2014 Photosmart b210 networked printer can't scan

You might want to switch this over to a different forum .... doesn't have anything to do with laptop or notebook. .. sorry.
I have a Photosmart Plus All in One Printer Scanner.  The printer is wired to my computer using USB and OS is Windows 7. Recently, my husband got a new computer with Windows 8.1 on it.  I've managed to get the printer networked with his computer to print, but it doesn't scan.  Windows Fax and Scanner doesn't work. The Scan app in HP programs doesn't work either.  Just doesn't find a scanner.
I've tried sticking a shortcut of hpscan.exe on his desktop, but that didn't work either.  I've tried all the HP help programs and they can't find a scanning device either.
It would just be nice to be able to scan something from his computer.
I tried to connect the printer through wifi, but it never found the printer or the printer never found his wifi connection. Found everyone elses in the neighborhood, but not his. So I turned it off.
It's networked with wired through our D-Link routher.
Has there ever been a working fix for all in one printers AND scanners?

Hi ElWel,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Photosmart Plus e-All-in-One Printer - B210a not scanning to Windows 8.1 computer. I would try to first install the drivers and software. Here is a link to the software.
If that does not resolve the scanning try the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.

  • After the new 10.9.2 Maverick upgrade, my Photosmart C4480 3 in 1 printer can not scan and save the file to desktop or documents.  You can only see the image in the print preview area. Does anyone know how to fix this or when a fix will be out?

After Aple support downloaded the new 10.9.2 Maverick upgrade on my MacBook Air, my Photosmart C4480 3 in 1 printer can not scan a document and load the file on to my desktop or document file. (You can see the doc image in the preview but it doesn't save it.) Does anyone know an Apple fix for this or when the fix will be out?  After hours of trying reloading, and the usual fixes, etc. Apple told me to call HP, and HP told me they don't support Mac.  It does not seem honorable of Apple to put out an upgrade and not tell people it will destroy their scanning ability, and that the only thing to do is to buy another printer/scanner.

Have you tried using Applications/Image Capture to scan.

Follow steps 1 and 2 of this tutorial and you will be able to get a jpg file for each of your book's pages inported into iPhoto: 06 - Creating an iDVD Slideshow From an iPhoto Book.  If you don't have the Automator workflow Save PDF to iPhoto (which should be in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder) you can download it from Toad's Cellar.

  • My HP Photosmart C309a series printer can't find the wireless router 3 feet above it.

My HP Photosmart C309a series printer can't find the wireless router 3 feet above it.  I ran the diagnostics and got "The wireless radio is not functioning" message.  In what device is the wireless radio located?  In the router? In the printer?  I reset the router, did the #6 with the printer, but I am still unable to connect my wireless Macbook to the printer.  My desktop Mac is connected to the printer with a cable and prints fine.  Is my router messed up or my printer?

Just call HP, they can walk you through the options based on what is wrong with your printer.

  • Installing HP Photosmart B210 (network) fails - posts error 'The Printer Installation Failed'

Hi - I have an HP Pavilion Elite HPE on a home network containing a wireless HP Photosmart B210 printer/scanner.  This setup has been working for >1.5 years, then about 2 wks ago, I couldn't print from any application.  Win7 would post 'cannot communicate with printer'.  Here is what I've done:
    1) uninstalled - reinstalled driver SW multiple times - however, Win7 posts 'The Printer installation failed' at the end of installation.
    2) The HP print and scan doctor finds the wireless printer - but finds no faults or issues. All green check marks
    3) I copied/pasted the webpage address into IE - in the Embedded Webserver home tab it states 'System Error - Network connection error.
    4) scanning works fine wirelessly and if I connect the printer via USB cable - I can print.
    5) I have a Lenovo desktop and Ipad on my network that prints wireless - so it appears the issue is with the Elite HPE only and not the router.
    6) If i'm in Excel and select find printer - i get the error 'The active directory domain services is currently unavailable'
    7) I checked the printer spooler and it is started and set to Automatic.
I want to keep the ability to print wirelessly, however, if I can't fix this, i'll have to permanently connect using USB.  Any suggestions on what is wrong?  Thanks, Rob

Try the Windows system file checker to see if your operating system has corrupt or otherwise damaged files.. The Command line windows needs to have admin priveleges. The following images are from my Windows 7 desktop, but Vista is virtually the same.

