8220 Flip External Screen Problem

I'm a brand new blackberry owner and this is my first ever blackberry devive, so please be patient with me
The external display on my 8220 Flip is not acting how it was all day yesterday after I bought it.  The external screen constantly displays the clock and will not turn itself off.  I charged it last night on the bedstand and this morning it was still on.  Playing music works ok, but the clock still displays if music is playing while the flip is closed.  External buttons for pause and volume work correctly, and cause the external "now playing" screen to briefly appear, but then it goes right back to the clock.
I'm not sure exactly how this would have changed, but it appeared to happen when I changed from one theme to another, unforutnately it did not correct itself by going back to the correct behavior after I returned to the original theme.
I'm almost positive this has to (eventually) have some kind of negative affect on the display and battery life.  Can anyone point me in the right direction for fixing this?
Many thanks in advance!

  • External screen problems with macbook pro

    Hi Guys,
I have recently connected my macbook pro to an external screen via HDMI and am having a weird issue. When the MB is open, it perfectly displays on the external screen. But when I shut the MB, it displays the picture on the external screen for about 5 seconds, then turns off, then turns on again and continues this until I open the MB again.
WHat is going on? Am i missing something?
    thanks guys in advance

Something that's running on your machine (or something that's connected to it) is preventing it from sleeping when you close its built-in display. It should sleep and stay asleep as soon as that display is closed, unless you are running it in clamshell mode:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131
Does the computer sleep properly when you close its display if the external monitor is not connected to it? Does the monitor have a USB cable that connects to the computer, in addition to its video cable?

  • Integrated Graphics & External Screen Problem

    Hey everyone,
Seems that my late 2008 15" MBP has decided to stop working with my external screen when running on the integrated graphics card. The external screen will flash up with my desktop but then switch to to telling me there is no signal being received.
I cannot confirm if it's because I used the OS X v10.6.3 v1.1 Update (Combo) but I'm quite sure it started after I updated to this.
Has anyone had any experience with this and found any solutions, or have a troubleshooting tips for me or am I looking at an archive and reinstall...

Found out that the under the resolution settings for my external screen, there were two options for the native resolutions at the same Hz. Although both identical settings, one worked while the other did not...

  • EMac external screen problem

I am trying to connect an external monitor (Acer 22" P221WD) to my eMac with the VGA adapter.
At boot time I get a "Input Not Supported" message on the monitor -- the computer seems to boot fine, though (although I get no output on the CRT, which is the reason why I want to use an external).
Any idea what the problem is and how to fix it?
I believe the monitor and cables are OK as the Acer works fine with my MBP.
The eMac (minus its CRT) and VGA adapter also seem OK as I get an output on an older 19" Viewsonic monitor.
I thought of a mismatch in resolution, but the Acer seems to handle 1024x768 fine from the MBP.
Thanks in advance for any idea of what to try next!

Thanks, but this monitor has no such switch -- the auto-detect works fine when I use it with my MBP either on the VGA or the DVI input.
The cause for the problem, it turns out is incompatible refresh (vertical sync) rates. The eMac sends crazy refresh rates (72-138 Hz) while it seems that most modern LCD panels do no go anywhere near that high.
The solution of the problem is not that straightforward though. Apart from finding a monitor that accepts high refresh rates, a suitable scan converter may do the job, but it's difficult to find enough information to get the right combo.

  • Not getting email notifications on the external screen

I'm not sure what caused it, exactly, but I'm not getting any email notifications on my Blackberry Pearl 8220's external screen.  It's only been happening for the last day or so.  I've checked, and external notifications are still enabled in options, and it is still responding with everything else set in my profile (vibrating and lighting up the LED), but the screen doesn't even come on when a new message comes in.  Any ideas what might be causing this, or what I could do to fix it?

If you pull the battery out and reinsert it the external display should start working. It helps to update the phone software you can download it from you service providers web site.

  • Flip an (external) screen with a MacbookAir

I am currently working on my master-thesis. During the developement of my prototype I came upon a litlle problem…
I would like to "flip" my external screen or my screen of my MacbookAir. Is their any kind of tweak or possibility to do this?
    Any sloution is welcome!
I have tried to download the program "Display Rotation Menu" but you can only rotate (90°, 180°, 270°) the external screen and I would like to flip it…
    Thank in advance!

