3G iPhone issues?

I have a few issues with my 3G iPhone. When I turn on my phone I get "No Service at the top of the screen for about 20seconds. Also while typing a text it will get extreme lag time so I have to turn iPhone off and back on and it'll be fixed for awhile. Also I noticed my screen has a yellow hue to it unlike the 1st gen iPhone. Also my phone number doest show up in iTunes on the summary page for iPhone. Finally the supplied headphones are extremely hard to insert and remove into the 3g iPhone.
I had the 1st gen iPhone since its released and never had these issues.
Am I the only one having these issues or is this common? What should I do? I tried calling apple and got placed on hold for ever.

I don't know how much the 'yellow' is bothering you. Below is a post from another site that might prove helpful. If this is too much greek for you, then perhaps Apple help will have some useful information. To check your firmware version, I believe you go to Settings\General\About and look at Version.
"Update: Restore via iTunes to download a new version of the firmware (2.0, 5A347). The colors will look much better after you restore. The shipping firmware on the iPhone 3G is 2.0 5A345. After the restore, the colors will be close to v1 iphone colors."

I am experiencing phantom email in my exchange account. This has been happening once per day. I have turned off email, and turned it back on. this solves the issue but the problem keeps recurring daily. Please help. I am almost ready to go to a Galaxy.

Contact the Exchange administrator.
Delete and re-add the account.
Switching devices is unlikely to resolve the issue as it's not really an iPhone issue.

Multiple iPhone Issues

I have been having multiple iPhone issues after updating my phone to iOS 6.1 and restoring it my phone number is grayed out on Facetime and iMessage in Settings and sometimes when I go to the app store the old app store design loads that was in iOS 5 and the search and updates and buttons below get reaaranged
It looks like that in messages and Facetime
NOTICE THAT THE EMAILS AND NUMBER ARED EDITED!
Please help me fix this issue

have you tried turning off imessage in settings and then turning it back on again to re-activate? have you tried resetting the phone by holding the sleep/wake button and the home button until the phone restarts?

Ingress software or iPhone issue over app crash and battery heating up

Hi all
As you know the ingress games requires you to keep the phone while moving around to recharge the XM, and of course that reduce dramatically the battery, so I do carry a battery pack or two.
Recently, when the phone is kept on for a few hours my iPhone 4s automatically shut down, or even crash the ingress app. and the phone heats up after kept on for over just over 3 hrs, and sometimes beyond this the phone shuts down.
Does anyone have this battery heating up issues or automatic shutting down after hours of keeping the phone on even connected to a battery pack?

While on the HOME screen double-press the Home button. The Quick Launch bar will appear on the bottom of the screen. Hold any icon until they all display "-", then tap the "-" on each one until they are all gone.
Next, reboot the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears.
BTW, this assumes your phone is not jailbroken. If it is then that is your problem, and you will have to find solutions somewhere else, as it can't be discussed in an Apple-hosted forum.

Jabber for Windows / iPhone - issue with photo and search

I have an issue regarding Cisco Jabber for Windows as well as iPhone & iPad.
I recently upgraded our Call Manager infrastructure from 8.6.5 to 10.0. Along with that, I wanted to rollout the new Jabber for Windows (9.7.2) because now we use a very old version (9.2.1).
After I upgraded my test client, I noticed that the user photos (which are retrieved from active directory) were gone.
So for the first time, I decided to modify the the jabber-config.xml (I attatched the two different versions).

My attempt is to achive these goals:
1) I want one config file which is working with Jabber for Windows, iPhone & iPad, Android as well as Jabber for Mac
2) I want a secure connection from the client to our directory server
3) I want to retrieve the user photos from the active directory user (attribute thumbnailPhoto)
4) Jabber should find only users which are a member of the active directory group "example" (example is a nested group which contains several users and at least _one_ other group). Until now, the whole active directory was searched for users/contacts.
So far, 1) and 2) seems to work fine. 3) and 4) are the troublemakers and I really don't no why.
Can somebody help me?

First I had to uncheck "Use UDS for Contact Resolution" and then I had to create a new jabber-config.xml and upload it to the TFTP server.
But there are a few limitations you have to deal with. But I have mentioned that in the other thread.

