2lis_02_itm records being removed with update rules

I am using the 2lis_02_itm datasource to populate ODS 0PUR_O01. However, when I extract data into the PSA it removes all but 1 record in the update rules. The PSA contains 2000 records, but the ODS only 1. I have enabled the "STANDARD" setting for scetors in R3 and activated BW and NDI in BF11 as well. I then deleted and filled the purchasing setup tables. Is there someting else I have to do?
Can someone explain how to determine why the update rules are removing all the records?

Kristian,
Key field are Document number and Itme number. Both fields have variable data in the PSA, so I think I'm okay there. I don't see STORNO or RECORDMODE in the PSA. In the transfer rules, the description for RECORDMODE is "update mode", but I don't see this field header in the PSA.
Any other suggestions?

here is my requirement:
During Activity create/Edit upon choosing seller phase i bring questions based on update rules of q1 q2 and q3 from complex table.
Possible answers are also fetched from complex table based on selection of phase for each question. I have a update rules for answers to check the object collection(E) and determine if this phase exist or not, If exist previously selected Answers will bulled from collection for the corresponding question if not it has to empty.
All rule are working with out any problem.
Issue.
During create or edit if some one chooses phase P1 and answers for the questions and with out saving if they change phase then answers which are been selected earlier still exist.
This is happening in IPAD but not in ATE. I have checked the log for rules all the rules are returning values as expected.
So i tried the below options to test
1) with special value option in field level
2) I created a dummy field with update rule with value test. On creation i have modified the dummy field value X then changed the phase the value is not getting updated as per update rule.
Is it the real behavior of update rule? Is there any work around for this problem

So based on your comments above I have the workarounds I gave you.
1) A button that refreshes "resets" to make the screen repaint (in essence a button that just re-navigates to the same screen will make all the system reset) if you just want one screen.
2)Or the multiple screen approach. Let phase 1 be in one screen and the other questions and answers on others.
Not sure if you can just do 1 screen with multi-tiles - If this is better approach where the phase selection is on 1 tile (top tile) and the questions and answers are on a different tile (bottom tile).
The trick is to make the screen repaint. As long as you present to the customers a flawless flow you will be okay. The one that you don't want to happen is when your rules are buggy then it may be just a good idea to sell a more controlled flow that works than debugging what went down the wrong during UAT (User Acceptance Test).

Issue with Update Rules

Hi,
 I am working on IM (Inventory Management), following the steps as in " How to Handle Inventory management Scenario In BW ". I installed all objects from Business Content that are required for IM like Infocube(0IC_C03) and three communication structures related to datasources 03_BX, 03_BF, 03_UM.
 I initailised the material stock using 2lis_03_BX and I compressed the request without marker update(uncheck the check box). I can see the data in infocube.
 When I am trying to load the material movements 2Lis_03_BF, my data is comming into Infocube, In the manage I can see 0 records are added.
 When I check the monitor and details, here I can see upto transfer rules data is coming but in update rules I cant see any data.
 I checked the routines in update rules they are satisfying the condition.
 Any help would be highly appreciated and rewarded.

Narendra - I will continue to debug start routine and update routines.
Teja - Not all records have stock category 'V' or stock type 'V'. The start routine filters out some records, but the majority of the records are passing through the start routine. In the monitor 'Details' tab the message is Number of records changed from X to (X - Y), and then 0 records added to fact table.
Nagesh - yes, all records have a process key assigned.

Error with Update Rule Formula

I have the following formula in an update rule
CALMONTH_FISCPER( Calendar Year/Month, 'SO', 1 )
and get the error (below) when loading data to the cube (loads ok to PSA). I have checked ROUTINE_0001 via the Generated Program and it is referring to a problem with the formula could someone assist? Thanks

Hi:
Yes. You will have to maintain Fiscal Variant and Period breakdowns for that year.
If data is coming from R/3, its a good idea to speak with R/3 Finanace and tell them to amintains variant and periods in R.3 and then you can do a Global Transfer.
If not, you can maintain them directly in BW. I think you know how to do this part.

ABAP Help needed with update rule

I have created a new keyfigure A and a new keyfigure B in 1 update rule, derived from basic keyfigures. Keyfigure C is calculated by adding A and B together...in the same updaterule.
keyfigure A and B are filled (recalculated ) as expected but keyfigure C remains empty. Can anybody tell me why?

