2811 modem disconnecting problem

Hi there am having an issue with digital modems disconnecting on a cisco 2811. The router has PVDM2-36DM card and hwic-1ce1t1-pri E1 interface installed.
The E1 is up and I can dialout but the calls drop after 24-30 secs.
I have issued the debug modem csm and the following output is shown.
ebug modem s csm

What stands out is the following line 'modem not found due to wrong b channel number or b channel is deallocated'
I have attached the full config and in it I have configured the time-slots 1-12,16 This is because the organisation does not have the full E1 but only first 12 channels 16 is the d channel.
Any assistance would be much appreciated
Thanks

Hello folks,
I have found the problem. It seems that the software being used on the server to dial out to the remote devices required a modem initialisation string.
We tested dialing out with a normal windows dialup connection and this work perfectly.

  • Apple USB modem disconnects after a few hours??

I bought an imac G5 -- it came without a modem. (After a false start), we bought the Apple USB modem. Now we want to upgrade the operating system, either with Safari or with "Software Update". It tells us we need Mac OS X Update to 10.4.3, and it is 97.0 MB.
We have a fairly slow dial-up connection -- always have, so we usually download large files like these overnight. But our Apple USB Modem won't let us - perhaps it is too unstable. After 6 or 7 hours we get disconnected. (It says we need 8 or 9 hours to download the file). Our main problem is that we can't stay connected for more than 7 hours.
I've made sure under the Network Preferences, for external modem, the Prompt every xx minutes to maintain connection, and Disconnect if idle for xx minutes, are both unchecked. I've turned off the screensaver. I make sure I move the mouse and a window every hour or so. I've phoned my ISP, and they deny a time-limit. I've tried not breating heavy near the computer.
What else can I do? I've always been able to stay on line over-night for download with my old computer/modem, but not with this one. I've tied at least 4 times. Is there something wrong with the Apple USB Modem?
Also, when I tried with Safari, and the modem disconnects, I thought I could just re-log on and start downloading where I left off -- but no. Every time I click the "resume downloading" circle next to the update in the download window, it starts from the beginning. -- it doesn't resume where it left off!
That is the most frustrating part about this -- I've downloaded the first half of the file a half-dozen times, and no matter if I use Safari or Software Update, I can't get the computer to remember the hours of work it just did and simply continue downloading from where it left off. If I could just solve that issue, I could get the system update downloaded.
If we don't solve this, we will never be able update any apple software with large files. Thanks for your help.
    Francis

it's a 3.5 hour round trip to the closest Mac store.
I just want my modem to work right -- the first time. Actually, this is the third modem I've bought (all on-line since I have no mac store close). The first USB modem didn't have a mac driver. The next bluetooth modem said it was mac compatable, but when it arrived, it was only capatable with os9. So I get a modem right from Apple, and darn, I just want it all to work now. I'm tired of foolin around. Why wasn't there an internal modem anyway?
My old modems and macs could download overnight. All I want is for it to be as good as the old stuff.

  • WRT54G disconnect problem

I have been a loyal Linksys (CISCO) user since buying my 1st Wireless Access Point router/4-port Switch (BEFW1154 v2) in 08/2002. I upgraded to a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router (WRT54G v8.00.2) in 11/2007. My home wireless network supports; IBM Thinkpad (Windows XP) and Lenovo Ideapad (Windows VISTA Home Premium). About a month ago I started having disconnect issues with the WRT54G. Both laptops experienced the disconnects. Initially, I unplugged the WRT54G power for about 1 minute then plugged it back in. This did not resolve the disconnect problem. I then tried to unplug the cable modem and WRT54G power. Wait about 1 minute then plug in the cable modem allowing it to reset and sync up. Then I plugged in the WRT54G. This temporarily resolved the problem for a few minutes but the disconnect problem returned eventually. I reset the WRT54G to the factory default configuration and reconfigured it for my home network. The disconnect problem was not resolved by taking this action. I contacted Cablevision who provides my broadband Internet access. They could not identify a root cause for the disconnect problem. To determine if the root cause was something other than the WRT54G, I reinstalled the BEFW1154. I have not had a disconnect problem since taking this action leading me to believe that the WRT54G is bad. I would appreciate any suggestions that might resolve the disconnect problem except for a suggestion to purchase a new router. THANKS
    Solved!