Iphone issues with wifi connection?

while connected to my home network internet connection does not work properly.
Most of the time safari will work fine, although sometimes it can say can't connect... but the most annoying of all is that itunes almost ALWAYS gets the "cannot connect to itunes store" error. it will often work ok when i first load it, and then if i click say the updates or seach buttons it will try to load and then fail, or if i try to install an app it keeps saying "cant connect" with the option to retry.. if i retry 10-15 times eventually it might work..
my home network is fine. i have a few laptops that connect to it, and other iphones that connect to my network experience the same problems.
my router is a billion 7500G

i gave it a go last nite, same problem.
this morning i opened the appstore while connected to wifi (with bluetooth on).. and mind you i was probably sitting about 6 metres from the router through a wall so my connection should have been perfect
as i opened the appstore it loaded fine. i click "updates" i get the dreaded "cannot connect to itunes" message. after trying a couple of times i get the page to load eventuall, and when i try to instal an app update, i get the same message with the "retry option". after retrying 5-6 times i couldnt be bothered anymore and gave up.
i should also point out that my internet connection is fine.. adsl2+, which is pretty much as good as it gets here in australia.
to me it seems to be some ort of issue between my billion router and the iphone, being incompatible in some way, whether its configuration or not..
on another forum somebody suggested a while ago that i try to set a static ip for the phone.. did that to no avail..

IPhone Issues with USB Connection and Bluetooth in GM cars

I recently purchased a 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS/TC and it has a USB connection for an iPod. Prior to the 2.1 updated the USB connection worked flawless as well did my handsfree/bluetooth. I had the Apple Genius Bar check my iPhone for any issues due to a corrupt update but everything turned up fine. When i connect to my car I receive an error message (iPod Did Not Authenticate. Check iPod Version). Also my bluetooth will sync but when you answer the phone using hands free you get no audio from the iPhone or speakers in the car. I used a friends iPod and everything worked fine but when I connect with a new iPod it displays the same error. I have contacted GM but they said talk to Apple.
If anyone can help please let me know.

Well you got me thinking about your question, and I guess I didn't get it the first time. Again, I own the same car - 09 Chevy Cobalt SS/TC, Black. A lot of fun! I plugged my iPhone into the radio USB connection and get the same error. The GM radio does not support the iPhone. It will not authenticate. The GM radios' firmware is looking for an iPod, not an iPhone. That is expected. As far as the iPhone and it's Bluetooth, again the iPhone's Bluetooth hands free works fine, except I cannot answer the iPhone during an incoming call without first unlocking the iPhone then pressing the mute button on the steering wheel. For what it's worth the iPhone will charge through the USB connection. I'm a little confused on what you are trying to connect. Bottom line, an iPod should always work, an iPhone, not at all. Lastly, I have purchased the GM Personal Audio Link (PAL) and hope to use it with my iPod so I can put the iPod in the glove compartment. Although I have heard a lot of negative comments and issues with it for being slow and sluggish. If so, I'll be sending it back and I'll stay with the USB connection. I'll let you know how that works.

New Airport Extreme and iPhone Issues

I've had the networking day from ****. I previously had a 3rd Gen Time Capsule at our restaurant, connected to a Cisco 26port gigabit POE switch and Comcast digital voice and internet. Over the past few days, employees have reported trouble accessing the the Wifi network. After several restarts and firmware upgrades (including the dreaded "firmware problem" to fine update), nothing worked. I changed channels, back to auto, back to specific channels, back to auto. Made open guest networks. Nothing worked consistently. My iPhone might connect and my friend's might not. Nor his laptop consistently. Our Axis network cameras might take a bit extra time to connect. All quite random and quite frustrating.
So I swap out an older Airport Extreme (4th gen I believe) using the same configuration as the TC (Time Capsule). It works fine, except for the last port not working as expected. No matter, I plug the mac mini into the Cisco switch and off we go. Nevertheless, I'm still told we are suffering random Wifi issues. So I buy a brand new AE (5th gen) today to replace that one. Should work like a charm I thought. Right....
Several hours later, I finally have the new AE working, but only after doing several hard resets/factory restores, the works. For some reason, the mac mini could not successfully update any of the connected AEs - whether connected directly into the same AE, or if the Mini was connected to the switch. Nothing worked. Every time I tried to update the AE, it would hang and force me to unplug and plug it back in. It would also never save setting changes. I finally resorted to a friend's macbook to be able to restore it successfully. And once that worked, the mini was able to update the AE flawlessly. Our Point of Sales (POS) machines connect fine, our cameras connect fine, wifi printer connects, and the mini connects, and everything has internet.
Except my iPhone 5. Of course. It gets a signal fine (full bars). It gets an IP address. But I can't surf the web. Or download email. Or iMessages. Anything. No internet access. I try hard restarts on my iphone. I try assigning IP addresses by MAC address. I try resetting the AE. I try renaming the WiFi name. Nothing. I can make a guest network that works (on a different IP table, btw - 172, not 192.) But other than that, no access. Grrrr.
So I have a "working" AE router where some devices successfully connect (through wifi and ethernet) and some dont' (wifi iPhone). My iPhone connects fine to my home TC. So shouldn't be anything to do with that. But I'm at a loss. I'm going to go back and restore everything and power cycle everything tonight or tomorrow night. I don't know if that will help, but it's worth a try. Lord knows it feels like I've tried everything else.
Anyone have any good ideas of where to start besides voodoo dolls and baseball bats?

