975x PUE issues with memory

Hi guys,
I have my old 975x running with no problems with 2GB OCZ since a really long time, everything worked smoothly and i never did any OC of any type in the board.
But nowdays 2GB is really few to keep the system and games running with no issues so i decided to upgrade to 4GB, i bought 2 Kingston modules (more precisely this ones -> http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/PartsInfo_ar.asp?root=latam&LinkBack=http://www.kingston.com/LatAm&ktcpartno=KVR800D2N6/2G,  but i have encountered problems.
The issue is that when i put the memory the BIOS shows in post 3669952K of memory, witch is roughly 3,5GB, from what i read in several threads about i take that it is a memmory allocation issue that should solve itself once a x64 OS is installed.
But the problem is that when this 4GB modules are installed the board hangs and i cant even run a install of any OS, basically the BIOS posts, i get the "updating DMI pool data..... sucess" then "press any key to boot from CD" and then just a black screen and nothing happens, when i remove one of the modules everything starts to run fine again.
Things i tried:
- Both modules running alone in case one of the modules is broken, both works ok as long as they are alone.
- Another 2x2GB modules (OCZ), same results
- yet another 2x2GB modules (8GB total filling up all slots), and shows 7,5GB and it keeps crashing.
- Every variable in witch i can put 2 modules in the 4 slots.
- Load bios Fail-Safe config, same results
- Load bios Optimized setup, sme results.
I have the 7.1 BIOS version witch from MSI changelog i understand that it should work fine, still, im thinking about upgrading to BIOS 7.9 but i dont know quite how and wanted to ask first if it will solve anything cus i dont want to take the risk if no change would come.
What could this be?
Thanks a lot.
edit:
Here are some caps of the BIOS information tab
and another on post.

Hi jack,
thanks for the reply, i've tried the clear CMOS but none of the 2 methods apply to this MB so this is what i did:
1.- Unplugged power cord and waited about a minute
2.- Press the clear CMOS button SW on the MB, and waited about one minute
3.- Press the power button to be sure as it says on the guide, and waited about one minute
4.- Power on the system.
and this is the other thing i tried.
1.- Unplugged power cord and waited about a minute
2.- Removed the battery and waited about a minute
3.- Press the clear CMOS button SW on the MB and waited about a minute
4.- Reinserted battery
5.- Power on
and then
1.- Unplugged power cord and waited about a minute
2.- Removed the battery and waited about a minute
3.- Reinserted battery
4.- Press the clear CMOS button SW on the MB and waited about a minute
5.- Power on
Same results =(
I tried with 1 or 2 memory modules and the same thing keeps happening, here's a cap of the screen where it gets stucked.
What's with the 1024k OK memory testing? it keeps saying that either i put 1GB or 2GB memory.

  • Issue with memory when trying to do a restore on iPad 2

I'm had a few issues with my iPad and am trying to do a restore, I start OK but then after a while I get a "can not be restore. The disk you are attempting to use is full" the PC I am using does not have a large C drive and space is limited but I do have a large external drive attached with loads of space.  Is there any method of using the external hard drive when restoring?
I hope this makes sence, iPad now been down for over a week and issues getting me down.

The restore must be done within iTunes on your PC while iTunes is running so - No - you cannot restore using the external drive. You might try moving some of the stuff on your C drive to the external drive to free up space and then restore your iPad.

  • Solaris 10 issue with Memory 1GB on Intel 855GME

With 2GB memory installed on an Intel 855GME based Single Board Computer, we are experiencing extremely slow boots and installs with Solaris 10 (03/05). The boards boot on the order of 25-35 minutes. They are slow during the "configuring devices" phase. After the systems boot they seem fine. An install of Solaris 10 disk 1 takes approximately 2 1/2 hours with 2GB memory installed.
We have tested with 512 MB or 1GB SODIMMs installed and have no issues on several boards. We are trying to integrate the 2GB memory parts. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Here is updated information on this 2GB/855GME issue. Any assistance, solution, or insight is very much appreciated.
We are seeing orders of magnitude (30x) increase in access time in a segment at the top of memory when the memory installed is 2 Gigabytes and booting the Solaris operating system. This segment starts at 0x3E000000 (physical - 32 megabytes from the top) up to the 8 Megabytes 'stolen' by the video (or 24 megabytes). The huge increase in Solaris boot time is because (according to our Sun technical contact) Solaris allocates memory from the top down which means its using the slow memory to boot. The symptoms change if the Internal Graphics Device (IGD) is disabled and a PCI video card is used, OR, if the IGD is set to 'steal' all 32 Megabytes available thus consuming the 'slow memory' area.
We have opened an Intel Quad issue outlining the symptoms above (see Quad text below). They suspect MTRR setup in 'anticipation' of IGD use of the memory. However, dumps of the MTRR's via emulator both with and without the IGD are the same.
Note: other model specific registers, such as the BBL_CR_Dx registers are different with/without IGD, but as they are for accessing L2 cache, don't appear to be pertinent to this problem. This opinion could change with more study.

