8i Enterprise install (WinNT) creates 8.0.5 'compatible' database?

As part of a Portal 3.0 evaluation, I downloaded the evaluation kit for 8i Enterprise Edition and have been trying to install it under Windows NT (both NT4 Server and Windows 2000 Server).
I take all the defaults, but when the install is finished, the default database that is created doesn't appear to be the right version. If I pull up the DBA Studio and look at the initialization parameters,
under "compatible", I should see "8.1.0". Instead, I see "8.0.5" -- therefore, when I try to install the WebDB 3.0 early adopter schema, it fails.
In addition, if I try to create a second database with the Database Configuration Assistant, I get an alert box that says: "The correct version of the Oracle CD is not found on this system. Insert the
proper Oracle CD."
What am I doing wrong?

Look like you are in deep.....:(
I don't think...the init.ora says what version you are running....that is just the
says
COMPATIBLE allows you to use a new release, while at the same time guaranteeing backward compatibility with an earlier release. This is in case it becomes necessary to revert to the earlier
release. This parameter specifies the release with which the Oracle server must maintain compatibility. Some features of the current release may be restricted.
if you want to check what version you are on ...
from the SQL plus or svrmgrl
select * from v$version;
result should look like the following:
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production
PL/SQL Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production
CORE 8.1.6.0.0 Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 8.1.6.0.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 3.4.0.0.0 - Production
as far as the second problem goes...
what are you alert log saying....
I wouldn't be able to shed any light on the second...however if you could provide me the following, perhaps then I could...
Do you have the database installed ?
Is it up and running?
good luck..

  • Trouble installing OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on W7 64bit  Enterprise Install

I have installed BIPLATFORM & MDS repositories using RCU utility (11.1.1.5) successfully on 11.2.0.1.0 database. I have my Weblogic Server 10.3.5 generic installed and it is up and running. I am getting struck at OBIEE installation at BIPLATFORM schema.
My connect string in the format hostname:port:servicename is perfect. But, I don't get past this screen. I get the following error:-
INST-08020: One or more entries are found in HSS_COMPONENT table.
-- A new schema must be used in order to install successfully.
I had installed simple install with the connect string metioned above and it works, so there is nothing wrong with the connect string. I removed the simple installation and tried to install OBIEE in Enterprise install. Now, I have no clue what is happening here. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

The problem is most likely one of two thing.
1.) WHen you conducted the simple install you also had to point to the BIPLATFORM and MDS schemas. These schema tables get populated with the first install attempt and succeeded. Then you tried to install using the enterprise install without first droping the BIPLATFORM and MDS Schemas created by the RCU install. Those schemes can only contain one OBI installation at a time unless you changed the prefix (i.e.: DEV_, QA_, PROD_, etc.) of the schemas if you had run the RCU a second time against that database.
2.) You mentioned that you had the weblogic generic install completed. You only need this if you are conducting the Software Only install option. Otherwise the Simple and Enterprise installs will install weblogic for you. If you had installed the generic WLS and then the enterprise you may have a potential conflict.
If I were you I would uninstall OBIEE 11g on that machine. Ensure that any envrionment variables that were created on that machine are remove. Remove WebLogic if it is still present from your WLS Generic install attempt. Then run the RCU utility again and on the first screen of the wizard use the "Drop..." option to remove the BIPLATFORM and MDS Schemes.
Then start up the OBIEE 11g install with Enterprise option. Again, you won't need the WLS Generic if going the enterprise install route.
    I hope that helps.

It is possible to use multiple iPads in my own enterprise and to create an app just for my restaurant not in appstore???

    Yes that's completely feasable.
Actually there is another way to install apps ad-hock that i was not aware of (this does not require the devices to be attatched to the Mac with the SDK and project, it can use any computer or distribute via your LAN:
    iOS Developer Programme:Ad Hoc Distribution
With Ad Hoc distribution you can share your application with up to 100 other iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch users. Through email or by posting it to a website or server, users can download and install your app.

  • Reader X - How do you dock the toolbar permanently on an enterprise install?

We are testing Adobe Reader X now on several machines in our environment. We do not like the floating toolbar and want to dock it permanently for all users (per machine), not just the current user.
The following thread documents the HKCU setting for this.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3607029#3607029
Is there a machine setting or all user setting that can be used when creating the .mst with the Customization Wizard?
We do not want any of our users (30,000 in all) to have to manually make this change.
Enterprise installs should have enterprise soutions for issues like this.
    Thanks,

    To clarify:
    Adobe Reader X
When opening pdfs on the web, some toolbars are not displayed. They appear as a floating tool bar when you move the cursor down the page.  We have had user complaints from users we currenlty have testing Adobe Reader X about this floating tool bar. Since we have 30,000 users, we do not want the Help Desk innundated with calls when we deploy Adobe Reader X to all of these machines.  We need to be able dock the loating tool bar permanently in Adobe Reader X at the machine level, not at the Current User level. This is an enterprise install and I would would like to be able to make this change in the .mst file using the Cusomization Wizard X.

  • Win8 Enterprise Install Problems

    Hi,
i need to install Win8 Enterprise on my MBPr late 2013.
I read that Bootcamp doesnt support the Enterprise, so i created a bootable USB key via the Windows USB tool.
So i used the Bootcamp Assistant to create a partition and another usb key with the support files. Then i booted to the Win8 USB and the Installation started. However it failed, because the BOOTCAMP partition was not of the GPT style.
So i read about it and treid this: i went to Mac OS and disk utility. Then i removed the partition and created a new exFAT BOOTCAMP partition. -> Restart and install Win8 -> format BOOTCAMP partition -> next problem: This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk, ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in computer's Bios menu

Guys, i really need some help here. Somebody must have some experience with Bootcamp.
Is it possible to use a USB boot key that has been created by the Windows tool?

  • Oracle 8i Enterprise Install Error

I installed (successfully) Oracle 8i Enterprise edition on my NT 4.0 SP5. I then confused matters by installing Oracle 7.3.4 Enterprise Manager on the same machine. Realizing I made a mistake - I tried to uninstall Enterprise Manager - but got a LOT of errors. So I cleaned out the registry - uninstalled Oracle 8i, and tried to re-install 8i.
I then received the following error while re-installing 8i: ERROR: The type of data stored in the registry is different from the type returned by this query.
I can no longer perform a "clean" uninstall - and re-install as the release notes suggest, the database instance will NOT start up.

  • Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using an Existing Database

I want to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control 10.2.0.3 using an existing database. This database is RAC 10.2.0.2. and I use it as Infrastructure Metadata Repository.
I is said in Oracle documentation that SYSMAN schema has to be dropped, thus Database console repository has to be dropped. As far as I understand after Grid Control installation I will not be able to use Database console for my RAC 10.2.0.2 Infrastructure Metadata Repository database. I will be able to use only Grid Control for this database.
Am I right? Could you give me any advice about Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using an Existing Database?

Would you recommend installing and creating apps in the apex install schema for e.g. apex_040100? Or would you rather a separate tablespace be used for the application objects? In addition to this we are integrating it with Oracle EBS? Are there any industry best practices for creating tablespaces and schemas for apex applications?

A BIG NO!!!, you should be using separate schema's

    Hi Pablo,

What exactly have you been reading? Because if you take /usr/share/pacman/PKGBUILD.proto or read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Creating_Packages, you can't get to what you have without some serious changes. It seems like you took some bad and old PKGBUILD (not PKGFILE) as a starting point instead of more official/up-to-date docs.
At the very least you should read the section about the package() function.
Edit: now you can copy/paste from the above reply, but try to understand how makepkg works. And since you passed the prefix to ./configure, it's unlikely that you'll need it again for the install step.

  • Failed to Create RBS tables in Content DataBase when installed RBS

I'd config RBS for SQL server 2008 R2. But it failed to create rbs tables in content database after I'd run "msiexec /qn /lvx* rbs_install_log.txt /i RBS-x64.msi TRUSTSERVERCERTIFICATE=true FILEGROUP=PRIMARY DBNAME="WSS_Content"
DBINSTANCE="DBInstanceName" FILESTREAMFILEGROUP=RBSFilestreamProvider FILESTREAMSTORENAME=FilestreamProvider_1 "  with powershell.  And the install log file had the
    erro log"Executing op: ActionStart(Name=FixFilestreamStoreConfig,,)
Información 2769. El instalador ha encontrado un error inesperado. The
error code is 2769. Custom Action CreateFilesNoUI did not close 21 MSIHANDLEs." I'd found some imformation on this website and was told to enable "name pipes". But it doesn't work for me.
Is anyone can help solve this problem? Many thanks!

    Finally,I found the solution.
First make sure you have enable "Name Pipes" , and your sql "RemoteDacEnable" is "TRUE" , then what's the point that when you run command in powershell with"msiexec /qn /lvx* rbs_install_log.txt /i RBS-x64.msi
    TRUSTSERVERCERTIFICATE=true FILEGROUP=PRIMARY DBNAME="WSS_Content" DBINSTANCE="DBInstanceName" FILESTREAMFILEGROUP=RBSFilestreamProvider FILESTREAMSTORENAME=FilestreamProvider_1" , if
your DBINSTANCE is the defult one , then change the name whit "localhost" and not "MSSQLSERVER".
More importantly, if you had something changed , you must uninstall the RBS first then reinstall it .
I'd read a blog that if your rbs_install_log.txt is smaller than 1M ,there must be something wrong to your installation even though  it has logged that your RBS has installed successfully.
    Hope this help. Thanks!

  • Install Problem : Creating/Modifying OS Accounts for J2E

    Hi friends,
I am trying install Sneak Preview SAP Netweaver 2004 Slim Edition. But i gave "Creating/Modifying OS Accounts for J2E" error. I am logging Administrator user of my local machine.
How can I solve my problem?
    Thanks
    Mehmet
P.S. My error message is below :
    ERROR 2006-04-11 11:06:37
    FSL-01002  Unable to create account mehmetavsar\SAPServiceJ2E. HRESULT=0x80005009

Not sure if this will help you out, but I found a few interesting solutions to the issues discussed here.
    1)  Trying to install NWSp16 on my work laptop.
    2)  I initially received a domain/username issue.  <b>Resolution</b> required me to be plugged into the network either locally, or through a VPN (which causes another issue later on).
    3)  Once plugged in locally, the install process validates my username and the group privileges I have.
    4)  Creating/Modifying OS Accounts failed.  <b>Resolution</b> Since I was plugged into my work network, their password policy (when creating users) became necessary.  Meaning, you have to make sure the password you use during the install process for the two users that are created will pass your work's password policy.
Once I corrected the passwords, the install process created the users without any issues.
    Hope this helps.
