3-way sync

My Palm Pre will sync with my gmail account. My desktop Palm will sync (using Echo) with the Palm Pre. However, information written on my desktop that then syncs and appears on my Palm Pre, doesn't sync with the gmail account and the info written on the gmail won't appear on the desktop. How can I get all three to sync together?
Thanks

A three way sync is not possible unless you use different software.  The Palm Pre is set up to pull information in from multiple sources and seamlessly integrate your contacts so you don't have to look through 4 different contacts to find out which one has that persons cell number.  The idea is not to have the phone act to transfer and sync the various sources, only to merge them.
That being said, gsyncit (a third party software) does allow a three-way sync from Outlook to gmail to Palm Pre.  I personally use it and have found it very effective.  I use it for my office contacts which reside on a shared outlook platform (not exchange server).  It allows me to have my contacts up to date on both my computer and my phone.  gmail for me is simply the intermediary.  Gsyncit will sync contacts and calendars.  Tasks may be possible in version 2.0 but it is not something that I use personally.
The beautiful thing about the operation of the Palm Pre is that it allows separate accounts to remain separate (ie: work contacts, facebook and personal contacts on Yahoo or gmail) while bringing them together seamlessly on your phone.   If you are comfortable with your contacts all merged into one source, I would keep them in the "cloud" and back up regularly.  This allows you to use all of your information from any computer but a copy always resides on your hard drive (CSV or VCF files) just in case.
Hope this helps.

  • TWO WAY Sync is grayed out. Cannot two way synchronize BB.

When attempting to Configure Synchronization Settings for ASC II importer/exporter, the only options given are ONE WAY Synchronization either to or from the device. The one I want to pick:
TWO WAY Sync is grayed out.
How can I ungray the two way sync to be able to sync my outlook/tasks/address/tasks.
I will synchronization with a USB port, not through a wireless connection.
    Thanks for any help.

Hi, When using software Desktop manager to do a backup and/or restore, I have to disable the wireless syncrhonisation in the blackberry first to enable the 2 ways sync.   Usualy, you can not use wireless  and usb cable sync., so as an example, let`s say you want to sync the adress book. go into your blackberry and into your adress book application and press the "application" button, go into "Options" and change Wireless synchronisation to "No"
After that you should see the 2 ways sync.
When completed, do not forget to put back the wireless synchronisation to "Yes" to enable it back.
    hope that helps.

  • HT1535 How do I do a one-way sync from computer to I-pad? Outlook Contacts only.  It has already been synced and there is bad info on I-pad that I don't want on my computer.

How do I do a one way sync from contacts in computer (Outlook), to contacts on I pad (also for I-phone)?  Contacts on I-Pad are incorrect and I do not want to add them back to my computer?
Alternatively, is there any way to delete contact groups all at once instead of one contact at a time?

  • One-Way Sync iPhone with iTunes?

I Posted this question a while back:
    Hello...
On several occasions I have managed to delete content on my iPhone using sync in iTunes, and I somehow find iTunes not very intuitive and logical on the matter of syncing.
My basic question is of there is a way to force a one-way sync, or "Just transfer crap to my phone but don't even dare touch the content on there or I will un-install you!"...
I have a total of 3 computers which I use my iPhone with.
    - Work: at my work I generally use to sync my calendars ect. so I always have my work calendar on me,
    - Home Workstation: this I use to manage the music on my iPhone primarily.
    - Home Laptop: this I use for verious stuff.
What computer should be allowed to do what? (R-Read, W-Write, D-Delete)
    - Music: Work - RW , Home WS - RWD, Home Laptop - RW
    - Calendar: Work - RWD , Home WS - RW, Home Laptop - RW
    - Apps: Work - RW , Home WS - RWD, Home Laptop - RW
And so on, so as you can se, I would like to ONLY let my workstation at work delete stuff in my calendar, it may add stuff or read stuff of any kind, but NEVER delete it.
    And so forth...
Is there anyway of adding such restrictions?...
    And i got this answer:
    Welcome to the discussions,
See this article about syncing and merging data: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
The main thing is, you can only sync to one itunes library at a time. If you want to sync to more than one computer, you'll have to manually manage your media content to avoid getting it deleted when you connect to another computer.
See also http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1535, "Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone"
Thats all very well, but... no...
    Going to: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1535
And attempting to follow the instructions there, well fails because what happens in step 5 when clicking apply, is the dialog that ask if i wan't to erase and re-sync. That means i can't even Enable Manually management of videos and music without erasing the content on my phone?...

