2 way sync with outlook contacts

how do i configure itunes to do a 2 way sycn with my iphone and outlook 2010?

The sync process for contacts with a supported address book app on your computer is a bi-directional or true sync process, or should be. There is no setting to enable or disable this.

  • Problems with Sync with Outlook contacts and calendar (Office 2007)

I have been able to set up my Blackberry curve with email accounts, but sync with Outlook contacts fails. My device will show as connected, but nothing happens. I continue to get a message if I want to use Mass Storage mode on my phone and I assume this should be checked as yes, then I get a folder showing up on my desktop with "Removable Disk (E, which contains several files.
When Desktop Manager is opened I get message "Initial Plugin: Verifying Applications" "checking the status of the applications on the device. This is only required on the first connection of the device to a new desktop installation" It shows in the same dialog box "connecting to the device (JVM)...
The connection hangs and nothing happens. I have reinstalled software and was even told by Verizon Support to exchange the phone (which I did), but the same issue of non-connection for sync is still there.
    Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

iTunes thread found that sync issue was caused by reoccuring appointments,
Basically you need to modify the reoccuring appointments (and may require to add an end date as this was how the guy made a modification) and then re-sync.

  • BBZ10 2 way sync with outlook

Is there an estimated date for when BB will have an upgrade available for 2 way syncing with outlook (the traditional BB way)?

Hi dbs4u and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
2-way synchronization is available with the latest version of BlackBerry Link (www.blackberry.com/desktop). I'm not quite sure what you are referring to by "Traditional BB Way".
    Thanks.

  • IPhone no longer syncs with Outlook Contacts/Calendar

For months I was syncing with my computer at home for music and videos, then I bring my iPhone to work and sync my Outlook Contacts and Calendar.
Now, when I plug in my iPhone on my work computer, everything operates as it used to, it still says it's syncing contacts, then syncing the calendar, but after it's done, when I look at the calendar or contacts in my iPhone, nothing has changed. It's simply not syncing with Outlook anymore, even though the status bar at the top of iTunes says it is syncing.

It appears I have solved the issue myself and thought I would share the solution in case anyone runs into this problem.
In Outlook, I only have one profile. However, Outlook somehow had some settings changed where it prompted me for which profile I wanted to use each time I started Outlook (even though I only have one profile). Because it was prompting me to choose when I start Outlook, I am guessing that when iTunes tried to access Outlook, it was also prompting iTunes to choose which profile to use as well. Since iTunes didn't know which profile, it wasn't syncing properly (note, iTunes never asks you which profile you want to use).
To fix this, I went to the control panel, double clicked the mail icon, clicked the button that says "Show Profiles". I highlighted the only profile I have listed in the drop-down menu and checked the box that says "Always use this profile".
I then sync'd iTunes with my phone and the calendar and contacts finally updated!

  • My iphone won't sync with Outlook contacts or calendar anymore.  Any idea how to do this now?

I used to be able to sync my iphone contacts and calendar entries (home calendar) with outlook and now it won't work.  How can I fix this?

Does iTunes Show an error message?
How did you setup syncing with Outlook, are you syncing them via iTunes using USB or Wi-Fi or an Exchange server?
For more info on USB syncing and all of the other options, take a look at this Apple doc -> iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
If you aren't sure try setting up USB syncing again, just connect the iPhone to the computer, open iTunes, click the Info tab across the top of the screen, scroll down to Contacts and choose to sync contacts.
    Contacts
To sync contacts with your computer, choose  "Sync Contacts with" within iTunes for Windows, or "Sync Address Book Contacts" on your Mac.
You can sync your contacts with:
Microsoft Outlook 2003, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Microsoft Outlook 2010 (Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7)
    Windows Address Book (Windows XP)
Windows Contacts (Windows Vista / Windows 7)
    Address Book (Mac OS X)
Microsoft Entourage 2004, Microsoft Entourage 2008, or Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac
Note:  If using Microsoft Entourage, use Microsoft Entourage 2008 12.1.2 or later  if syncing with Mac OS X v10.6 or later. If you would like to sync data on your Mac with Entourage, enable syncing between Entourage and Address Book.
    Notes:
When syncing contacts, you can choose to sync all of your contacts or only selected groups. The option to sync selected items may not show up until after the first sync.
You can select a group of contacts to which all new contacts created on your iOS device will be added.
Additional options for syncing include syncing your contacts with Yahoo or Gmail/Google Mail.  You will need to configure it with the user name and password for your Yahoo or Google account.

