5G iPod stopped taking ripped videos...help!!

I have a 5G 60G iPod and have been using Handbrake to convert DVDs. So far, I have successfully converted a couple of movies and TV shows with no problems. I was using handbrake settings I got from one of the discussions here...then all of a sudden the videos stopped transferring to my iPod. Most recently I have been attempting to convert episodes of ALIAS from DVD to H.264...I have played around with different settings and nothing seems to work. It is extremely frustating to spend hours converting a video only the to keep getting the dreaded...."some your videos were not transferred..." error message.
Here are my most recent Handbrake settings...any advice??
Framrate: 29.97
Encoder x264
Target size: 700MB
Average bitrate: 500
File Format: MP4 File
Codecs: H.264
Audio Sample Rate: 44100
Audio Bitrate: 128 kpbs
Pictue Settings:
Size 320x208 (keep aspect ratio)
Crop: automatic

There's a field for it on the Handbrake screen. It should be a dropdown menu where you can choose between H.264 Main Profile, and H.264 Baseline Profile.
I'm assuming you're using Handbrake version 0.7.0, which is the latest version. Any version earlier than 0.7.0 does not support Baseline.

I recently bought my first iPod and have downloaded lots of music and photos. I recently bought the Xilisoft platinum converting programme and converted a couple of films to MPEG 4 and then on to the ipod. Now after sometimes as little as 30 seconds the picture freezes then after 5 seconds, the film continues without sound. I have tried this on all my videos on my ipod and they are all the same. You and a million other people. The problem is with firmware 1.1. To solve the problem you need to downgrade to firmware 1.0. You can look through the discussions where it's been covered ad nauseam.
What I did to downgrade mine:
Here's what needs to be done for downgrading to firmware 1.0 without losing any data on your iPod:
-Connect your iPod to your computer, ensure it's updated via iTunes, then disconnect it from the PC and exit iTunes
-If you don’t have the original firmware 1.0, download iPodSetup 2005-11-17 here:

- Then download iPodWizard here:

(download the “Release”, the top link of the two)
- Uninstall iPod for Windows 2006-1-10 if it was previously installed on your PC and reboot.
- Install iPodSetup 2005-11-17
-Connect your iPod to the PC, make sure iTunes is not running
-Launch iPodWizard.
-In the top left, click "Open Updater"
-Locate the iPod Updater.exe located in a sub-folder where you just installed iPodSetup 2005-11-17
-In the "Firmware:" drop down menu, select "5th Generation iPod (v.13.6.0)"
-Click "Load" just to the right of the drop down menu
-In the iPodWizard Essentials box on the right, it should say "Found 1 iPod drives:"
-Click "Downgrade Firmware". I'ts very quick.
-Click “Downgrade Firmware” once more. It needs to be done twice.
-Close the iPodWizard
-Again, make sure iTunes is not running
-From your Start menu, run iPod Updater 2005-11-17 and click "Update", not "Restore"
-Once the update is completed (it takes a few minutes), exit the iPod Updater and run it again to view the new firmware number. It should read:
"Software Version: 1.0 (up to date)"
-Launch iTunes. A pop up window will ask you if you want to download the new software version 1.1. Tick the box "Do not ask me again" and click "CANCEL"

Please Help! iPod won't play videos anymore!

I've had my 5th generation iPod for a year now and for the last 3 months I have not been able to get my videos to play. I have DVD's that I've burned as well as movies that I've downloaded. At first, only one or two wouldn't play and now I am down to only 1, out of about 20 videos that will still work.
When I try to play a video I get a black screen. I can adjust the volume and see that the video is there, but the elapsed time just stays frozen at 00:00. The only way to recover the iPod after this is to reset it by holding down the menu and select buttons. I've checked that the TV out is off and tried everything else that I can figure out to try. I have even restored the iPod and reloaded all of the content. Still, only that one video will play and all the others lock up the iPod. I've tried re-downloading the videos and ripping the DVD's again. I also tried adding new videos. The iPod syncs and the videos upload fine but when I try to play them… no luck.
Anyone else have this same problem? It's driving me crazy. Ready to go buy a Zune.

Only i could say, that i have the same problem with my 30Gb iPod during the last two or three months. Just after syncing my iPod i was not able to see any video. In the beginning one restart of the device was helpful and video started playing as usual. Now does not help anything: either multiple restarts of the iPod, or restoring all settings via iTunes.
Since i have encountered this problem, i have not found any answer.

HELLO! I have an Ipod Touch thats 32 gb, and its the really old one without the camera. ( im sorry i dont know which generation it is, but i bought it in 2010. ) Anyways, I've had this Ipod for almost 3 years now, and it still works pretty good. The thing im really worried about is that recently, my Ipod has started to overheat, meaning when i touch it, its almost burning. This happens when I charge it, or when I play games on it while charging the Ipod. When i remove the charger, it stops burning/overheating and goes back to normal. Why does this keep happening? Also, what can I do to stop it? please help!!!

J.K. ROFLing is correct. It is normal for the iPod to get quire warm when charging and during heavy use.. If concerned make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

IPod Video help please....

I'm trying to put videos onto my iPod video i just purchased, and am having alot of difficulty. Alot of my friends have iPod videos also and are trying to help, but no luck.
First off, when i open iTunes with the iPod connected everything works fine, i can open all music and videos and play them on iTunes just fine, i convert them to iPod and all is well while on computer. When i disconnect and try to watch the videos then all i get is the audio and a picture of what the video is. I place videos on the iPod manually by dropping them onto the iPod. When i try to adjust the iPod options menu, the VIDEOS tab is all greyed out (meaning nothing can be changed or selected). It almost seems like its not an iPod photo, any suggestions ??? I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and updating the iPod over and over, but no success...

In your ipod, go to videos, video settings, then make sure that "tv out" says off.

Your model MB528LL ipod is a 2G and can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1. many apps now require 4.3 or later.

You can only use apps that are compatible with your dvice and ios version.
The secons gen ipod touch can only go to 4.2.1.
If you are running 4.2.1 then you can only use apps that require 4.2.1 or lower.

ok now are the videos that are not updating to the ipod the same videos that used to update to it? Or is it new content you have imported to itunes since you last updated the ipod with videos? Also, are these videos itunes purchased or user created content?

Now once you have made sure that your videos are in the correct format and have been converted to play on the ipod, make sure that your ipod preferences are set to automatically update the videos. Or you can try manual mode and drag and drop em onto the ipod.
