30GB iPod stops in middle of songs shows apple on screen

I have a brand new 30GB iPod I'm running on Windows xp. In the middle or at anytime during a song the ipod with stop playing, show an apple against a black screen for about 5 seconds then return to the main menu.
I have latest iTunes, I've updated it, restarted it and even fully restored it. It continues to have the problem.
Please help.
Thanks,
Matthew.

I never had the problem prior to updating the firmware on my iPod. I personally think that it's unacceptable, and needs to be addressed right away.

my 1st gen. ipod stops halfway through a song and restarts. but it doesn't do this with all songs, just some. i updated the songs from my ipod onto it again, then manually ejected it, but nothing is working..
    HELP!!

Try reseting it by holding both Menu and Center buttons down untill the Apple Logo pops up(you my have to do this a couple times for it to work). Or you can restore its factory settings and put the songs back on the iPod. But if that doesen't work try calling this number Apple Disability Solutions (800) 767-2775 and see if you can get yourself further help.

No, sounds like when you dropped it an cracked the screen it may have also damaged the logic board or the repair person damaged a cable.

    1. Don't confuse "Apple ID" with iTunes Account ID.  You can have many Apple IDs but only one iTunes account active at a time.
    2. If you "changed" your iTunes account ID, you actually have 2 accounts - one under the old name plus the new name.
    3. You can't merge the accounts - they remain separate.  Apps purcahsed under the old account name will update ONLY WHEN THE PHONE IS SIGNED IN TO THE OLD ACCOUNT NAME  and visa versa.
    4. Likewise, you can sync only the apps, music, media purchased under the account the phone AND iTunes are signed in to.

  • ITunes 11 airplay stops in middle of songs, why?

We have iTunes 11 on a MacBook Air with Lion (10.7.5, all current updates). Occasionally, in the middle of a song playing over Airplay, iTunes stops streaming the song. As best we can tell it appears to be random. If we go back to a song that it previously stopped on, but it doesn't stop again. Thought it may be Energy Savings settings, but it's set for 3 hours before sleeping, and 2 hours to turn off screen. Now "Put the had disk to sleep..." is set, and perhaps this is it. But according to my wife, this never happened under iTunes 10.x, it has just started with iTunes 11.
I'll try the "hard disk sleep" setting and report back, but any other ideas?

I am having the same problem, with a similar model of iMac (early 2007). I play my music through my sound system using my Apple TV 2 and airplay. It has worked perfectly until I updated the Apple TV, Mountain Lion, and thus, iTunes, on Nov. 30th. Now, the music just stops after 30-45 minutes, in mid-song, just as Fox8 described. So far, I have:  rebooted the computer, reset the Apple TV to factory settings, rebooted the Apple Extreme router, restored the computer to 2:00am on Nov. 30th (itunes would not run at all, saying that the music library was created with a newer version), re-updated Mountain Lion and itunes... everything I can think of. Still, the music stops. I have eliminated the Apple TV (streams Netflix and iphoto just fine), and the router (ditto) The only thing that leaves is either a Mountain Lion problem or an itunes problem.  I hope Apple gets this resolved; if anyone has found a solution, please post it here.
I am going to try to stream via Airport Express and see if that works, using an iDevice as a remote. Apple delayed the release of itunes 11 so it would be right, but it appears it's not quite there. We need a 11.01 patch. Quickly, please. Or at least a way to downgrade to the version that did indeed "just work."

  • IPod nano will not connect and the Apple logo screen stays up

    Hello,
Earlier today I shut my iPod nano off normally (by holding the pause/play button). Later, when I went to listen to it again, I found it wouldn't turn on. I tried resetting it, and I got the low-battery signal, so I plugged it in. The thing is, the Apple logo screen is illuminated and I cannot get it off that screen, and normally when I plug my iPod in, iTunes comes up. iTunes didn't come up and it says there is nothing plugged in. What should I do?
      Windows XP

    Okay.
If the Apple logo is not going away and the iPod won't get to the main menu (when not connected to the computer), try what those links suggest.
If your iPod does not get to the main menu or say Do Not Disconnect, it will not be recognized by the computer. You have to get the iPod to say Do Not Disconnect, show the main menu, or just get past the Apple logo before it will be recognized. The above links will help you get the iPod get past the Apple logo.
The iPod cannot be recognized by iTunes or the computer if it is stuck at the Apple logo.
Finally, don't connect the iPod while the iPod preferences in iTunes are open.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • How to fix your iPod when it's frozen on the apple logo screen?

I tried to charge and restart it, but neither one worked.  It has remained on the apple logo screen for two days.

Two days is two days too long. Read this which will eventually lead you to the procedure to restore the iPod:

Thanks for the info. I tried both links but could not find an answer to my problem. *Is there anyone else out there who has the same problem?*
    I guess not!
I sent this ipod in once to Apple and they said there was nothing wrong.
take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you. *Show them* exactly what you are talking about.

