirement of 11g DB OCP requirement (pass 1Z0-001 = pass 1Z0-051)?
    AFAIK, 11g DB OCP requires passing 3 exams: 1Z0-051 (SQL), 1Z0-052 (AW1), 1Z0-053 (AW2) and finishing a hand-on course at least.
I have passed the 1Z0-001 (Introduction to SQL ans PL/SQL) many years ago.
After searching the discussion in the community, I've found 2 relative:
https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2526631  It said :"1Z0-001 will satisfy the SQL requirement."
https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2467872 It said : "I can confirm that the 001 exam will fulfill the SQL exam requirement if it was passed before it retired."
I was confused on that. Please help me to clear it.
Do I have to prepare the exam 1Z0-051 since I have passed 1Z0-001 (an retired exam)?
    Q2:
Please confirm that finishing the SSC (Self-Study Course) DOES NOT apply the "hand-on course requirement ".
It still need to pay more money for an instructor-led (face-to-face) course, right?
    Q3:
Can I just finish ONE course "Oracle 11g Database Administrator Workshop II" from an Oracle authorized education center to fit the " hand-on course requirement " ?
Sorry I have to ask this because the budget consideration.
    Thank you very much!
    Steve C.

    Q3:
Can I just finish ONE course "Oracle 11g Database Administrator Workshop II" from an Oracle authorized education center to fit the " hand-on course requirement " ?
A1 -- Yes, if you passed 1Z0-001, you do not need to take 1Z0-051.  When courses are retired, it simply means they are no longer given to *new* students.  Anyone who passed them still retains credit for having done so.
A2 -- Self Study CDs do not count for the hands-in requirement.  On the approved courses page of OU, it specifically states: "Self Study CD-Rom and Knowledge Center courses are excellent study and reference tools but DO NOT meet the Hands-on Requirement for certification."
A3 -- Only one course is required for the 11G OCP.  That one is on the approved list and so will be acceptable if the vendor is authorized by OU.

  • Online exam about 1Z0-051

    Hi,
After preparing for 3 weeks, I would like to take an exam in 1Z0-051.
I prepared through 1Z0-051 exam guide. Is it enough to study for an exam or anyother oracle guide may need to take exam?
I need some practice tests also. So, please suggest me, for practice tests.
What are the procedures to take exam 1Z0-051 in home?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
The exam guide comes with a practice test that you can do. There is also a 10 question sample on the exam page (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=303&p_certName=SQ1Z0_051). Assuming you score highly (80%~) on both of those at the first attempt (doesn't count when you already know the answer) then I'd say you're ok to take it.
You can book the exam from Pearson Vue's website: http://www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/
If you're taking it from home then you specify "non-proctored" and go through the steps from there.

    Link:http://www.mhprofessional.com/product.php?cat=112&isbn=0071597867&cat=112
Please what do you think ?I dont know what your background is, but you would probably need to organise some training and background as well.
You also need to to attend and get verified Oracle approved training to achieve DBA OCP
.... One step at a time though, and OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide (Exam 1Z0-051) is good value for low investment. But you may need to checkout other training.
The training link mentioned in an earlier post link may or may not be effective, however I do not believe it covers the oracle verified training pre-req to achieve DBA OCP.
Worth checking https://workforce.oracle.com/pls/wdp/new_home.main to see if there is cheap (not always best quality) training available near you.

  • Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051 (Oracle Press).

Hi, I am planning to appear in the 1Z0-051 test. and got the book (OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051 (Oracle Press). this is an old copy, and does not have the CD with the sample exam.
Are the questions on the exam CD same as at the end of the book, or are those different than those in the book. I don't want to buy the book, if I don't have to.

Saying that you do not want to buy a book does not endear you to the auhors
Nore that I am only a part author of that one, my colleague Roopesh was an equal (or greater) contributor.
I have not gone through the material on the CD, but I was under the impression that it was the same as the printed content. Certainly what I have seen of all the illegal copies that criminals put up on web sites for thieves to download suggests that. THere are other sets of a few hundred questions on the McGraw-Hill website, I think if you can demonstrate that your copy is legal you will have access to them.
Overall, I would make two suggestions. First, do not rely on dummy questions. They are not the real thing (which would be illegal) and all they do is lt you confirm that you have studied the relevant material. There is absolutely no point in repeating them unil you get all right, which is what some people do. Second, do not do that exam at all, it is out of date. Do the 1z0-061 exam insead. Roopesh's book http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0071820280 is excellent.