I too have had the disconnect problem. I am thinking now that my problem started when I moved the Router next to the printer. I think when the printer is on my router disconnects. I have the printer off this morning and have no problems. Last night the printer was on and both my wife's and my Pc's would lose connection to the router until I unplugged it and plugged it back in.
Is it possible for a printer to throw off the connection? I know my cell phone causes a lot of noise in the speakers if I have it next to the PC.

Come on Apple! Let's get on the ball here and fix these things for 2007!

Safari doesn't work with Yahoo Mail.
In what way? If you're interested in a solution, you might want to post details.
The dialup modem disconnects for no reason.
There can be many reasons for this, such as noise on the line, a problem with your provider, call waiting, bad hardware, etc. Again, if you're interested in a solution, more details would be needed.
The fonts are so blurry it gives you a headache.
Have you tried adjusting your font smoothing options in the Appearance section of the System Preferences? IMO, you definitely should have font smoothing turned off for font sizes 12 and lower.

  • FXO to FXO disconnect problem - Part1

    Hi,
I have 2 sites connected through an hdlc leased line. Each site has router 1750 with one VIC - 2FXO.
Once a call is placed both FXO are stuck in the off hook state. So there is no way to make another call unless I shut down and turn on the ViC again.
I read the "famous" fxo disconnect problem file from Cisco but it didn't help.
    I need to know:
    1) Is this problem a bug on the FXO ports ?
    2) Is this problem from the analog PBX side ?
    3) How to solve this problem?
    Thanks

    Hi,
you can use FXS cards......you don't have any problem......
Problem is in disconnect reason....FXO card no detect disconnect tone from PBX....
Czech firm 2N sell special "disconnect module" fot these card......

  • Data transfer when modem disconnected?

We have a 5GB per month plan and never went over it until Dec. Figured it was heavy vacation usage, then was obviously going to go over in January. Started tracking usage and found that when all the computers were shutdown, data was still being transferred, sometimes at high rates, usually (if the time recorded is true) late at night and early in the morning. We did an experiment where we completely disconnected the modem at about 10 pm and saw a data transfer in excess of 150 MB from 5 pm to 5 am with no updates or usage that would account for 150 MB from 5 pm to 10 pm. At no time when we had the modem disconnected did data transfer stop. We are in a rural area and our router requires a PW so it's unlikely someone is "stealing" usage. I put this query into VZ via the website a week ago and haven't heard a thing back.

Hello – not sure what will come of this. So far, I’ve contacted Verizon via the website (1.5 weeks ago), no reply. Talked to one person on the 800 number who said she would research and call me back, no reply. Talked to another person on the 800 number who said she would have someone research it and would text me the ticket number, no reply. Getting a little jaded at this point.
Yes I am getting charged for overage. Here is a snapshot of the most recent records:
The modem was disconnected on 2/8/2012 and 2/9/2012 probably about 10 or 11 pm. It was probably reconnected the following morning at 5:30 or 6 am. If my understanding of the records is correct, overnight on 2/8/2012 from approx 6 pm to 6 am 103 Mb was transferred. It is important to understand that for us this is A LOT of data. Our speed is very low and if we have data transfers this large we go into town; we do not use the Verizon mobile. It takes too long.
Around 1/24/2012, very large transfers occurred:
I don’t know if the modem was disconnected from 3 am to 9 am but I do know that for much of that time the computers would have been idle. Again, we would not even have attempted a > 1 G transfer/download.
In the billing period ending Nov 15 we showed 4.7 GB
In the billing period ending Dec 15 we showed 4.4 GB
In the billing period ending Jan 15 we showed 5.2 GB and were charged
As of today (5 days before end of billing period) we show 5.9 GB; we started watching our usage record about 2 weeks ago
I can’t go further back in the records past Nov 15 but I think data usage before that was closer to 3 GB.
As I mentioned in my post we are in a rural area…the nearest neighbor with a computer is almost ½ mile away. I doubt that our router reaches that far and it is PW protected.
If you can help, I would appreciate it. Getting a bit frustrated. If we had high speed with this kind of overage it would not be bad. But our very slow speed (excepting a few heavenly days with 4G; don’t know why it happened but enjoyed it) means we’re paying more for not very good service. I’m running now at 500 kbps, which is actually not that bad compared to summer speeds.

