  • IPod Nano 6th gen won't sync - help please!

I lost my iTunes and all my music when my laptop died, but managed somehow to get it all back onto my new laptop - none of my music is purchased though iTunes but downloaded separately or from CDs. However when I sync my iPod it doesn't actually change anything or add new songs from my iTunes, and playlists on my iPod do not appear in my iTunes. Help please! I've tried manually managing my music and syncing but that doesn't work either, and when I plugging it into my computer it says on the iPod screen that its syncing but it doesn't show that it is in iTunes.

Depending on how you add content to your iPod, have you seen this article?

  • DEAD new ipod, used 2 hrs, won't charge, turn on or reset, help please?

Today my son was happily using his brand new IPod, then left it to charge, even though it was still half full. The do not disconnect screen came on, so he left it charging. When he came back, the screen was blank! It will not even charge, will NOT turn on, will NOT reset and we have checked the computer settings. I am a mum, never used Ipods before, but looking at the discussions they are bewildering, why so many problems??? Can someone please just tell me the answer without all the tech talk! I have no idea on reinstalling things or what a firewire is. This is brand new so why should we be encountering all this hassle, very stressful and frustrating. Please help if someone has found a way around it without being too technical. Thank you.
    Windows XP Version 5.1

    Hi Shiela,
First off, let's do this to safely disconnect your iPod from your computer (at this point, just unplugging it may cause some problems):
1 - Close all running applications on your computer, and save your data. Shut down your computer.
2 - After the computer had fully stopped running and is shut down, disconnect your iPod from the cord which connects to your computer.
With your iPod disconnected from your computer, start your computer back up.
Then, make sure that your iPod's "Hold" switch (lodated on the top of your iPod) isn't turned on. The orange side of the switch is the On position, while white is off. Switch your iPod's Hold switch to the Off (white) position.
Then, reset your iPod by pressing the Menu and center buttons together for at least 6 seconds. You might need to try this several times.
If the iPod still doesn't seem to be respond, connect it to your computer again, and try resetting the iPod (see above) a few times while it's connected to your computer.
    Any success with trying that?

  • My 3g 30gb ipod is continually reseting itself- please help

hello, my first post on apple support so thank you for looking.
my 3g 30gb has ceased to work!- every time i try to turn it on it displays the apple logo for about 10seconds then this disapears very briefly then after another 5 seconds the logo disapears and this process starts again it does this continual reseting until it ran out of battery! very annoying
I tried to connect it to my mac to see in vein if this would make it snap out of what its doing - it didn't.
has anyone else experainced this?, or heard of anyone having this problem.
any words of advice greatly appreciated!
    thanks in advance
    J

I was about to post the same issue, when I saw this one. My 60gb photo iPod for Windows has the same problem. I would restore it, but it never starts up all the way to be able to run the Update/Restore software.
I start it up, and it displays the apple for about 5-8 seconds, then starts up again. If left alone, it will continue to do this until the battery runs dead. All the while, in a quiet room, you can hear the "bweee... bweee... bweee..." of the drive spinning up from a dead stop every time it restarts.
If anyone has any ideas at all, I'd love to know if this was a software or hardware problem and if there is any way to fix a software problem without being able to start the ipod. Is there some equivalent of "safe mode" for a desktop?

  • My iPad Retina 4th Gen. won't charge Help!! :(

Please refer to the details below:
Device: iPad (4th Gen) WIFI + Cellular 32GB (No External Damages)
Accessories: "Brand New" Genuine Apple Lightning Cable 1M and 12W Adapter (Bundled w/ the iPad)
    iOS Version: 7.1.1 (Latest)
    Scenario:
My old cable broke so I decided to buy a new one, but then when I tried to charge my iPad using my newly bought cable and my 12w adapter, my iPad won't charge! I've tried the cable on both orientations since lightning cables are reversible yet to no avail still my device won't charge. At first, maybe it is my 12w adapter that is broken so I tried another good known 12w adapter but still my iPad won't charge. Running out of options, I called a friend who has a newly bought iPad 4th Gen and tried out my accessories, her iPad is CHARGING!! actually it fully charged her iPad! So my accessories are really working fine! Tried my cable and 12w adapter to different lightning devices and all devices where charging and syncing. I've aslo tried to plug the ipad to my computer using my newly bought cable and surprisingly it is charging and detected by itunes. But I know it really takes time charging on the computer and I'm really confused why my iPad will charge on a computer but NOT when using my adapter plugged on a wall socket which practically is weird since it is confirmed that my accessories are working. I've tried other brand new lightning cables still it won't charge on the wall using the adapter.
    Isolations Made:
    12w adapter = Confirmed Working
    Lightning Cable = Confirmed Working
iPad (4th Gen) = Already done "Cleaning the ports" ,"Restart" , "Reset" and "Complete Restore including DFU Restore"
Buttom Line: iPad will charge on the computer but NOT on the wall socket using the 12w adapter and same cable

    - Did you everset up yur iPod on the "new" computer? To do thatyou need to either mrestore the iPod from a backup on the computer or restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
    - Is the computerauthorized for the iitem in the iTunes library?
    - Is the iPod signed into that account?

  • Ipod 5th Gen. Corrupted. Help please.

