this invalid but it canot be cleaned..
Text

The vulnerabilities are only in FlashPlayer 8,0,24,0 and
EARLIER.
Furthermore, the security update you tried to install is only
for FlashPlayer 6 on Win XP SP2, and Win XP x64, nothing else.
Did you try uninstalling the update using the Add and Remove
Programs dialog? Every security update gets added to this list.
If it is not in this list, download the "Windows Installer
Cleanup" -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
- This utility will show you a list of everything that has been
installed using Windows Installer, that still has traces left. You
can use this tool to get rid of that security update, including any
registry entries.
Once removed, do not re-install this update, as it does not
apply to you.
I might recommend reading the security bulletin from
something like this before installing it, to determine if it even
applies to the version of FlashPlayer that you have
installed.

  • N86 update 20.115 problem with films

Yesterday I updated my nokia N86 with the *#0000# > options > check for updates button. Now most of the movies on the devices 8GB flash wont play any more. I got a message that the movie or the sound of the movie can not be played and will try to play partialy. And than I hear the sound but not the movie.
So I didn't do a backup because I have nothing on that device accept for some mp3's and some films, which I also have on my computer.
So I tried to download the original movies from my computer to my Nokia again but still the same error. These files could be played before, even some of the files that were on the device when I bought it, now faile to play. Music works fine, only the images won't play. I tried with real player and with the other application 'videocenter' or something.
    Some more infoon the device:
    Softwareversion: 20.115
    Date softwareversion: 21-09-2009
    (Other longer) version: 20.115.54.1
    (Other longer) version date: 21-09-2009
    Model: N86 8MP
    Type: RM-484
    Last update: 04-10-2009
    Language: 002 - Dutch
I haven't found anything related to this on the web, so maybe it's just my device or the update didn't go as well as I thought it did? I rebooted the device in advance and everything.
If I get something wrong about the exact menu item or wathever, my Nokia is set to Dutch so I translate the menu items to Englisch, and that isn't always an exact science. So I apologize in advance.

Ok, I can't update my OP so I will reply to it.
I found 2 movies that I can play. The onlything that they have in common is that they are both wmv files with the wmv 9 codec according to AVIcodec and are nativ 320x240, the resolution of the phone itself. Other 320x240 films I've tried didn't work and other wmv 9 also didn't work.
On the phone itself the films that won't play are 320x240 and the codec say's X-HX-AVC1 when it won't play and X-HX-WMV when i does play. The ones I tried.

  • Failed to uninstall older version of BEA Tuxedo

I am trying to install an earlier version of BEA Tuxedo (partial license from Peoplesoft Tools). Everytime I attempt to uninstall BEA Tuxedo from control panel, it always comes back with an error message saying "uninstallshield has detected that d:\Bea Systems...libgp.dll is in use"... I've already disabled all services related to bea tuxedo (I think)... restarted the server... and still the error message is still persisting. Appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks!

I don't know which release tuxedo you are using. For Tuxedo 8.0, there is a
bug caused by Windows. You can find the solution from its releasenotes.txt:

  • System Restore problem on Satellite C660-115

    Hello everyone,
The Satellite C660-115 my niece has a problem and I would like to make it serviceable for his Christmas.
Turning on the computer's voltage giving as final result the message: * Can not find the operating system will ", so I tried System Restore by first pressing the 0 key, and after many tests, changing the order of the boot and the other (with F2 or F12) ... But there was nothing.
From there, I realized that I could not go further without original recovery DVD from Toshiba. So I ordered last Saturday and got today Thursday. After as indicated by Toshiba (boot sequence beginning on CD drive), the system begins to upload (Windows is loading files ...) and then propose, on a nice table, the available languages, and choose .. .dropoff window
If, until then, everything seemed to unfold as it should, that's that clicking the "next" button to validate my choice of language an error message appears in a dialog box named RecoGUI:
ERROR:. IOCTL_GET_DISK_LENGTH _INFO \\ \ PHYSICALDRIVE0 The device is not ready.
When I press OK, then it is in French:
The hard disk # 0 is not available or incorrect RAID configuration!
I still presses OK (I do not have much choice) and then present the following window restoration that requires me to validate the language of the operating system to install ... French (Windows Win 7)
and states: The current size of restoration is to: Expert Mode
Again, I click OK and a warning box warns me that: All hard drives will be completely erased. Would you like to continue?
OK ... and cmd prompt appears that says (in short)
Checking for Drive V: V Drive not mounted ...
    Ckecking for Drive C: ... C: unmounted!
ending with: ERROR Copying of Recovery Base files failed!
    Press any key to continue (if I do, I find the Toshiba screen, and another cmd prompt that says so;
Waiting for ODD To Become available ...
    ODD Drive D: ready.
Check for medium in Drive D; ...
    Continue ...
    Drvload: Successfully loaded X: \ Windows \ inf \ battery.inf.
No RAID - Normally continues ...
    Installation in progress ...
Press any key to continue ... which, if I do, then placed below:
    X: \ Windows \ system32>
That's where I stayed, because I always come back to the same.
Could someone be kind enough to help me solve this problem?
A big thank you in advance ...