  • FXO Disconnect Problem

    Hello,
I just would like to ask some ideas on FXO disconnect problem having a setup of FXO to FXO termination on both sites. I am using a VIC-2FXO-M2 on both Cisco 1760-V Router and these fxo ports are terminated to the PABX local. The voice port will disconnect 30minutes (approximately) after the call is terminated or it remainded off-hook although the call is already done.
We tried some fine tunings like enabling "battery-reversal" command, setting the timeout call disconnect to 5sec, timeout wait-release to 5sec. But the problem is still the same.
What is really the ideal fxo disconnect solution that we can do to lessen the 30minutes delay from off-hook to on-hook.
Looking forward for your great ideas.
    Thank you.
    Vivira Alastra

    Dear Vivira,
The disconnection issue of FXO ports can really produce some gray hairs...
I have worked integrated to some cheap Panasonic PBX's in Nigeria where documentation is really scarce.
The solution that worked - but don't ask me how - was to try different combinations of CPTone on the Voice Ports. That did the job in our case.
You can also try the tedious job of measuring the disconnect tones ans analyse it e.g. in CoolEdit and then set up a Voice Class where you define the tones.
But try the CPTone settings first.
    Good luck.

  • Disconnect problems on FXO Groundstart lines

    Hello all,
I have a CCME customer, IOS 12.3-11T2. with 6 FXO ground-start lines on a 2821 platform. They are using PVDM2-32’s and two 4Port FXO cards. The call flow goes as follows.
Incoming call from PSTN, hits fxo port which has a “connection plar” to a number which calls a script in CUE. From the script if you press “0” it calls the reception.
    All the above works fine.
If the reception hangs up the call and the PSTN party does not right away, the PSTN party hears a repeating click. If the PSTN then hangs up and you do a “show voice port summary” it shows as follows
    IN OUT
PORT CH SIG-TYPE ADMIN OPER STATUS STATUS EC
    ========= == ============ ===== ==== ======== ======== ==
    0/1/0 -- fxo-gs up up idle on-hook y
Note that the OPER stat shows “up” and the out status shows “on-hook”
Until that OPER status changes to “DORM” every call after the first one will get answered by this port and the PSTN party will hear the repeating click in their ear. It takes up to 30-40 seconds for the call to clear.
If the PSTN party hangs up first the OPER stat will go to “DORM” almost immediately.
    Any thoughts?
    Ryan

use the following commands to shorten the time the router waits before determining that the call needs to be dropped due to disconnect tones.
    on the voice port
    voice-port 1/1/0
    timeouts call-disconnect 5
    timeouts wait-release 5
these will shorten the IOS default times of 30 sec & 60 sec down to 5 seconds.
use the following link for more info on the FXO disconnect problem.

  • Extremely slow internet... MAC's or modem's problem?!

My Macbook is only 1 week old, so I'm an absolute beginner at dealing with macs, please help! Thank you very much for reading
I have two houses, one with Verizon Fio modem (almost 1yr old), one with Verizon DSL (4-5yrs old), both with Linksys G Routers. The mac connects perfectly with Fio, yet when I go to my other house with DSL, everything went downhill.
When I first turn on the modem and the router, internet works fine for about 10 seconds, then it gradually slows down until I can no longer access internet. However, my family's Vistas and XP work just fine. I looked for solutions online, tried adding new DNS servers, tried turning off IPv6, nothing worked.
I called an Apple Expert, who told me to plug the modem directly into the mac. I turned off the modem + router, turned them on again, and connected the modem and the router to the mac, one at a time. At first my internet went back to normal speed, but after a while it slowed down again. I don't think connecting anything directly to the mac helped, the speed probably went back to normal just because I restarted the modem and the router.
According to the apple expert, the DSL has "gotten used to recognizing" the PCs, so when a new mac comes in, it cannot respond as well to it. He told me to call Verizon to get a new modem.
My dad is a computer programmer, and was quite doubtful of what apple told us. Over the past 5 years, the DSL has connected to 5-6 old and new PCs, but did not have any problems with them. If the modem really cannot respond well to new computers, then mine and my dad's 1 yr-old Vistas shouldn't work well with it, right? But they work perfectly fine.
Right now I have no idea what the problem is. It doesn't seem like the mac has any problem, because it connects well with other networks (as with the Fio). It doesn't seem like it's the modem's problem neither, because it connects fine with other old and new PCs.
I'm about to contact Verizon, but I'm very reluctant to get a new modem, especially when I'm not even sure if that's where the problem is...
    Please help...THANK YOU SO MUCH!

