945GCM5-F V2 Load BIOS Defaults?

Hi,
Used 2 of these 945GCM5-F V2 in new system builds. They have both been fine for a week or so but recently both of them stopped at the Post BIOS screen and asked to Load BIOS defaults or enter BIOS to enter settings?
I'd already set the BIOS up according to requirements when they were built so why would both of the stop and get me to re-input this information - why did it lose the settings?

Could be many reasons.  It is hard to guess, especially without knowing your system specs.  Please provide a list of components used in your two builds. Read the >>Posting Guide<< to get an idea of what we need to know.

  • X40 POP/SVP problem after loading bios defaults

    Hello
I have recently bought a second hand IBM X40 (2372-PG2) laptop in good condition and have worked with it happily until a couple of days ago. I booted to an existing installation of WXP and proceeded on to update the Embedded Controller Program and BIOS and then install Arch Linux.
I had disabled some features I don't use in the BIOS such as bluetooth and set a power-on password and a supervisor password. The passwords for both are exactly the same, containing upper & lowercase letters and numbers and being 8 characters long.
I then went on to set BIOS to default settings by using the F9-key on the BIOS menu, rebooted and haven't been able to boot or enter BIOS again as the password is not accepted.
I have done some research on the subject and haven't yet seen a similar thing happen to anyone - however, i did find this recent thread which deals with the same problem but with the HDP (Hard Disk Password).
All input is appreciated. To me this appears to be a rare bug.
edit: is it possible that this is a "custom" laptop made for a company that has certain default passwords?

    Hello and welcome,
What error, exactly?  What operating system?   Is it a Lenovo install or from Microsoft media?
Total WAG: you need to go back to BIOS and set the SATA mode to "compatibility" or "IDE emulation" or whatever it's called in that machine's BIOS.

  • How to load a default page in web based application ?

    Hi
I am new to j2ee , I have an application in which , when i start the application , login.html should be open by default .
One way i found is that put the page name in <welcome-file> tag inside web.xml.
My question is that there any other way like calling the dafault servlet or something else by which we can load the default page ?
Any kind of help would be great.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi Rastogha,
that sounds (to me) like the right way to do this. I suppose another way would be to have index.html redirect using a meta tag, but that's a little messy IMHO.

  • Loading a default value to a text  field

    Hi All...
I  have some input fields say account no.. , i want that these input fields should be loaded with default values. How can i specify default values to these input fields.
    Plz help...

    hi bichoo..
all your input fields would be bound to different attributes..... for every attribute you have an option called default value... in the context... you can make use of that...
                   or
in the wddoinit method, you  can pass teh values to these attributes dynamically using set_attribute method.

  • How to make Mac load as default instead of Windows

When I reboot my computer, if I'm not watching carefully, my Windows partition will attempt to load XP. How can I make it so the Mac loads by default?
    Thanks!

Use the Startup Disk control panel (Boot Camp control panel in XP).
You should have inserted and installed the Mac OS X DVD while in Windows and run Apple Setup.exe.

  • Black screen and not load bios

I have same problem. Laptop start up battery and charger light are running. HDD and processor sound is hearing. But laptop not load bios and display black screen.
Laptop was running awsome but this problem is found when i try to install new hardware PCI Express Mini Card for wireless WAN. Before installing this hardware I go through bios and enable all radio devices. And than in display option I switch to internal card intead 0f switchable option. Then there is some fn setting in bios that I have enabled. After it I have restrat my laptop then it goes to black screen.. I've tried many tricks as mentioned above but problem is still there.
    Plz someone help me
    I will be very thankfull
    Thanks

It sounds to me like the GPU is bad. Since you cant get RGB out to an external monitor.
Although Ive not heard of bad 9600m gt  chipsets recently.
I have one in my machine as well and its almost two years old.
I have noticed that my GPU runs around 120 F most of the time. Not knowing if thats high but I wouldnt think so.
Just a thought, but have you tried pulling the battery for about 5 minutes. While its out, push the power button for a few seconds and then re-install battery. This may not do anything to help but I know on some devices thats a good way to get a clean re-start and clear memory completly. It certainly wont hurt anything to try.
If your machine was in deep sleep and just by chance fouled up, This procedure will clear the RAM!

