2865 can't be used as a modem using PC Suite after...

I can't make my 2865 as a modem by using PCSuite greater than 6.86. What can I do to use it with PCSuite 7.0?

Are you trying to copy the OSX drive from a MacBookPro to an iMac?  If so, be glad it won't let you.  Most likely, it won't run at all; if it does, all sorts of things will go wrong.
What are you trying to do?   If you're trying to set one Mac up like another one, see How do I set up a new Mac from an old one, its backups, or a PC?

  • New to FiOS, can I use my own modem and router

I saw several questions similar to mine, but none that I saw answered my question for my scenario. I am sorry if this is a duplicate. I am new to FiOS. I have no other services from Verizon and do not plan to get any. No phone, no television, nothing. Just Internet. God willing, the installation will take place in two days. My house already has coaxial cabling. I have my own cable modem, a SURFboard SB6121, which goes to my router, a TP Link TL-WR941ND. None of my equipment advertises that it is FiOS compatible. I've seen other people asking about using their own modem and router, but in those cases the scenario involved other bundled services, and I understand a FiOS router is necessary to forward ports to television, phone, and computers. However, in my very simple scenario, can the Verizon optical network terminal simply feed its output to my coax, from there to my modem, then router, then comptuers? Is there any reason that wouldn't work? Verizon technical support just gave me a machine that wanted to help me troubleshoot my Internet connection, and I couldn't get from there to a human. Thanks in advance for the help!

Banish the word and the device called "modem" from your home when using FiOS.  FiOS does not use modems.  Your cable modem is useless with FiOS.  Do not plug it in. FiOS uses routers.  The router connects to the ONT's WAN port using MoCA (coax) or Ethernet.  The installer will enable one of the ONT's WAN ports.  If you order 150Mbps or higher speeds, they will have to use Ethernet.  For slower speeds, coax is the default.  Many installers will use Ethernet if you ask nicely, but usually only if it isn't too much work.  Make sure it's easy to connect a router to the ONT using Ethernet, and you should be okay.  If Ethernet needs to be run through the walls, your best choice is get it done ahead of time.  You can always call later and get the ONT's WAN port switched. The only routers available with a MoCA WAN port are the Verizon models.  The Verizon routers are good devices for most users.  People who like to tweak their networking gear don't like them as many advanced features are limited or locked down.  You can't run any other router firmware on them.  WiFi range is decent, but not great.  I'm quite happy with my Quantum router.  YMMV. If you get Ethernet WAN enabled, you can use any router you want.  However, know that Verizon provides zero support for any other router.  They won't even mention it as an option.  That doesn't mean you can't use one, simply that you must do so without Verizon's help. There are reports that they won't even complete an install without one of their routers to verify service.  If you don't use one of their routers, consider renting one for a month to complete the install or even buying a used one.  If you own a Verizon router, you can install it if you ever suspect Verizon networking issues.  This will allow you to call their support. This FAQ is very helpful:http://www.dslreports.com/faq/16077 Good Luck.

  • I have trouble getting my new Apple TV 2 to work to the internet. I have an Imac with OsX 10.6.8 using a 3G modem to connect to the internet. I have a Time Capsule with Airport. I can't get the Apple TV to see my internet connection

I have an Imac with OSX 10.6.8 dual intel core.
    Apple TV 2
    Timecapsule
3G modem connected to iMac for internet access.
I have tied to get Apple TV2 to see the inernet but it does not seem to see the inernet connection either via the Airport network or even if I connect it directly with a ethernet cable to the Timecapsule or the iMac.
I have tired to set up Home Sharing but it doen't see the Itunes Store so no go.
I don't have wired internet but it is probably something to do with using a 3G modem
Any tips on how I can check if the TV coonect to internet and what to do about this problem?
I was trying to connect my HD TV earlier using a WiFi USB modem but it could not see my iMac. Apple Support told me to buy an Apple TV but that is not helping as I can't see anything there either.
    Regards from Michael

Thank you so much Paul_31 for your suggestions, HUGELY appreciate the effort
I have reset the printing system, a few times for good measure but nadda.
I have also looked at getting the software from the Apple site after seeing that with Snow Leopard you should let the operating system lead the install not the manufacteurers software as it is most likely out of date.  I too found it wasn't there so I uninstalled the software got up the CLX_3300 series stuff then went from there with the USB cable.  It apparently hasn't worked either
Unfortunately now after using the print utility to scan for a while that has now gone again on the last restart of the Mac.  I am so completely clueless
The box says the printer is compatible, the place of purchase said it was compatible, the Samsung site says it is compatible.
I think it's the set up of my Mac? Our maybe a glitch in the network settings?
    Thanks again