  • Syncing with Outlook Contacts

Why doesn't the iPhone use the 'File As' name in the Outlook Contacts? Many of my contacts have both an individual and company name and I usually set the 'File As' to the company name as it is easier for me to remember. When I look use the iPhone I can not find that company by its name, I have to remember the name of the person I entered for that company. Am I doing something wrong and/or is there a way to fix this situation.

    Hi Titan,
If you connect SharePoint Contact list to your Outlook through "Connect to Outlook" from list ribbon, then you want to sync contacts addition in Outlook client back to SharePoint Contact list, it should auto sync back to SharePoint list when
we make the changes to the contacts in Outlook 2013 client, if you want to manually sync linked contacts folder back to SharePoint, you can click "Send/Receive All folders" from Outlook 2013 Send/Receive ribbon, then check if the changes have been
pushed back to SharePoint (may need to wait minutes to see the changes from SharePoint list).

  • Sync with Outlook contacts.

    Hi everybody.
I have trouble whith syncchronizing my iPhone (3GS, 3.1.3) with my contact list on my computer (W7 Integral/Outlook 2007). When a contact is modified on my iPhone (added number for a contact for instance), it is not updated on my computer. The same happens when the contact is modified on my computer.
Can one tell me how to fix this.
    Thanks a lot.

I reset the sync history and still can't get contacts or calendar to sync. A friend says that he has also been unable to sync ever since the latest OS was downloaded.
Anything else that I can try? Is there a fix "in the works" for this problem?

  • Cable 2 way sync with outlook

Can we / I sync as I did with my older Blackberry with Outlook?
This does appear to be a problem and is there a solution?

Right now you can sync from Outlook to Z10 but not the other way around.
In a few weeks that capability should be available, though. It's coming.

  • Will we ever see 2-way syncing with Yahoo contacts?

Well, another major update has come and gone, and 1.4 really does have some nice features (and seems at least initially to have improved battery life, which had gotten beyond pathetic for me), but still no ability to make changes to Yahoo contacts on the Pre.  I would have just left my contacts on Google if I'd had any idea it would be this long.  I don't even know if Palm or Yahoo is the holdout, and at this point don't care -- I'd just REALLY like to be able to modify contacts on the phone.  Anyone have any insight at all?
    Thanks,
    -- robert

Only thing I can offer is Yahoo does allow exporting your contacts online. Then you can import that file into google contacts.

  • HT4759 Apple Engineering has been unable to solve "Error 0x80040604". It has been 9 calendar days. I cannot sync with Outlook with contacts and calendar. I see where others are having same problem. Is there a solution?

Has any of the Error 0x80040604 problems been solved?  The onlt response I get is"Apple Engineers are working on it"  I am dealing with a Senior Tech.  Should I go to someone higher?
The sync with Outlook contacts abd Calendar was working well for 6 months. I have iphone4 and mini ipad connected to the iCloud.. My " bandaid "is to only use the iphone 4 for contacts and calendar events.
Is their another Cloud I can use?

I have found a solution to this problem.
FYI - Blackberry cannot sync to Outlook if Outlook is in "Click to Run" mode. Follow the link below for instructions on how to install a full version of Office 2010.

