2 computers one recognizes IPOD other doesn't! HELP!

I need some help with my Ipod. My Ipod does not connect to my home computer (it did one time, but no more) But, it does connect to my computer at work. All my songs are loaded on the computer at work in itunes but I don't have any more space there and i need to use my computer at home.
I have tried to reset my ipod, but it still is not recognized when i connect it at home. the only thing it does when the USB is connected at home, is it turns the ipod on, but it is not recognized in itunes. What can I do? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

  • One Hotmail Works Other Doesn't - in Mail

I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem, or if there's a way around my problem.
In my Mail application (v2.1), I have multiple accounts.
    1. Home e-mail
    2. .mac account
    3. Hotmail 1 - (university work)
    4. Hotmail 2 - (media production)
They all worked until this morning, and now the fourth account doesn't.
Accounts 3 & 4 are set-up to access my MSN Hotmail e-mails through Mail, but today only the 3rd one works. They are both setup the same way with the following settings:
    Incoming Mail Server: pop3hot.com
    Username: [email protected]
    Password: *****
Outgoing: smtp.btinternet.com (sent through home connection)
But as i've said, the fourth one stopped today, I thought something had changed, so i deleted the account and tried to set it up again like i had before but got the following message.
Trying to log into the POP server “pop3hot.com” has failed. Please make sure the username and password are correct. If you continue, you may not be able to receive any email.
The password and username are correct (i thought that was the problem). I can get further than this, and send e-mails but not receive them through this account. When i select receive message for account, the following pops up:
There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account "MSN" or try again.
The server error encountered was: POP user name "[email protected]" unrecognized.
I've tried all day to see if i can resolve the problem, but since i have no idea what i was doing, i thought i'd come here for an expert to help.

  • Two macs:  One backs up, other doesn't

Now how the heck does this work? I got one macbook that does the time machine backup perfectly. The other one does the "preparing" dance of death. How can I get the one to emulate the other. I changed the name of this macbook last night as well as the name of the time capsule (all alpha, no spaces). It's connecting, just no backup. It also says nothing under "Oldest backup" or "latest backup". Frankly, I don't see the need to backup the whole macbook anyway. I probably should just download a sync program to copy documents, music, pics, etc. But I'm obsessed with making this thing work the way it's supposed to. Help?!

Ok. It seems that if your original sparsebundle file is corrupted (for whatever reason) it will not sync. I deleted the original file and it is currently backing up. Praying that it finishes. Give it a whirl.

  • Two Computers: One connected, the other is not.

I am on a MacBook with Mac OS X (10.4.10) and am home for winter break where my family has a iMac with Mac OS X (10.4.11). I am currently connected to the our wireless internet connection with the iMac and everything is working fine with this computer, the MacBook is a different story. The AirPort says that I have full service to the same wireless internet that the iMac is running from, but it won't connect to any type of internet application.
I open Safari with the MacBook and the page appears claiming "You are not connected to the Internet." So I click on the Network Diagnostics button. Under Network Diagnostics, it says that AirPort is green, AirPort Settings is green, Network Settings is yellow and the ISP, Internet and Sever are all red saying failed.
How come I can't connect to the wireless internet with my MacBook, but with the iMac, it works just fine? Any suggestions? Maybe you need more information under this topic? Just let me know what else I may need to include.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Have you looked at the iMac's TCP/IP settings next to the Airport button and see if there is anything different? Compare the two and the only thing that should be defferent is the last 3 sets's of numbers for "IP Address:". -192.168.1.1xx- or something similar. Usually all the info there is self assigned buy the router. The last three are the numbers the routers assign to each computer. Imac is .100, the next .101, and the next .102, etc.
Like the previous person said you might try making another location and start over as it sounds like it's an ISP password problem.
Also at the bottom of the TCP/IP window is a button for "Assist Me" which is another troubleshooter, but i'm not sure if it's the same as the web browser one. Either click on Diagnostics or Assistant to start over.
    Hope this helps

  • Itunes won't recognize ipod nano (6th gen) HELP :(

I have restarted the computer and done everything the 6th gen troubleshooter has told me. I have a packard bell desktop PC, the operating system is Windows Vista and all the USB ports are working. I previously had an ipod on my laptop but itunes did the same thing so I synced it into my desktop and it worked perfectly. I got a new ipod, exactly the same, and plugged it in only to find this again. I have tried everything i need some help. Could it be my white ipod charger cable?

    1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
    2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
    3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
    6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
    7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

  • Ipod update doesn't help

I have now 3times formatted and updated my ipod and it still doesn't work. Each time, when conecting ipod with pc, it tries to actualize it again and when finished i can still not transfer any songs from itunes to my ipod. Can anybody help?

I've never seen (or heard of) the iPod updater automatically launching when you connect the iPod.
The iPod set up assistant sometimes does, and this document addresses that issue.

  • Making PodCasts play one after the other...?

They will repeat indivigually (sp?) but not one after the other.
    Any help would be nice!

