5800XM GSM Problem

I have a problem with my 5800XM. After firmware upgrade to v50 GSM coverage has become bad.

I totally agree. Nokia really sucks about customer service. I can see why they're losing market share. I've had the 5800 for about 2 months. The ear piece worked fine for awhile but then it started to malfunction. If you're considering buying a 5800, do your research. Just google and you'll find lots of discussions about this. If your earpiece goes, the phone is useless. You cna't hear a thing. This phone is buggy and manufacturing quality is poor. I put up with the buggy firmware but this is too much. If you think that the Singapore phones will be immune from this because they couldn't possibly launch the phone with problems, guess again. They just released the phone in the US and it has the same exact problem. I took my phone to the service center and they wouldn't fix it under warranty because it wasn't bought in Singapore. The phones should be recalled! Now they won't fix it because it wasn't bought in this country?!?! Good job Nokia. Keep up the god work and enjoy losing the top spot to Apple or Samsung. Best part is, I bought my phone directly from the Nokia Flagship Store in the US and have the receipt to prove that I didn't just buy some export set. I just happened to move to Singapore. Imagine that Nokia. Someone buys a phone in one country, then moves to another country. Amazingly, the phone moves with the person to the new country. Fix my damn phone!

5800XM speaker problem

Hi there !!!!
since I got the new 5800XM I am reading this forum very interesting and usefull some time BUT I never seen (as far as I can remember) complain agains the 5800 speaker that during tel. conversation become low in volume, noisy and so on !!!!!!!!
Are you guys using the cell only to take pics and connect to internet ?? never got normal tel. call receiving and placing ???
Anyhow I am facing that problem now and reading other forums I discovered that NOKIA confirm to have problem on speaker for 5800XM and need to be changed it on devices up to the end of February means all 5800 sold before that date !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you have tel call more than 20min x day you will face problem soon.
Mi personal opinion is that IF NOKIA is a good enterprise should RECALL al the 5800 for changing the speaker not keep silent !!! but if they were a good enterprise they should care before place on market this KIND of tel.

Nokia 5800XM internet problem.

Hey guys,
Iv had my phone for about 9-10months now and havent had any problems with it. Recently my landline provider has changed to bt. But when first tried to access the internet through my phone it asked for a WPA key i entered it but it was incorrect and now i cant seem to put the correct one in. It says its trying to connect then it pops up with "Invaild WPA key" and then it closes the browser down. So really i need to find a way to reset the WPA key so i can enter the correct one.

Nokia 5800XM general problems, corruption?

I've been very pleased with my Nokia 5800 though today I ran into a very weird problem.
In the main screen you have the keypad and the contact list buttons, suddenly neither wouldn't work at all. You can push them but nothing just happened. I didin't change anything in the phone before the problem and it just suddenly started doing that.
Rebooting and removing battery for a while did nothing, resetting default settings fixed it for a minute or two. I did a hard reset to the phone and then uploaded my backups to the phone again now it's working though It's very unstable, if I try to browse websites they wont load (indicator stays at 0kb all the time) I'm currently reflashing the firmware again to get a clean everything to defaults.
I hope Nokia will still continue to support this product and upgrade the firmware because there seems to still be much quirks and freezes in the gui.
And does anyone else have problems syncing the music library with any other program than nokia music? If I try to sync with winamp (tags are ok, bought tracks from webstore) some of the songs sync okay and they show in the right album but some of the songs from the same album are "unknown" and the ID3 tags are okay it just does that at random! Seems like there is a bug in the way 5800 handles tags? Should be fixed asap if that is the case, due being music phone mainly. Manually copying and updating library seems to work too.
Same tracks sync nicely with nokia music (though the gui is really slow and it cant convert FLAC) windows mediaplayer seems to do fine too.

Well I have this phone for over 2 years now and now I have a big problem with it that won't go away. The screen goes completely into stripes and is unreadable. It just showed up like that and it's always when I use the screen-lock button (slide button on the side) that this happens and then stays. Once I got rid of it by rebooting the phone almost 10 times or turning it of a whole day but as soon as I use the screen-lock button (slide button on the side) it comes back.