See if this cnet video gives you any help. The best you can do is trick itunes into thinking it is syncing to the same library database file on all PCs.
    http://cnettv.cnet.com/sync-your-ipod-two-computers/9742-1_53-50004835.html
You will have to pay careful attention to how itunes preferences are set on each PC.
The thing was designed to sync with one PC, really. This apple article pretty much states it will get corrupted if you try to use multiple PCs repeatedly:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1474
and advises using a 3rd-party solution to do it. The cnet video I linked also has mentions of 3rd-party programs htat will do what you want.

  • Desktop Software for MAC allows only two way sync

    hi...
I want help with the Blackberry desktop software for MAc. I am able to synce my phone, however there is no way in which I can do a one-way sync  - replacing all the data on the mac with the data of the phone...
please let me kniw if there is any way of doing that
    thanks

Isn't it simply because of the known problem with iCloud sync enabled?
This operation makes the address book and calendar(s) invisible to BBDM as the data files are "removed" from the Mac and put "in the cloud"...
Several posts are documenting the problem and suggest some alternatives or work around (by disabling iCloud).
Look on the forum for additional details.
Please don't forget to mark as "solved" if your question is replied and to "like" a useful reply to your post ;-)

  • One-Way Sync?

Is it possible to just sync one way? Here's my situation: My phone, for whatever reason, doesn't read annual events and it doesn't like certain contacts, so when I use iSync it wants to delete those items on my iCal and alter things on my Address Book on my iMac. I have my iSync preferences set to let me know before it makes any changes on the computer. It shows me all the changes it wants to make, but doesn't allow me to deny them individually. Is there a way to do that or is there a way to perform a one-way sync just to my phone? Thanks!

iSync always works in both directions, except on the first sync. So, in theory, you could choose *Reset Device...* from the Devices menu everytime you want to sync it. This will force iSync to re-send all data afresh from the Mac. However, that is not syncing, as new data on the phone will not transfer back, until the next sync.
Which phone do you have? If you mentioned this, maybe someone could help solve the syncing issues you're having with it.

  • ICal One-Way Sync? (iPhone to Mac)

So, the other day my mother accidentally erased all of her events in iCal on her Mac. She still had them all on her iPhone, so she tried to sync it with her Mac to undo the deletions. But it did the opposite; all of her events were lost on her phone. Luckily, I was able to restore her back-up onto her iPhone. So I need to know if there is a way to sync the events (one-way) from the phone onto the Mac.
    Thanks!

    Thanks, Allan.
I am not sure if I will follow your advice, however. While you're probably right and it should be a true sync, what I was trying to say was that in my case (and apparently Berit's as well) it simply isn't.
Which means that apart from the fact that we will probably have to clean out our adress books and calendars again after a reset and sync. I've done that three times already and believe me, it's a major pain. Plus, there is also a chance it won't work afterwards.
I was actually hoping for there to be some workaround solution like a one-way sync. And I'm not happy with Apple's tendency to prevent such workarounds wherever they can. I understand they want to profit from their awesome products but wherever anything doesn't work they're starting to lose their user friendliness along the way. Which still, to me, is their selling point number one, notwithstanding the really great design.
Honestly, I'm not sure what to do right now.
But thanks again for your time. I'll keep posting what happens.
    Best,
    Martin

  • 2 way sync - but calendar only one way?

    Hi!
I've just performed the first 2 way sync between my Outlook 2007 and my Z10. Surprisingly my contacts have not doubled up - which is good. But regarding the calendar the sync worked from my Outlook to my Z10 but the items on my Z10 were not added to my Outlook. Obviously I've missed something - or it's not really a 2 way sync????

  • Two way sync

I just got an iphone 5, i successfully sync'ed my address book from my Mac book pro but when i am on the road adding numbers, contacts or just updating contact info to the iphone they do not get updated on my mac book when i get home... what to i need to do to get both apple products to perform a 2 way sync ?
    Thanks for the help

    Hi Yakman,
As long as you are running iTunes 11, you should be able to set up OTA syncing with your iPhone 5. You have to hook you iPhone up to your computer initially to set it up, but once set up, you can sync whenever you like via Settings>General>iTunes Wifi Sync.
Just make sure you have checked all of your settings for the Device sync in iTunes, then set it up to do a Wifi Sync (you do this in iTunes under the Device when it is hooked up to the computer).
Here is a link to a support article with instructions on how to set up the Wifi sync:

  • IPod Touch "Two-Way Sync"