From my point of few we should consider two possible issues.
    1) faulty image on the new recovery disk
    2) problem with HDD as well as the partitions
In my opinion you should check the HDD firstly.
You can run some tests, for example you could try to install the Windows system using a clean Microsoft Windows CD (image)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit image can be downloaded here:
    http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/msvista/pub/X15-65733/X15-65733.iso
But of course, you will not be able to activate this system without a valid serial key
So you can use this image just for testing purposes.
In case the image installation would run flawlessly, your recovery installation problem might be related to the faulty recovery media.
In such case you should try to contact the recovery media provider in order to get another, new good working media.

  • Re: Satellite C660-115 Very strange Wifi problems!

I've been busy solving a wireless problem on a C660-115, still without success.
    Satellite C660-115
    Windows 7 - 64Bits
    The case:
    - Laptop is connected to the power supply: Wifi works fine, no problems
    - Laptop disconnected from power supply: Wifi won't work, although there sometimes seems to be a connection with the access point/wifi router.
    No internet/network communication
    - Laptop connected to the power supply --> wifi works, unplugging the power supply --> after a 1/2 minute or so, no internet connection...
I tried to find a new driver, but we already use the latest version.
Then i switched off the "This computer may switch of this device to save energy" function, without succes.
    Ideas anyone?

I had same problem with C660 running windows 7 losing internet access but not network connection whilst using battery power, but no problems when connected to mains power.
Solution; Change power plan to high performance. I found this sovlved the problem instantly.

  • I encountered a problem when using Flash Player V9.0.115, can somebody help me?

Hello all, can somebody help me?
I have encountered a problem when using Flash Player
V9.0.115. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
    The problem described as follows:
    1. The flash file with sound works well before uploaded to
website. The audio lost when uploaded to the website(There is no
problem with the flash file size). I have uploaded the flash file
to website for you to test. Please go to
    http://www.sameshow.com/democreator/create
a new site.swf and kindly check with it.
    2. When we open the flash movie in IE with Flash player
V9.0.47 and previous versions (Flash9d.ocx), the flash movie with
    sound works well.
    3. When we upgrade the flash player to the latest version
V9.0.115 (Flash9e.ocx), the video works well, but the sound just
can play several seconds and then stop.
    4. On Flash Player ocx V9.0.115. If we publish the flash
movie on web with 24fps, the sound just can work several seconds
and then stop, the problem is the same if we use the
TShockWaveFlash control to play the flash movie.
    5. On Flash Player ocx V9.0.115. If we publish the flash
movie with 12fps, the sound works well but the quality is really
very poor. It seems that the sound plays shorter with more frames
per second. But the flash file works well with the Flash Player
    V9.0.47 and previous versions (Flash9d.ocx).
Can somebody help me to figure it out? Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Sabrina

  • Video problems after update to 9.0.115 - OSX/FF

I installed the Adobe Media Player 1.0 yesterday, which also
meant updating my version of the Flash Player to 9.0.115. Today I
noticed that (using Firefox) if I try to watch video on YouTube, or
any other embedded flash FLV viewer, the video will buffer and
start to play for about 1 second; then it stops, though the
controls indicate that it's playing. Also, no sound. I can use the
scrub bar (again, YouTube but also other players) to move back and
forth in the buffered video clip, but trying to play again gives
same results: 1 sec playback, then stop, and no sound.
Safari seems to be OK. I am now updating my laptop with the
latest apple updates and will confirm that this problem persists
    afterwards.
    Is anyone else seeing this?
    System info:
Apple MacBook Pro, OS X 10.4.11
    Firefox 2.0.0.13
    Flash Player version 9.0.115

Ran an update to OS X including QuickTime/iTunes and the
latest security update. The Flash video playback issue that I
experienced is no longer a problem. Not sure how those are related,
but I can watch youtube in FF now, so yay.

  • Problems viewing MSNBC Slideshows using IE 7.0 and FP 9.0.115

I installed the latest version of Flash Player on a new
laptop (running WinXP pro, SP2) with Internet Explorer 7.0
(including all updates). The slideshows on MSNBC (msnbc.msn.com -
photos section) will not play. The window opens, but it stays on
picture 1 of the slideshow. You cannot manually advance through the
pictures either by clicking on the picture numbers or arrows. I had
FP 9.0.47 on my computer using IE 7.0 and it worked fine, but then
as a test, I upgraded my computer to FP 9.0.115 and now my computer
cannot view the slideshows. FP works on other sites and slideshows,
just not MSNBC. Anyone else have this issue? I have sent in
requests to MSN tech support, but no response yet. I don't know if
this is an issue with MSNBC's stuff not working with the latest
version or what. I've tried everything I could think of...any
suggestions? Can anyone else duplicate this issue?
    Thanks!
    Sara

Flash Player for IE is integrated by Microsoft with Windows 8 and 8.1 only... IE11 is a "rolling train wreck", though. Almost NOTHING on the web can properly identify it if it can be identified at all.  As long as your current Flash Player is working, I'd "let a sleeping dog lie". Until you NEED to update it, don't with IE11.
With WIn 8.1 it's the worst combination in all computing history. Be glad you still have 7.

  • Problem seeking video in flash player 9,0,115,0

    Hi all,
I had a flash app that loads and plays an FLV, when it
reaches the end it seeks to a point in the middle of the video and
loops that. This had been working fine for ages, but now with the
latest flash player update, there is a bug in the seek. Sometimes
(and only sometimes), when it seeks the video display is all
garbled, its as if it isn't seeking to a keyframe. But the point I
am seeking to does have a keyframe (in fact it has a navigation
    cuepoint).
The project is AS2 published for flash player 8 and I'm
testing locally. I am not using a component, just simple straight
forward video, netconnection, netstream etc. I'm using the
NET_STATUS event to check the video finishing, and using seek(10)
to seek to second 10 (where I have a navigation cuepoint).
Any ideas why this is happening? With the previous flash
player, trying to seek to a point which doesnt have a keyframe
results in seeking to the nearest keyframe. Now it seems the player
doesn't always seek to the point I want to, even if there is a
keyframe there, and seeks to a point just after the
    keyframe!!

No dude, i don't think so it is an appropriate link for your right solution.
please keep your patience i am sure you will get a positive reply because this is the most helpful forums.
    Wish you all the best.

How did you calculated all these ratios............I looked through the formatted output of the Statspack report, specifically the setion "SQL ordered by reads for DB" and found these SQL statements which are performing a large number of physical reads. Most of the SQL statements have similar WHERE clauses, except for the constants to the right of the = :

i also wanted to learn how to read the
statspack.........I personally do not like Statspack reports, but there are several very good sources for understanding Statspack reports:

  • Restart problems

    Hi
After a restart the Mac would not start, I got the bong but then only half of my USBs lit and the caps lock was lit and I only got a gray screen. I forced closed down and restarted but got he same, I did this once more but then had to unplug leave for half an hour then started the Mac again but had to do it once more before it started. I have noticed that I have only had this problem after updating to 10.5.8 When after updating it asked me to restart the same things happened, so it seems to be a problem with 10.5.8 or restarting.
Here is a log from the Console I hope it helps -

  • SAP BW upgrade problem in phase lang_select

    Hello everybody,
during our upgrade from SAP BW 3.0B to 3.5 a problem occurred in the phase “lang_select” running PREPARE. Unfortunately we did not find any up-to-date SAP note on this, except  in the note (212481), where the symptom is descried quite well, but the solution does not fit. By the way, the folder-names are already in upper-case (a different note told to do so). So I would be glad if anybody who does have any experience with upgrading from 3.0B could take a look at our problem as described below.
<u>First of all our system information:</u>
    SAP Kernel 640 PL 115
    OS: IBM AIX 5.2.0
    DB: DB2 V8 FP 10
actual release of SAP BW: 3.0B
target release of SAP BW: 3.5 SR1
    R3trans: 6.13 (release 640)
    Tp: 340.16.12 (release 640)
    <u>Problem: PREPARE, phase lang_select</u>

The following language(s) could not be updated yet:
    - German       for component PI_BASIS
    - German       for component SAP_ABA
    - German       for component SAP_BASIS
    - German       for component SAP_BW
    - English      for component PI_BASIS
    - English      for component SAP_ABA
    - English      for component SAP_BASIS
    - English      for component SAP_BW
Please mount another Language Disk for these language(s).
You need at least CDs which satisfy the vector "DE"
    (standard languages) for all components.
It is not allowed to omit this update.
<u>What we did until the message comes up:</u>
    - all by SAP recommended preparations on the OS, the DB and SAP BW 3.0B have been successfully implemented (as described in Component Upgrade Guide SAP BW 3.5 SR1)
    - we copied all the data from CD/DVD into directories on the server
    - we copied the fix FIX_WEBAS640SR1.SAR into “/usr/sap/put/”, which is required by PREPARE later on (SAP note 663240)
    - start of PREPARE on the command-line (the directory “/usr/sap/put/” is now filled with files and subdirectories are created)
    - overwriting R3trans and Tp with the newest versions (as mentioned at the beginning)
    - executing UaServer on the AIX, accessing the tool via web browser from a client
    - in the applet we start PREPARE
    - making entries for PREPARE
    - lang_select
We did also examine the logs, here is what they say:

Well, we actually do not know what the problem is. It seems to us that the program is not able to identify the language source files. The point is why did the source-paths for the other data work, as we copied the CD/DVD-data into folders? What is different with the language-CD?
Thanks a lot for your help,
    Peter

I had the same problem but for upgrading SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 3.2 to 4.0 in the PREPARE PHASE "LANG_SELECT"
In the PEVALLAN.<SAPSID> ,I realized that the path for the required DVD I entered was too long !!
    My real path was "C:\SAP_CDS\Upgrade_SOL4\51031485\51031485_1\SAP_CRM_LNG"
and the PEVALLAN FILE in the IV_LANGDIR parameter it was
    ""C:\SAP_CDS\Upgrade_SOL4\51031485\51031485_1\SAP_CR"
I've just shortened the path and it works now.
This surprised me because from the beginning of the PREPARE phase, I had no problems with that kind of thing.

  • Urgant problem for the updating problem  HELP

Dear sir/miss,On 2008.12.01 one of our partner company consultant, setup an update(SAPKH50016 AND SAPKH50017) page on our production system without and test in the test system.
Now our transaction code CV03N,CV02N,CV01N can not be used, jump out abap problems as below:
It's already give us very big impact to our SAP system,so please tell me how to deal with it.
    "Runtime Errors MOVE_CAST_ERROR
    Exceptn CX_SY_MOVE_CAST_ERROR
    Date and Time 2008.12.02 08:23:43
    ShrtText
A dynamic type conflict occurred during reference assignment.
    What happened?
    Error in ABAP application program.
The current ABAP program "CL_EX_DOCUMENT_MAIN02=========CP" had to be
    terminated because one of the
    statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
    What can you do?
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
    error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
    date.
is especially useful if you want to keep a particular message.
    Error analysis
An exception occurred. This exception is dealt with in more detail below
. The exception, which is assigned to the class 'CX_SY_MOVE_CAST_ERROR', wa
    neither
caught nor passed along using a RAISING clause, in the procedure
    "IF_EX_DOCUMENT_MAIN02~D100_BEFORE_PAI" "(METHOD)"
Since the caller of the procedure could not have expected this exception
to occur, the running program was terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
A 'CAST' operation ('?=' or 'MOVE ?TO') tried to assign an object or
interface variable to a reference variable.
However, the contents of the source variable do not fit in the target.
    Source type. "\CLASS=ZCL_IM_DOCUMENT_MAIN02"
    Target type: "\INTERFACE=IF_EX_DOCUMENT_MAIN02"
    How to correct the error
If the error occurred in one of your own programs or in an SAP program
that you modified, try to correct it yourself.
You may able to find an interim solution to the problem
in the SAP note system. If you have access to the note system yourself,
    use the following search criteria:
    "MOVE_CAST_ERROR" CX_SY_MOVE_CAST_ERRORC
    "CL_EX_DOCUMENT_MAIN02=========CP" or "CL_EX_DOCUMENT_MAIN02=========CM007"
    "IF_EX_DOCUMENT_MAIN02~D100_BEFORE_PAI"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and you wish to send
an error message to SAP, include the following documents:
    1. A printout of the problem description (short dump)
To obtain this, select in the current display "System->List->
    Save->Local File (unconverted)".
    2. A suitable printout of the system log
To obtain this, call the system log through transaction SM21.
Limit the time interval to 10 minutes before and 5 minutes
after the short dump. In the display, then select the function
    "System->List->Save->Local File (unconverted)".
    3. If the programs are your own programs or modified SAP programs,
    supply the source code.
To do this, select the Editor function "Further Utilities->
    Upload/Download->Download".
    4. Details regarding the conditions under which the error occurred
or which actions and input led to the error.
The exception must either be prevented, caught within the procedure
    "IF_EX_DOCUMENT_MAIN02~D100_BEFORE_PAI"
"(METHOD)", or declared in the procedure's RAISING clause.
To prevent the exception, note the following:

  • Problems with explain plan and statement

    Hi community,
I have migrated a j2ee application from DB2 to Oracle.
First some facts of our application and database instance:
We are using oracle version 10.2.0.3 and driver version 10.2.0.3. It runs with charset Unicode 3.0 UTF-8.
Our application is using Tomcat as web container and jboss as application server. We are only using prepared statements. So if I talk about statements I always mean prepared statements. Also our application is setting the defaultNChar property to true because every char and varchar field has been created as an nchar and nvarchar.
We have some jsp sites that contains lists with search forms. Everytime I enter a value to the form that returns a filled resultset, the lists are performing great. But everytime I enter a value that returns an empty resultset, the lists are 100 times slower. The jsp sites are running in the tomcat environment and submitting their statements directly to the database. The connections are pooled by dbcp. So what can cause this behaviour??
To anaylze this problem I started logging all statements and filled-in search field values and combinations that are executed by the lists described above. I also developed a standalone helper tool that reads the logged statements, executes them to the database and generates an explain plan for every statement. But now there appears a strange situation. Every statement, that performs really fast within our application, is now executed by the helper tool extremely slow. So I edited some jsp pages within our application to force an explain plan from there (tomcat env). So when I'm executing the same statement I'm getting with the exactly same code two completely different explain plans.
    First the statement itself:
    select LINVIN.BBASE , INVINNUM , INVINNUMALT , LINVIN.LSUPPLIERNUM , LSUPPLIERNUMEXT , LINVIN.COMPANYCODE , ACCOUNT , INVINTXT , INVINSTS , INVINTYP , INVINDAT , RECEIPTDAT , POSTED , POSTINGDATE , CHECKCOSTCENTER , WORKFLOWIDEXT , INVINREFERENCE , RESPONSIBLEPERS , INVINSUM_V , INVINSUMGROSS_V , VOUCHERNUM , HASPOSITIONS , PROCESSINSTANCEID , FCURISO_V , LSUPPLIER.AADDRLINE1 from LINVIN, LSUPPLIER where LINVIN.BBASE = LSUPPLIER.BBASE and LINVIN.LSUPPLIERNUM = LSUPPLIER.LSUPPLIERNUM and LINVIN.BBASE = ? order by LINVIN.BBASE, INVINDAT DESC
Now the explain plan from our application:
    | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time |
    | 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 101 | 28583 | 55 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    | 1 | NESTED LOOPS | | 101 | 28583 | 55 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    | 2 | TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| LINVIN | 93709 | 12M| 25 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    |* 3 | INDEX RANGE SCAN | LINV_INVDAT | 101 | | 1 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    | 4 | TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| LSUPPLIER | 1 | 148 | 1 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    |* 5 | INDEX UNIQUE SCAN | PK_177597 | 1 | | 1 (0)| 00:00:01 |
Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
    3 - access("LINVIN"."BBASE"=:1)
    filter("LINVIN"."BBASE"=:1)
    5 - access("LSUPPLIER"."BBASE"=:1 AND "LINVIN"."LSUPPLIERNUM"="LSUPPLIER"."LSUPPLIERNUM")
Now the one from the standalone tool:
    | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes |TempSpc| Cost (%CPU)| Time |
    | 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 93773 | 25M| | 12898 (1)| 00:02:35 |
    | 1 | SORT ORDER BY | | 93773 | 25M| 61M| 12898 (1)| 00:02:35 |
    |* 2 | HASH JOIN | | 93773 | 25M| 2592K| 7185 (1)| 00:01:27 |
    | 3 | TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| LSUPPLIER | 16540 | 2390K| | 332 (0)| 00:00:04 |
    |* 4 | INDEX RANGE SCAN | LSUPPLIER_HAS_BASE_FK | 16540 | | | 11 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    | 5 | TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| LINVIN | 93709 | 12M| | 6073 (1)| 00:01:13 |
    |* 6 | INDEX RANGE SCAN | LINVOICE_BMDT_FK | 93709 | | | 84 (2)| 00:00:02 |
Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
    2 - access("LINVIN"."BBASE"="LSUPPLIER"."BBASE" AND "LINVIN"."LSUPPLIERNUM"="LSUPPLIER"."LSUPPLIERNUM")
    4 - access("LSUPPLIER"."BBASE"=:1)
    6 - access("LINVIN"."BBASE"=:1)
The size of the tables are: LINVIN - 383.692 Rows, LSUPPLIER - 115.782 Rows
As you can see the one executed from our application is much faster than the one from the helper tool. So why picks oracle a completely different explain plan for the same statement? An why is a hash join much slower than a nested loop? Because If I'm right a nested loop should only be used when the tables are pretty small..
I also tried to play with some parameters:
    I set optimizer_index_caching to 100 and optimizer_index_cost_adj to 30. I also changed optimizer_mode to FIRST_ROWS_100.
I would really appreciated, if somebody can help me with this issue, because I'm really getting more and more distressed...
    Thanks in advance,
    Tobias

    Hi again,
    Here ist the answer:
The problem, because I got two different explain plans, was that the external tool uses the NLS sesssion parameters coming from the OS which are in my case "de/DE".
Within our application these parameters are changed to "en/US"!! So if I'm calling in my external tool the java function Locale.setDefault(new Locale("en","US")) before connecting to the database the explain plans are finally equal. That might explain why you got two different execution plan, because one plan was obviously able to avoid a SORT ORDER BY operation, whereas the second plan required to run SORT ORDER BY operation, obviously because of the different NLS_SORT settings. An index by default uses the NLS_SORT = 'binary' order whereas ORDER BY obeys the NLS_SORT setting, which probably was set to 'GERMAN' in your "external tool" case. You can check the "NLS_SESSION_PARAMETERS" view to check your current NLS_SORT setting.
For more information regarding this issue, see my blog note I've written about this some time ago:
    http://oracle-randolf.blogspot.com/2008/09/getting-first-rows-of-large-sorted.html
Now let me make a guess why you observe the behaviour that it takes so long if your result set is empty:
The plan avoiding the SORT ORDER BY is able to return the first rows of the result set very quickly, but could take quite a while until all rows are processed, since it requires potentially a lot of iterations of the loop until everything has been processed. Your front end probably by default only display the first n rows of the result set and therefore works fine with this execution plan.
Now if the result set is empty, depending on your data, indexes and search criteria, Oracle has to work through all the data using the inefficient NESTED LOOP approach only to find out that no data has been found, and since your application attempts to fetch the first n records, but no records will be found, it has to wait until all data has been processed.
You can try to reproduce this by deliberately fetching all records of a query that returns data and that uses the NESTED LOOP approach... It probably takes as long as in the case when no records are found.
Note that you seem to use bind variables and 10g, therefore you might be interested that due to the "bind variable peeking" functionality you might potentially end up with "unstable" plans depending on the values "peeked" when the statement is parsed.
For more information, see this comprehensive description of the issue:
    http://www.pythian.com/blogs/867/stabilize-oracle-10gs-bind-peeking-behaviour-by-cutting-histograms
Note that this changes in 11g with the introduction of the "Adaptive Cursor Sharing".

  • Problems installing Adobe Air and BBC iPlayer Desktop

Problems installing Adobe Air and BBC iPlayer Desktop
I'm running Windows 7 32 bit on an ASUS netbook with 2mb ram. I installed both  Air 3.7 and BBC iPlayer Desktop using Google Chrome. I downloaded 3 BBC programmes. Two ran fine but the third wouldn't start and I kept getting a message to try again later. I deleted this programme and downloaded it again, with the same result.
So I uninstalled both Air and the BBC iPlayer Desktop, the Air exe file and the two folders at the following locations:
    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\   and
    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\BBCiPlayerDesktop.xxx
Since doing this each time I try to install Air either on its own or with the BBC iPlayer software I get the message part way through installation:
    "Sorry, an error has occurred.
An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
I have run the Microsoft Fix it programme and still get the same result.
I have tried everything on your Trouble Shooting page apart from the bit about the elevated command prompt, but as I'm the sole user and administrator, that seems unnecessary.
I have closed Chrome and tried installation using Windows Explorer but with the same result.
I have tried all the above with Microsoft Security Essentials running and disabled. And I have tried the same with Astrill on and off.
I have had a response from the BBC with much the same advice as appears on your trouble shooting page.
Here is the Air installation log, followed by the MSI log.
