64-bit server, 32-bit client: Addon Development
Hello,
First time posting so bear with me
Given how Business One handles distributing addon installations between the client and the server, what is the recommended strategy for running 32-bit client versions of Business One while the server operates under 64-bit?
We have compiled 64-bit versions of the addon for the server, but it attempts to distribute them to the client, and visa versa, thus throwing errors. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Chris

Installing 64 bit client on Windows Server 2008
Hi,
I'm trying to install an 11.2.0.2 64 bit client on my windows 2008 R2 server and its not going through. The install wizard completes, but when I click "install" it starts up the install and just closes in about 3 seconds installing nothing in the install directory.
We currently have a 32 bit 11.2.0.2 client installed on the server as well.
How can I get the 64 bit client to install properly?
I've tried running the setup.exe as admin, running it through cmd with ignore system prereqs, and giving the install folder full permissions to everyone
Edited by: 893188 on Oct 25, 2011 12:41 PMPl confirm that you are installing using two separate ORACLE_BASE directories - one for 32-bit and the other for 64-bit.

Help me in the issue, Asp dot net exe which run from server in IE 8 window 7 32 bit client machine show security file save download message. This app was running fine if we don't apply any window 7 or IE8 patches. same issue when running in
IE9. I already run the caspol, add the server link to trusted site with low security. I wonder why it was working fine without any patches.
I just found that client machine win 7 32 bit has dot net 4.5.1 installed when updated all the patches. after uninstall the dot net 4.5.1. the application worked fine. now I wonder what are the settings need to change to run the application with dot net 4.5.1
installed on machine. as Microsoft always has these things in window updates. thanks in advance.Hi Gparhar,
In case you are posting on .NET setup forum, I suspect it is not the right forum for your issue, we talks about "setup and deployment of .NET Framework.", if you have problem on installing and uninstalling .NET 4.5.1, we can share you some advice.
For your specific case, I recommend you consult ASP.NET forum instead:

64 bits client connecting to a 32 bits server
I need to know if connecting a 64 bits client to a 32 bits server is possible and if there is any issue with that ?
There should not be any issue as long as client and server version are compatible.

TimesTen 64-bit Server + 32-bit Client
Is it possible to install TimesTen 64-bit (client and server components) on the same machine as the 32-bit client component?
I was able to successfully install TimesTen 64-bit, client and server components. I have an application (in C#) that is compiled in 32-bit because of some free 3rd party software that only supports 32-bit. I am trying to get my application to connect to TimesTen, so I figured I needed the 32-bit TimesTen client components. Once I installed the latter, I get the following message when I try to connect to ttIsql:
IM002: Data source name not found and no default driver specified
The command failed.
When I uninstall the 32-bit client component, I am able to connect with ttIsql again.
To install the 32-bit client components, I unselected the Times Ten Data Manager and Times Ten Server.
Edited by: zeclair on Apr 12, 2010 12:27 PMInteresting. Thats one of hte MS Visual C++ runtime libraries. Not sure if the TT installer should install that or if we 'expect' that it is there already. Seems like you have gotten all this working now, which is good. Something to be careful of is the 'Register Environment Variable' check box at installation time. It's best not to check that for both the 64 and 32 bit installs. I'd recommend either not checking it at all and using a .CMD or .BAT file ot set the variables as needed for what you are doing or to check it for the 64-bit install (thereby making that the 'default' and set the variables correctly via a script when you need to do things with the 32-bit client.

I installed 64bit Oracle successfully and was able to connect to DB using SQL Developer and sqlplus (Oracle E1local and TNSListener is up and running). I installed Oracle 32bit client and copied both tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files to C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client\Network\admin. But if i am trying to access DB through Oracle 32bit client (thru cmd as sqlplus /sys as sysdba or thru sqlplus , it is throwing ORA:12560. "TNS: protocol adapter error ". (Both 62bit server and 32 client on same VM machine - Windows 2008 R2 ). I directly executed sqlplus from "C:\app\Adm\....client\bin", but it is still throwing same error and because of this JDEdward installation is not able to find if any database is running or not.!
My environment variables order: %PATH% = C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client\bin;c:\Oracle\E1Local\bin; I have seen all the previous threads and try setting ORACLE_HOME and PATH variable using CMD and tried accessing the database, but it fails all the time.
Please help me with the problem. Thanks in advance.Thread moved from Peoplesoft forum to JD Edwards.

