4.6 not showing in camera profile pulldown

I'm running P.S. CS3 and have installed Camera Raw 4.6. "Camera Raw 4.6" shows on the top of my window when I launch images from Bridge for processing in ACR, but when I go to create new color profiles in the Camera Calibration tab, 4.6 is not listed in the pulldown menu? I checked my folder in the Library and the 4.6 plug in is where it should be? Any suggestions?
Thank you for any help.

If you want to check the version of ACR, the best way is to look at the title bar of the ACR edit window. If you have the edit window in full-screen mode, you will have to change it to window mode to see the title bar. You can also check by using the Help>About in both Bridge and Photoshop (and if those two don't match, you have installation problems.
Regarding the version numbers in the calibration profiles, that can be a little confusing. Up until recently, if you wanted the most current version of the profile, you just used the highest version that appeared. If you happened to be on version 3.5 of ACR, for example, and the highest version of profile that appeared in the drop-down was 3.2, that just meant that your camera's profile hadn't been updated since 3.2 and 3.2 still was the one to use. If you also saw a 3.1 in the profile list, that meant that there was a previous profile and if you still needed it for consistency purposes, you had it there as an option. Normally, what you wanted was the highest number profile if you wanted the latest and greatest.
Recently, Adobe has changed the way it is labeling the camera profiles. Instead of version numbers, they now use names that mimic the camera manufacturer picture styles or in-camera settings. They way they have been differentiating different versions of these new profiles up until now is by specifying beta 1, beta 2, and profile name only (which is assumed to be the latest and greatest).
I have not seen any of the Adobe team members explain what they plan to do if in the future, they update what is currently considered a "non-beta" profile. I believe that this condition exists now for the 5DmkII so maybe somebody who uses that camera and has downloaded the 5.3 ACR release candidate could comment.
Bottom line: If you have a camera from a major manufacturer (Canon, Nikon, and a few others), just use the named profiles (for Canon, this would be Camera Standard, Camera Faithful, etc.) and forget the numbered ones.

  • Profiles I sent to Adobe not showing up in Profile Downloader

    Hi Eric and Simon,
When the Lens Profile Creator first came out, I created profiles for 2 Olympus lenses and emailed them to Adobe per the instructions in LPC.  When I installed the Lens Profile Downloader I didn't see them, so I sent them in again, but I still don't see them.  In fact, I don't see any lenses at all when I select Olympus as the camera type.  What gives?
    Thanks,
    Alan Fairley

Eric, I don't seem to have the project file any more, but I believe I just used the name generated by the Lens Profile Creator.  Anyway, the profile file name is "E-30 (Olympus 14-54mm Lens) - RAW.lcp"
The profile is recognized automatically in ACR and PS (I have the profile manually installed on my computer) and shows up in the Lens Profile box in Lens Filters as:
    E-30
    OLYMPUS 14-54mm Mk I (raw)
The other profile for the 11-22 is consistent with that.
    Thanks

Alan, when you created these profiles, was the Camera Name identified properly?

  • Bridge does not show my Camera Raw Adjustments in previews or thumbnails.

Bridge CS6 on my Mac is not showing my Camera Raw adjustments in a preview pane or thumbnail.
Here's how it worked until recently:
    I open a .CR2
    I make some adjustments
    I click "Done"
The thumbnail and the preview show the adjustments I made
    Now, it works like this:
    Open a .CR2
    Make adjustments
    Click "Done"
The preview and thumbnail don't show all the adjustments. I can't see the results of noise removal, but I can see a drastic change in Exposure
If I double-click the CR2 file, it opens in Camera Raw, and I see all my adjustments, including noise removal.
Here's what I've tried, but saw  no difference (I restarted Bridge every time):
    Purge Cache
    Purge Cache for Selection
Replaced Camera Raw plug-in as described here: Camera Raw 8.4 | No metadata or Camera Raw edit
(Doing so made Camera Raw disappear in Bridge, so I restored the original file)
    Reset Preferences
    Reset Standard Workspaces
All the above fixes were inspired by this thread: Re: Bridge CS6 not showing Camera Raw adjustments
Why don't I see the noise removal effect in the previews? I am sure I saw it a few weeks ago. I rely on that, to help me sort and cull photos.
    I'm hoping there's a preference toggle that I accidentally changed. It's definitely a puzzle. (Version: Bridge CS6 5.0.1.21 5.0.2.4)
Message was edited by: moonatwork after updating Bridge version. I tried all the above fixes again, after updating Bridge. It actually got worse. I tried replacing the Camera Raw plugin, which failed as before. I then restored the previous plugin, as before, but Bridge now fails to honor the preference, "Double-Click Edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge" and instead always opens Photoshop.

Thanks, Omke. I tried updating, then applying all the same fixes to the updated version. No change.
I can attach a screenshot, but I must block out names and faces. All you'll see is my Bridge interface, not the faces in the portraits. Hope that helps.

I am trying to connect my JVC Hard Disk Drive Camcorder to my IPAD 2 via the Apple camera kit. I am able to download photos, but video files not showing. Camera shows Mass Stoarge. How can I download videos please?

