2+ months and X220 replacement still unresolved

I bought a X220, and after a few months it developed a hard drive 2100 error.  It seems to be a problem in the motherboard, as several working HDD and SSD would not work, but it just works fine with my other Thinkpads.  So now I arrange it for a return to depot.  Normally IBM and Lenovo service has been good, but I think its now very poor.  Here are the events:
May 12 - Arrange for return to depot pickup
May 15 - somehow my request had a hitch and never got a courier dispatched to me
May 17 - finally after the 2nd attempt a box arrives for shipping back the unit
At this point I followed up, about every week about the status of my repair.  It just went on been on hold and waiting for parts
May 28 - have been informed that its still waiting for parts, and that I have to wait until 30 days before it gets escalated
Jun 12 - no progress on repair, I then finally give them another call.  They said they have forwarded me to a CS rep and a CS rep will contact me
Jun 13 - no call or email from CS as promised
Jun 14 - after getting frustrated they give me the CS 0800# and case #.  And I call the CS rep, he proposes to replace the X220 with a X230.  Although I don't prefer this option, I agree thinking I can get a working laptop faster.  The specs was satisfactory to me as it included the important bits for me, IPS, 9 cell, backlit keyboard and he added a few extras.  I was grateful to the CS rep.
Jun 27 - still no shipping details from the CS, all he can give me its on the way.
Jul 4 - CS rep tells me its shipping
Jul 10 - finally I get a tracking # from the CS
Jul 12 - finally the X230 arrives, however it doesn't have an IPS screen but a TN.  My main point of getting the X220 was the IPS screen and 7 row keys.  I was ok not to have the 7 row keys, but still have an IPS on the X230
This is really a disappointing and frustrating experience for me.  Especially I have liked Thinkpad's, recommended them to friends and businesses where some of them has taken aboard of buying Thinkpads.  However these recent experience I have, has greatly diminished my opion about Lenovo and Thinkpads.
The Thinkpad hardware has taken to be consumer like laptop.  This is not too bad for me, however the service is getting poor as well.  I am not sure why would a Thinkpad better than a normal consumer laptop?  The hardware is not as standout as before, the service seems to be just as poor now.
Its also sad that I have to post these events on public while the CS rep could not reasonably fix my original request.  All I want is my X220 to be repaired in a reasonable time (2-3 weeks), however it seems Lenovo's CS is getting unreasonable. 2+ months and its not yet even properly resolved.  If there are any CS monitoring this forum, you can lookup my service # 8001097508 and CS # 00333949
Anyone also experiencing poor service experience with Thinkpads lately?

Just updating my post.  I would like to thank lead_org in giving my some contact for Lenovo.  After getting in touch with the manager, she started to handle my service request directly.  She tried to get the parts for my old X220 and at the same time ordered another X230.  She was very prompt and kept me well updated on any new developments.  Today I get the correct X230.

    I understand how a large bill can be unexpected and unwanted. Does the bill advise as to the reason the bill is higher? Does it say how much data you went over on your plan? What plan are you currently on?

  • Two Months and Text Messaging still not working!

    Why oh Why doest though treat me this way...... I have called 6 times about this issue. One night I was sitting on my couch play a game on my cell phone device.... I have the connect app on this phone. a message popped up that my text messages had been deleted..... so I cleared off the notification and didn't pay it any mind. the next day, I got on my computer and logged in to send a text message to someone... and ALL of my text converstations were gone..... the text I sent gave me an error message.... DELIVERY ERROR with a resend link...... of course it wasn't resending..... so I got on the phone..... the first THREE reps on three different calls.... stated they were escalating it... and I should receive a call back... NO CALL has taken place.... I called again, and again, days later..... my last call was a few days ago on Thursday..... the guy I could barely understand..... kept placing me on hold and giving the impression he was working to resolve.... then I hear someone talking in the background after being on the phone for an hour to no avail and telling me about deleting and downloading text messaging (which I dont know nothing about nor ever seen) he says something and then the phone goes silent...... then fast tone..... they guy HUNG UP on me... no CALL back.... and today my text messaging feature still doesn't work.... My question is.... do ANY of the employees in tech support know what the text messaging feature is.... how it works, how it is accessed, and how to fix it when it isn't working.... WHY are they telling me about deleting this feature ON MY OWN... when this is something built into the voice service on the site and on the connect app..... it doesn't work on either of them.... Can someone FIX IT please....? I am tired of calling for unknown support

    Mine doesn't work either, so you are not alone. I upgraded to X1 a few weeks ago and "activated" the text messaging service the other night. I'm still not able to send or receive messages from any location, be it the app, website, or various other methods. It seems Comcast just loves offering faulty products. (This is probably the 4th or 5th time in a row their service has failed to correctly work for me since I decided to upgrade, thinking it would resolve a previous issue they caused...)