  • OCA - Choice between  1Z0-144,1Z0- 047 and 1Z0- 051

    Hello everyone,
I am a developer working on Java EE and our DB is Oracle 10g.
I intend to take an exam that prepares me for :
    1. Writing DDL,DML and usage of functions
    2. Creating cursors,procedures,triggers,indexes etc.
    3. Focus on writing efficient queries - sub-queries,joins,manipulating BLOBs etc.
    4. Creating & using Java-like 'collections' in the DB
Given the above requirements, I decided to go for OCA certification. I realized the following path from Oracle's site :
    _1Z0-047_ Oracle
    Database SQL Expert
    OR
    _1Z0-051_ Oracle Database
    11g: SQL Fundamentals
    I
    AND
    Program with PL/SQL
    _1Z0-147_
    OR
    Oracle Database 11g:
    Program with PL/SQL
    _1Z0-144_
Now,I am quite unsure as to which exam I must target first.
Given my requirements, please suggest the best approach( I know the basics of PL/SQL )
    Thanks !

Thanks for the replies, guys !
Just to prevent the fragmentation of the information, I am posting my further question in this thread itself.
My objective now is to consolidate the study material for 1Z0-051.
After scanning the previous threads, I got the following suggestions :
OCA Oracle Database 11g SQL Fundamentals I Exam Guide: Exam 1Z0-051 (Osborne ORACLE Press Series) by John Watson and Roopesh Ramklass
SQL Developer guide from the oracle documentation at http://tahiti.oracle.com
OCA: Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Associate Study Guide: (Exams1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052) ISBN-13: 978-0470395127 sybex.
I prefer to read a certification oriented book to get started and the other stuff - forums, documentation, references for practice.
Hence, please suggest the appropriate study material.
    Thanks !

  • Is the Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 enough for preparing for the 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-144 Exams?

I am planning on getting certified as an OCA PL\SQL developer. I will be teaching myself and I have all the material needed to prepare.
Except, I don't have a database that I can solve exercises on and practice commands.
The two exams I will be taking are the :
1Z0-051 exam: Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
1Z0-144 exam: Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL
So is the Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 is enough ?
If it is not what other options do I have (I am running Windows 8.1) ?

Yes -- 11gXE should be sufficient for practicing the vast majority of the skills required for those two exams.  I *think* that PARALLEL is not enabled in XE, so you could not test the functionality referred to in the "Use NOCOPY hint, PARALLEL ENABLE hint and DETERMINISTIC clause" topic of 1Z0-144.  I don't consider that to be a significant problem, however.  The material from the manual should suffice for the questions you'll see.
As for what other options you have, you could download and install VirtualBox (free from Oracle).  You could then make a virtual machine on your Windows 8.1 machine and install Oracle Linux (free from Oracle).  You could then download and install Oracle Enterprise for Linux and install it on your virtual machine (allowable under the licensing when used for learning purposes only).  I have a similar setup on my Windows 7 laptop that I use when I absolutely have to test some feature that requires Oracle Enterprise.  Mind you, when I have the VM running on my system... it is ssssslllllloooooowwwwww because of the memory requirements.  I talk about using virtual machines as a certification aid in the following article:

  • 1z0-051 Dealing with the exam

    Hi

    Amr Halima wrote:
thnk you for response I've read the resources you support me with, and still have some questions:
    1) How can i review the unmarked questions if i discover that my answer is wrong ??
Its actually a while since i took an oracle cert exam, and the last one i took the 'skin' had changed so it was a little different to the classic style. But the basics are the same.
I dont have a exam in front of me as i write this.
There are buttons to go through to NEXT and PREVIOUS questions. If you are at the end of the exam and wish to go to the beginning the thats a lot of previous buttons. But you an goto the review page at the end and jump to the question you require.
You have the option of tagging any as marked for review. The idea is if you have time at the end you can focus your review the questions you have tagged
The final page (and there may well be a button to go this on every page, but dont quote me) while have the means to select
whether you wish to review all questions: all 'unmarked' questions, or 'all tagged for review' questions. The way this worked varied
on the last exam i took; the previous classic style use to show all questions with a checked and a colour to show if the question
had been answered and had been tagged for review. The last exam i took i think the final page worked with buttons used to filter
the questions it dsipayed to just to from between:
    - All questions
    - Questions not fully answered.
    - Questions not tagged for review.
A question is not fully answered if the candidate has not given a sufficient number of answers to which satisfies the question criteria.
    To demonstrate this:
    - Let us consider the question:
Q.34 Choose the following cities where they are not the capital city of the associated country:
A: Dublin is the capital city of the Republic of Ireland
B: Beijing is the capital city of India
C: Moscow is the capital city of Russia
D: Washington is the capital of England
    Select the best two answers:Notes:
    (1) Now B and D are obviously the correct answers, and A and C incorrect.
    (2) Be aware that maybe 3% of candidates as this point would have failed to read the question correctly and will mark A and C as correct, +(Quote(my old Chemistry teacher): if all else fails read the question)+.
    (3) If the candidate only checked one answer, say 'C' then this question would appear on the list of unmarked questions for review and the candidate would not receive marks for the question.
    (4) The the question had said select one or more correct answers and the candidate had checked C only, then the question would NOT appear on the list of unmarked questions. In general high exams such as OCP will contain more questions of the form select one or more possible answers.
You may find it is possible to grey incorrect answers by right clicking them. This can be useful to focus on the correct answers. You can actually do the same thing by writing it on the marker board you are given.
Let us say I come to the question above. Let us say I know for sure 'C' that Russia is the capital of Moscow is true so i eliminate that (Either right to grey it out or write Q34: C-X on my marker board. I know London is the Capital of England so therefore +D: Washington is the capital of england so i check 'D' as I know that is correct.  But let us say i am not sure about A B, which is true and which is false.
    - I mark this question for review as I am not sure about it and perhaps it is worth coming back to later +(If I have time)+. I might make a mark Q34 capitals on by marker board so i know which one to come back to. Even if i dont know the last answer i need to mark i will have wanted to have guessed it by the time i finished the exam. I would certainly want to have made a guess by the end of the exam, so if i am running short of time i would guess as I might not have time to return, if i am well up on time i might leave it unmarked for now.
    - One danger of greying out incorrect answers is one may forget to check the correct answers. I remember finishing an exam and discovering on the review screen i had not answered a question. I had greyed out the wrong answers but forgotten to check the right answers! i would have gotten no marked, as it is checked answers that count. Please be aware greying out of answers are only a help to the candidate and may not be present on all exams
    - Sometimes drag and drop answers may also be present. There may also be exhibits to view; and you should note how these may be tiled onto the screen. Beware of spending too much time looking at these.
    2) for multi choice questions if i have a - choose all that apply- question and i've chose just one answer and it was right .Do I take a part of the mark of the question??
and if i chose all the right answers and one wrong .Do i loose all the mark of the question??In all cases if you fail to select all correct answers you will recieve no marks for the question
    >
what's the grading policy?? i didn't find a topic about this
With Oracle Certification exams one either passes or fails. The pass percentage appears on your exam score report. It does not appear on your certification. The pass mark is chosen after reviewing the exam at the end of beta testing stage, and may be adjusted in production if a revision is demeed necessary.