The file name only has 6 characters and I'm not sure what the .mod format is. So that's why they are not seen by the iPad.
Another way to transfer. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Instead GarageBand recognize my keyboard and i can play normally, also, if it can help, those are the Audio and Midi Logic Preferences and the Controller Surfaces Setup with the keyboard connected :

  • Smart collection has "source color profile" as filter option, does not work on camera profiles

In Lightroom 5 i tried to use the "source color profile" filter option in smart collection, however it only seems to work on rgb files (jpg, tiff) that have a profile embedded. It does not work on values like "Adobe Standard" which is a "source" profile of a RAW file, or any of the camera profiles i can choose fo given Raw file. What am i doing wrong?
The Help does not give any clue on this, nor does the coverage by any of the Lightroom guru's like Juleanne Kost.

In my opinion the filter is acting correctly.
The Adobe Standard profile is not a profile defined in the source file, it is a profile assigned to the file in the raw converter and used with raw files that do not have a source color profile, already, so to me the filter is acting correctly because “source” means where the profile comes from, rather than what profile a master photo has had assigned to it.
The source-color-profile option is useful to determine the size of the color gamut in a file’s color numbers which indicates its suitability for various purposes:  An sRGB file can be safely uploaded to the web, an AdobeRGB file is going to look right on a wide-gamut monitor and printablebut shouldn’t be uploaded to the web, while a ProPhotoRGB file has a large color space and can be safely edited in a way that adjusts the colors significantly, especially if it is 16-bit, without color-banding or posterization, but a ProPhotoRGB file will probably not look good if directly uploaded to the web or sent to a print-shop that doesn’t do their own color profile conversions.
I would agree that being able to filter raw files based on the assigned color profile would also be useful, but this is a different thing, to me at least, than filtering by the source-color-profile.

  • IPhone 3G not show as Camera in windows explorer, but iTunes works?!

Every time I connect my iPhone, I get the New Found Hardware wizard which always fails to setup my device properly. The device does not show up in My Computer as a camera like it is supposed to. However, iTunes opens and syncs just fine with it. When I go to my windows hardware device manager it shows up "iPhone" but with the yellow exclamation point indicating a problem.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and updating my chipset drivers (Nvidia nforce2). I have also tried uninstalling the iPhone device from the Hardware Device Manager window, then plugging the phone back in.
    Nothing seems to work.
    Any Ideas?

When you have pictures stored on you iPhone you'll get this message upon plugging it in to your computer. Windows is trying to access it like it would any other digital camera. Just ignore it and use iTunes.

Make an appointment at the genius bar are your nearest Apple store. At this point there is nothing you can do without a computer, so if you don't have one and don't know anyone who has one that you can use the Apple store is a good fallback.

  • Why not have a camera profile

Recently, I am in possession of a Panasonic Lumix DCM-TZ60. If I had my RAW images, s read-in Lightroom 5.7, I see the camera calibration no camera profiles for this camera. According to the Adobe site it should be well known to lightroom vs 5.7. Should I install another plugin?

@remcor, in addition to what has been said in earlier posts and so that it is abundantly clear. Adobe creates a profile for processing raw files from each and every camera model that it supports, the name given to that profile is "Adobe Standard".
So when you are working with a raw file from a particular camera model the profile you see in the camera calibration panel and you see Adobe Standard that is the profile that is specific to your camera model.
If there are other profiles like "Camera portrait", "Camera faithful", etc these are additional profiles created by Adobe to try and match the look of jpegs produced by your camera when specific settings are chosen in camera.
For a long time only popular Nikon and Canon models were granted this special attention to have these additional profiles but support for other camera models have been included in recent times. However this usually only happens when initial support is introduced, so its unlikely that previously supported models will get any additional profiles.

    Hi Tommy,
you could try reseting your PRAM to see if that makes any difference, as this holds your systems parameters. You shouldn't hurt your Mac by resetting them.
To reset PRAM hold down AppleAlt+PR on startup until it chimes 3 to 5 times then release.
    Also...
Let the Mac boot after a PRAM reset then restart to reset your Open Firmware which may also help. At Startup hold AppleAlt+OF then type at the light grey screen (all without speech marks) "reset-nvram" then press return key. Then type "rest-all" then press return key again. Then type "mac-boot" press return to exit.
These command may help you they may not, but they shouldn't hinder you in any way. But if you are in any doubt about these commands by all means research them further on the Apple website or just ask for a second opinion.
    Regards.

  • Database tables not showing in database profile although connection is established successfully

I am using jdbc driver jtds 1.2.6 to connect to sybase db via powerbuilder. The connection is established successfully, still,it just shows the profile as connected but loads no table or contents of databse in that coonnection.
Do I have to run any stored procedure in sybase db for this?
    Any clue?Please help.

Yes, you do need to run a stored procedure. It's described in the PowerBuilder documentation.
As Chris said you'd be far better off using the native interface driver. I've never heard of it being separated out anywhere, so if your installation software for ASE does not include OpenClient, then I doubt that it's a genuine copy of the software.

  • RAM not showing up in Profiler

I recently bought a Crucial 512MB PC32000 DDR400 (part no. CT6464Z40B) to be paired with another RAM module from another vendor to put into my Dual 1.8Ghz G5. These two sticks appear to be identical in my daughter's iMac. Profiler says: 512MB PC3200U-30330. When I put this pair in my Power Mac dual 1.8 G5 (4-slot) they are not recognized. I know the non-Crucial RAM is okay because I can pair it some other 512MB SDRAM I have. How can iMac say the pair are identical and yet the Power Mac rejects the RAM?

    Hi Mark Lederer-
My guess is that for whatever reason the iMac is not as "picky" about the RAM.
Each subsequent release of OSX has also caused the same phenomenon. Are both machines running the same level of system software?
