Direct connections are always best, but if you insist:
Get a Griffin iTrip or replace your radio with one that has AUX inputs and/or Bluetooth.

  • 3.5mm to 3.5mm

My CD player in my house has a 3.5mm headphone jack where i can plug in my headphones and listen to the music coming from my cd player. would this work for one of those 3.5mm to 3.5mm(male to male) cords, so that i could listen to my ipod through my cd player?

No because the headphone jack on your cd player is an output socket and and not an input.

  • 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapters difference

    Hello,
does anybody know what the difference between AD-44 (http://europe.nokia.com/A4486274) and AD-54 (http://europe.nokia.com/A4487137)?
they look very similar, but compatibility list is absolutely different...
another thing I cannot understand - why AD-44 is not compatible with, for example, 3500c while it also has S40 and 2.5mm AV-connector...
Message Edited by argd on 30-Nov-2008 06:39 PM

AD-44 is a 2.5mm connection into the phone and the HS-44 has a 3.5mm connection into the AD-44.
AD-54 is a 3.5mm connection into the phone and the HS-45 has a 3.5mm connection into the AD-54.
The reason for the compatibility only on certain phones is that the phone has to have the necessary protocols that support the functionality of the AD-44/54 such as the music controls and answer end call.

I bought a 90 degree 2 ring adapter from Tandy that did not work. I may need a 3 ring type. Is there a  3 ring type 90 degree adapter with a short wire (like a dongle) and the 3.5 m on the other end for earphone input in australia for sale? Isee lots of these in amazon but I'm surprise many users are having so much trouble finding correct adapters for the E71 inclusive of myself.
Any help and guidae would be much appreciated.

You need to search for Nokia AD-61. I have an E71X and use this adapter. I picked it up from Amazon.

  • 2.5mm Adapter

Hi,  I have seen a number of posts on the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adaper for 8100 but no solutions.  I am trying to play music through a car stereo which has a 3.5mm jack. I bought an adapter at radio shack and no sound came through, then one online and only one channel came through.  I'm sure this is a common issue.  The adapter has to be set up to contact left, right and ground on the blackberry and not the mic channel so I am thinking only blackberry has one?
Thanks for your help in advance.

You should take the adapter back to Radio Shack because they sold you the wrong one. The one you need is this one

hi, this reply may be a bit late. however,i just got something to share.
ive been using some unknown brand 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter and so far have no problems. what i meant by unknown is some cheaply made ones, doesnt even come in any packages. so i dun see why you could be facing problems with such adapters. it costs ard 8SGD (Singapore) here, which is equivalent to 5.6USD or 3.55 pounds.if you guys need help, i can willingly send over few brand new working adapters. u guys just need to pay for the product and of cos postage, how much? that i suggest you look up at the post office in ur area. i can also send a picture of them, if u wish, via email.
i'm doing this out of goodwill, as i see the abundant supply of working adapters in every hardware stores here. send me a msg or reply to this post if u are keen.

  • Headphone Jack has broken - dock adaptor 3.5mm female?

Recently, my 3.5mm headphone jack for my 5.5video 30gb ipod has broken, it only played out of the left channel and is really distorted, is there an adaptor to get the dock connector to connect to my headphones - such as http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-35508-Connector-3-5mm/dp/B000J022G6 but to female. It's also important to keep good sound quality to me, thanks.

There are online places that can replace the headphone jack for you and many have one day turn around service.

  • 2.5mm / Pop Port Adaptor for Car Kit?

I currently have a Nokia Car Charger / Hands-free that my work installed, it has a power connector and a 2.5mm connector. I use it with a Nokia 1100 but I have upgraded to a Nokia 6100, however since the 1100 uses a 2.5mm connector and the 6100 uses some kind of Pop Port, it doesn't connect. I'm not sure of the brand of car kit since my wife is using the car, all I can remember is the name begins with 'A' but that's not much help. Anyway, if someone could suggest an appropriate product to use, that would be very helpful.
    William.

The only car kit i can think of who supplies a cradle to fit the Nokia 1100 is THB Bury, if this is fitted into your car you will be able to replace the cradle, it simply clips off, expect to pay around £60. Let me know if you can see any names or part numbers.

