720p, 59.94fps to SD DVD in CS5

Hi - I'm kind of new to Encore and I'm having some trouble with it.  I received some video shot in 1280x720p, 59.94 fps.  I need to take that video and put it onto a SD DVD.  The main subject in the video is wearing glasses and no matter what settings I try, the frames of the glasses look pretty bad.  If I find a setting that looks good on a computer monitor, it doesn't look good on a TV screen.  I have also tried crunching the video to MPEG-2 DVD in Premiere CS5 before bringing into Encore.
Does anyone have a recommendation on whether I should do the video compression in Encore or Premiere?  And what settings I should be using?
Thanks.

Try to watch this video, I think you will find answer.

What is the exact error message you are receiving?  You may also want to see Installation, launch log errors | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CCM - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/installation-launch-log-errors-creative.html.
It sounds like this issue occured when you tried copying the application over.  If you can provide the exact error it might still be possible to recover from this action.

  • Importing a DVD with CS5

I am trying to figure out how to import a unprotected DVD into a project with CS5 premiere
When I use File >Import and browse to my DVD disk I see the usual VOB's in the video folder.
Is there indeed a "direct" way to easily import a DVD into premiere.
    Thanks
    Rowby

Media Browser sees the .vob files so it's just a matter of  dragging and dropping them into the timeline or the project bin.
By the way, the same technique applies to Blu-ray discs.
That means the source of the files are on the DVD.  Not a great source location for editing from compared to a fast HDD

  • 1080i and 720p footage going to 576i DVD?

    Hi.
Just getting my head around the best way to attack this.
I have a pile of 1080i and 720p footage which needs to be edited together with the final destination being a 576i DVD.
Now, being a country that uses interlacing and as at least half of my footage is interlaced, it seems a bit of a waste to
convert the 1080i to 720p and then convert it all back to interlaced again with the DVD encoding. So wondering about the merits of an intermediate 720i timeline? So the same settings as the 1080i but 1280x720 dimensions.
Is this a good/bad/stupid idea? Any better way to do this?
    Thanks a lot

1.) They will be the same aspect ratio (16:9, square pixels), but each will take up more or less room within the frame than the other.
2.) If you start a 720p sequence, then yes, anything larger than 1280x720 will need to be reduced to fit entirely within the frame.
3.) You can select "Scale to Frame Size" by right clicking on the video clip, or manually resize the video through the source video's Effect Controls box. In addition, with the advent of CS4, Adobe has added a nifty little feature that was absent from earlier editions of Premiere, including CS3, and that is "Maximize Render Quality." This feature is checked from within the sequence settings dialog box, or selected from your export settings, and ensures that any footage that is scaled to fit the native resolution of the sequence will be handled appropriately so that it maintains maximum visual sharpness and resolution.
Keep in mind that there are different flavors of 720p and 1080i, so in future posts it would be helpful to designate which one you are referring to. For example, HD is defined as having a resolution of 1920x1080, and 1280x720 with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a pixel aspect ratio of 1.0, or 1:1. Panasonic DVCPROHD, through the use of line doubling, is actually 1280x1080 (1.5 pixel aspect ratio), and 960x720 (1.33 pixel aspect ratio), and Sony's HDCAM/XDCAM HD is 1440x1080 (1.33 pixel aspect ratio). Knowing exactly what format you are shooting in and what the native resolution you will be editing in will help maximize your results within the editing software and ensure that your video is not visually distorted. It will also offer you realtime playback direct from the timeline without the need to render, presuming you have a system that is up to spec.

  • My DVD with CS5.5 Master Upgrade is broken. Downloadable at Adobe is only 5.5 Full-Version

    Hello,
my DVD with the upgrade from CS 3 to CS 5.5 Master Edition is not working any more. -Big Problem....
At the Adobe-Site there is only the possibility to download the Full-Version of 5.5 Master Edition, not the Upgrade, so when I try to install this version, the CS says "Wrong Number". -I tried both Numbers, the CS3 an the CS5.5 Upgrade. -No effort.
    Please, can anyone help me????
    Pepe

Thank you kglad for your answer.

  • I lost one of my dvd from cs5 design standard dutch.