Hi there everybody, im sorry if this has already been posted before, but this is my first post here.
I have a 5th generation ipod 30gb, it is saying corrupted once plugged in via itunes. When I do manage to start it, its showing no music at all I had around 1,500 songs on this ipod and did not back them up. I have tried rebooting, nothing seems to work. I hate to hear the only option I have left is to restore, so hopefully someone will be able to help me.
I was going to click the restore button after hours of research and getting nowhere, but I thought id try here as a last resort.
My photos are still on there, so hopefully I wont lose those as well as all of my music!
Problem started with low battery power I think, as a small battery sign popped up, which id never seen before. Eventually rebooting got the ipod to turn on, but my music has gone from the ipod. Is there a way I can access them in any ipod files or are they gone forever. I would like to know if I can copy my music onto my computer somehow. I cant access the ipod menu on itunes, just getting one screen saying restore. I dont think I had disc use enabled either, as I tired some of those steps earlier and got no where. Im using a mac so not as familiar as I was with windows.
Any help would be apriciated as the music on there was very important to me!

"although it's letting me put the songs back on it'll only let my sync my entire library, rather than picking and choosing which songs i want on (which is what i normally do). Also when my ipod is connected to th computer it won't let me play the songs off my ipod thru itunes like it normally does, in fact it won't even let me click on them."
Your ipod is set for automatic sync. With your ipod plugged in and itunes open, click on your ipod in the panel on the left. That should take you to the Summary screen (if not, click the Summary tab at the top). Check the box that says "Manually manage music and videos", and you should be able to edit and play songs directly from your ipod.

  • My iTunes won't open help please! what should I do?

My iTunes won't open, when I try to open it, it says:
"The file 'i Tunes Library.itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes."
What can I do about this? please help me.

Ps.. My quicktime opens and I can search for music and play it but itunes still wont' open
    thank you kindly.
another couple of preliminary questions aimed at narrowing in on possible culprits.
    (1) do you have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on the PC?
    (2) reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?

  • EMac won't start, help please

I am having two problems with my eMac. The first, much more pressing, problem is that it won't start. I was having problems installing the newest version of quicktime, so on the quicktime forums I read to Repair Permissions in the Disk Utility, so I did this, and everything seemed to go well, but when I restarted my computer, it would not load. It is stuck on a light grey screen with a dark grey apple logo in the middle. My keyboard won't repond to the point where i can't even open the disk drive. My second, much less urgent problem is that my disk drive doesn't recoginize any cd's, even ones that I have used with this computer before. this problem really means nothing at this point, since my computer won't start anyways.
If anyone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I tied all of the suggestions for my problem.
You see a blank, gray screen
    1. Make sure the latest firmware for your computer is installed. Check Apple Downloads for the latest versions. (Yes, it is installed)
    2. Disconnect all peripheral devices, except for the Apple keyboard and mouse. This includes ADB, serial, USB, FireWire, SCSI, and PCMCIA devices. If this resolves the issue, connect one device at a time, restarting after each one, until you've determined which device is causing the issue. (All are disconnected)
    3. Remove third-party hardware upgrades such as memory (RAM), microprocessor upgrade cards, and PCI cards. If this resolves the issue, add back one item at a time, restarting after each one, to isolate the issue. Note: Apple does not provide technical support for Mac OS X when used with third-party microprocessor upgrade cards. (Don't even have any third-party hardware upgrades)
    4. Start up from your Mac OS X installation disc and check the hard disk with Disk Utility or, if necessary, fsck. (CD-drive will not even open, so can't do this)
    5. If you are comfortable doing so, reset your computer's Power Management Unit. Specific directions are available elsewhere in the Knowledge Base. (Can't find how to do this on the anywhere)
    6. Additional tips may be available in this document. (Document also had nothing that worker)
I will be buying a macbook regardless after my income tax comes in, so I don't deem the computer as worthy of spending any money to fix, but this was a pretty expensive machine to just discard, so I would like to try to get it running again.

  • IPod won't restore. help please?

I just reinstalled iTunes a week ago, because my iPod has the message "Connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore." So I reinstalled it, and I plugged my iPod into the computer. iTunes pops up, I click the restore button, and it says it's restoring it. I leave it alone, and an hour later nothing on the computer screen says it's done, and my iPod still has that message when I (safely) unplug it from the computer. I have done this several times with the same results. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Please help!

    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 37
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • Leopard 10.5.6 won't install, help please

I have a Powermac G5 1.8 ghz dual processor running OSX 10.4.11. In light of the fact Snow Leopard won't run on Powermac g% I decided to purchase one of the few remaining OSX Leopard 10.5.6 Family Packs off Amazon.co.uk.
When I insert the Leopard install disc after a few moments of reading the install DVD the screen prompts you to restart your system with the disc still installed. On boot up all I seem to get is a white screen with the Apple logo, with no further progression possible beyond this point. (It is as though the system is struggling to read the DVD).
Please can anyone offer any suggestions or do I need a product return due to a faulty disc.

How long are you letting it sit in that state? A few minutes? An hour or more?
Please can anyone offer any suggestions or do I need a product return due to a faulty disc.
I'd try giving my optical drive's lens a cleaning first.

  • ITouch flashing colors wildly, won't reset, help!

My friend's 1st gen iTouch suddenly started wildly flashing bars and rectangles of color when you turn it on. The only way to stop it is to do a reset (holding down the top and bottom buttons for awhile). Unfortunately, the same thing happens when you turn it on again. I posted a short video of it on youtube so you can see what it's doing. All suggestions greatly appreciated! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNwT4Q4u49o&fmt=18
    Thanks, Gretchen

Ah, holding the home button for a very long time did eventually lead the Mac to recognize it. I did a full restore, and it is now recognized, BUT it's still flashing wildly!
I'm guessing it's just the Touch's video circuit that's fried because I can turn it on and swipe my finger across the screen as if I'm unlocking it, and I hear the faint unlocking click, but throughout all this the crazy patterns continue. I get slightly different patterns depending on what I do with the screen, but it's still frenetic patterns and colors.
    Any further suggestions?