I took mine back, because I was having these very same issues. We use contivity too. I was able to connect only to one of three of the servers we manage (in Europe). I couldn't connect to the servers in Asia or here in the USA.
Replaced the Airport Extreme with my trusty old d-link 624, and no issues connecting to any of the three hubs.
Otherwise, I liked the Airport Extreme, and I'll consider buying it again when and if they address this VPN issue. I work at home so its obviously a "deal breaker" for me.

New iPhone 3G PC user facing loads of PC specific iPhone issues...HELP!!

I finally switched from windows mobile to iphone (my most recent device was the Verizon XV6800), and have to say that I am very close to switching back in the coming days....
There were obviously things that annoyed me about the windows mobile pocket pc phones but I didn't realize until now how much they did do. The iPhone is very cool but lacks multiple basic functions that seem intentionally left out.
BUT I love the iPhone for all of it's other functionality which as I'm sure everyone knows is absolutely amazing, and would rather not switch back to my primitive-yet functional windows mobile device, so I was hoping someone here could recommend some options I have to deal with these issues...
Below is a list of the 'deal-breakers' for me, and unless I can find a solution to address most of them (if not all of them), I am likely to switch back to my Windows Mobile phone...
1) No ability to synchronize your Outlook inbox and email folders (personal data file or .pst). I have been an Outlook user for years and am not about to change. What's so hard about syncing the emails in my inbox and my email folders? Windows mobile has been doing that for years.
2) No ability to sync tasks. What??!! I've already forgotten to do a couple things since I received my iPhone last week. This is basic. And the fact that Apple is letting a company, Chapura, create an app, "KeyTask" that syncs your Outlook tasks for $10 per year is criminal. This is a basic function that should be included and is in all WM phones.
3) Outlook notes. No support. Enough said.
4) No ability to invite attendees when creating a calendar event. I don't even use this option more than with my wife to remind each other of what we are doing but how then are business users supposed to adopt to this? This is just a basic feature of Calendar that has been on WMobile devices for years.
5) Cut and paste. The day I got my iphone someone texted me and asked me to txt them another person's phone number. Instead of going into my contacts and copying the number I had to find a pen and paper and write it down, then type it back into my txt. No stylus but carry a pen! This is incomprehensible. My pocket pc 2002 device had this feature and palm had this feature in the 1990s.
6) No ability to save files to the hard drive. Why? It's a hard-drive. I own it. Let me use it. What do you care if I save files to it? I don't want to have everything in my email and open it from there. What happens when I'm on the subway for 30 minutes and no internet access? Saving files on hard-drives has been a basic feature of computers since the 1980s. I want to put word docs, excel docs, powerpoint docs, PDFs and other stuff on my device to reference at my whim.
7) Why no T9 dialing to search for contacts? With over 500 contacts in my phone, if someone isn't in my favorites its pretty annoying finding them. The number of steps I need to make to actually call a phone number is multiple times more than on my windows mobile 6 phone. If you would just add T9 it would be a huge help. Then I could find contacts with only my thumb.
8) GPS. Why no turn-by-turn directions?
9) I need Office Mobile suite. Many MACs already have office. Why not the iphone? How is it supposed to be business ready without mobile office?

I, for one think you have made many very valid points. I was amazed at what was left out of the iPhone OS and now, not available thru apps. My predecessor to the iPhone was a Treo. Pretty limited on bells and whistles, but long on basic functionality and ability to sync with Outlook. For Apple to come out with a device that leaves out so many key functions, as aptly enumerated in your message, is jaw dropping. Cool aside, function in a business tool is paramount!
One correction: email folder syncing is possible with an IMAP account. Not perfect, but functional.
I have been using KeyTasks from Chapura to sync Tasks with Outlook on my PC. (Seems I am the only one on the planet.) It does the syncing reasonably well. However, some basic issues handicap it from Chapura's version on the Treo couunterpart:
-It crashes every time I try to create a task on the iphone.
-There is no support for "Recurring Tasks". No indication a task is recurring. cannot create "recurring reminder" (If I could create a task). When I check a task completed, it does the same in outlook and the recurring reminder is intitiated. Kind of blind faith on the iPhone.
-No "Contacts" field to just click over to a contact entry to call or make notes. I find I have to put contacts names in the "notes" field. Shouldn't have to.
Deficiencies aside, KeyTasks is the only game in town to sync Tasks between iPhone and Outlook. $10 for an essential business tool? How quickly will people spend 5 times that for cool entertainment every week? We must be the only ones out here for which Outlook Tasks capability is non-negotiable and we need to carry it on our iPhones!

IPhone Issues - Volume - Can't TXT to more than one contact??? - ....