  • May i go for sql expert(1Z0-047) exam or 11g sql fundamentals 1(1Z0-051)

    Hi all,
Please suggest me, may i go for sql expert(1Z0-047) Test or 11g sql fundamentals 1(1Z0-051) Test with
    oracle Administration 1(1Z0-042) Test.
Which will be the best option.
    Thanks & Regards

You may use either exam along with the Oracle Administration 1 (1Z0-042) exam if your goal is to get a 10g DBA OCA credential.
The SQL Expert exam is quite a bit more challenging than the SQL Fundamentals exam. On the other hand, the SQL Expert exam gives you a separate SQL Certified Expert credential. If you can pass it, you should take the SQL Expert exam.

  • Study source for 1Z0-051 exam Oracle11g SQL Fundamentals certification

    Greetings,
What are some good sources for this exam that are legit. I have the OCA/OCP Oracle Database 11g All-in-One Exam guide, read the whole section regarding SQL and have practiced the test questions until I scored 100% multiple times. Yet (with all humility), I failed the exam. I don't want to cheat and will keep trying until I pass it the right way! I'm going to keep studying the areas I need to really master., but I noticed that the real Exam was nothing like the practice exam. For me, the real exam was a lot trickier and there were a few questions that the book didn't cover. The guy working at the test center recommended testking but upon further research, some sites consider using testking as cheating. I have not purchased any new study guides and would like feedback to some legit study guides. Is the transcender study guide legit and worth it? Please pardon me if this question has been asked a dozen times. I will scour the forums for more info regarding this but also wanted some direct feedback.
    Thank you,
    A mon

A monI was going to say possibly the cheapest way is buy the sybex Book : ISBN-13: 9780470395127 which is like the Watson Book ... but it isn't that cheap andalso coves 1z0-052 which you don't need.
( Selftest Sofware is reputed to be good, Transcender a little better (they are both Kaplan Brans and overlap common material). Ucertify may be cheapter but quality may be less. And make sure you get the right site and not a phishing link pretending to be them.
.... wsa it you who i said to try the exam and see where you were really at ? .. if so sorry and better luck next time. Perhaps though it is an opportunity to revise study technique.
    See: http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/question_of_the_day_how_to_pre
.... Doing your own flash cards and notes can be useful.
I always regard practice questions as precious and leave it as late as possible in study before doing questions.
(If you must peek ahead choose a chapter just before half way through the book and do end of chapter questions for that only).
But I won't even do end of chapter practice questions until I think I know the whole exam topics and have notes on all the material.
Only when I think I know it all will I do even end of chapter questions.
And I wont do them if I have read up on the topics during the day. I will wait until the next day.
And after doing end of chapter results I re-read the chapter and topics and practice. But I wont redo those questions for a few days
And only when I get good enough practice score from the chapter do I take a full practice test.
Basic principle is concentrate on learning and use the precious study ids to fill the gaps. It's a little slower getting there that way but these is more chance of a pass.