  • Fixing iphone sync with outlook

There are multiple threads about problems snycing iTunes with Outlook (iPad, iPhone etc.).  This affects Outlook calendar and contacts, often creating multiple contact lists and false calendar entires, often pre-fixed "ModGrp" or ModCal".  After multiple tries I think I have figured out what you need to do: here's what worked for me, I hope it works for you.
First the cause.  If your PC/Mac has crashed with Outlook open you probably have bad data in Outlook. Most software is fault-tolerant to this but not iTunes (my seventh software to link to Outlook and the only one not fault tolerant, so I'm certain it's an iTunes problem).  I have written this for solving contact problems with explanation afterwards for calendars (you'll change item 6 and read the footnote).  Read the instructions first so you know what you're about to do.  You will have to rename a folder and delete your iPhones history but otherwise that's about it.
    1)    Download scanpst.exe from Microsoft, instructions are at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227.  Print this, you'll need it at step 5
    2)    Close both Outlook and iTunes
    3)    Got to C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\
In File Manager use Folder Options from the Tools menu and select Show hiden files and folders from the View Tab, if you can't see this folder
    4)    Rename the folder \SyncServices as \SyncServices.old or something.  Once you have finished you can delete this folder
    5)    Use scanpst.exe (step 1 above) to fix your Outlook file.  Instructions for this are at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227 noted above
    6)    When scanpst is complete and has closed, open Outlook and go to your contact list.  Select each ModGrp and hit Delete, then confirm deletion
    7)    Be sure not to delete any contact lists that you want to retain, then close Outlook
    8)    Open iTunes with your iPhone/Pad/iWhatever plugged in to USB and select iPhone/iPad/iWhatever
    9)    Select your iWhatever in the Devices list on the left and select Preferences from the Edit menu at the top
    10)  Click the Devices button in the dialog box and click Reset Snyc History, just in case.  Click OK to close the Dialog Box
    11)  At the top of your iPhone Device window click the Info button (second from the left right at the top)
    12)  Deselect Contacts, Calendars and Mail options so iTunes doesn't sync with Outlook in any way
You'll get a prompt to remove contacts/whatever lists from your iWhatever device.  Choose the Remove Contacts button
    13)  Hit Apply or Sync (bottom right of iTunes).  This should have cleared iTunes of bad ModGrp sync lists and iPhone contacts etc.
Next we'll restore these from Outlook
    14)  Reselect to sync with Outlook Contacts, Calendars and Mail - the options you deselected in step 12.  Hit Apply or Sync
The above should restore all the valid contact and other data from Outlook onto your iPhone etc
    15)  Once sync has completed reopen Outlook and check the bad MdGrp lists have gone.  Unplug iPhone and check you don't have multiple ModGrp lists
I haven't had calender problems but my understanding from posts to this forum is that in step 6 above, you may have to export the appointments calendars from your calendar and then delete the calendar.  It's much more involved than having a contacts list problem.
If you choose to tidy up aftwards, go back to steps 3 and 4 and delete the backup .old folder as iTunes created  a new one when you opened it at step 8.
I have run the above three times now and it works every time.  Since every tenth or so time I open iTunes it causes my PC to lock, usually with Outlook open, so I expect this to be a frequent event.  iTunes is well documented as a digustingly bad piece of software and seems to be the penalty we pay for having an iPhone, which actually works.  Maybe when Apple adopts Flash I'll buy an iPad and double the number of times I have to run it, but not otherwise.  iTunes and Flash are the two main reasons I have not bought a Mac or iPad.
    Have fun.

Hi, to remove dummy '_ModGrp' entries, rather than crashing the 'Suppr' key on your keyboard, you can use this basic VBA macro (launched for instance from Excel).
It will recursively remove all '_ModGrp...' folders
    Sub RemoveFolders_Click()
        Dim oOutlook As Outlook.Application
        Set oOutlook = New Outlook.Application
        Set objNameSpace = oOutlook.GetNamespace("MAPI")
        Call CleanFolders(objNameSpace.Folders)
    End Sub
    Sub CleanFolders(objFolders As Outlook.Folders)
        For i = objFolders.Count To 1 Step -1
            If Left(objFolders(i).Name, 7) = "_ModGrp" Then
                objFolders.Remove( i )
            Else
If Not objFolders(i).Folders Is Nothing Then
                    Call CleanFolders(objFolders(i).Folders)
                End If
            End If
        Next i
    End Sub

  • Z10 sync with Outlook

Did the recent update include a fix to allow the Z10 to sync with Outlook?
    Please advise......

No, not if you're intending to sync with the desktop standalone Outlook.
RIM has stated the ability to transfer your data from Outlook to the Z10 is coming a few weeks (and that was about three weeks ago) and later would come two-way sync with Outlook <> Z10.
    So, for now, no.
There are workarounds (some good, some complicated) if you need to ask further questions, please do.