I am pleased to report that I just returned from a month-long trip throughout Europe and my iPod touch worked like a charm. I bought it prior to departing to use it for mobile internet access as I new I would find WiFi-enabled places everywhere. It enabled me to stay in contact with with friends and family via .Mac e-mail, book guest-houses on-line, share photos with travel companions, not to mention having access to music on the long train rides. In short, a great digital travel tool.
    But here is the question:
I came home and found that while the e-mails that were sent to me (and read on the road on my iPod) were available to read on my MacBook, I was not able to find the e-mails in my Desktops's Send Box that I originally sent from my iPod Touch. I am not sure if I need to set this "two-way" sync up via the iPod touch when I hook it up to my computer via iTunes or is it something I need to arrange on my computer via Systems Preferences?
    Thanks kindly in advance,
    john

    Hi John,
Nope. Messages sent from my iPod Touch do not appear in the Sent folder either on the desktop or the .mac web mail. I am wondering, how do you have System Preferences- .Mac under Sync set up? I just noticed that "Synchronize with .Mac" for me is set on Manually. Perhaps you have it on Automatic? Also, on the iPod itself, I now find that there is a section to set up Sent Messages to be placed in Sent messages on the Server. And you didn't have to do any of this? Seems the Sync was set up for you more readily. Let's see if these adjustments do it for me too.

  • 2 way sync between AddressBook and LDAP

Hi there. I'm looking for something that will help me do a 2-way sync between an Addressbook and an LDAP server. I've been playing with ABxLDAP/Addressbook4LDAP, and that seems to populate addressbook contacts into an LDAP server (a unidirectional sync). However, I want to do a full 2-way sync (changes made in the ldap server are synced to my local addressbook entries and vice versa).
Does anyone know of any apps to do that?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the info.
I've only seen info about Snow Leopard syncing (and it doesn't really specify 2 way) to Exchange (which is not LDAP)
Addressbookserver (www.addressbookserver.com) is also not LDAP.
I really need this to work (2 way sync) with an LDAP server.
    Thanks.

  • BIS + UW-IMAP + sendmail 2 way sync

    Hello,
I ma having a strange problem with my Blackberry users. Quick breakdown:
    1. Using UW-IMAP with sendmail for corporate email.
    2. Using BIS
    3. Using Thunderbird client
I am having trouble syncing the blackberry with IMAP via the BIS server. I have all the accounts setup for eache user on the BIS server with the sync option selected. BUT, whenever I delete a message from the blackberry using "delete on mailbox and handheld", it does not remove it from the users mail file, and is still visible in mail clients. BUT, and here's the kicker, I have the same setup with my 8830 WE and it DOES work, the 2 way sync is working fine. All my other users are on 8703E with 4.2.1.110 software. I have 4.5 on my 8830.
All mail accounts are the same on the sendmail server and I can see the BIS logins to the imap service.
I cannot seem to find out where my account and other user accounts differ. Could it be related to the software on the BB? I have setup a users account on my BB to test and it still failed, so I wouldn't think the device is the issue.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Paul

It is fixed now. You'll likely find that you don't have the SYNC service book for Gmail in your list of books on your phone, just CCAL and CMIME.. Resending the books did not solve the issue. The SYNC book would never register. It is a mystery why. But it can be solved thanx to the righteous Carolyn from RIM support. You'll also notice on your BIS login that the some sync settings are grayed out (inaccessible). That ain't right.
It goes without saying, before you monkey with your BB - do a full data backup. Your apps should all be recorded on Appworld.
Make sure you are using your carrier's approved version of the OS.
Delete your gmail account from your phone. Confirm on your BIS site.
Do a security wipe. Include data and programs.
    Resend the service books.
Add your gmail account manually to your phone and remember to set up your sync options. At this point, you should see your display run through the sync process. If no error occurs during this process you should be golden. Check your contacts to see if they came down from google.
When you restore your data, do a manual restore and ensure Address Book and Calendar are unchecked. This may not be required but it is what we did. A drawback is that your contacts that use a BB will not have their PINs recorded; however, if they are on BBM, their PINs will show up there.
    Good luck.

  • How to 2-way sync?

    Hey all,
Can anyone tell me how to setup a 2-way sync between the client and the server?
Right now I can get it so that the client either overwrites the server or vice versa. But that is not acceptable, I need to be able to have data entered on the client and different data on the server and then sync everthing up.
    Thanks.
    Darren.

    Darren,
Oracle Lite synchronization supports three types of conflict detection and resolution. They are, Server-wins, client-wins and custom.
It sounds like you are interested in custom conflict detection and resolution. In custom conflict detection and resolution you must provide a server side stored procedure that provides your business logic to handle detected conflicts.
You may find a discussion of this in the Oracle9i Lite 5.0.2 Developers Guide for Windows in section 5.5