    If you feel the restore process is not progressing, all you can do is stop it and try again.  To stop the restore, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup and tap Stop Restoring iPhone at the bottom.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts.  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.

    I want to send back my macbook air back to apple store. The problem is that I bought it from US and now, I'm using it in Myanmar. If the program is free of charge for my device, it's worth trying to send back to US. Since mine is broken, I'm afraid Apple will take charges for reparing.

  • I was hotlined for no reason, it's been over 3 months, over 10 phone calls, and my account still has a "hotlined" indicator on it

    This feedback includes more of my overall history, however I felt the need to share this recent experience of being hotlined, when it wasn't even my fault, the company admitted it, said they would take the "hotlined" indicator off of my account, and have failed to do so after several escalations:
    I am sure my experience lately is nothing unlike anyone else’s experience. For the most part my experience with Verizon has been a bit of a roller coaster to say the least. When I first started my service almost five years ago, I ended up losing a phone number I’d had for about five years due to a technical mistake they made during the contract process and having to witch phones about four times. From there, I had billing trouble every month for the next 18 months. I had to call in for some kind of adjustment just about every month until I was due for an upgrade in December 2011. I upgraded to the Motorola Droid Razor, a choice I have regretted ever since.
    So for the next 18 months I had well over 24 replacement phones for the Razor, until about August of 2013. I was offered by Verizon (via Motorola) to “upgrade” to the Razor M. It was a newer phone, only a bit smaller than the original Razor. I didn’t know it had 50% less internal memory than the original Razor, so I asked Verizon to send me the Razor in place of the Razor M, so that I could at least used the phone as I had intended. Not even a few days after I got the replacement Razor, it fell off my bed (less than 3 feet off the ground) and the screen shattered. Since I had not yet sent back the Razor M, I just re-activated it and called Verizon to let them know.
    Okay, now let’s back track to October 2013. I had to replace another phone on my plan, a Motorola Droid Bionic, and we had ordered a new S.D. card for it. We got the replacement phone and S.D. card, I found out that the S.D. card was a kit that came with a card reader to plug into my computer, however it was also about $55. I sent the S.D. card back and the broken Bionic, and of course tracked both boxes. Verizon received both boxes within a few days, but only inventoried the phone. It took them almost 5 weeks to inventory the S.D. card. I had them charge the S.D. card to my bill, but since I had sent it back, I paid the bill less that amount, about $55.
    So I had communicated with the financial services department about waiting for the $55 credit, in the event there was some kind of an issue. Even though I had talked to them right before the lines were all suspended, it was still suspended, and no one could explain why. I have called in since November 11, 2013 and I have talked to several people:
    November 29, 2013 – Joanne
    December 3rd 2013 – Ashley
    December 4th 2013 – Melanie
    December 6th 2013 – Maria
    January 24th 2014 – Michael
    February 7th 2014 – Elizabeth
    February 8th 2014 – Amanda
    Since then I have talked to another few more people, all of whom have submitted an escalation to a manager to approve the suspension to be removed from my account. We have all heard the term “hotlined”, which is like a big ugly mark on a customer’s credit and it takes 6 months of on time payments to get it removed. However in my case, it wasn’t even my fault, the company admitted that they messed up and interrupted my service and although they promised over 7 times to get the account fixed, they have still not done it. I still paid the November and December 2013 bill, and the January and February 2014 bill in good faith. Although I have had a number of bills roll over from one month to the next during my 5 year term with Verizon, I have never been in a position where the lines were interrupted due to an error of my own.My service does work, and was turned on right away when I called on November 11th to find out why it wasn't working, that is how I found out about the hotline, talked to a manager and they said that due to it being Verizon's mistake, the hotline indicator should be removed by December 1st, it was not and still is not.
    I have never asked for the company to reverse the mark on my account until now. How is it that Verizon and other companies like them can hold the threat of an early termination fee over the customer’s head, so that if the customer makes a mistake they are in fear of doing it again for fear of being interrupted or disconnected? However the phone companies aren’t held to a similar standard? If the wireless phone companies (whether holding a contract with a customer or not) are not held to a level of responsibility when they make a mistake, then why should the customer?
    So it has been over 3 months since my account was hotlined and the mistake was made. I have continued to make my payment and even kept my service with them, despite the fact that my contract is over. Because of the hotline I cannot use the edge program to get a new phone and I cannot bill anything to my account until the hotline is removed. As I understand all it takes is a manager to sign off on some document and the hotline indicator is removed. If that is the case, why has it taken over 3 months, and over 8 phone calls and nothing has happened? I just talked to a representative this last weekend in the loyalty department and I have given the company an ultimatum – either get the mark off by the next bill, coming out March 2nd 2014, or I am done with the service.
    I would rather have to purchase a phone outright from another company, and get on a prepaid plan than to bend to accepting the responsibility of the hotline on my service when it wasn’t my fault. I also cannot stand having to switch companies, but in a case like this, I would be a hypocrite if I didn’t.