I think you have written a update rule for all the three keyfigures A, B and C.
When you write an update routine it is local and the value returned by any routine or calculation can not be accesed by other keyfigure. The Key Figure C will be calculated with values of A and B from the datapacket which are both SPACE(not from the values returned by update routines of A and B). so value of C will always be SPACE or Empty.
To solve the problem write Start Routine for calculating A B and C
Please assign points if helpful.

0PM_DS02 - Problem with Update Rule

Hi ,
I have installed the Standard ODS 0PM_DS02 from BI content.
Problem is --> In Update Rule all Data Fields have been installed perfectly but all Key Fields with Blank ( No Assignment ) .
I would like to know what is the reason that All the KEY Fields have installed with Blank .
Though I can do the manual assignment for characteristics like Equipment / Functional location but my specific area of Concern is what to assign to time characteristcs 0CALDAY / 0CALMONTH etc.
I would appreciate your help in guiding me what to assign in Key fields of 0PM_DS02 update rule.

Probably you have got it resolved already. The key fields are assigned along with the data fields in the statement RESULT_TABLE[] = G_T_UPDATE_IMAGE.
G_T_UPDATE_IMAGE has the same structure as /BI0/APM_DS0200, which is nothing but the active data table of 0PM_DS02. This structure gets populated in the FM BW_MCI1_KEYFIGURE_ARRAY_GET.

Problem with update Rules

Hi I am having four Key figures k1,k2,k3k4 and four characterstic c1,c2,c3 and c4.Now if I write a routine with k1 giving some conditions then only the records satisfyig that conditions will be updated in the cube.If I write a routine for characterstic then what happens ..?
my questions is if I select the characterstic by clicking on the keyfigure and thenking on the particular characterstic then what happens..?

Hi Vasu.
When you save your routine you will be asked if you would like to use the routine for all key figures. If you choose no it will only use the routine for the selected KF.

Infotype 0002 record being created with language 'Z1' and not 'EN'

Approximately 50% of our Infotype 2 records exist with the language field value as 'Z1'.
This wasn't captured manually, and our config is set up for 'EN'.
Please advise how this could have occured.

Look at T-code RZ11 with system parameter "zcsa/system_language" OR search for "system_language". I think, it got setup with wrong language i.e. Z1

Workspace Form Not being Rendered with Updated Data from previous level

I have a process in wherein a reader extended PDF form is filled and kept in the watch folder.
Then the PDF is picked up and a two level approval process starts in Workspace.
The initial step in my process takes the PDF document and extracts the XML data ("processFormSubmuission")
Then I have an "Assign Task" where I have an xfaForm variable (lev1form) as input, where I use Sample Forms/ RenderPDFForm to render the PDF form in Workspace.
I have also configured the Submit service using sample forms / submit PDF form.
At the initial level the form is populated correctly in Workspace
But if the user edits the form and passes it on to the next level of approval,
the edited data is not displayed to the next user It show the same old watch folder submitted data.
How do I reflect the changes? Can I update the xml file somehow upon submission at first level?
I also tried using a different xfaForm variable (lev2form) configured using default render service. As output of the first assign task.
But it does not work this way too..
Please help me how I should go about now..

When you extract the data from the form it is already XML.....or it should be. I do not use ProcessFormSubmission .... there is an easier way - under Common/Form Data Integration there is an Export Data service that will take your form as input and create a document that contains your data as output. You can then use a setValue to change the doc object into an xml object (doc object on right, xml object on left). Once it is xml you will need to see what the format is so either write it out or dump it to the log. Ultimately you want to get down to the forms root node and set that and all of its children to the xfaForm variable. The xfaForm variable is a complex object that has multiple nodes beneath it. Use a setValue service to put the xml you extracted into the xfaForm Var. In the XPath editor you can expand it out and put the xml data under this node:
xfaFormVar/object/data/xdp/datasets/data
Now your xfaForm var is ready to go

Problem with routine and it's infoobject (update rules)

In Metadata Repository my comm structure doesn't have an infoobject that is there in Adm. Workbench. That infoobject was included in a routine in update rules for other infoobject that was removed from the cube. In Metadata Repository the routine is still present in update rules, but not in Adm. Workbench. That makes me unable to remove it from the comm structure and of course delete the object.
How can I remove this routine? How can I make changes in Metadata?

