4S update from 7.1.2 to 8.1.2, says Software update failed
The device is confirmed it is a 4s, but we never upgraded to IOS 8 yet. I continue to get the Software Updated failed and the close and settings box comes up. Whichever you click on it goes back to the update screen. I am on very fast Wifi and the device is plugged in. Two days ago it said there was not enough space, so we deleted videos and now there is 5.7 GB available. I tried to update through ITunes, but the internet is too slow at home and it says 20 hours to update. We tried that twice and after 15 hours the "software update failed" notification comes up. Any ideas? I also turned off the phone and turned it back on.
I would reset the phone - no data loss involved - and try again

Java has updated again today,
i use a java plug in to run my virtual software to access my work from home,
today i have an error message saying that security will not allow access to my website
i use to log in to work from, this is a JREdetection error,
my system runs off java and citrix, i tried chrome,firefox and safari - same issue, if my system cannot detect java it wont run, it runs on plug ins.

I bought a new iMac 27" yesterday, running with Mavericks OS. Attempting to download Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design Premium. Loaded software from discs. When I check for updates they fail to install. A window comes up saying "Some updates failed to install." Then under each applications it says "There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later." Have done this several times. Suggestions?

I have just updated my iphone 4s with ios7. Since then i cannot play movies from my netflix app using my av cable to tv. which i baught from an apple store. i get a message saying turn off mirroring on airplay. i dont have airplay or an apple TV. what can i do?

hope this message finds you all in time. The recent Apple TV update 5.1 is terrible. Apple knows it is which is why (thankfully for some relentless user -I have no idea who but I believe it was under threat) they have allowed to sign 5.0.2 again which means you can downgrade your Apple TV 2 and 3 to a 5.0.2 version via iTunes. Who knows how long they will keep the window open but I have downgraded my ATV early this morning. I couldn't post this earlier because I was out all day but I am doing it now.
Here's how to do it:
1) Connect your ATV to your computer via a Mini USB (not included with ATV but included with many other electronic devices) - in order for your ATV to appear in iTunes you must FIRST plug the USB cable to your computer and ATV and only THEN plug the power cable.
2) Download your ipsw restore file from Apple.
5.0.2 (ATV 2): AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
5.0.2 (ATV 3): AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
3) In iTunes select yout ATV, hold SHIFT and click on Restore
4) Find and choose the downloaded IPSW file in the Open Dialog Box and hit Next
5) As long as Apple still signs that version the Restore process will begin and will take a few minutes to complete.

I have Creative Suite 5, if I upgrade my mac from 10.6.8 os X to the latest software (I think there is an auto update to snowleopard) will this effect my adobe software?
Or what is involved if I pay for an upgrade?Deactivate the software and then reinstall it after the OSX update.

Downloaded the update for Adobe Reader Xl from 10. Now the Reader will not open a PDF, if says " Fatal error - Failed to connet to DDE Serer. Can anyone provide a solution.
I cannot find a DDE file on my windows 7 computer.Uninstall Reader. Use Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs to remove all traces of Reader. Download a new copy from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise

Update failed something is preventing firefox from updating securely how do I fix this ?
Please can someone help me I have been getting from time to time an update box pop up that reads "Update Failed Something is preventing Firefox from updating securely. Please make sure that you have the latest version of Firefox from http://www.firefox.com", however my Firefox is up to date (I think). I have uninstalled then reinstalled but I'm still getting this error. I have been having this issue on and off for a couple of months and although I have posted before about this I'm still without a solution. I have looked into my programs folder as it tells me to in the help information to look for the active-update.xml, updates.xml and the updates folder and it's contents so I can delete them but I can't seem to find them. I'm definately not a computer whizz so any help anyone wants to offer needs to be in step by step form. Thanks

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will lose all personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

When I try to update my mac from 10.5.8 to 10.9 it says no updates available
Whn I try to update my mac from 10.8.5 to 10.9 it says no updates are available at this time, yet I have not updated.
OS X 10.8.5 is the latest version of Mountain Lion - there are no further updates to that OS at this time.
But you can upgrade (assuming your Mac meets the specs) to the newly released later version of OS X - 10.9 Mavericks via the Mac App Store (available from the Apple menu).
(Can you confirm what OS you are currently running - the headline to your thread says 10.5.8, which is Leopard, your profile says 10.7.3, which is Lion and your message mentions 10.8.5, which is Mountain Lion ). -
When Access Protection is enabled under the category "Common Standard Protection", Rule: Prevent common programs from running files from the Temp Directory is enabled. the updates fail.
This rule provides some protection against possible malware execution. However when this rule is enabled FireFox updates fail. We have set exclusions for "updater.exe" but the problem seems to be when FF restarts and the update fails. Is there anyway of finding out what is happening at that point?? as in what FF is doing? The old FF closes and it seems to spawn a fresh "firefox.exe". But the OLD version is still current.
I would like to know if this update process can be identified and with the possibility of excluding what is being blocked so keep the extra security that this rule gives.
When the rule is disabled, FF updates without issue.That's a comment in the file. It has no effect at all.

I just downloaded the new itunes update, now I can't copying TV shows purchased from the library to my backup computer, it says the files are invisible. Never had any problem doing it until the update. I have a Mac Pro G5 OS 10.6.8. The desktop hidden files app doesn't reveal the TV shows.

was asked to update itunes last week and since then itunes won't open, un-installed it and followed the necessary steps then tryed to install it from scratch but still no luck. It says it has been successfully installed, but no sign of it on my computer.

The iOS 7.0.6 update failed, my iPhone 5S disappeared from iTunes and now is displaying a picture iTunes logo and a USB plug and black backgraound. Turning it Off and On didn't fix it. iTunes doesn't see it. Any suggestions?

I've tried http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 and other suggestions first, which turned out unrelated.
I've finally fixed the issue by plugging the cable in the USB 3 ports in the back of PC instead of the ports in the front, the iTunes saw the phohe and the recovery started automatically.
In the hindsight, I realized that the either the required prerequisite iTunes 11.1.5.5 update installed a USB driver incompatible with my PC's front side USB ports that I always used for my iPhone syncing prior or it was always
incompatible, but worked in all modes except the recovery.
