6120, memory card...where are my texts?

Hi,
I have a nokia 6120 with a memory card i added myself. I have it set so that my text messages are saved there and when i look at the device it says that it has 1471kb of messages stored on it.
I recently got a macbook with bluetooth and am trying to back up my messages onto the computer....but i can't find where the messages are! I can find the images, but when i look through there are no messages.
Is it because the format isn't recognised by the computer or something?
I'd just like to back them up, I think you can do it in the pc nokia suite...no?
any help very appreciated!
cheers
x

Text messages are not stored straight into text files. They must have been stored on the memory card in some other format, most probably binary format, which isn't readable.
To make a backup of your messages, you should use Nokia PC Suite. Below is a list of contents that can be back(ed) up.
- User files from the phone memory
- User files from a memory card
- Contacts
- Calendar
- Notes
- Messages
- Settings
- Bookmarks
It saves the backup file in Nokia BackUp format .nbu, which isn't readable either in any text viewer. But at least you can restore all of the said contents back to your phone whenever you need.

  • Is there a program I can use to retrieve corrupted .MOV files, from a HD memory card where some files will open, and others wont?

    Hi,
    I have a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory.
I have recently shot some still and moving footage on my Cannon EOS 500 D (digital camera) using an AMICOE SD C10 8 GB high speed memory card.
After uploading these photos and movies onto my Mac, I am only able to open about 2/3 of the files that appear on the screen.  In the case of the movie files, I can see a number of the file icons, however about 1/3 of them will not open (I get a message saying that Quicktime does not recognise this file - yet it is a .MOV file. Interestingly I can see a small thumbnail for each of these files that will not open, however I am unable to expand the thumbnail into the larger size) and there are a number of photos that simply do not appear as a file or thumbnail.
Is there a program I can use to retrieve these corrupted .MOV and JPEG files from either my computer or the memory card?
Thank you for your interest in this question.
    Cheers,
    Shaughno.

....to add to the last part... When adding to the iTunes library,- I need iTunes to make a quick-scan to verify that media I am adding isn't already in there,- preventing duplicates that make remedial tasks of removing* duplicates so annoying and unproductive...

  • Deleting from memory card Q are not errased.  Have I missed a sertting some

I get the same dialogue boxes at the end of import in 2.0, but when I click on erase images on card, they are not erased. Have I missed a setting somewhere?
    Mark

It is much preferable to always reformat cards in-camera. There are multiple reasons for this, the most obvious being that each camera's individual firmware is best for getting a card set up for the next round of pix on that camera.
Another reason is that such a workflow means ejecting the card prior to reformatting, which means you can also check the images on the computer prior to erasing the images on the card, with 100% certainty that the images reviewed on the computer are not mistakenly being reviewed directly from the card.
Personally I also think it best to backup the images newly copied to the computer after ejecting but prior to erasing/reformatting the CF card. That way 2 copies of original pix exist prior to any editing or erasure of CF media.

  • FB2 memory Errors: where are -vmargs -Xmx and .log?

I have a workspace that I use to create small example apps. I
currently have about 50 apps in one project
Often, whan I close that project i get a memory error dialog
instructing me to use the command line to modify the-vmargs and
-Xmx settings an to look in .log for details.
This is surely Java stuff. Where can I modify these values?
    Tracy

you pass the vmargs to eclipse, whereever your link to
eclipse.exe is you have to modify the target so that it looks
    something like this:
    D:\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vmargs -Xmx512m -Xms128m
    hope that helps

  • Where are my texts and pictures

I just switched from verizon to tmobile. i backed up my vzw phone and when i restored it onto the tmobile phone 90 percent of pictures and all my texts were gone. ive waited a few hours on wifi and plugged in nothing else has loaded. also my apps and things are not on it. the i cloud on my  computer says it was last backed up today, but wont let me access anything but a back up from two years ago.... help?

