2.2.1 download timed out
I have tried three times to download and install the iPod software update 2.2.1 and have been unsuccessful. Each time the software downloads and the download appears complete (the circle with the arrows disappears, the horizontal bar marches up to 277.7 MB then disappears, etc). But then nothing happens. I wait and I wait (one time it was more than 30 minutes) and the install is not initiated even though my iPod touch is still connected and appears as a device. Then, if I click another item in the left hand panel of iTunes, I get an error message that the server timed out. When I close the error message window, the download selection disappears from the left hand panel and the file is no where to be found. When I click "Update" again on the Device menu, the download starts again from the very beginning.
Any advice to help me resolve this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Jim

Why is my Adobe Flashplayer download timing out at 47%?
I'm trying to connect my daughter's Leap Frog Leap Pad to the computer. It tells me that I need to update my Adobe Flash Player to the latest version. My computer tells me I already have this version installed- 11,7,700,169-. I ask it to update Adobe Flash Player anyway-- and the download always "times out at 47%". I don't know much about computers...what is the problem?Any help would be appreciated.

Software updates downloads timing out
I have a 17 in. MPB bought in August 2007 and Im having a problem downloading certain firmware and software updates. they time out...Do I need a faster network? or is there a setting that I can expand my download times? Im thinking about going to at least an N network anyway I have a G right now, will that help?
Message was edited by: golfermacThe speed of your Wi-Fi network isn't the problem - even 802.11b wireless is faster than most home internet connections, and even the fastest home internet (with premium pricing from the ISP to match) is slower than 802.11g. The only advantages with N wireless are for local file transfers (e.g. Time Machine backups) and increased range.
The problem may still be with your ISP/internet connection (just not the one between your computer and your router). Have you tried doing the download(s) elsewhere? Have you tried applying only one update at a time? -

Try a direct download:

Manually install it by holding your "Option" key down when clicking on the "Restore" button in iTunes and select the firmware file you downloaded. -
I can't complete my iPad2 update and download, ever. It says my network timed out and I don't know why.
Temporarily turn off any firewall or anti-virus software you have on your PC while downloading.

I can not dowload the new updated software for my Ipod touch 4G. When i do I get an error message that says Network connection has timed out. I have done the trouble shooting steps. Downloaded the latest version of Itunes, and checked network connection
Disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download and update usually resolves the timeout error.

i am trying to update the software on my ipad from 4.2 to 4.3.3 but i cannot get it to download. I get an error message that says the software was unable to download because the network timed out. I have tried to download it 7 or 8 different times and still get the same message. I cannot restore the factory settings either. The same thing happens. Does anyone have any suggestions? It did this when trying to update to 4.2. I don't remember how we were able to get the software to update. Thanks.
Thank you King_Penguin! It worked beautifully. I had turned the firewalls off but not the antivirus. You are great! I am new to this apple community thing so it looks like I cannot mark your reply as "correct answers", but it was. Thanks a ton!

Why can't I update my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1? Every time I try it gets all the way done downloading it; however when it's processing the file the page tells me "There is a problem downloading the software for the iPhone. Network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active. or try again later." and next to the file it has err = -3259. I have tried this 17 times and it won't work. My iTunes is completely up to date. I have made sure that my connection is fine and I have tried turning my firewall off with no avail. This has happened to me before but usually the update will go through after 2-3 tries, never to this extent. I don't know what to do. Help!
Error -3259 is a network timeout error, usually. This article might help:
