6480 issue: huge delay in printing.

The problem seems to be a lack of communication or hugely delayed communication between my pc and my printer. Once it starts to actually print, it prints at normal speed. If i print a document, it goes into the que, but won't print. Then all of a sudden, it will start printing anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes later.
If i clear the que, it won't clear at all unless i reboot or use the HP Print Diagnostic Utility to "fix" the que. it will just say "deleting" for a while and then disappear suddenly.
I've tried connecting the printer both wirelessly and with a usb cable and am having the exact same issues.
I've tried printing directly to the printer without spooling, this causes programs like word to lock up and just locks the to-be-printed documents in the que.
I've tried with spooling, this just puts items in the que and then delays the starting of the printer as described above.
I've used the HP Print Diagnostic Utility and if nothing is in the que, then everything comes up with green checks and shows all clear.
I've checked to ensure proper driver usage (using 6400 series driver, version 10).
I have plenty of RAM, hard-drive space and have my printer set to use "plain paper."
I'm using Vista 64 SP1.
All in all i've been busy with this for over 7 hours. I'm at a loss.
Can anyone please help me?
Thanks for your time.

Are you using a static IP, my printer is wired not wirless.  Solution Center (10), printer, scanner etc. was working just fine when I had my printer set to use a DHCP address.  Oh using Vista Home Premium for the OS.  After I switched it to a static IP (outside the DHCP scope) the connection to it went belly up.  I added the printer hostname and IP to a host and lmhost file which seems to have helped a (very little) bit.  Now if I turn the printer on after the PC is up the first print job hangs and a solution center pop up appears and if you open it, in the window is a fix it box that does a reconnect to the printer.  I think it is just restarting the print spooler or one of there many memory hog .exe's or .dll's
THE PROBLEM as I see it (and apparently on other posts on all the other forums I've checked) is that the HP Solution Center Software is for Sh_t, and using the printer without it and with only the drivers does not work well either.  I haven't wasted my time as yet to contact their support but my first questiion to them is going to be how do I get a refund on the Solution Center portion of my purchase.  It's a simple thing using a static IP!  Did your developers not bother to try it on a printer with a static IP.  Sorry went off a bit on this reply as you can tell I am not pleased at all with the HP software, printer works well though when you can get connected to it.

  • Huge delay in Printing Crystal Report Layout

    Good Day Experts,
I am experiencing big delays when printing a document that makes use of a Crystal Report Layout Design.
    For example,
The Sales Quote is set to automatically print when added by the user.
When clicking 'Add', SAP freezes up and only about 30 seconds later does the printer finally print the document.
During that time, the user cannot use SAP at all.
The layout does have a lot of fields and a few formulas here and there.
Logically, I am thinking that that is the reason for the delay, as SAP needs to calculate and populate those fields.
Is there any other way that I could speed up this process? Or if you know what might be causing this speed issue?
    Your assistance will be appreciated,
    Thanks
    Regards
    Dario

  • Unable to open PDF in Web Browser and delay for printing

In my LAN, on several PCs running with Windows 7 (32 and 64 bits), I observe two problems with "Acrobat Reader XI":
    - Delays / unable to open pdf files in the web browser (Internet Explorer).
    - Delays in printing: for example it takes over 8 minutes to print a pdf file: 400kB for two pages (on different printers / models).
Here's the list of actions that I've allready tried to issue those problems:
For the Web Browser problem :
    - Repair the "Acrobat Reader XI" installation.
    - Uninstalling and Installing Acrobat Reader.
    - In the web browser, disabling and activating the add-on (Adobe PDF Reader).
    - Uninstall "Acrobat Reader XI" and install "Acrobat Reader X"
Temporary issue: downgrade to "Acrobat Reader 9", which solves the problem with the web browser.
    For the printing delay:
    - Repair the "Acrobat Reader XI" installation
    - Change the printers drivers (install Universal Drivers PCL)
    - Check the box: "Print As Image" before printing
    Any Idea ?

You can get that error if there is still an old Adobe Reader plugin in the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder.
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\nppdf32.dll

I have the exact same issue right now!

  • 30 to 40 second delay when printing a PDF

I have a PC running XP Pro- after a recent trip to the repair shop for a failed hard drive I am now experiencing a 30 to 40 second delay when trying to print pdf's. When I have a pdf open I click on the printer icon and then wait 30 or more seconds for the print window to open to select how many copies etc... after it opens I select print and then another 10 to 15 second delay before printing.
I was advised to go to the advanced on the print page and select to print as Image. This has not helped.
I have reinstalled the latest Adobe Reader as well as reinstalled printer. Nothing has helped.
    Word documents print perfectly.
Any help would be appreciated -wasting lots of time at work!
    Thanks!
    Ray

I have a similar issue and have up to date drivers. Printing from other programs (eg word/excel and all my other software!) is "instant". The delay within Adobe Reader is only for the first document of the day. This issue has persisted from v9 to v X that I am currently using. I have uninstalled and re-installed Reader with no chnage.C'mon Adobe ... there must be a fix for this! For info I am running a Win7Pro w/s on a SBS2003 network, one printer is attached to the w/s by USB, the other printer is a network resource.

  • Huge delay after "liveconnect: Invoking JS method: document"

    Hi,
We're trying to deply an application which uses a Java applet on the (browser) client. All went well in v.1.4.2, but when I switched to v1.5.0_02 I had serious delay on starting the applet.
Turning on level 5 (output is at the end)in the console shows there is a delay of sometimes more then 60 seconds between "liveconnect: Invoking JS method: document" and "liveconnect: Invoking JS method: URL".
After "liveconnect: Invoking JS method: document" CPU goes up to about 50-60% for approx. 5 seconds. It then goes up to 100% for about a minute. Once Java continues, everything works fine. However, startup times of more then a minute is just not acceptable to our customers and most will probably close/kill their browser before that.
Can anyone of you tell me what is exactly going on during "liveconnect: Invoking JS method: document" and why that could take so much CPU and about a minute. It is even before loading the actual JAR file, so I do not suspect the applet itself.

  • Amp Simulator causing huge delay

So Ive had my mac since Aug 2006. Its worked perfect, all the features worked fine on my simple 1GB of ram. I bought the New iLife 08 a few months ago and it worked fine and I enjoyed the new features. However as of a few weeks ago my computer is acting like it weird, it seems it cannot use the Amp simulator anymore. Why? it causes a HUGE delay in playing. When playing, it will start like it usually does but the delay keeps going and going until I am play a note and dont hear anything till 5-10 seconds later.
How could this happen? I dont know. It worked fine, nothing new was installed nothing new was added... It just suddenly decided it wanted to stop using the amp simulator. I even upgraded to 2GB of ram and I still! am having the same problem.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello,
    Accordin to the following link
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361G-01/lvtextmath/msfunc_eval/
Using the "eval" function in Mathscript node will slow down a lot the process.
Try to use mathematical functions directly rather intepreting the string.
    kind regards,
    Ion R.

  • Why do my MAC Microsoft Office printouts always issue me an additional print copy of the Filename,   author, date, minutes, words  etc? It is wasting ink and paper.  What can I do to remove this?

Yes but there's no point doing it here. As the Terms of Use make quite clear this is a User to User forum. It's Users like you talking to other Users. It's not a channel to communicate with Apple.

  • Live Stream - Huge Delay

    Hello,
We have major issue with delayed video.
The delay may reach up to 10-15 minutes. When we restart
Flash Media Encoder (Stop/Start) the delay is reseted.
We are using Flash Media Encoder for quite some time with
Flash Media Server 2.0. Both are the newest version.
Latency between Flash Media Encoder and Server is about
200-300ms. I assume there is a bug and the video stream does not
    get synchronized.
I can provide you an access to demo machine if you like.
We observed this on several machines.

    Hi,
You won't have much luck with gettng that delay down unless
you have less than 100 ms of latency.
My understanding is that because of a non optimal condition
existing between the server and encoder the server will basically
compensate by buffering longer. You could also see a stream with no
delay inititally but if network conditions change the delay could
grow and because the server doesn't "catch up" the delay will
remain until the encoder is restarted.
    Hope that helps,

  • Long Delay When Print Commands Sent To HP Wireless Officejet

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 connected via a wireless connection to my home LAN. I have a late 2009 iMac (ethernet connection) running the latest release of Snow Leopard. Both the HP printer device and scanner device show up as installed in the Print & Fax settings of preferences with full functionality and they both work. The printer is normally idle (in sleep mode) until one sends a command. Any print command sent from any Mac OS X application to the device takes about 40 seconds to wake up the device if it is idle. Print commands sent from Windows XP applications running via a bootcamp partition wake up the printer instantly.  Print commands sent from any other Windows OS based computer connected wirelessly on the LAN also wake the HP instantly.
I would appreciate any ideas as to why there is this delay when printing from Snow Leopard.

I installed from the HP CD that came with the Officejet. It says MAC OS X v104, v10.5, Version 9.8.0 (I assume this is the HP version) and then updated to the 2/11 Apple HP Driver update. So I appear to have followed your advice.
Note that Print & Fax preferences shows 2 devices for the Officejet. One is the printer and the other device is the fax. The printer has both printer and scan tabs. The fax does work as I just tried it. When I open the printer utility for the printer from within preferences, two devices are listed: The printer (green) and I can access the settings. The Fax identifed in its name as being at teh same ip address, but is is in red and the settings can not be accessed.
I opened the embedded web server to look at all the settings. I'm using DHCP.
Here is what I found under Networking:
    Host name is correct.
Proxy setting are blank, which is correct.
Network Protocols are set to Both IPv4 and IPv6
Under Wireless: IPv4 Addressing is set to Automatic IP & Automatic DNS Server. IPv6 is empty. The Advanced settings are all under Infrastructure and correct. Ad Hoc settings are blank. Compatibility has the 2nd item checked that says in an Ad Hoc network use 811.b behavior.

  • HP Laserjet 6P delay in printing issue

Long lapse of time between initiating "print" and HPLaserJet 6P actually printing. What could be causing delay?  Thanks for any help.

The product you have seems to be a commercial printer. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!
You may find the Commercial Laserjet board here.

  • Officejet 6480 feeder puts line on prints & scans

When using the feeder on my Officejet 6480, a vertical line from top to bottom appears on the right side approximately 2" from the edge.  Problem happens whether scanning or copying.

If after following the steps in that document you are still having the issue, and Printing is fine, and copying/scanning from the flatbed is fine, then you have 3 options really:
    1. Avoid using the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) and stick to using the glass
    2. Service the product
    3. Repeat the cleaning process until if/when the issue clears up.
If after cleaning you are sure that there is no debris on the glass strip, then I would theorize that the defect is from within the glass, not on the exterior.
    Hope this helps