You can't access an iCloud backup from your computer.  The only backups you can access in iTunes are backups on your computer made with iTuens (which sounds like they are two years old).
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, scroll to the bottom and see if it says Stop Restoring...  If it does, it is still restoring the backup.  If it is, but is not making any progress, you can try turning it off, then back on to see if that will get it going again.  Also, be sure it's connected to wifi and your charger.  (If it isn't connected to an external power source, wifi will automatically turn off to conserve battery power, thereby interrupting the restore process.)
Otherwise, you can tap Stop Restoring, then erase it and try restoring the backup again.  Or, if you still have the other phone, back it up to your computer using iTunes (connect it to your computer, open iTunes, then go to File Devices>Back Up), then restore the iTunes backup to your new phone instead.

  • I downlod a song from firefox but i cannot found from memory card where is the storage

    solution

Does the song appear when you open Firefox's Downloads list? There are two ways to do this:
    * menu > Downloads
    * type or paste '''about:downloads''' in the address bar then tap the go arrow
On my Gingerbread device, downloads are stored in /sdcard/download and can be viewed using ES File Explorer (and, I'm sure, other similar apps).

  • Uploading photos from camera memory card are being duplicated

    Hi,
When loading phoots into iphoto from a memory card we are getting two images of the same photo (same identifier as well) into the iphoto event. I've looked over many previous threads and have unticked the duplicate options in preferences/advanced, but this isn't making any difference. Any further tips?
    Thanks.

provide details if you want help
The general answser is that iPhoto does not in any case duplicate photos during import - one wild guess given that you provide absoluely no information at all would be that you have a new DLSR and have set it to shoot RAW plus JPEG so you are creating two copies of each photo which iPhoto will most certainly import - if that is it the solution is to set the camera correctly to either RAW or JPEG

  • 5800 self remove memory card

Hi, i am facing a problem where memory card (8gb) are self removed randomly. It had to be remove from phone and insert back to be detected again or sometime just simply restart the phone to make it work again. It's quite hard to point out the problem to nokia care because the problem occured is unpredicted. Plz advice.
    firmware v20
    RM 356

try another memory card and see if you experience similar issues. you might have programs that are corrupted and hence make it impossible to use the card correctly, the card itself might be corrupted. you might want to also consider reformating your card. make sure you back up all your data.

  • Where are my photos stored?

When I import pictures in iphoto from my SD memory card where do the pictures get stored?  Another words, what directory do I look under in Finder to find them?  Same thing with movies download from my SD card.

    Standard Warning:
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things,, deleting them or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Memory cards File limitation - IMPORTANT

    Hello all,
This may be old news to many of the techies out there. But just wanted to get this out for other people that may not know this.
Memory cards are formatted into FAT (File Allocation Table), format. This format (also used in PC Hard Drives) has a specific limit on the number of files it may have on a single folder.
The limit is 1000 (one thousand) files.
So if you are trying to move 1000 files into the root folder of a 2 GB memory card chances are it will fail or give and error message.
This limitation is not Nokia's but part of the FAT format. So to avoid problems keep this in mind if you are trying to save a lot of pictures or songs in a single folder, it won't take more than 1000 individual files. Sometimes when you drag and drop all the hidden files will also be moved, so you may not know that you are transfering more than 1000 files. You have to change the options in the Windows to show hidden files and folders so that you know what is actually being transferred.
Of course you can have more than 1000 files, you just have to put them in more than one folder.
This is also true for the N91 and N91 8GB HDD.
    Enjoy!

    People, please read my post.
You can have 10,000+ files on a FAT format card or HDD, but you can't have 1000 (one thousand) in a single folder or the Root folder (i.e. If you just copy all the files to E
Also, I have used N93 with 1 and 2 GB card and it works, albeith it gets a bit slower when there is a lot of data on the card and the card is getting low on memory.
So again, you can have lots and lots of files just not in a single folder in the memory card.
    EDIT: Read my signature.
I've seen video footage of Bill Gates actually saying the 640K comment. Or at least I think I have... anyways, the fact is that up until Windows 98 (or was it 95 OSR2) they still were struggling with this memory limit. So even if he didn't say it, they sure designed the SW architecture to be limited by 640 KB.Message Edited by el_loco on 08-Feb-2007

  • How to unlock memory card

Depending on the memory card you are using, there is a lock switch located at the side or the back that you can use to unlock the memory card. Please refer to the illustration below for more information.