Don't get me wrong but there are a few major issues I have with the iPhone...
First of all I was sitting in traffic today and got my first call on my new 8G iPhone. It wasn't very loud and I could barely hear my friend at all! I checked the volume and pushed the button on the site of the phone to crank it up but it was already all the way up. At first I figured it must have been an issue with my friends phone but I have gotten several more calls since then and even in a quiet room it's "soft" to say the least and anywhere else I am basically just guessing what people are talking about when I catch words here and there. Is anyone else having this problem?
The second problem came when I wanted to send a txt to about 30 of my friends to let them know my phone number had changed. I opened SMS, created a new message, added my first contact, and then went to add the second and I couldn't find any option to do that. Am I just not seeing it or can you only send a txt to one person at a time? I mean this is ridiculous! Am I just missing something?
The third issue was when I was txting a friend and I was telling her how good the camera was. She told me to send her a photo so I took one and then figured out that I obviously couldn't send it to her. I asked her to send me one and I ended up just getting a txt telling me to go to a web site and enter an obscure username/password. Since you can't cut and paste on the iPhone I ended up having to pull out a pen and paper to write these down and then reenter them in safari. Apple... I have a $600 camera phone and I can't send MMS! You need to fix this!!!!!!!!!
The only thing physically I don't like about the phone is the headphone jack size. My favorite pair of headphones won't even fit without purchasing an ugly adapter.

Ipod on iphone issue

I.ve been having a problem with my music player on my iphone for about a month now.
Sometimes when im playing music on it it automatically stops playing and then some times it starts back after a couple of seconds or so. its very randomly but when it starts doing it it just keep stopping and starting again. Its very annoying ive rebooted my whole iphone once alrdy becuz of this issue but it started again. it doesnt do it with only one song btw but with all my songs. dunno if this is a common problem with iphone users.
I hope someone can help or have any advise.

i've had this problem, but only when my headphones are plugged in. try removing your headphones and see if your music plays fine.
also, do you have shake to shuffle turned on? you can disable it if you don't want it by going to "settings -> iPod".
if it's still going on, try playing the songs in iTunes. if the music plays fine there, delete everything from your iPhone and then resync it and see if that helps.

Transferring TV show to iPhone issue?

So I havent had an issue before and wondering if someone has any ideas why this won't work. I am trying to transfer the following TV Show to my iPhone without success - it just doesnt seem to sync. Here are the specs of the show, accd to iTunes (it is a Handbrake TV show DVD episode rip):

Well I understand what you are saying. It looks like a weird number. Here is my process:
I have used the Apple TV setting in Handbrake (newest version) to rip and convert from the DVD, as opposed to the iPhone option because I wil primarily watch these episodes on my TV but wanted ot be able to take a few with me on my iPhone for a bus ride. I havent change dthe resolution at all, simply chose the Apple TV option to encode and it came up with 561 all by itself
Do you have another suggestion how I should encode so I can watch it in best quality on my TV thru Apple TV but still have iTunes sync it with my iPhone (as of right now it doesn't transfer to the phone AT ALL)

Safari or IPhone issue with Website ..

Hey guys, .. question..
I have a Win 2003 Server and setup IIS. I've designed a website. Firast I had many *.png and a wallpaper with a size of 500K. I had issues with getting the page loaded, which mean that 2 images were loaded and the rest not. now i reduced each pictures size down to 5K. So the web site will load really quick now.
When I go to my work computer i can access my site without any issues. but the IPhone try to load but then after 5-10 minutes it don't show anything. I connected to EDGE first and then to another WIFI spot to see if it's the connection speed.
So my question, SAFARI on the IPhone do show lots of websites like ESPN or CNN which have a bigger data size but it can't show a simply site that i've made.
what could be the issue? I testd it just now from y work system and it pops up without issues, i also did a cold bootup (IPhone)

To help narrow it down some, does the page load with Safari beta for Windows on your computer?
Does the page get any errors with tools for validating the HTML of the page? Such as:
http://validator.w3.org/
Have you verified your links to the images are not pointing to your local hard drive, instead of using a URL?

SSID with WebAuth and iPhone Issues

Cisco Wireless Users,
Have anyone setup a basic SSID with WebAuth using LDAP/ACS for authentication working with the iPhone? I been having a couple of users getting the âUnable to join the networkâ error message. Have you gotten this error and if so what did you do for the fix? I'm running version 5.0.148.0 on my 4402's.

What type of encryption are you using.... is it ope with WebAuth. I have not had an issues with iPhones not being able to connect to WebAuth on any of my recent installs.... I use my iPhone for testing so I know it works.
I also think you should either downgrad to 4.2.176 or upgrade to 5.1 or 5.2. 5.0 is one of the worse codes out there.