  • How can I bookmark, in iTunes, so that the songs I play and then stop in middle of song then come back later - it will start where I left off.  What is the switch in iTunes to make this happen?  Thank You

In iTunes I would like to set it to bookmark where I am holding in a song on my iPOD.  Let's say I want to play a song that I listen to yesterday and stopped playing it in the middle on my iPOD.  Today, I want to listen, on my iPOD, to the same song and have it start playing where I left off yesterday.
Can someone please tell me what I have to do in iTUNES to have this feature on my iPOD?
    Thank You
    Dovid

iTunes does not have provision for automatically storing one kind of media on a separate drive, so you have some basic decisions to make first.  Do you want these movies to still appear in your iTunes library, or are you content with browsing filenames on a drive in Finder when you want to look for one?  The second's the easiest thing because then you don't have to have an external drive permanently turned on and attached to your computer (wired or wireless).  To do that you literelly only need to drag your movies folder to an archive drive and delete movies from iTunes.  To watch them again you can add it back to iTunes while holding down the option key so the movie is used from its location on the external drive.
There's ways to move the movies to an external drive while keeping them in iTunes but the external drive iwll always have to be turned on and connected to the computer or you will see a bunch of broken link exclamation marks.
Realize what you are talking about is not "backup".  Backup (which you should do) is putting a second or more copy of items on external drives for the day when your internal drive fails and everything on it is lost, inclduing all your home photos and perhaps things that have been pulled from the iTunes Store and can no longer be re-downloaded.

  • Ipod stops syncing after 20 songs

This happened to my other ipod... i went to the genius bar and the guy said there was no problem with it (he connected it and synced 40 songs in one go) but i wound up spending about 60 dollars on a refurbished ipod (from the genius bar) and i came home and the same thing is happening, it will only sync 20 songs at a time.

After nearly 2 months, and at least 40 hours, I've resolved the issue. First, it is not with the iPod or the sync cable. I've worked with "Geniuses" from the Apple Store, and found that the problem results from an iTunes corruption in Vista. The only way to correct the issue is time consuming, and not for anyone who is uncomfortable working in the depths of the OS.
First, copy the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file from your Music\iTunes\ directory to your desktop. Next, shut down your antivirus software (temporarily). Then uninstall iTunes, QuickTime, and the iPod Updater using the "Add/Remove Software" tools in the Vista Control Panel. Reboot.
Run RegEdit, and remove all entries pertaining to iTunes or QuickTime. I'm sure that only a few need to be removed, but I don't know which. So I removed them all. Reboot again. Be very careful doing this. If you don't know what you're doing, you could easily damage the OS and have major issues simply running the PC. If you're uncomfortable at all in doing so, don't do it. Find a pro to help.
Shut down the antivirus software again. Download iTunes installer (w/QuickTime) from the Apple website. Run the installer. Reboot.
Run iTunes. Don't try to play any files, shop the iTunes store or anything until you do the next step. From the File menu, select Import. Navigate to the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file that you copied to your desktop earlier. Select this file. Depending upon how many files you have in your library, this could take a minute or two, or much more. In my case, it was about 20 minutes to import 8000 tracks.
If you purchased any song from the iTunes store, you'll need to Authorize iTunes for these. To do so, select "Authorize Computer" from the Store menu. You'll need to enter your Apple account e-mail address and password. If songs were purchased on more than one account, you'll need to enter each.
Once all this is done, you should be able to sync your iPod successfully. Good luck.

  • 30GB iPod not holding as many songs as it should

In my iTunes, it says I have 4816 songs, which is 18.42 GB; but then when I try to put all of that on my 30 GB iPod it says it won't fit, and so I temporarily added some of my playlists and even that filled up the capacity to 20 GB, which is more than my entire library on iTunes. I checked the bit rate of my songs, but they are already set at 128 kbps. I don't really know what to do, so if you have any ideas I would appreciate it!

Restore it, I got my ipod working again, if it locks up (which I don't think it will) contact me or if you know how to reset the 1finger-per-hand way to that. Get the newest version Ipod updater and open it up and hit, "restore"

  • All of a sudden my iPod stopped playing and a dark gray Apple logo came up.

I was listening to my iPod nano for about 30 minutes but 20 minutes into playing, it all of a sudden stopped and an Apple logo against a dark gray background popped up. I held down the center and menu button to perform a reset and it has been working fine ever since but I am worried that this might signal a premature death to my iPod.
What caused this? I never fiddled with any menus or buttons while playing my music so it didn't occur by me inputting anything. What does that screen mean? I've had my iPod for 3 months and always listen to it in one hour intervals (since I commute to work in the city) and this never happened before.

Some people have told me something similar a few years ago... they said that they didn't do anything for a few days then their iPods resurrected (lol)... don't know if this can happen to these new iPods too, I haven't experienced this. So you should wait for a few (4-5 days) and if nothing happens then bring it back to the shop.

  • Ipod touch won't start up beyond apple on screen, just keeps flashing.  Tried restoring but I continually get error messages but none of the solutions work.  Help?

My Ipod touch stays on the start up screen with the apple and just blinks.  I have tried all suggested
resolutions but none work.  I have tried to restore it but continually get error code 1611 or 9.  I have
tried all of those solution to no avail.  Any other suggestions?

If you tried all the suggestions of:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
You likely have a hardware problem since the article says a possible cause of the 1611 error is a hardware problem.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