  • Macbook Pro recording sound from external radio

    Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how I can record an external digital radio with my Macbook Pro. As a backgrounder, I am able to do it on my old white Macbook because it has a line-in port, so I just connect a 3.5mm cable from the radio to the Macbook and then I have software (Audio Hijack Pro) to hijack and record it.
However, as we all know, the new Macbook Pros have done away with the line-in port. And the Sound options in System Preferences don't seem to have a function allowing me to fiddle with the headphone port (apparently, earlier models had a function in System Preference that allowed you to turn the headphone port into line-in) but this new model doesn't have that option anywhere.
So I'm wondering if anyone can tell me whether the USB ports or even Thunderbolt can RECEIVE sound from an external device such as a digital radio. I have seen cables that are 3.5mm to USB so I think getting the cable to connect the radio to the Mac is possible, but will it actually receive the sound or just do nothing? Or is there some other way I can record an external device I'm not thinking of, bearing in mind I don't want to use the Mac's microphone to do it, as I will of course get all other ambient sound in the room at the time, and I don't want to rely on an internet stream of said radio.
    Thanks,
    Joe

What if it was a digital radio, would that make things easier by way of using just a 3.5mm to USB cable? Especially because a quick search of a USB Audio Interface brought up some expensive results.
Also, as a possible alternative, after some extensive research online, I've found an iMic USB Audio Device by Griffin that is essentially an adaptor with a USB cable on one end and a Line In port on the other, thus allowing me to connect a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable from the digital radio to the adapter, and then the adapter goes into the MBP USB port. It's on Amazon and it claims to function as a way to plug microphones and other external audio equipment to it. It seems pretty straightforward, which sometimes has me thinking it's too good to be true.
The output from your radio is analog, regardless of whether the radio is 'digital' or not.
You need a USB audio interface. The iMic is a USB audio interface.

  • Static when connecting to hifi via headphone socket.

When I connect my Macbook Pro to a hifi with a phono to 3.5 cable via the headphone socket, I get a horrible hissing.
This only happens when my Macbook is plugged in, and it is even louder than the sounds it should be producing. Like if I'm playing a song in iTunes at full volume, and then connect it to the hifi, the hissing would be several times louder than the music playing.
It doesn't happen when I unplug the power adaptor.
I have tried it with numerous 3.5-phono cables with the same outcome, and I've used various other sources instead of the macbook such as iPod/cd players and they all play fine.
Anyone know what can be done about this?
I have PC speakers which work fine with it.
Also recently my headphone socket seems a lot more...delicate (I haven't slept in a while and can't think of the word - sorry).
Basically when I first got my mbp it was fine, but now if whatever is being plugged into the socket is nudged slightly, it will cut out temporarily. This happens regardless of what is being plugged in.
    Thanks

I also have a macbook pro and an Apple Hi Fi. For one thing, you have to baby the Hi Fi, they can be pretty finicky and delicate and it doesn't take much for them to malfunction which I believe is part of the reason that Apple discontinued them. I also use a 3.5mm jack- 3.5mm jack to connect my macbook pro to my hifi and have no issues. Now what it sounds like is going on is that the issue is on the Macbook Pro side of things. How old is your MBP? Is there any light emitting from the audio jack on the laptop, as that can be an indicator of trouble. I get that hissing sound too so I'm pretty sure I know what yours is caused by. Basically, when a 3.5mm audio cord is plugged into the Hi Fi on one end but not properly into something at the other end, and the unplugged (or partially plugged) cord touches something else conductive/metal it will hiss really loudly. This should only occur when the Hi Fi's volume is turned up. Have you checked any other devices (output) like another speaker if possible to see if your mac's audio out port (the one with the headphone icon on it) is broken or malfunctioning. I am using a Belkin 3.5mm-3.5mm audio cord and it works well. So I'm guessing the issue is your audio-out but if all else fails it is possible to connect a macbook pro to a Hi Fi with a Toslink fiber optic cord. I don't know why this would fix the problem but if you truly have no issues with any other input to the hi fi and you have tried multiple audio cords (when audio cords get worn in my experience they will cause problems too, but that problem would likely present as getting single-channel audio interference (which would sound like listening to an ipod with headphone) then maybe a digital audio cord is the way to go. On top of that, a digital audio cord would dramatically improve the volume and sound quality (its roughly the difference in sound between listening to music on a docked ipod vs. plugging an ipod in via the audio out auxiliary jack). But, I would say your likeliest problem is the connection between the audio cord and the audio out port on the macbook pro. Hope this all helps!