Although you would have to backup essential data first, you would first need to exclude any possible software related issues by either carrying out a "hard reset" and/or re-installing existing device soiftware via Nokia Suite.

Nokia 5800XM Iplayer problem

I updated my phone from v20 to 21, iplayer was working fine before the update, but now whenever i click on a program real player says "unable to play media clip"?
is there a fix for this? becasue i cant find anthing about it on the interweb (atleast not for the 5800)

NOKIA 5800XM AUTOLOCK PROBLEM

Hi , I have enabled the autolock feature on my 5800. When my phone is lying idle for sometime and during that period if I recieve an sms , and after that to view it, if I try to unlock my phone by pushing the slide unlock key, my Touchscreen does not respond. If I try to press the numeric keypad to enter the unlock code, there is no response on the touchscreen. To be able to use my phone again, I have to remove the battery and restart my phone again. This has been hapenning since the past few days and I have no idea why it is occuring. Please help me out.

so, i had my nokia 5800 for a long time, and today i updated my software. it was 40.0, and now its 52.007 when i did it, wifi totaly disapeared... when i turn on setings->conectivity-> theres no W-LAN! i dont know what to do, i tried rewriting updates, turning off and on my device, but that dont work

Nokia 5800XM problems, help pls

hi, my nokia 5800XM got problems like, i can't view the pictures and video clips in the "images and videos" page, and it's same even i updated FW to v50, beside that, right after i updated the FW to v50, all my songs was unable to display on the songs list, but they do exist in the memory card...
anyone help pls~

try removing the battery and sim card for approx 5-10 minutes. reinsert sim and battery power it on, if that does not work you will have to take it to nokia care i am afraid. there is nothing else one can try.

Problem with backuping 5800XM

I have a big problem. I can't backup my 5800 neither with PC Suite or OVI Suite or built in backup uttility in my phone's fille manager. It runs allmost till the and nothing hapens. PC software just keep going (doing nothing), with phone build in future when it comes at ent phone freeze a nd only removing baterry helps. Problem firs accures on v40 but now I have v51 and problem is still present. Any ideas. Please
I forgot to say I'm running latest PC Suite and OVI suite on my XP Professional SP3.
In PC Suite when I unmark specifict phone files backup runs fine.
Nokia 5800 v52 Hacked

Early versions of the 5800XM (those manufactured before about February 2009) were assembled with earpieces of which the contacts corroded after a while. The more use the phone got, the quicker the contacts corroded. Your phone could well have this problem. Next time this happens, tap the top of the phone and see if the sound comes back.
In any event, this is most likely a hardware problem and your phone should be taken to a Nokia Care Point for repairs.
Don't forget to take your invoice for the phone if it's still in the warranty period.

HI all .. i have this problem with my 5800xm that i cant update it from nokia updater or from the phone .. my product code is 0549361 .. ana when i ask i get this answer Sorry, there is no software currently available for that product code via the Nokia Software Update tool.
so what is the problem ?? thanka fo any answer i get to help .

i got reception problem in my 4g both gsm and wifi ? in form of very poor signal why*?? it was working fine suddenly the signal became bad and when i make phone call the other person on the seceond side doent hear me but when i use face time it is working , and the wifi signal is the same there is no or poor signal , signal improve only when i get closer to the modem that provides wifi at home or any wifi hot spot
is it antenna problem ? or what???

If you carefully follow all of the instructions in this tip and none of them restore WiFi then your radio chip has failed and you need to get the phone replaced by Apple.

"Your phone is now in GSM mode" problem

Hello,
I switched off my Lumia 720, Removed the sim and reinserted it. While its switched On. It showed the message "Your phone is now in GSM mode". After that its only in GSM mode although the highest connection speed is in 3G. No problem from sim network. Any idea?

Don't worry about it its just a connection mode what your carrier uses.
If you reset the phone you shouldn't see it again
