What, as in a mp3 player, playing it through the headphones or the speaker on the phone ?. You can download mp3 files that you have either downloaded or encoded off your cds onto the phone and these will play using the music player on the phone. You will need either a usb dongle or a dku-2 cable to trasfer the files. You can put the music on the phone using the Nokia software that came with your phone on the cd or download it off this site.

pleas please please can anyone help me ? I have just bought a 6230i mobile phone and its driving me round the bend ! I am desperatly trying to download tracks from windows media player 11 to my phone,it downloads ok but when I go to play the songs it says file type not supported ? in my player it states that the file types are wma and i need to convert them to mp3 before they are sent to my phone,please can any kind person help me with this ? I have spent hours on the internet and have got absaloutly no where

1) Go to www.nokia.com/pcsuite and download to desktop Nokia PC Suite 6.80
2) Install the Pc Suite from desktop by double click the exe file. Follow instructions on how to get connected.
3) Open PC Suite Transfer Music. Open File option - Scan Music - Locate Folder where you have the WMA Music.
4) WMA music is now in "all music" view. Highlight the file you want to move to phone and drag it to my collection and it will convert the music to suitable format.
This was one simple way, you learn more once you try this first. Let us know did you succeed. Read Nokia Music Manager help also.

6230i HELP unable to connect to PC

Hope this is posted in the right support group?
Running XP Pro SP2,
I can no longer connect my 6230i to pc suite No matter what suite I try and install, keep getting error that, there is no available connection type and therefore the connection to phone cannot be established.
Can anyone help to get this sorted out? I have tried PC suites from 6.84.10.3 then 7.0.7.0 then my last hope 7.1.18.0 not one of them can get me connected to my PC. Have uninstalled them using nokia pc suite cleaner, cleaned registry for any leftovers, but no luck with any new installation.
It seems that I am not the only one to have this problem by the list of entries about this but have not come across any solution so far. Thought I would try and get someone to help solve this, before I sell the phone and get one that will work with this PC.

Hi.. A few people have had this problem.. I have found the following to be the best solution for this
Remove the PC suite and Nokia Software Updater form your PC and run Nokia's PC Suite cleaner

Then reinstall the latest version of the PCS & NSU applications and this should remove the issue

i Have a 6230i i have connected it to my pc but i need a MMC to explore the fetures i havnt got a MMc is there any other way i can connect whtih my computer p.s ashamed but truth is i dont now what sync is so can u say full information plz thx alot

you dont need an mmc in order to connect your phone to your pc.
sync is transferring the contacts from the phones memory (not the sim) to the pc and vice versa.
the mmc is only needed if you would like to store large files like MP3 on the phone etc.

6230i help asap

i have a 6230i i use windows xp and i connect to the computer via usb cable.
my problem is that i plug in the cable and pc suite reads it fine execpt i click on file manager and nothings in the folders (none of my things music photos etc)same with audio and photo manager.
i take out the phone and try plugging it in again and it comes up with "usb not recognized" any ideas?

Do you see the two black plastic tabs that hold it in place? If so, pry inward gently and lift upward.

Nokia 610 Car Kit & 6230i - HELP!

I've just had a used 610 installed in my car. Although I've been able to pair the 6230i handset to the 610, I don't seem to be able to get the menu up on the 610 or assign the SIM from the handset to the active user profile of the 610.
Can anyone advise please?

Thanks Sage...now I seem to be making progress...however -
- Rotate wheel until you see 'User 1: Assign SIM card'
- Push wheel - OK
- Rotate wheel until you see 'Device: Search for Bluetooth devs.'-OK
- Push wheel -OK
- 610 will search for BT devices -OK
- Rotate wheel to select your phone -OK
- Push wheel - OK
- THEN...System goes into 'searching' mode and stays like like that for ever. I've deleted old pairing attempt from my handset...do I need to do same for 610 maybe?

Nokia 6230i help needed

Hi i have a nokia 6230i and every so often it keeps ringing my chosen ringtone then after about 1 or 2 rings it changes itself to the default nokia tune has anyone got any soluitons without me loosing any data or downloads???

Check the the ringtone you selected it working normally when you play it back. Perhaps it is a corrupted MP3 ?

Hi,
my 6230i keeps requesting that I "check info service". I havent got a clue why it does this or how to stop it, however, It does eat away at the battery power and as such I have to recharge every day. How do I stop it?

Have you got Messages > select > Info messages > Select >Info service turned on? Sometimes you see this when the phone loses the network and finds it again a while later.

HELP: iMac does not even see my brand new Nokia 6230i

Help, I have a brand new 6230i and a DKU-2 datakable. Now with the new isync and the lates update on Mac 0S X 10.4.6. What can be the proooooblem?
When I connect my phone knows is it connected to a computer, but iSync cannot see the phone. What am I doing wrong. This is driving me nuts.
I want to back-up contact info and downoad my adresbook to the nokia/
Help appreciated.

Oh, you have an other problem. Note that 6230 and 6230i are 2 totally different phones
Your problem is that it seems that support for older revisions of 6230 are disabled by Apple. I think this should be because of phone bugs. You have two choices here:
1) upgrade your phone software as advised by iSync
2) go look in an other thread how to bypass Apple decision (with the risk that it won't work...):

Can anyone help me please? I have a nokia 6230i on Orange network but it has been unlocked to any other network. Everytime I switch the phone on I get an error message saying "check connection settings" Can anyone tell me what this means and how I can get rid of it or what I need to do to get rid of it?

this means that the phone is trying to connect to something on the internet, maybe an email account or something?

Nokia 6230i Bluetooth problem connecting HELP!!!

Hi, I have spent the best part of the day trying to establish whether my new nokia 6230i mobile phone that I received for xmas is faulty or is it something I am doing wrong. I just cannot seem to connect to my computer via the Bluetooth or infrared. I have been reading other peoples problems with the same thing on various websites and I thought rather than try and struggle anymore somebody here may be able to help!!! I downloaded to PC suite that came with the phone, and even downloaded a higher version (apparantly a newer one).But my phone just wont connect. I then managed to download - 1.6.1 from http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/download/dld/spt_dld_detail.php?UID=607&kind=8
which seems to be working fine but as soon as i tried to connect it just will not find my connection on my phone. Do i need to buy any other accessories before I can connect?? I might also add that we also tried on my partners laptop and nothing is happening at all.Am i doing something wrong. somebody please tell me if I need to buy extra USB ports before using this feature. Although being Bluetooth I thought this was wireless?? Also any recommendations on how to use the infrared would be great to. Sorry to drag this on - i am not new to phones as i have had many but this has got me stumped. Thanks in advance for any help. Dawnie33

If your Bluetooth solution is Bluesoleil, I would firstly update your Nokia PC Suite to latest version, 6.70.22 from www.nokia.com/pcsuite ( I don't recall by heart what was the level of BlueSoleil support in PC Suite 6.5, but it can be that your problem is partly related to BlueSoleil not being officially supported with that old version of PC Suite (6.5).
Then the next thing is to look around for intructions how you make sure that if you have Windows Xp SP 2 (which has microsoft own Bluetooth sw solution that easily "fights" with any other Bluetooth sw), how you make the Bluesoleil work in your PC flawlessly.
Google is good help for that, search for links like: "BlueSoleil sw problem in XP SP2" or similar and look for instruction how you make sure you only have BlueSoleil sw in active use.

Hi Can anyone help my 6230i has the symbol showing that the handsfree is connected to the phone only it isn't. I've never even used it!!. This means i don't hear the phone ring and i have to put is on speaker to talk to someone. How do i sort this one out!!!

I think the pop-port is jammed.
Try to clean the pop-port slot.

6230i screen broken, help to get Bluetooth on!!

My Nokia 6230i screen went blank, so I need some information how to get my Bluetooth on to syncronise my address book.
I only need the number combinations to get the Bluetooth on, everything else is set, because I synchronise pretty often.
So, I know that the Settings is 4 and the Connections is 7, but after that I do not remember where to go next.
Please help.

Help downloading real tunes etc 0n 6230i t-mobile ...

Hello everyone,
I have just got a nokia 6230i on t-mobile. I can download all the real tones pictures etc from there t-zones page, But cannot get any from independent sites. I send a text message to the site as requested but get no link in a text message back. Yet I can send ordinary text messages to other people and get replys.
I just don't understand it can anyone help.

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

6230i WEB help

Hi I just purchased a 6230i. Before this phone, I had a N70. The N70's web was perfect. every site i tried worked. Even the applications I downloaded like Opera Browser, Gmail, and Google maps worked fine. However, when i tried to use these applications on my 6230i, it says that i need a connection in order to work. I had all the Connection Settings sent to my phone. The Nokia Web Browser can only handle Nokia.com sites and my applications can't seem to connect to the internet. If anyone out there knows how to fix this, PLEASE HELP! It is quite weird that i can download and install all those applications, but i can't use it. I have T-Mobile USA.

You need the right ISP installed and selected under Settings>Configuration>Preferred Access Point. This is completely separate from the browser connection.