Thanks for the reply David Won1,
The only problem is, that I would like to flip my screen.
For example: If I can flip my screen it wouldn't be possible to read my text on my screen, because it's written in mirrorwriting. This means that the text that I am reading is written in reverse.
And for my master thesis I would like to have my screen in a "reverse" position, like the previous example.
Is there no tweak, program or solution that can help me?
Again, thanks for all the help.

  • [X300 intel external display] Problem to display correctly 1600x1200px on external screen

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my external display on my X300 laptop...
    I have a X300 with WinXP, and a 20" 4/3 1600x1200 external display (Samsung 204B).
When I want to use my external display as an extended desktop, it didn't work well... First I configure my display as an extended ... into 1600x1200px resolution. As the ratio isn't 4/3 on the laptop, there is some border at the top and at the bottom of the external screen, consequenly there is an "lift" (when I go down the screen move down.. etc.). It's not very ..cool.
So there is an option into the graphic proprety to set the screen in "full screen : not keeping the proportions". But, in this case, my external screen display an ... triky ? There is still an "lift", but there is also two border on the right and the left of the screen, and the image quality isn't there. It's too deformed to can be read.
After some research it appear that my lenovo drivers do not match with the last intel one... But when I try to install the lenovo one ... It didn't work ! (hardware problem).
How can I get a working extended desktop into 1440x900 + 1600x1200 full screen !
Thanks for all, and sorry for my poor English...

i have the same problem with X200 and the X200 ultrabay Docking station.
    No idea yet ...

  • Problem using external screen and KVM switch since OSX 10.6.4 update

I've just returned from a trip during which I installed the OSX SL 10.6.4 update on my 13" MacBook Unibody Aluminium (late 2008).
It's been working fine but when I came home and plugged it into my KVM setup my mac could not find the external display. I tried rebooting and reconnecting without any success. The KVM is a Aten CS62DU USB and DVI model. It works great for my PC which is connected to the second input.
Furthermore I've connected the display using only the minidisplay->DVI adapter and a standard DVI cable. This works but not as rigid as it used to. It takes a few connects and disconnects before OSX is able to find the external screen. It seems that the timelimit for handshaking with extrenal screens have been decreased with the 10.6.4 display driver update. Perhaps this is the cause of my problem.
Have anyone experienced something simular since the 10.6.4 update? I really need to get my mac working with my KVM again.

I haven't experienced this specific problem with this specific hardware, but I have updated systems and had to replace KVMs on lower releases of OSX because they simply refused to work.
Any chance a firmware update is available from the manufacturer of the switch?

  • Got HDCP problem on macbook pro screen not even external screen

I have rented a movie (HD) on itunes.
I download it and try to play it, then I have a popup saying that the movie can't be displayed on my screen because of some HDCP restriction.
I don't understand, I've got a mbp retina display, I just try to play the movie on the computer, I did not even plug an external screen.
I am running Mountain Lion 10.8.4, with itunes 11.
I think the most innaceptable is that I did not even have a warning that say that I can't rent the movie, or that I would not be able to read it on my mac.

High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection(HDCP; commonly, though incorrectly, referred to as High-Definition Copy(right) Protection) is a form of digital copy protectiondeveloped by Intel Corporation to prevent copying of digital audio and video content as it travels across connections. Types of connections include DisplayPort (DP),Digital Visual Interface (DVI), and High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), as well as less popular, or now defunct, protocols like Gigabit Video Interface(GVIF) and Unified Display Interface(UDI).
Meaning, someone doesn't want you to be able to play the movie on the screen because of copyright reasons.
    Sorry. (I know, DRM sukcs!!)

  • EXTERNAL SCREEN ON 8220 PEARL NOT WORKING

Well, I lost my OS in the middle of December. Thanks to everybody's help I managed to get a generic OS reloaded and then I went back to the Blackberry Desktop Manager and reloaded my phone provider's (Orange) specific OS. I've also managed to reinstall my backup data and reloaded various apps. Hooray!
However the external screen is completely blank. The only time that it displays anything is when I turn off the phone and then it briefly displays the "T Mobile" logo. (it was originally a T Mobile phone)
How do I get  the external screen to turn back on please?
    Thanks,
    Simon

Try backing up your device via the BlackBerry Desktop Software and performing a clean reload of your device software. http://bbry.lv/bpv7DT
Make sure to test for the issue before restoring any data from your backup file. Then do a selective restore as shown here: http://bbry.lv/bhaArf making sure to restore essential data only such as contacts and calendar.

  • A brand new W540 and the Ultra Dock humms, black out external screen, won't recognize mouse and some

Just received a W540 and an Ultra Dock. Here is my first impressions.
During setup ... tried to connect my speakers directly onto the laptop.... HUMMMMM! (really loud humming sound, until Windows loads ...sounds like a short somewhere ...). Ok, obviously sound is not the main focus of W540.
After a little while... boink! ... and the external screen goes black accompanied with the "Windows detected something disconnect"-sound. No matter what I clicked on the keyboard, or how much a moved the mouse, the external screen wouldn't turn on again. I had to flip up the screen on the laptop, and tada, Windows reported that something connected again, and the external screen turned on again. Turns out that I need to keep the laptop screen open at all times now, and now and then both screens disconnect and connect again. Not completely a showstopper, but somewhat annoying. Ok, how to fix - enter "lenovo ultra dock black screen" in Google and see that a bunch of people have experienced the same thing. After some reading, I found this official support page "LENOVO THINKPAD PRO DOCK AND THINKPAD ULTRA DOCK ARE CAUSING DISPLAY ISSUES ON EXTERNAL MONITORS" (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht081248). Seems to fit my situation perfectly. Just download the fwdphb03.exe program and follow the instructions. But does fwdphb03.exe even start?!? NO!
Just a brief flicker and no application nor instructions to follow. In addition, I am Administrator on my machine. Please make applications that at least attempt to work....
I have an Aten mouse and keyboard switch (KVM) (CS-1784 to be precise), which have been working seamlessly for years on all other machines I have (VMWare images with different Windows versions, Raspberry Pi and Mac). Connecting the KVM with it's mouse and keyboard renders a working keyboard and a dead mouse (remember - switching to one of the other machines renders working keyboard and mouse instantly).... <rant on>pheeew, starting to get a bad feeling here. OBVIOUSLY we have a lot of cool hardware like USB 3 and DisplayPort and what not, but WHAT DOES THAT MATTER, when the Lenovo folks can't program this stuff properly?</rant off>
The W540 comes with a lot of Lenovo software. Much of it is really good and useful. But what happened when you try to log in to Windows? For some reason Lenovo want to inform you that the Num Lock is on when you see the standard login screen. The message something like "Num Lock is on - your password may be entered incorrectly". All in some black background, covering OVER the login field in Windows !!!! Hey, the laptop has a numeric keyboard, I don't need this message. Luckily others again have experience the same thing. At this page http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/New-T540p-numlock-warning-at-login/td-p/142... I get the tip that I need to rename the tpnumlk.exe to something else. Gone was the stupid message.
My advice to Lenovo - don't include stuff that harvest a lot of complaints and that obviously is going to annoy your customers. Even if the machine was one with a small keyboard and no separate numeric keyboard, I would NEVER EVER want to have some ugly black box covering over the standard login field…  I can’t even imagine that the developer of this tool, use it (nor like it)! That is exactly why bloatware gets its reputation.
I would of course understand all this if I were talking about cheap machines and some wacko docking station. But I am not.... This is state-of-the-art, 2014, expensive-style laptop from the same manufacturer.
PS! At the end of this session, Lenovo tells me that there is a problem with the powersystem, and that it want to reduce power to sustainable levels....

can you connect the device in _*recovery mode*_ ?

  • Blackberry 8220 Flip phone gives red light, then shows clock and repeats...... forever....!

Hi I have a blackberry pearl 8220 flip that's bricked. It goes from a long red light to the clock loading screen and continues until by battery is dead.
I have tried reloading the current OS available (v4.6.0.174) through the latest blackberry desktop manager several times, and I did select the options to completely wipe all data on the pearl. I got the desktop manager to detect the phone by taking out the battery at first, and then putting it in. The reload worked properly, everything got wiped off and the os was reinstalled. It worked for a couple of hours, but the problem pops up again. I've even tried reloading an older os (4.5) but it doesn't work either.
    Please help...

Hmmm...OK, then you might need to completely wipe it out first and then reload the OS...see this:

If that fails, then you are probably ready for warranty support -- from your carrier.
