38170.emlx couldn't be copied to "Messages" on my iMac in Outlook - never had this issue before? I am trying to delete message and I get this error.

Hold Option or alt key when selecting Find to Find All.
Search for Name>Contains... 38170.emlx
There you can do a Get Info on it to try to figure out the problem, open it in Mail, or trash it.

“556227.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists.
Is this a virus and if yes how can I get rid of it?

I am trying to free up room on my hard drive but keep getting the following message. “926540.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists. 926540.emix is the number given to the email I want to delete. This message appears (with a different .emix number) when I try to delete any mail. I have junk mail from 2014 to 2009 that I want to delete
Back up all data. Rebuild the mailbox. Try again to delete the message.

When trying to delete messages in mail, I've been getting this message:“74608.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists." The numbers at the beginning are always different but the ".emlx" and the rest of the statement is always the same. How can I fix this problem?

The delete button in Mail gives me this message: “91590.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists. The only thin that has changed is an OS update last evening. (Mountain Lion)
Thanks...it was spooky seeing the mail in my box suddenly disappear and blank after going to Mailbox and Rebuild. But "poof" it was up again and was able to delete without the messages telling me it had a duplicate in trash (which it did). Solved the problem.

Help!! I am trying to figure out what "74559.emlx" is. I was delating a email message when this poped up!? I higlighed the message and then hit the delete button.
I understand that my computer is full, so now I am trying to move this over to an external hard-drive, how do I know if it's been moved or just copied? How can I see what is on the computer and how "big" it is?

Regardless of that, you need to use an external drive at least large enough to backup your entire user folder (the one with a House icon). Better is to get one at least as large as your built-in drive & use something like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper! to clone the whole built-in drive to it. -
I'm getting this message when trying to delete an email; can't figure out what is causing alleged 'duplication'. Has anyone seen this before?

Apps must be stored in the Applications folder on the startup disk they were downloaded to.

I can not delete an email I get a message218130.emlx” couldn’t be copied because you don’t have permission to access “Messages”
Actually, the Finder solution did not work for me, but here's what did:
Quit Mail (for safety's sake).
Open Terminal (it's in Utilities folder usually, but since I updated to ML it's in a folder called Other for some reason)
Once Terminal is open, you'll want to login as ROOT. You do this as follows:
Type
sudo -i
Then hit Enter/Return. You'll be promoted for your system password. Hopefully you'll remember it. Enter your password then hit Enter/Return.
You'll then be at what's known as a root prompt.
At this point BE VERY CAREFUL. You have the ability at this point to completely destroy your machine beyond repair. Only type what I list below:
To find the folder that contains the email message you'll need to type the following:
find . -name "218130.emlx"
Hit Enter/Return
This will take a minute or two but what should appear in the list of other items that appear is something along the lines of the following (it won't be exactly this but will look LIKE this) I've replaced some personally identifying info:
./Users/yourname/Library/Mail/V2/POP-youremailaddress@yourmailserver/INBOX.mbox/ 0355DF0D-5E99-4798-B79E-48D71E68AF34/Data/3/2/Messages/23219.emlx
This line describes the location of the offending email. You know what to put yourself into this directory:
cd /Users/yourname/Library/Mail/V2/POP-youremailaddress@yourmailserver/INBOX.mbox/0 355DF0D-5E99-4798-B79E-48D71E68AF34/Data/3/2/Messages/
Hit Enter/Return
Notice, I left of the name of the actual email address. You'll need to be sure you type the location EXACTLY or this won't work. You want to be in the Messages folder. You'll know you're there because your Terminal prompt will look something like this:
Your Name - iMac:Messages
Then just to be sure you're in the right place, type
ls
Hit Enter/Return
You should then see something like this:
iMac:Messages root# ls
23013.emlx 23096.emlx 23100.emlx 23156.emlx 23210.emlx 23213.emlx 218130.emlx
You'll see the offending message. Now, you delete ONLY this message. Type:
rm -f 218130.emlx
That's RM at the start above. You'll need to type it in lower case. Be sure that's all you type.
Hit Enter/Return
You'll should be disappointed at the results because it will look like nothing happened. You can hit ls and Enter/Return one more time and the offending file should be gone.
EXIT TERMINAL. DO NOT TYPE ANYTHING ELSE. DO NOT "POKE AROUND". THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO EXPLORE. SERIOUS SYSTEM DAMAGE CAN BE CAUSED FROM HERE. EXIT TERMINAL NOW.
Now re-open Mail - the message will still appear to be in there, but magically, you can delete it. you can also delete it from your Trash for good measure. -
Still using the @mac.com mail address and up to date on everything, but have not gone to Maverick. All of a sudden Mail wouldn't let me delete. Said that title of email was already in trash. And sure enough it was. Clicking on the help button on the message gets Nothing.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
How can I send messages to Trash. I have been able to do it for two years, until this morning. Thank you.

We have received messages that we cannot open and cannot delete, when we try to delete the messages we get an error message. One of the messages reads, "195427.emix" couldn't be copied because yolu don't have permission to access "Messages". How can we delete these?

Hi, I have a problem with getting my apple Id working for me. It's been 2 months since it happened and Apple failed to act. I am sorry to say that, but your security makes my life miserable – it’s been 2 months since my Apple ID account got stuck, and since then I cannot update 37 applications (to date), i.e. most of my applications. It took your service 1 month to finally understand why this happened to me, and it took me tens of emails to you and 3 hours of telephone conversation to find out the reason for my problem. Get someone in the partners-telephone carriers company (it is Orange as carreer and Cellcom as seller of the phone) authorized to Identify me in personal encounter in one of the branches in Israel (where I live) and make sure it is really me, and get the ******* system accept my password and let me use my phone.

Vitas DijokasWell, it seems waiting is not my strong suit..! I renamed a javascript file called recovery to sessionstore. This file was in the folder sessionstore-backups I had copied from mozilla 3 days ago, when my tabs were still in place. I replaced the sessionstore in mozilla's default folder with the renamed file and then started mozilla. And the tabs reappeared as they were 3 days ago!
So there goes the tab problem. But again when I started mozilla the window saying "a script has stopped responding" appeared, this time the script being: chrome//browser/contenttabbrowser.xml2542
If someone knows how to fix this and make firefox launch normally, please reply! Thank you

I have a problem storing numbers in files. WHen i store them, they are stored as ANSI numbers. Which means I have a limit of 255. Anything over this becomes a '?' How would I go about getting around this limitation? Should I store them as strings?