Oracle 11g install for WinXP 64-bit - is 32-bit client needed?
I just saw that the WinXP 64-bit version of 11g is now available.
Does anyone know if it is necessary to install both the 64-bit Database and 32-bit Client on the same machine for a development server. This was the procedure for 10gR2 as the 64-bit ODBC drivers would not work with 32-bit ODBC apps.
Thanks!I submitted a TAR/SR on MetaLink...
Yes... you need both. -
Installation of forms 11g release 2 on windows 7 64 bit client
Hi,
I am trying to install forms and reports 11g release 2 on my windows 7 64 bit client.
When I tried to install it, I got a message Weblogic should be installed first.
In the Oracle site there are many versions of Weblogic. Which should I install?
Thanks
RaniRani,
Oracle has rebranded the Oracle Developer Suite (ODS) as Fusion Middleware (FMw). Part of the evolution of the suite has been the replacement of the OC4J Container used by ODS to use WebLogic Server. Unfortunately, in order to install the FMw Forms and Reports builders you must also install the WebLogic Server (WLS) on your development workstation. Each version of FMw is dependent on a specific version of the WLS. Here is the basic break down:
WLS 10.3.2 with FMw R1 (11.1.1.2)
WLS 10.3.3 with FMw R1 (11.1.1.3)
WLS 10.3.4 with FMw F1 (11.1.1.4)
WLS 10.3.5 with FMw R2 (11.1.2)
As you can see, you will need to download and install the WLS 10.3.5 before you can install FMw R2. Make sure you do not run the WLS configuration step at the end of the instllation. When you install FMw r2, it will perform the necessary configuration the WLS and Forms and Reports Services.
Hope this helps,
Craig B-)

addon - go to the jdev fora.
What's stopping you going [url http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html]here and downloading the x86_64 version?
The licence is very liberal (for a proprietary product).

One is the severity for RAM is listed as Severity:IGNORABLE.
Secondly I just saw this happen to myself just a moment ago (which is how I found this threat) as well using a silent install on a Windows 2008r2 server I can install to using the setup.exe manually. so disk and memory really isn't an issue.
I suspect something else is going on here. If you read those warnings the Critical they are just the last two about disk space and the PATH variable. Perhaps I am not running as elevated as I thought or the C$ share is not reach able. I am going to keep trying and will report back here when I get my silent install working.

Insalling 32 & 64 bit clients in Windows 7 64bit OS
Hi,
We are using Windows 7 64bit OS. We have both 32 bit and 64 bit applications accessing our Oracle 10g server.
Some applications are listed bellow.
1) Forms 6i 32 bit
2) 32 bit VB6 application
3) Office VBA applications
4) Autocad 64 bit VBA
5) ASP.NET
I first installed forms6i. I find all my 32bit applications working perfectly.
Then I insalled 64 bit oracle 11g instant client & ODAC & ODBC. I tested the 64bit ODBC connection and it works.
Then when i try to run the 32 bit applications it not working.
I find that in registry my oracle home is pointing to the new 64bit client.
How to make both 32bit and 64bit applications work together.
Regards,
ShijithHi,
Thanks Srini for your quick reply.
Meanwhile we succeeded in installing both Oracle 32bit and 64 bit clients. The following clients are installed.
1) Oracle Forms 6i
2) Oracle 10g 32 bit client
3) Oracle 11g instant client, ODAC & odbc for 64bit.
By this we are able to run our
1) oracle form based applications
2) VB 6 Complied Applications
3) ODBC for both 32 & 64 bit.
But we can’t connect from VBA forms from both Office 2010 64 bit and Autocad VBA 2012 64 bit.
I tried ole db for connection string from VBA which gives the error prtovider was not found. Please provide me the steps [references if needed] and connection string for OleDB or any other method.
Actually I don't have much experience with oracle. This is what heppen so far.
Regards,
Shijith -
The 32-bit client is not installed in B1_SHR
Hello
I just upgraded to SBO 9.0 PL12 after hard work, it all upgraded BUT in the server in the B1_SHR folder the 32 bit client is not installed (only 64bit). Is there an easy way to install the the clients ? I see that in the PL12 Upgrade Patch is not possible to install only the client. What is your suggestion

OWB x64 bit client installed with RDBMS does not work?
Has anyone tried the OWB 11gR1 (11.1.0.7) client installed with Oracle database x64? I found out that I could not perform the following tasks:
1. could not create a new table
2. could not import MDL file the first time for a project (only project name is added; I had to run the second time to get all the profile and maps imported)
It throw out an OWB internal error and hangs after having the above two problems. Is there any configuration need to be done to get it to work correctly?
Thanks,
htuThe OWB x64 bit client is broken:
https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:15:1377335913212499434::::p15_database_id,p15_docid,p15_show_header,p15_show_help,p15_black_frame,p15_font:BUG,8871963,1,1,1,helvetica
This is what is this document:
"Only server side functionality (repo creation, ControlCenter, OMB) is supported on server platforms. Design client needs to run on Linux-32 or
Windows-32. This is not a bug in OWB. "
Has anyone tried the OWB client installed with x32 Oracle database? Does the OWB client with 32 database work?
Thanks,

Installing 32-bit client on windows 64-bit
Hi friends,
I've installed 64-bit Oracle software and database on Windows 2008 64-bit server. We have created this server to troubleshoot something at 3rd party location and our application will be on the same server as the database. Our application is not compatible with 64-bit client so is it possible to install 32-bit Oracle client on this system with 64-bit oracle database running? Do I have to make any changes to the path for the application to use 32-bit cilent?
THanks a lotnewbiegal wrote:
