You can look at the ipad under settings, general, about and see if it's 4.3.3.
Or when you connect the ipad to the computer with itunes, it'll tell you on the first tab if you need an update.

What are you trying to stream? Some websites have not enabled the video part of airplay... BBC iplayer for example.

Can hear but not see movies from my Casio Exilim 7.2

Movies shot on my Casio Exilim 7.2 mega pixel camera open up in QuickTime, but I can only hear them, not see them. The files from the camera are .AVI files if that helps. Wondering if I am missing something. I went to the 3rd party software page, but either didn't see what I needed or didn't understand what I needed to download to make it work. I thought it was supposed to "just work." I'm using a brand new Macbook Pro core 2, 10.4.8

The inventors and creators of the AVI "container" (Micro$oft) abandoned the file format many years ago. They have moved on to WMP formats and no longer support AVI. They must know something!
You may be better served by exporting them to QuickTime file formats using QuickTime Pro or other third party conversion software.
Personally I wish AVI would just die (as intended by the owners) and disappear as a file container.

Can hear, but not see my MPEG-4 files- can anyone help me?

So I bought a new digital camera- a Casio EXILIM that makes MPEG-4 files. When I try to play one of the MPEG-4 files, I can't seem to get the video to show up on my QT player. I'm using QT 7.0.3, and I can hear the audio portion perfectly, but there is no picture.
The Casio manual is 7 pages of nothing that helps. Software? You're joking, right? They graciously give a copy of Photo Loader, which seems like it was written in the stone age.
As far as Quicktime goes, I have the following plug-ins: MPG4-DIVX, MPG4* and MPG4.
The File comes up as a .AVI file, if that makes any difference.

The VLC Media PLayer at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ should play the files for you.
I use ffmpegX at http://homepage.mac.com/major4/ to convert similar problem files to DV stream video files so they can be used in iMovie/iDVD. (Keep in mind that the files will grow in size from your MPG-4 sizes as DV Stream video is about 13 GB per hour of running time).

I can hear, but not see, hidden windows (advertisements, etc.) when I open Firefox, even if I haven't visited another page. What's going on?

For the last few days I can hear advertisements running (like streaming video ads) whenever I'm online, even if it's not on the page I'm on. Even when I open task manager, it doesn't acknowledge an additional task or page being open. What's going on, can I stop it, and how?

LOL! That's fine! Now I understand why my computer at work updated and why it wouldn't at home. Yes, when I went to 2 different places and downloaded the file and went to run it, it stopped halfway through. Guess that's what you meant by crash. All it said was that the install was interrupted and to press OK. When you did that, the download disappeared completely.
So thanks very much. I'll just wait like you said. After all I just did an update last week again. Seems like Firefox has been updating quite a lot lately.

i downloaded an album from itunes which included a music video. I can view the video on my PC and ipod but only hear the music on my ipad - no video picture. Any ideas. Thanks

Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.

Can hear but not see linked video

I can see and hear normally on youtube or some direct site. But if I try to veiw a youtube vid linked at some forum I can only hear the video and am unable to see it. I just upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit. The same thing happened on my laptop when I upgraded to Windows 7. I finally fixed it but cant remember where I found the info. Can anyone help with this?

Try upgrading the Web browser Flash pluggin.
While Internet Explorer is part of Windows 7, the pluggins that come with it are not the latest version and still need to be upgraded separately.
You can check which version you have by opening IE, and in the menu bar, choose "Tools" and then "Manage Addons".

Video: Can hear but not see

We bought High School Musical 3 last night and it came with a digital copy. I wanted to have it on my iPod for my son's doctor visit today so I uploaded it to iTunes (worked fine) and then synced my iPod (worked fine once I figured out I needed to tell it to sync movies). It's on my iPod, under Videos, but only the sound plays. The little tv screen icon shows on the screen and it has the slider across the bottom showing the time, but there is no picture. The movie works fine when I play it in iTunes. I am definitely trying to play it in Videos and not in Music. I'm pretty frustrated at this point. Any ideas?

Nevermind. I found the answer by doing a search. I had my Video Output set to ON instead of OFF or ASK. Simple solution. Thanks.

The Apple DVD Player application isn't part of iDVD.

Do you have copyright protected media in the project? How exactly are you exporting? What exactly are you exporting? What are the specs of the media?

Can hear but not view .mov files from digital camera

My daughter has a Samsung Digimax camera which takes video in MPEG-4 format (.mov). Since upgrading Quicktime, we can hear the video but not see it. The screen is black. I made sure I upgraded to the latest version of Quicktime (7.1.6). I have tried "Safe mode" as recommended in another post and I still get the audio but now the video is white. The movie info says "Apple MPEG4 Decompressor, 320 x 240". We were able to view all her videos with no problems before the QT upgrade.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
How big are the files? iPhoto won't import large files from your camera. As Larry says, move them to the desktop with Image Capture and import to iPhoto from there.

Ok, i've been trying to figure out this problem on my own for a while now and i'm about ready to give up. I've got a guitar plugged into my computer and i can hear it in logic, but when i record no information is recorded. i can record perfectly fine in garage band and then bring it into logic, but that's a pain in the *** and i should be able to do it in the program that i spent so much money on. any ideas guys?
the track is record-enabled and i am getting signal through it.

Just a thought...do you have the track record armed in the mixer page,or in the arrange page?
It must be record-armed in the arrange page for recording to work...weird,but that's how it works.If you have a track selected in the arrange page,make sure it is the one you are going to record onto.

Can hear but not be heard?

I apologize for posting a question that has probably already been addressed, and I did go back in archived questions to try to find the solution, but I am not sure the posted problem was the same as mine. (I am using an iMac G4 with Tiger.) When I iChat with my friend, I can hear him perfectly however, he is unable to hear me at all. He is a very knowledgeable Mac user, so we went through the typical remedies...making sure input was on correct settings, mute was not on, various other ideas..but nothing seems to work. I was wondering if perhaps there is a macguru that would be willing to help troubleshoot! Any ideas and fixes welcome! Thanks

And under the subject of firewalls I found this:
Mac OS X 10.4 internal firewall: For Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger you can specify TCP and UPD ports separately. The Firewall is in the same place but after selecting the New button select Other from the pull-down menu. TCP ports: 5190, UDP ports 5060, 5190, 5678, 16384-16403. Give the entry a name like iChat and click OK.
So I followed these instructions and upon viewing the ichat preferences video, I found that I now had a microphone dropdown which I ticked...I quit system pref. /restarted ichat/ checked again in ichat pref. video and....it was gone...the microphone dropdown. It appeared only briefly that one time. I thought maybe the new ports didn't save when I entered them ....but when I went back to the firewall, the entry i named iChat was there and ticked. Odd?
Sooooo...I re-do...using the instructions for OS 10.3: (who knows, thought it MIGHT work)..and again..the same thing..I get the dropdown for the mic, and as soon as I tick it, it disappears from the page. I have no idea, really, if this can point us somehow in the right direction for a fix...but at least I was able to see a mic. dropdown. Any clues?

I have registered for Zotero. When I play the video tutorials I can hear it but nothing shows up on my screen. I figure I need to disable something, because if I click on a link to a you tube video they also do not play. What do I need to do?