    Can i download it somewhere?
On the site i can only find the english version.
I do have my productkey and the rest of the dvd set.

if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

  • Transfering from DVD to CS5.5

    I need help!
I am helping my son make a football highlight tape.  The footage was taken with a Video Camcorder by the coach, and I have now received the footage on separate Dual Layer DVD +R DVD's
How do I move the video into Premier Pro 5.5 when I am not actually going to "capture" it from a device.
    Thanks

You will want to Import the VOB's inside the VIDEO_TS folder. So long as they are 100% DVD-compliant, they should Import just fine. If they are NOT 100% DVD-compliant, there can be issues, and especially with the first VOB. This ARTICLE goes into a bit more detail.
    Good luck,

  • Burnning dual layer dvd Encore CS5.5 errors out.

Here is the greatest error I have ever seen.
I got to burn a dual layer dvd transcoded from AVCHD 1080i with fallowing settings.
Edited footage in PPro and send to Encore via Dynamic link, created dvd project using Mpeg2 with 9mbps, Dolby 192 for Audio.
File size to be burned on dvd is 5.67gb, aprox 1 hour 10 min transcoded with 9mbps, 720x40 wide screen, audio is 192kbps Dolby.
There are three menus one is main and tow sceen selection menus, noting fancy everything as default. menus linked as usual nothing fancy and and it is very basic.
All assets, that used for motion menus and main video is transcoded fine, but when it gets to put dvd together I get this error
Encore starts organizing videos for disk and after that it gets to this above and thats it. Press ok Build progress box gives fail message and option to Ok it. After pressing Ok button this box goes away to build panel.
I have tried to change an Automatic layer break to manual still get the same error, I have tried a custom layer break and still get the same error again, I have tried dvd, and an image, and folder for dvd, still the same error there to. I have redone project from scratch and still got the same result.
However previously I have burned many Dual layer dvds using the same method described, and same settings described, and never had this problem.
Nothing on the PS was changed except the updates installed regularly.
Anybody have any Idea what is this all about? Because I just burned 16 Blu Ray discs, and 16 Dual layer discs on one of the project, and next one a day latter this happens.

I'm having the same problem. not once did it, the encore was automatically break in the case of dual layer dvd. now he does not. I mark the box DUAL LAYER 8.54gb, do DVD disc or image or folder, or change the marking of the layer break from automatic tomanual, and it does not. in the end he always gives the message: duallayer requerid.
wanted to know how to do this manually break, because even in the manual or here on the website of adobe, has no suchinformation. does not show clearly how to manually break. please if someone can give a help, thank you.

  • Sense Code Error 31000 while burning DL DVD Encore CS5 Macbook Pro

While attempting to burn a Dual Layer DVD on my Macbook Pro I got this error: "Sense Code 31000" just before it started to burn.
I changed the burn speed, verified my laptop burns DVD+R DL discs. Any help is much appreciated. Must burn a master to duplicated 100 dvds by Friday. Thanks!

    Hi,
Sense Code errors are hardware or blank media related.
Try to burn with other blank disc, if it does not work then the problem may be because of burner.

  • Converting h264 720p ntsc footage to pal DVD for a client and get no audio.

    Hey,
I tried dropping the rendered video into the encoder  first and then tried to render from the h264 timeline to a new PAL DVD file directly and neither one has audio.
Is there something I am missing?
    Windows 7 ultimate
8 core AMD R9270x graphics card (Open Cl working great for rendering now)

Most DVD players can handle both PAL (Europe and other countries) and NTSC.
No practical method to change the frames per second rate without introducing other problems.

  • 720p Feature to DVD

    Hi Guys,
As some of you may or may not know we're in the process of making a independant film. We're filming the film on an HVX200 Camera and recording in 720p24. We're then taking the feature to various locations in London and showing the film for a week at each venue through HD Projection. Later on the project will go to DVD.
Here is my question, how can we put the 720p feature onto an SD DVD? Will we have to downconvert to an SD anamorphic format to maintain 16:9 ratio? Is there another way to do it?
Your thoughts would be very much appreciated!

If you want people to play it on their home DVD player you will need to downconvert it to SD.
I am not sure what Shane is referring to exactly because you can make an SD or HD m2v file from Compressor. So I agree with Shane that you should use compressor, but in regards to your output format (i.e. so that John Smith home viewer can watch it) it will need to be downconverted. You can do this through Compressor by chosing one of the presets "DVD: Best Quality for best quality 90 min - 16x9"
You can also burn a backup copy in HD. In Compressor start with the preset "HD DVD: HD MPEG-2 30 minutes." That will get you a good working base where you can then tweak your settings.

  • Can CS5 import from a PAL DVD, then burn a NTSC DVD?

Hi, I've looked to see if PAL to NTSC has come up in the forum but couldn't spot it.  Has anyone taked the footage from a PAL DVD into CS5?  And is it possible to then send that footage to burn a NTSC DVD?  Thanks for any help!