  • S10 Loads Bios then Stops, have to Hit Any Key to Load Windows XP

I have a Lenovo S10, after powering on, the just loads the bios screen of LENOVO.  With the F2 & F12 at the bottom of the screen.  If you press F2 to setup & F12 to Boot Menu, it will do so.
When you press other keys, it will then load windows xp.
In the Boot Order, I already put the HDD on top (the first) but you have to hit any key for Windows to load.
    Why?
Also, flashed the bios to version 14CN94WW.  But did not help.
    Suggestions?  Assistance?

Hi and welcome to lenovo forum,
to exclude BIOS ... go in BIOS and press F9 to setup defaults....
set in Config page quickstart disabled and Beep disabled
     F10 and exit
unplug PSU and Battery press 30seconds switch On Button ...
Then plug PSU and Battery in ... press Switch On ... if this wait behavior is gone...OK if not ... it could something to do with harddrive ... easy if you have another harddrive to check this , if not save your data and work on other media and recover to factory condition...
overal there is no wait for key in BIOS should boot straight forward into OS without that press any key ...

  • LENOVO G400 TURN OFF AUTOMATICALLY AND NOT LOAD BIOS SETUP

i have a lenovo g400, once i turn on it only the lenovo name appears in the screen and then it turn off automatically and then turn on and turn off again and so on... also I was having problem that my Lenovo G400 laptop did not display Press F2 to Enter Setup during the boot process, and because of this, no amount of hammering the F2 button would allow access to the BIOS.  I attempted all of the standard fixes, pulled the battery, held power down for 30 seconds, removed the HDD -- nothing would cause this to appear. i dont know whats the problem of my laptop..please help me to fix it..

    hi PRAY2431,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Can you try to access the BIOS by pressing the OneKey Recovery button.
     - Link to picture
If you manage toget in, try prssing F9 to reload factory defaults then press F10 to save and exit (this should reset the hardware configuration of the machine).
If you still can't get into the BIOS and the machine still turns off after POST (lenovo screen) then there's likely a hardware component that's failing. If you have a spare PC, try to create a Lenovo Bootable USB Diagnostics and boot from it by pressing F12.
Alternatively, you can contact Lenovo (for service) or contact one of the Lenovo Authorized Service centers below
    Service Provider List (Philippines)

  • How to load bios screen at startup?

I'm trying to access the bios screen at startup. This computer has the Mac side and a Windows PC side. I want to open the bios screen in the Windows PC side (if this makes a difference) so that I can change the booting options. Can someone please help!?

iMacs and other computers from Apple do NOT contain a BIOS like Windows machines.  They use EFI in place of the BIOS and it is not user accessible.  To select which OS you boot into you need to hold down the "Command" and "R" keys while starting up and this will then load the OS selection screen.
    Hope this helps

  • Make startup manager load by default on startup (rather than option key)

I have a macbook pro 13' (late 2010 version) i am running Lion and i have windows 7 proffesional using boot camp.
When i boot up my mac it loads Lion by default.
I understand that to switch between the two i have to hold the option key on startup, i am then prompted for my password, and after entering it i get to the startup manager which displays the startup disks available.
I would like to know if there is a way of getting my mac to run the startup manager (with password) by default when i boot it, rather than choose one of the installed os.
    Thanks in advance.
    Gaz

No. However, you can install a third-party bootloader if you're willing to try it: rEFIt.
If  you do this then you need to know that Boot Camp Assistant will no longer be able to manage the Windows partition.

  • How to load/refresh default preference plists

    Hi guys,
I am facing the following problem at the moment: we got a couple iMac clients in a computer pool bound to an AD, which as a default disables the secondary mouse button on the AD user's account on first login.
So I came up with the idea of running a script on startup which basically runs the terminal command
    defaults write com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse Button2 -int 2
which works fine, but sadly it only takes effect after the next login. What it does is essentially manipulating the file com.apple.driver:AppleHIDMouse.plist in the user's Library/Preferences/ directory.
So I'm trying to figure out now how to reload this plist file to have it's changes take effect right away. Unfortunately the mechanics of these preference plists are not well documented.
Does anyone know how I can make the system reload defaults/preferences from this file?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jo