  • Can't use my USB modem "HUAWEI model E156G" on my MACBook Pro

I'm new to MAC (I used to be a windows user) and I'm a little bit frustrated for not being able to use my USB modem "Huawie E156G" for connecting my new MacBook Pro!
    I followed these steps:
Got the USB modem drivers found on Huawei site that should support my USB modem model. there were 2 drivers, one for "Intel" and another one for "PowerPC" platforms
First, I installed the "Intel" version succesfully. According to the steps, I tried to run the installed driver, but I got the following message:
"you cant open the app HuaweiDataCardApp because PowerPC app are no longer supported".
I repeated the installation procedure using the "PowerPC" version that finished succesfully (without removing the previous installed driver because dont know how to do that). I got the same message when running the driver application:
"you cant open the app HuaweiDataCardApp because PowerPC app are no longer supported".
It would be much appreciated if anyone can help me
Note: my MAC OS is MAC OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74), Processor Intel Core I5
    Thanks

  • Can I use Westell 7500 Modem from previous Verizon customer??

I'm having problems maintaining sync with my DSL and it's been ongoing for way too long. Unreliable connectivity, sometimes lose sync 10-30 times a day. I finally got a field tech that suggested I change the modem. I'm limited on cash and can't justify buying a new modem. I do have a Westell A90-7500 modem that a friend gave me, also had Verizon DSL service, when they moved. So here's my q.....
When I called Tech support to get help with my DSL and install this modem, he tells me it won't work since it's configured with the other customer's phone and account information. Is he just feeding me a line like every other tech usually does or is this correct? He did agree to send me a new modem at no charge but I'm still wanting to get an answer about using this modem, in case the new one still doesn't help my connectivity issues.
The Tech suggested I use it when he was at the house and I figure he should know whether I would be able to make it work or not. Go figure......Verizon Tech Support needs to be brought back to North America!!!! I plug it in and get a solid DSL light but no Internet light comes on. Thanks for any help you can provide.
    Solved!

Thanks, it took much more than just those steps you listed to get the DSL to sync up.I had already tried resetting the modem but it never gave me "Internet" light. Wasn't aware of the different types of settings. I knew that much, but there was so much more to the problem that I'd never experienced. I made notes this time so I can be more familiar with the Verizon Gateway website.
They overnighted the new modem to me, totally lacking sufficient instructions to setup the new modem. After I attempted for an hour to get connected, I called the 1-800 number. Tech Support walked me through setup and had to adjust my setting off the "PPPoE" and set up for "Bridged Router", SSID, and VC 1 Protocol settings to have it recognize the bridging. I would never had found all that without this guy's help. My line also was "bound" and they had to fix from their side. This guy DID verify that it wasn't necessary to have sent the new Modem out (no surprise there) but hey, it's their money. Well, maybe not so much because my bill pays for it in the end.
Anyway, it's good now. Well, doesn't seem to be as fast as before. Maybe it will get better. I can hope, can't I???? Thanks for your help though.

  • Setup problem - using 8520 as modem

    Hi,
I am following the instruction here to setup my device (unlucked Curve 8520, with AT&T)
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB05196
At task 2, step 7, I can not input any character in the Extra initialization commands field...
Can anyone give me some hind to proceed? Thank you so much!
Moreover, I followed another instruction and had another problem
    http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-guides/2019-user-howto-use-blackberry-modem-laptop.html
At step 8, I check my "Standard Modem Properties"  - Diagnostics - Query Modem, and got something seemingly incorrect:
    AT+FCLASS=? COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
    AT#CLS=?    COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
    AT+GCI?    COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
    AT+GCI=?   COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED
I feel the two issues are not dependent. Please help me resolve them. Thank you so much!
    Sean

Which version of the Desktop Manager are you running? If you're running 5.0.1 can you try to use the IP Modem option to setup the modem?

  • How can I tell if my computer is using ethernet or wireless for downloads?

    Hi,
My computer is hooked up via ethernet to my router (base station) which is connected to my DSL modem, and I also have my Airport on because I have extended my network with an airport express so I can stream music to my stereo across the room using iTunes.
I've noticed in the Airport menu that my computer is connected also to my wireless network which I use for getting online with my iPad.
Can I assume that my computer will use ethernet and NOT wireless for accessing the internet, downloading files, etc?
How can I tell which network connection is being used? Are there tools for monitoring the network that would allow me to easily determine if a particular download is going over the ethernet or the wireless connection?
Clearly, I want to use the hard line ethernet connection for everything and use the wifi only for my streaming music function for speed purposes...
    Thanks!!!!
    Elisabeth

    Hi,
Internet is served on the priority basic from the System Prefrences Network pane.
If ethernet is on top you getting it from ethernet if Airport and so on...
So depending on internet speeds set the priority to access fast internet speeds.