I had two objects:
ZDWIP_AUX is in comm structure and datasources
ZDWIP_REM is in Cube and Update Rules (the routine mentioned ZDWIP_AUX)
I deleted ZDWIP_REM from the cube and from catalogue.
Automatically removed in update rules.
ZDWIP_AUX is unmovable from comm structure and can't be deleted because it says that is in use by a routine that I can't see.
By recreating IObject do you mean, recreate all the scenario and remove in a different, like first the clean the recreated routine?!

Cubes without Update Rules

Please can i know why is it that a cube can contain data but has no update rules?

Hi!
If the infocube is transational, you should find an option when doing administration on it (right-click on rsa1, infoproviders) than enables it to be loaded like a normal cube(with update rules) or to be planned (BPS input);
Otherwise, the cube is a normal one; and the implementation is incomplete or someone wanted to kept the cube from being further uploaded!
Go figure!
Also you can check in the request log, if you have a log, it was made via upadate rules. If it was made by BPS, the system will not identify Infosource or Datasource on the request!

Self Update Rule

Hi all:
I have a problem in self update rule loading.Actually i have ODS ZOMS001 and for this i have
two update rules.One update rule is 2LIS_02_SCN and other update rule is 8ZOMS001(Self update rule).During initialise for SCN it takes 3 min and for self update rule 8ZOMS001 it takes 3 mins.During Delta loading for self update rule 8ZOMS001 ,even if i have 1 records(in delta) it takes whole records in ODS and timing goes for 20 mins.But it update only one record in ODS.
Anyone suggest how can i go for delta records only for self update rule.How can i will minimize the time sequence for self update rule delta loading?.
This issue stops my proj.Pls give me input.

Hello,
You should also take note that your delta will be a continous loop of changes...since you are updating itself, the loop to itself will produce changes and will continually create change records....so you will always get the same changes..
For instance,
Init.
First delta from 2LIS_02_SCN. (Change log updated)
That delta goes to itself. (Change log updated)
Second delta from 2LIS_02_SCN. (Change log updated)
That delta goes to itself, with changes from first delta to itself and second delta...)
This continually gets bigger and bigger....
It is a continous loop that you will never get out of...
Be careful in this situation.

Can not view update rules on production BW server

This can be quite a time-consuming problem as I can't always tell if the latest update rules are successfully transported to production.
Most every where else in production I can choose to DISPLAY however this is not the case with update rules only.
Is this a typical setting for most companies? Can I turn off this setting so I can at least DISPLAY the update rules?

as far as I know you can only see any rules (transfer, update etc.) in BW in change mode.
if you know where to change this setting (i.e. to see rules) - do it
you only have to remember to change it on dev and transport.

Update rules, different source and target units (0BASE_UOM-- 0QVVMRA)

Hi,
I have a problem with update rules as I'm trying to map two keyfigures with different unit-types together. They are both kilograms (KG) but the source figure is defined as 0BASE_UOM and the target keyfigure is 0QVVMRA (Amount of sales).
How can I make this connection work? Do I have to use the 'Unit calculation in routine' -option or is there a more simple way? I a routine must ne written, please post an example or link to a thread which has one.

Hi,
The Problem is that you are trying to connect a Key Fig for Type Quantity with the Key Figure Amount.
The Amount Key Fig will have either 0CURRENCY or Fixed Currency.
Using Update Rules Coding you could transfer the Value but you will have problems with the Currency. You cant store a Unit like KG in 0CURRENCY.

Infosource & Update Rules puzzle

Hi Experts,
I was told that Direct Infosource does not have Update Rules tied to it to update Master data. How true is it? When I update master data, I had generated update rule on the master data object. So, is the 1st statement correct?
Flexible Infosource can contain master and transaction data. Does this mean I can load in one-shot, master and transaction data into the 1 Infosource for both data. That is, same Infosource. And then use update rules (1 per data target) to update the data targets of either cube or master data table? Or is it that u must use 2 infosource?
Are there only 3 types of transfer rules that can be used per infoobject in the communication structure? What about formula, is it considered one of the types?

1. you must have created a flexible infosource for your master data - direct ones do not have update rules.
2. to my understanding, yes, but i believe it is more common to use one infosource updating multiple "recipients", with update rules for each.