  • Can Printer over network but can't scan over network with Officejet 6500 E710n

Got an odd problem... I can print all day via my wireless network, I can even ping my printer's IP with no issues.
I can't scan at all, it keeps giving me connection related error messages (Scanner Unreachable, etc). I checked the "Update IP Address" tool and the IP address was correct. So I figured I would install on a different computer.
I installed using the software from this website (I have never installed this HP printer on this computer, I always did eprinting from this computer), it worked perfectly, it found the printer almost instantly. Installation worked perfect with no issues, errors, etc.
Printed the test page perfectly but I still can't scan over the network, I tried both clicking on "HP Officejet 6500 E710n-z" and clicking on both "Scan a document or photo" and "Activate Scan to Computer" and also I get a connection error if I try the "HP Scan" software.
I ran the "HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility" but it can't find my printer (odd that it found it to install the software and I can print/ping it all day).
I also ran the "HP Scan Diagnostic Utility 4.2" and it DID find the printer... It also got past the "Connectivity" and "Device Manager" steps and put a check next to them.
It then failed on the "Windows (WIA) Scan" step. I skip it and it fails on the "HP Twian Scan" after giving me a connection related error message. It will not let me continue the test.
I have restarted both computers and printer multiple times. I am running Windows 7 on my laptop and Windows XP on my desktop.

I suggest uninstalling the full feature software from both PCs and re-installing and configuring the software on both.
Are you using the HP Solution center to scan? It is in Dutch, but the images are the same as what you should see in a correctly installed full feature software package.

  • Photosmart b109 n-z - can print, can't scan

Help! In a fit of madness I seem to have deleted some of my Photosmart software, and despite trying to download it again, its not working. I can print, but I can't scan. The program that was on my desktop (or the shortcut thereto) wasnt working. It said that installation wasn't complete. It had been working normally for years. I deleted it! When I dowloaded the driver etc again it said it couldn't find the file it needed (?). I don't really know what I'm doing.

Thanks, Jamieson - that worked. The Wiz may have let me down, but the Doc came through. It installed the software, and everything seems back to normal. I owe you a Jameson!

  • If I use my Airport Express to establish a network printer can I print from my IPad and iPhone?

I want to be able to print to a network printer with my IPad and IPhone with IOS 5.0.1.  Seems like there is a limited number of printers that can "AirPlay" from these devices.  I have an Airport Express and I know how to connect a printer and set it up as a network printer, my question is can I wirelessly print from my Ipad and iPhone then.  Seems too easy for what appears to be a limited set of new printers that have that have Thai function built in.

Printopia allows me to print from an iPad2 to any printer that is connected to the USB port of my AriPort Extreme.

  • OS 10.3 with HP Photosmart 4700 series printer - can't get drivers

    Greetings!
I'm trying to get an HP 4750C wireless printer to work with my older Pismo G3 mac, it's running 10.3.9 and won't be running anything higher. (I've set it up for my wife for internet and mail...) I just purchased this HP printer as our older OfficeJet decided to retire. I don't care if it runs wireless or not on her computer.
The installer with HP's printer software is not compatible with OS' earlier than 10.4. I've gotten the packages transferred to another disk, and have installed all components that should matter (I'm not trying to set up scaning, etc.), but still get a "driver not found" error. I did have trouble getting the HPIO Trap Monitor component to install, but think I've gotten past that.
Any ideas? I don't want her to have to e-mail me EVERYTHING that she wants to print... if you know what I mean...