This was a great picture and helpful solution. Thanks so much. so easy yet if you don't know it, very frustrating.

  • Videos missing from iPhoto after prompted to clear from memory card

I just imported a couple of videos from my GoPro camera into iPhoto. After the videos were imported, I created an album. Once the videos finished importing I was prompted on screen to erase the video's from the memory card and that the import was complete. I did erase them. I then imported more pictures and videos from my regular camera into iPhoto and also following the prompt to erase the memory card post import. The pics/video from the regular camera are there, but my GoPro videos are not. I cleared the memory card so I can't re-import them. It seems they have to be on the computer somewhere since it said "Import complete, Erase Memory Card". Are they still on here somewhere or gone forever?

Create a smart album with the criteria
and check there to see if you can find the missing videos.  If not then you'll need a file recovery app like  PhotoRescue to try too recover the files from the memory card.  There are other similar apps that can do the job.  Go to MacUpdate.com and search for photo recovery.  Most have a demo mode to show you if you can recover the file before you have to purchase it.
Never let iPhoto or other import app delete the files form the memory card.  It's best to make sure the download was successful and that all files are viewable/playable before deleting from the menory card.d  When memory cards are involved it's best to let the camera reformat the card than let the app or the Mac do the deleting/reformatting.

  • 6110 transferring map to new memory card

Hi. I've just got a 6110 Navigator with UK map preloaded onto a memory card. I want to put in a bigger card but can't seem to be able to copy the map from the old one onto the new one. I've followed the help file instructions but it say Map Manager shouldhave a "Settings"button that I can't find to select the "copy card" option. Can anyone help?

the phone supports cards of 8 gb and higher. i currently got 8gb installed (make sure you have at least firmware 3.58 installed, 4.22 is better!)
nokia also says the phone supports 8gb, so ignore the post of babdi.
@bin_man: have you got at least firmware 3.58 installed? if so, reformat the microsdhc card, and then try to copy the data again. if you get the i/o error already while formating or later, the memory card is damaged (usually this kind of error occurs with damaged microsdhc cards). however you should still try to copy the data by simply using a different card-reader (do you currently transfer the data over usbcable through the nokia 6110 navigator onto the card?). and dont work on your computer during that time and best would be to disable the virus-scanner too.
@rickofpigs: first of all, also check firmware (3.58 or higher). second: format the microsdhc card, after that, start nokia navigator program once (with the microsdhc card in it, and no other data on the card), the phone will copy a few files onto the memory card that are necessary for the sync. after that you can try the sync, it should work fine.

If you start Music player for the first time, it'll prromot you on chosing Music file on Memory card (if no Music files found on your phone memory). Later on, once you started Music player and want to choose another folder, just select option -> Play Option, then select folder from "Music Source"

  • USB ports and memory card slots not working

My Pavilion a6120n desktop has worked brilliantly ever since I purchased it. As of last week the 2 usb ports in the front and the 2 unused usb ports in the back have stopped working. My printer is plugged into one rear port and my wireless mouse is plugged into a second rear port and these work fine.  I generally use a memory stick for data swapping or the card reader slots (which have also stopped working). I no longer see the memory card icons in the "Computer" window. When installing something new the "New Hardware Found" statement pops up but the driver install always fails. I think it is a software issue but there are no usb drivers to download on the HP/support site that I can find. . . so . . . Below is what I have tried so far.Run antivirus software. Full scan & memory scan - no issuesRun malewarebytes full scan - no issues I have tried restarting several times with no success. Restore to several previous restore points = failedRestarting computer in repair mode = failedRun the repair disk that I had made = failedChecked the power management for each usb port to see if the power was routed properly = okRemoved the case cover and carefully inspected the wiring and connectors.finally I tried uninstalling the usb drivers = failed  Upon restarting the computer the last time the startup file must have failed and after several hours of attempting a repair I had to reinstall the Window 7 completely. Still no usb or memory card function. Any help would be appreciated Thanks,MrBob38