If you create a playlist of the podcasts that you want to listen to, then play the playlist, that might work....it does on the iPod.

  • ITunes doesn't recognize IPOD Nano (2nd Gen), but Windows XP does

I'm a longtime happy owner of an IPOD Mini and bought a second Gen IPOD Nano a few months ago that works great. I have two identical P4 Sony Vaios that I back up/clone from one to the other every so often to keep them as identical as possible. It's been some months though since I've backed up/cloned my primary laptop to the secondary, and the 2nd Gen Nano isn't being recognized by ITunes on my primary laptop, only my secondary laptop. However Windows recognizes the Nano just fine on the primary laptop on all 3 USB 2.0 ports (I haven't tried my Mini recently), and I can browse the file system of the Nano, but ITunes just doesn't see it.
As I mentioned, my secondary laptop works just fine with the Nano, both Windows XP AND ITunes recognizes it and can update it, but I don't want to have to use that computer JUST for updating my IPOD, and pretty soon I need to back up my primary laptop to my secondary. I've actually only been holding off on that because I can't get my Nano to be recgonized by ITunes with my primary laptop and don't want to screw them both up. Cloning my secondary laptop to become my primary isn't an option, the file system is many months outdated, I need to get the Nano working with ITunes on my primary laptop.
This is definitely a software/driver/service issue, I can take the hard drive out of my secondary laptop, put it in my primary, and ITunes will recognize the Nano just fine. I can take the hard drive out of my primary laptop, put it in my secondary, and ITunes can't see the Ipod. I've upgraded ITunes twice on the primary laptop in the last few months with no improvement, so that hasn't helped.
I really don't know what else to do at this point, I was under the impression that any drivers needed are installed by ITunes, and as long as Windows recognizes the device (which it does) everything should be fine and ITunes should recognize it. I've checked my services and there is only one IPOD related service that I've found (it's actually called "Ipod Service") and I've confirmed that service is running and starts automatically. I presume that service is needed and isn't a legacy from my IPOD Mini and an old version of ITunes.
If, after digesting the above information, anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. This has gotten to be somewhat annoying.
    Thanks
    P4   Windows XP Pro

Nevermind. I uninstalled ITunes completely as well as the IPOD updater program (I think that's what it was basically called) that was installed on my system. I then rebooted, tested the Nano to make sure Windows recognized it, then tested it (successfully) with Winamp and the Winamp IPOD plugin. It was already working properly with Winamp and the IPOD plugin even when ITunes wasn't recognizing it so there was no change there. Once everything checked out I reinstalled the current version of ITunes and it FINALLY recognized the IPOD. It said there was a new software version available for the Nano so I went ahead and allowed it to download and install the update to 1.1. The update went smoothly and once the Nano restarted ITunes again recognized it. No clue what the problem was that created this error condition initially, but perhaps someone else will benefit from this information. I would have thought that reinstalling ITunes at least 3 times, including 2 version upgrades, would have resolved the problem, but it took removing ITunes and the IPOD software completely to resolve it.

  • Everything deleted & iTunes & Updater doesn't recognize iPod

Yeah, that's my problem. Funny thing is, I didn't do anything to the iPod to cause the problem. One day I was just adding songs to the iPod & using it like a hard drive (things I've done before with no problems) & then I turn it on two days later to find all my songs deleted. It was returned to factory settings when I didn't do anything.
I hooked iPod up to my computer & it's not recognized by iTunes or the Updater. My computer, however, recognizes it & says that the iPod has the memory it did before the problem. I read the article for when iPod isn't recognized by iTunes or iPod, but I don't know if this would also apply because I also have the another problem. I didn't try this yet because I gave my iPod to some one to help me. He couldn't solve my problem so I'm turning it over to all of you.
    Thanks so much!

Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.

Oops, I forgot a step between 7 and 8 ... before syncing the iPhone I need to explicitly send the document back to iTunes on the iPhone, or the changes won't come over at all ...
and then one more thing ... Numbers on iOS does NOT recognize a number of key features of the OSX app, such as conditional formatting ... so after editing my document on iOS and syncing it back to OSX on my Mac, all of those settings are lost (no more conditional formatting, have to do it all over again)
What am I doing wrong ?

  • Multiple computers, one ipod?

New ipod, probably old problem, appreciate help. Using ipod with two computers, each set to manual organization of music in itunes. Wish to get both computers on "same page" and then auto-sync b/c it is apparently a large annoyance to manual sync. Cannot manage to import (tried using flash drive) library from one computer to other one (so that I can then reverse the process and have two computers with same library).

  • Help, Windows recognizes ipod but itunes doesn't

ive tried everything that ive seen listed but nothing seems to work. My issue is that Windows recognizes ipod but itunes doesn't. I would really apprecaite it if someone could help me with this issue.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear this is still happening. I had the same problem until this newest version of itunes. The thing that always worked for me earlier was the re-starting of the ipod service. I have nothing else.
    Good luck