That's a difficult position to be in, since driver support in newer
hardware not available through the manufacturer is troublesome.
{You may end up shopping for a new old-stock printer with the CD
drivers in the box, of a vintage comparable with the Panther 10.3
era; and run with that... and find newer drivers should you wish to
    run the newer computer's printing through that vintage printer.}
Have you tried other printer drivers, such as those from GimpPrint
to see if a similar printer's driver from a different vintage model
would work in this situation? Sometimes an unintended one will.
For printers that are not listed as supported you may still be able
to print by trying the driver for a printer that is similar to yours,
but the results may disappoint you.
    • GimpPrint (Gutenprint) for Mac OS X:
    http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php
There may be a way to use a computer as a printer-server kind of
connection, so the second computer has to see the one that can
use the printer, and (for the most part) may involve some sharing
setup to be employed where the settings would have to be changed
to support the two computers working together, at least to share a
printer. Not sure if that'd work.
The basic File Sharing could save having to email items between
computers, if they are on or could share a local network. Be sure
to only open it as little as necessary to have the sharing work but
not so far as to invite outside access to either computers or files.
Ownership of files may be a minor inconvenience to figure out.
Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer at this point; but I am
almost certain someone reading your post may have more evolved
ideas on making whatever you have work, in some way or another.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Desperate!! Printer issues, Can´t print, can´t scan on my Mac Book Pro.

Have issues printing and scanning from my Mac Book Pro on a Epson Stylus TX110 printer/scanner. This printer used to work fine on my old windows based laptop. However. When tried to install the software from the original disk, on my new mac, got an error message that could not recognized the application (My guess is that software was old.)
Went to EPSON support website, located the drivers for my printer, TX110_scan_3730 GM2.dmg and TX110_115_653APS_C2_GM.dmg
Downloaded them and ran the script and went through the whole process of installing, it said it finished installing both applications, but I can-t find the printing applications or run the scanner...
Desperate... need to scan and print!

You ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below. If you use any iWork applications, you may need to delete them and redownload them from the App Store.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.10 ("Yosemite"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Ethernet network printing- Can't find printers where's bonjour??

Hi i am attempting to set up two printers to connect to my network of apple computers (an imac a mini server, and a macbook air) through ethernet but none of the computers can find them. I know that you used to be able to find them using bonjour but i don't know if apple dis countinued it or just made it difficult to work with. I need help in finding out how to find the printers because the only options i see are either by usb or ip address help please!

I read that article before posting here but I skipped over the part about HPIJS. I'm trying to install foo2zjs now...
I'll report on how it works.
Edit: There was an error when trying to install Ghostscript via the commandline. I'll try to download it separately but I can't say I really know what I'm doing with this part

  • Photosmart B9180 Duplex Printing - Can you do it?

I know duplex printing is not 'supported' but can you do it anyway manually?  What harm would there be?  Have you tried it?

Hello, Support, in this context, means the product driver doesn't have the capability of manual duplex printing. In order for this product to print 13" x 19" media, this product has to push the media out the back of the printer, hence no room for a duplexer. Many of the our other HP consumer and commercial printers do support this feature. Would it hurt the b9180 to print duplexed? No, I just don't know of any easy way to do it. I suppose you could do it by printing one page at a time. Meaning, if you had a 2 page document you would have to send two separate print jobs and rotate and flip the 1st printed page before you sent the second job.
I'm curious, do you have a different idea on how to accomplish this task? If you do, I would be happy to test it out as I have a b9180 set-up here at my desk.

  • Sorry for bringing it up again - Photosmart 7960 Network Printing

I searched the forum and found answers dating from 2003.
I installed the Gimp files and it prints like poo.
    Here is the setup:
    Mac & PC <---> Linksys WRT54G v6 <---> WPS54G/HP 7960
Jobs from the PC print perfectly using the HP drivers.
Jobs from the Mac look like poo. The printer is using the colours to simulate black, so the font is nasty and bolded.
I am going to try to install the HP drivers once more, just in case (Murphy's Law)

If I were you, I'd be complaining to HP. They provide CUPS drivers for linux (the hplip project), but they don't for OS X.
I don't know if it will work any better, but have you tried this CUPS driver set?