The footage will need conversion at some point, and PP may not be the best tool for that job.  Try the link below (but try it quick, it won't be up for long).  If memory serves, one of the options Dan set up was to convert between NTSC and PAL (or in your case, the other way 'round).

  • Encore DVD's are shakey/jumpy after burning...

I'm very new to video but I've learned just enough to be dangerous, so any constructive help is appreciated.
Projects were shot on a Nikon D300s and D90(720p, 24fps), cut up in Premiere Pro CS5 and Dynamic Linked into Encore.  Using the standard NTSC, DVD defaults (didn't touch a thing), the final disc is shakey/jumpy.  Looks like flickering, but the image on screen is actually changing position in what looks like the vertical plane.
Here's where it gets weird.  .ncor files from my old CS4 system still burn beautifully.  If I open the old project in PPro CS5 and DL to Encore, shakey discs.  In the Encore Preview the project plays perfectly.
An observation I had was that the problematic timelines in Encore all had what looked like horizontal banding in the timeline "thumbnails".  The previous version .ncor files have clean thumbnails.
And if it helps, my little GoPro camera burns just fine.  What could be different between projects in CS4 and CS5?  Is it something that Premiere is doing or Encore?  Since the previews in Encore look good until you burn the disc, I'm thinking Encore is the culprit so far.
I'm sure I have left out a ton of pertinant details to help you help me, so please fire away.
    Thanks

Would it be best when using Premiere and Encore, to use Adobe media Encoder and make my video into a file, then bring that file into Encore, or does it not make any difference which way you do it as I've just been putting my timeline straight into Encore when its ready to goto DVD.
You can do it either way. But if you export, you have one more step to make sure the fields are correct. Your problem, is probably in the Premiere settings, so I would do an export from AME unless you discover you need to.

  • Need advice on encode settings for Premiere file to be played back on DVD

Hi - hoping someone can help me with my encoding settings.  I seem to be on the right track because everything looks good until you play the video on DVD.
I use Windows Movie Maker to encode my exports to DVD.  This software does not accept MP4 but it seems to accept a variety of other files and one is WMV.  I first exported a WMV clip from Premiere at 1920x1080 (the raw video and graphics are also in that size).  Then I exported another WMV clip to 1280x720.  I just wanted to see what both of them look like on a DVD during play back.
    Here are the export settings:
Here is what the1280 WMV looks like when it's played back on my desktop computer in Windows Media player.  As you'll see everything looks very clean:
I then imported the 2 WMV clips into Windows Movie Maker, selected the 16:9 settings, and it encoded them into a finished DVD.  I then played the DVD back on my 50 inch TV in my living room.  Below you'll see a photo I took of the 1920 clip; notice how the text looks jagged:
Then the photo below of the 1280 clip looks much cleaner.
But obviously I'd like for the finished DVDs to look if possible even cleaner than the 1280 photo above - hopefully like it looks in the photo of the WMV playing back on my computer.  These videos will be distributed to different local offices.
Are my WMV settings correct?  Should I export to other than WMV? How can I improve on the 1280 DVD photo above so everything looks even cleaner (if possible)?  I have Adobe Encore - should I use that instead of Movie Maker?
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

A DVD is 720x480 so anything larger must be scaled down to be legal according to the DVD specification

  • Some HDV to DVD Screen Size Questions, Basic I know

This is my first foray into HD of any kind, but I've been using FCP on and off since version 2.
I'm importing from a Canon HV40 mini dv camera which uses HDV. The easy setup I'm using is
HDV to ProRes - Canon-1080i60. Capturing works, but I was advised by a friend to try burning a DVD and seeing if it works before continuing, so I did. I tried using Share, DVD SP and iDVD.
I have a Samsung 720p TV and a Samsung DVD player. The picture is floating in the middle of the screen, with black bars all the way around it, using up around 50% of the screen real estate. Is this just the nature of HDV, or is there something else I need to do? Thanks in advance!

Keep in mind that a DVD always contains a standard definition image. The standard def image can be in a 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio - but it is always 720x480 pixels.
The problem is likely the communication between your DVD player and the TV set. Check the settings for both. If you are starting with a 4:3 image, the DVD player should send a pillar boxed image to a 16:9 display and be full screen on a 4:3 TV. If you send a 16:9 anamorphic image, it should display full screen on the 16:9 device and letterboxed on the 4:3 TV.
To make sure this happens you need to select 16:9 letterboxed under the disk settings in DVDSP then look into the TVs settings for how it handles feeds.