    Well the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
    The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
    Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.

  • MacBook pro boots to prohibited sign and apple has replaced the Hard drive and it's still didnt fix. They want to replace the hard drive AGAIN?!

    I've had this issue for almost a month now, and they have tried multiple things to fix it from software re-installs to wiping the drive and they replaced the hard drive and cable but now that it is still not working they are suggesting installing another hard drive after it clearly didn't work the last time they replaced it. Help! I've contacted customer relations and the only thing she told me over and over is that they are working diligently to fix it. I'm a music teacher and that is currently the only computer i have and I use July to prep all my lesson plans and music. School starts august 18th and I feel like I'll be back in the store with the same problem again right when school starts. Any suggestions, ill probably be writing a letter very soon, any other suggestions?
    Btw I have tried not backing up from time machine to rule out the possibility of something of mine corrupting it and it still did it.

    Wholly Crap, No Joke, the lady from the apple store called me up at like 5pm and said "You know what?" and my reply was....... "what" and she goes, "You've been very patient and we understand you've been in and out in the last 3 weeks so we've decided to just give you a brand new computer" She gave me a brand new MBP! SO FREAKIN STOKED, my 2008 macbook pro for a new 2011 2.2ghz with 4 gigs of memory (Upgradeable to 8!!) The only downside is that since I use this for recording audio with Pro Tools well as recording audio with Pro Tools I needed the 7200rpm drive like my last one, and with her eyes i felt the "Beggars Cant be choosy" look flow upon me. But I shrugged it off and She actually told me to take this one, use it for the next week while the one she is ordering for me comes in!! So Bottom line IMHO (first time i've ever used that acronym in a forum) Apple Definitely has some awesome customer service!!

  • Verizon Sent me the wrong EIN numbered phone and  has been nearly 3 months and still no refund

    I am still not getting my money back for the phone I ordered and paid for via credit card on 11/29/2010.
    You guys sent me the wrong phone with the wrong EIN number. So I was told by my local Verizon store on 11/30/2010 to send it back (Which I did) and a new phone would replace it (received new phone), The replacement phone was billed to my Verizon account and I was told I would get my money back  once the first phone was returned to you guys,
    I shipped the first phone back via FEDEX on 12/3/2010.
    I contacted customer service on 12/31/2010 and told them I hadn’t gotten my refund yet (REF# 70331329 and was told expect a refund in 24 to 48 Business hours.
    I contacted Customer service (Greta) on 2/6/2011, and she said she saw that the phone had been returned and said it should show up on the next billing cycle.
    I got a new bill on 2/25/2011 and no refund was on the bill.
    I contacted customer service on 2/26/2011 and talked to Jeff, he said He would fill out a TOPS request and he would call me back on 3/2/2011 and as of 3/21/2011 no call has been received from him.
    I called customer service (Aman) on 3/6//2011 and he said I should get my money back in 24-72 hours and I haven’t yet.
    I emailed the Verizon/Boeing contact and he said he has “no teeth “ to do anything about it, and I would need to elevate to at least supervisor level and they should be able to do something about this ………….and he is sorry he can’t help
    It has been nearly 3 months and 4 phone calls by me and I have been told I should get the money back 5 times now. And still no return of my money. I think this issue needs elevating to the top of the company if necessary as this has become a joke of Customer Service from your company.
    It seems that the CUSTOMER is not important to Verizon anymore.
    Please stop giving me the Customer Service run around and actually return my money that I had to pay for the wrong phone that you sent me and then had me send it back.
    Do I need to get legal advice or the Attorney General involved to resolve this?

    Rofl... 1) peer to peer forum... as much fun as your righteous rage is we can't really help (although you will probably get a pm from a rep... keep in mind you can do the same thing throught the 'contact us' link in the upper right). 2) Just as confirmation... you did pay for the second phone separately? 3) Call in, talk to a sup and tell them the situation in a calm polite manner. Have them double check to make sure the phone is showing in the warehouse... that the fedex order is showing as having been returned and that some return refund requests have been submitted... If all of that has been done, and they show it has been returned then some form of credit should be able to be worked out. Oh, I should also say that you may not need to go to a sup. A lot of reps are more than able to take care of this, gauge the confidence level of the rep for the first few minutes (along with how well they are willing to listen to you) before you decide to sup up.

    I have had the same problem. It was cured by turning computer off and/or restarting it. I am not sure  if once was enough. I think shutting down must cut out whatever it is that blocks bluetooth. Good luck