You were told pure hogwash by that "expert." Whoever it was knows nothing about computers. "Getting used to" indeed. Only in the movies.
My dad is a computer programmer, and was quite doubtful of what apple told us.
Your dad is smarter than that "expert"

The issue you have is typical - XP, Tiger etc all connect OK but Leopard does not. The usual fix is to update the router firmware. You say the router is 4-5 years old. I suspect that is the problem. You have to find out how to update the firmware. My old Verizon DSL router had the same issues until I updated the firmware, back when I first installed Leopard. It was a Westell modem and I needed to use my PC to update the firmware.
Check with your DSL ISP or go to the website of the modem/router manufacturer and get the instructions and download and install the firmware update. If this does not solve your problem, it will eliminate the main culprit. It's also possible that the router is simply too old, period.

  • Cisco Solution for FXO Disconnect Problem

I have Panasonic PBX-->FXO-->1751V------WAN-----1751V-->FXO--Panasonic PBX. I am facing a serious problem with FXO on both ends becoming busy after some few initial calls.
What is the exact Cisco solution for this FXO disconnect problem? I have read and applied some Netpro tips for similar case but none could help.
Can we have Cisco expert explain this??

  • 6230i no modem found problem

When I try to connect to the internet through my mobile and DKU-5 cable it comes up 'no modem found'. When I go to Device manager it says the modem has a problem. Updating the driver just delivers an error message 'there was a problem installing this hardware...'
The annoying thing is it worked fine until I got an autmoatic update for the software. Since then I have had to sort the 'no available connection type' problem (solved with pc suite cleaner).
Anyone with any ideas how to solve the no modem found problem would be much appreciated.

  • Iomega Hard Drive Disconnecting Problems / iMac Freezing on shutdown/restart!

I had noticed in the past week that when my iMac is in sleep mode that sometimes it is unresponsive when I try to wake it up to use it again, and then after a few minutes of trying, I have to manually power the computer on, like it randomly will shut itself down if it's in sleep mode for a longer time, but like I said, this is random.
The BIGGER problem I've encountered in the past two days is that when I go to eject my Iomega eGo Blue 1tb hard drive, the drive will not disconnect, the name on the sidebar of my finder just changes from black to grey underneath the devices row and on the desktop the Iomega icon turns lighter to indicate that it is not in use, but I cannot eject the drive, so it's still somewhat connected to the computer. I've had this drive for over a year with no complaints as I use it on both my MacBook (2009) and iMac (which I purchased new in October '11).
Instead of just turning off my hard drive or unplugging it, I try to restart my computer; however when I do that, the restart get stuck and nothing ends up working. I also have tried to shut it down with no luck, I then go to holding down the power button until it manually shuts down.
I also plugged in the hard drive to my MacBook and am not experiencing any mounting or disconnecting problems with it. I am very afraid that this may cause my Iomega to crash before I can get another hard drive to back everything up with!
I'm concerned that this could be a problem with both the hard drive and my Mac; does anyone have any input on this? I will probably end up taking it into the store or calling AppleCare, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar problem.
    Thank you!

First reset the SMC, you may need to do this 2-3x. Also reset the PRAM, again 2-3x. Finally restart the computer in Safe Mode to reset some of the caches, it's possible one is corrupt. When resetting the SMC & PRAM please carefully follow the instructions below:
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