  • Issue with memory for java fx 1.3

    Dear all,
I need your help for an issue.
I developed a java fx application with version 1.3 and I 've now a big issue...during use memory grows until application crashes...
Is there a way to release memory during use..i read about problem with java fx release of memory...my application is almost not usable and I can't upgrade it to 2.0.
Can you give me some help?
I run it in this way
    javafx -classpath xxxx.jar x2.Main
is there some option to optimize it? To increase memory for jvm?
Please help me, after about 30minutes application grows to 500MB of memory and crashes for memory leak...
    Thanks

    Hi,
About what kind of bounds are you talking about?
Do you want to accomplish to print out X,Y coordinates of that custom Node/Shape?
Read this it helped me a lot

  • Issue with Memory ID export / import

    Hi Experts,
We are facing strange issue during export/import from memory ID.
We are exporting value to Memory ID from module pool program and trying to import same value in SAP workflow method.
While importing the value from memory ID it is failing to import and gives sy-subrc =4.
Any idea how can we do export/import in module pool program to Workflow method?
    Regards,
    Sanjana

    Hi sanjana,
Please check the link. Here you can find some examples also.

    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/fc/eb3bf8358411d1829f0000e829fbfe/content.htm
You just need to create a key and an ID to save data into INDX table.Once its saved you can use same key and id to import .
Again mentioning , dont forget to delete using same key and ID once you have imported else it may give error.

  • Call function starting new task - Issue with memory variables

    Hi All,
From our OIL application we have a call to the core delivery update FM WS_DELIVERY_UPDATE starting new task. Before the call we are exporting a variable to memory and deep inside the FM we have an oil routine which checks the value of this variable to decide on further flow. But since the FM is called in new task the variable is not available here.
We cannot use the SET GET parameter also as this value can be different for each session.
Can anyone suggest how to set and get the parameter value in this flow.
    With regards,
    Usha

    Hi again,
To check whether the FM is running in new task or not - This is what I have tried (this may not be the best way), but it works fine.
    1. The variable to check inside the called FM is SY-CPROG.
    2. This variable will have value.
    RS_TESTFRAME_CALL - If being checked from se37
    Z / Y program                - if called from the original z / y program (WITHOUT new task).
SAPMSSY1  - if being called using NEW TASK (and no debugging)
    hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Amit Mittal.

  • Strange issue with memory module in Sat Pro 4300 series

I have a notebook Toshiba satellite pro 4300 series with 64MB Onboard + 64MB Module and I want to upgrade my memory to 320MB. I bought two ram of 128MB each. I removed the 64MB module and I put in the Slot (A) one of 128MB module but I saw that the total memory is of 128MB again.
I removed the module again and I put the second module into Slot (A) but I saw that the total memory is of 128MB again. After this I put the two modules into my notebook (Slot A and Slot B) but I see that the total memory is of 192MB.This means that it recognizes each module as 64MB and not as 128MB. Dose anybody know why this happens?
And what do I have to do to fix it?
    Thanks.
    [email protected]

This would be correct if the modules where indeed 64MB. The mother board has 64MB of memory already fitted directly to it so if you leave out the expansion modules the system still see 64MB. By fitted any one of the modules you have will add another 64MB making 128MB and so by fitting the second module will thus give you 192MB which is exactly what you getting.
Therefore you have almost certainly been sold the incorrect modules, 64MB instead of the 128MB modules.

  • One year later, I still have problems with the 975X PUE

A year ago, I bought the 975X PUE board and turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made when purchasing something computer-related.
To start with, the board didn't recognize the OCZ memory that I had bought, so I had to change it for some gSkill memory.  That, however, involved a trip to Argentina since at the time it was very hard to get DDR2 memory @ 800 Mhz here in Uruguay.  I had also complained about how the temperature monitor was unreliable and problems booting the computer.
I still have those problems, but I learned to live with it since no major problems arised.  Sure, I'd have to boot three to six times just to get it running, but hey, no big deal.
Later, I decided to go for RAID1 and surprisingly, it worked so I had no new complaints.
However, lately something new has been happening.  The computer seems to reboot randomly and without warning.  This had happened before when lightning struck nearby (I blamed it on electro magnetic something) but now it happens all the time and I can't find a solution.  I leave the computer on during the night and in the mornings, I come to find that it has rebooted when I was sleeping.
    Here's what I have:
    MSI 975X PUE (7.1083006)
    INTEL E6600
    GSKILL 4 GB DDR2 800 Mhz RAM
    WD 320 GB 7200 RPM
    2x WD 500 GB 7200 RPM (RAID1)
    NVIDIA 8800 GTS
    Windows Vista 32 bit
    PSU Biswal 780W 30A +12V
I've looked over the latest firmware thread that used to be a sticky on here and noticed that everything else seems to be beta.  MSI never released something better for this board?  Here's that thread: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=99818.0
The only thing that I could think of for these random reboots is that maybe the unreliable temperature sensors fool the computer and make it seem like the CPU is a lot hotter than it actually is.  I've fired up Everest and right now, with only Firefox and a couple of IM clients running, CPUs are at 50 and 54 degrees celcius.  Taking into account that the case is open and I'm in an air conditioned room set to 24 degrees celcius and that there's a mini Typhoon on top of the E6600 as well as a couple of fans in the case, these CPU temperatures are nearly impossible.
What's going on with this?  Can anyone help me out?

Ok, lets say my PSU is degraded. That solves my spontaneous rebooting issue.  How about everything else?
I still have to boot my PC 3-6 times to get it to start.  Temperature monitor still sucks as well.
Is 7.1 the latest official firmware for this high-priced mobo?
Daiver the biswall brand is a very cheap one, I think you should buy a trusted PSU. In Argentina you can find many brands, like Topower and Power Cooler, that are good PSUs and at a fair price.
The latest bios for this mother is 7.7, but some users find it not so good as 7.6. I use 7.6 and works perfect.

i have tried to delete / reinstall the app, but this does not change anything...
    Any help ?

    I have a MSI 975X Platinum rev 2 mb with a e6300 processor overclocked to 2.24ghz.
If your CPU operates @2.24 GHz, it means that you increased FSB frequency to about 348 MHz.
To make sure there is no misunderstanding here, let me point out the following:
Memory frequency is ALWAYS linked to FSB frequency by the FSB/DRAM Ratio you can select in BIOS.  If you select 1:1 for example, the BIOS will show that memory frequency is 533 MHz. This value however, only applies to the default FSB clock speed of 266 MHz:
    266 MHz x 1 = 266 MHz (or 533 MHz effective DDR2-frequency).
If your system is overclocked, what counts is only FSB/DRAM ratio, not the memory speed displayed in BIOS.  That means, if you set FSB/DRAM ration to 1:1 and FSB frequency to 348 MHz, your RAM will operate @:
    348 MHz x 1 = 348 MHz (or 696 MHz effective DDR2-frequency).
    The main question is:
What are you talking about when you say, you can't make your RAM operate @800 MHz?
The BIOS does not offer a proper divider to get your RAM to 800 MHz @348 FSB clock speed to begin with.
You have the following choices if your overclock your system:
    FSB=300 + FSB/DRAM ratio = 1.33
    300 MHz x 1.33 ~ 400 MHz (or 800 MHz effective DDR2-frequency)
    FSB=320 MHz + FSB/DRAM ratio = 1:1.25
    320 MHz x 1.25 = 400 MHz (or 800 MHz effective DDR2-frequency)
    FSB=400 MHz + FSB/DRAM ratio = 1:1
    400 MHz x 1 = 400 MHz (or 800 MHz effective DDR2-frequency)
Use CPU-Z to monitor the DRAM frequency that is actually set if you are overclocking.

  • 975X PUE / Recommended TwinDDR2 800 Memory??

I have ready access to Kingston, Corsair and OCX twin 1GB bars.
Recommendations for fast and stable system would be highly appreciated.
I have read a lot on this forum the past few days and seems there are some touchy issues with the memory.
My first set of Corsair 6400C4Ds I may have returned too quickly but one of the two twin bars would not boot as it arrived.
But I had not changed any voltages or run MEMTEST+ regretably.  In too much of a hurry to make it work I guess.
Now I would like to change this dealer-loaned 1GB 667 single OEM bar for some great higher speed memory.
    Thanks for recommendations.

  • 975x PUE - High DPC cpu% with 5.1 enabled

    Hello,
I seem to be having an issue with Deferred Procedure Calls.  While running Process Explorer I see DPC usage between 10%-15% with 5.1 audio enabled.  If I select 2ch audio DPC usage drops to <1.  I've updated drivers (MSI and Realtek versions) and BIOS (7.20).  I've been in contact with Realtek and they haven't been much help...
Chipset: Intel 975x - MSI 975x Power Up Edition
OS: Win XP SP2 all updates including DX9c and .NET framework 2.0
    GPU:  Sapphire X1900XT
    Memory:  Corsair XMS2 1GBx2 DDR2800
    CPU:  C2D E6300
    HD:  Seagate 7200.10 250GB
Here was there response  after I finally got my specs to them...
    Hi,
The CPU usage 2%~15% was normally .
Because this is software processing .
    Regards
    PC-Tech
I understand the bad english but I felt a bit put off by their response.  In a previous email I had even explained what DPC's were.  Unless I'm completely missing the boat here?!?
Anyone else experienced these issues or have some advice to spare.  Thanks.
    Nick

Would the audio instructions be processed through deferred procedure calls?  This is Microsoft's own explanation...
"On Windows NT-based systems Process Explorer shows two artificial
processes: Interrupts and DPCs. These processes reflect the amount of
time the system spends servicing hardware interrupts and Deferred
Procedure Calls (DPCs), respectively. High CPU consumption by these
activities can indicate a hardware problem or device driver bug."
If this is normal behavior why doesn't the audio card/driver identify itself better?  It seems a bit silly to me.
For realtek software audio solutions, this is a very normal behaviour. When you selected 5.1 channel output, more processing has to be involved. This problem will be further aggreviated during gaming when EAX is enabled, causing the CPU usage to go as high as 30%. Sometimes driver updates will improve the situation a bit, but does not solve the problem. Not matter what, you still have to invest in the creative hardware audio solution if you still want 5.1 channel output without causing the problem.

  • Question for those with memory issues on k8n neo plat

I have been having issues with my memory on the k8n neo platinum board since i built the system last month and i just recently discovered a fact I had overlooked.
I Have discovered that  if i test the system while it is cool (having sat turned off overnight for example), then memtest will pass the ram just fine and the system will be stable for a short period of time, generally longer if no intensive applications are used, ie. doom3 vs. websurfing).
This system, once it heats up ( seems mostly to be the nvidia 3 nb that needs to be "hot"- that is, a probe placed in contact with the module reaches about 58+ degrees c) then the system becomes unstable and memtest, if used, fails.
Prime95, if used on it when its cool, will usually take about an hour or so to fail, but if its used on the system when its been running a bit ( temps from nb at 58c+ and memory module hot to the touch) then it fails after about 20-30 seconds.
I have placed an active hs on the nb in an attempt to correct this, but temps still remain high with failures occuring.
I have spent the better part of three days testing the sytem this way and the above facts have held true in all these tests.
I have  tested at stock ratings ( not using "auto" in bios, but using "approved ratings" of 10 x 200 for fsb and timings of 2-3-3-7 for my ram at 1:1 (which is recommended as well) since i am testing for base stability at this point;Voltages have been left at auto settings, however.
I was wondering if anyone else with memory issues could try this out and post if this seems to be the case for you as well.
Perhaps the memory issues on these boards are directly related to a problem with the nvidia 3 chipset running too hot?
Does anyone have a memory issue with these boards who is using water cooling on the NB ?
Lack of issues from people using 'problem" memory, but having no failures with water cooled nb's would support my assumption.

    Yes i did mean chipset.
I am using a stock hs/fan from amd, which seems to run a tad hot but, considering that I wont overclock until I can get board stable, its not an issue. (runs 35-40 idle and up to 72 intensive). I need the warranty more then the extra mhz at present.
I removed the stock heatsink from the nvidia chipset and bought a generic chipset cooler (green, very little in the way of fins and seems to be aluminum) with a small fan.
I used a generic silver paste from Compusa to adhere both the cpu hs and the chipset.
I didnt lap either hs, just installed each as per instructions on artic silvers website (figured it had to go on the same way even generic).
I also bought a kingwin thermal center which i ran probes from to the cpu, case, and nb chipset.
I am not using it to adjust fans so those arent connected - its just a reference temp I can see at a glance, esp considering the funky bios reading this boards been known to give.
I assume from these responces that even a nvidia 3 250 chipset shouldnt get as hot as mine?
I asked about that from the retailer i bought this from but he seemed to think it was "ok" at 50ish celcius, but then again he didnt look too confident when he said it, lol.
Idle right now reads on Corecenter at 28 celcius for cpu and 33 celcius for the chipset, although, I have readings of 37 c and 43 c from the kingwin thermal center, which i believe to be more accurate.
My voltage reads at 11.67 for the 12v line at idle right now.
The psu i got is stick from the xblade case i bought in store. (http://www.xoxide.com/xblade2.html)
I have a dvd burner, cd drive, and two maxtor ide hd's attached to the system; The only card is the agp.
Is there a way to check and see if the cpu ispower starved? software monitor or even an external probe perhaps?
I havent put a probe on it, but the ram came in its own heatspreader, which gets very hot to the touch as well.
What temps should I be looking for on these items?

When I turn debug mode on for server via config tool, I've got 503 error and message "SAP WebAS Engine is starting... Message: Dispatcher running but no
server connected!" but in SAP mmc server instance looked like started (green color).
Windows Taskmanager shows me that 2GB total memory and near 600 MB of memory free.
Also I'm confusing about these nodes ("general", "bootstrap") with similar parameters and don't know which parameters I should set up according to note
    723909.
    2) I need to modify Java applications, build, deploy to local server and debug it there. Also may be ABAP debug will be used. Please give me information
about optimised engine (and, if needed, NWDS) settings for these tasks.
    Help will be appreciated.
    Regards, Lev

In general terms, the bootstrap process is what is used as java is starting up and pulling objects into memory. The heap used for the bootstrap process (I believe) is returned to the system after startup.
The server process is where the Java application server applications are so it will require the most heap.
    Does that help?

  • Memory Leak Issue With Win7 64 bit and Youtube.

    I have a Win7 64 bit using IE9 with version 11.4.402.265 installed. 4 MB installed.
Whenever I go to Youtube or Liveleak, and watch videos, over time it uses up to 4gigs of my memory! Even if I close the window, it does not free up the memory until I Ctrl/Alt/Delete and shut down the window(s).
I normally only keep open 1-2 windows. Google toolbar is about the only thing installed. I can open 5 and more tabs, but as long as the site does not use flash, I don't have issues and each window usually uses under 200k memory watching them in task manager.
When I go to open and watch a youtube video, it slowly climbs to 200k and within an hour, I can be at 2 gigs or more memory and up to 4 gigs within 2 hours (or sometimes much sooner). Closing the window does not release the memory until I end task on it and then after a minute or so, the memory seems to clear and everything is back to normal.
I searched the forums and seems lots of users, report memory leaks, some using yahoo toolbar installed, which is not my case. I do use yahoo as my e-mail address, no idea if that is related or not. I had the same issue when I had the prior Flash version installed, this has been going on for months. Right now having only this window open, using 129, 192 memory. If I open one more window (using the 64 or 32 bit browser) and start youtube, the memory in that window keeps climbing about 50-100kb a second, so it adds up quickly. I have kaspersky running in the background and that is about it other then my nvida driver setup.
Really frustrating that so many people here and across the internet have reported this. I did have IE8 a few weeks ago and still had the same issue, upgraded to IE9 to see if that helped.
Interesting side note, if I pause a video, it slows way down on the memory leak, but still rises at a slower pace. I don't know if this is an IE thing or Flash. I have had this setup since 2009 and don't recall having issues with IE7. I use Youtube so much as a teaching instrument as a music teacher, so constantly have lessons going on it.
Thanks and hope someone has come up with something. I also build computers and have done some programming, so I could modify a file if needed with clear instructions.

This could be similar to bug https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3334814
