A.pack wont create an *.AC3 file - perplexed..

Hi all, I currently have Apack 1.5, DVDSP 3 and FCP 4.5, now i captured the 2.2hours of footage, waited the nearly 13 hours for my 1.4ghz G4 to compress that footage to fit onto a DVD-R, but i would like to AC3 the audio, I have followed the tuts on the best settings to use, but A.pack doesnt seem to save the file as AC3, it asks where i want to save the .AIFF, then it crashes at some point during the encoding (I wasnt watching it but it did start ok)
I would normally use Idvd5 to create such a simple VHS to DVD job but as the wedding vid is 'just' over 2 hours it has a spit..
anyone have an idea?? its on a mac mini with 512 and tiger 10.4.4
-Thanks
Richard

thanks for the replys, but im afraid that website didnt help, thats actually the one I was referring to , to get all the right settings, and no the AIFF was only 1.2gigs, maybe it was a bad capture or something, as I compressor (I gave up with Apack) to shrink it down then loaded it into DVDSP3 and the audio was out of sync.
so i canned the 'compressor'd' files and loaded the raw footage into DVDSP and let it compress and it then worked, pitty there is no setting in DVDSP3 to tell it to compress to AC3..

  • Compressor on Intel Macs create byte reversed AC3 files

A co-vendor's MUXing application is unable to recognize my .ac3 file created by Compressor. I have a file inspection application from Manzanita Systems that also fails to recognize the .ac3 file.
I found this on the web:
    - - - - - - - - - - - QUOTE - - - - - - - - - - -
another user had a problem with an AC3 recently as well. In that case the file was created with a wrong (well, it's not actually wrong but it's unusual for Intel PCs) byte order which makes it impossible for ProEx to handle the file. DVD Studio Pro sees it just fine.
If you've got a hex viewer you could find out by yourself. The first two bytes of an AC3 must be 0B 77. If they are shown the other way around then the byte order has to be changed.
    - - - - - - - - - - - QUOTE - - - - - - - - - - -
I looked at my .ac3 file with a hex editor and it starts with 77 0B.
Then I looked at an .ac3 file that I created with Compressor on a G5 in back in October '06. It began with 0B 77. It was also recognized by Manzanita's MPEG-ID application.
I can't find anything on Apple's website regarding this issue. No Knowledge Base article; no update; nothing.
    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
Anyone using the latest version of Compressor on an Intel based Mac to create AC3 files having problems sending them out to people who are NOT using DVD Studio Pro to handle the files further?
THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED NOW.

    I'm afraid you're right.
I just created a brand new DVDSP test project. The three new files created with Compressor work. The same files that didn't work in the project where they were PPC created AC3 files.
I was lost in many possibilities, since I had also notice that if I go in DVD SP 4 Preferences, in "Simulator" (I'm french and I don't know its real name in english...) then in "output of player" (same for my french translation) in "Audio" and that I select "numerical output - sp/dif" I have no sound played. If I select "Integrated output" then I can hear back my ac3 created with Intel Compressor.
On this same computer, with my other project, AC3 PPC created or recently created on my Mac Pro with my old A.Pack software (from DVDStudio pro 2 or 3, I think), are read without difference between these two outputs.
Finally, Do you suggest me to re-encode all my files ? or should I use A.pack instead of Compressor - maybe Apple Developpers will correct it one day ?
I'm also upset because, I has a .DTS from a trailer that was accepted and perfectly integrated in my previous DVDSP version, and that I can't use anymore !

  • How do I create a DVD from existing M2V and AC3 files?

I have previously used Compressor 4 to render a M2V file and an AC3 file from which I burned a DVD 'job'.  Now, a week later, I wish to go back and burn another DVD from these files, (without rendering them again).  How do I use these EXISTING files to create another DVD (using Compressor 4)?
    Thanks,
    Geoff

If you anticipate that you may need multiple disks, the way to do it is to select Hard Drive as your output device/ That makes a disk image, from which you can burn multiple copies.
WIth the separate files already created, you could bring them into an authoring program like Toast. But if you want to re-use them in Compressor, I think your only option is to multiplex them in something like MPEG STreamclip and bring the new file back into Compressor.
Probably easier to redo the Compressor job with the original source.

    Hi Brian,
You can create it in Word or excel and then you can Convert it into .pdf Format
Here's a feature list that depicts benefits of PDF pack: Convert Word to PDF, Convert PDF to Word & Merge PDFs | Adobe PDF Pack

I had a repair done at the apple store where the replaced my hard drive and copied my other hard drive over to the new one.  Everything is fine except the time machine wont reconnect to my old file and is trying create a new file but not there is not enough space for both files files? Do I need to do something to have it continue to update my old file instead of recreating a new one?

Depending on what version of OSX you're running, and how the data was transferred, you may be out of luck.
If you're running Lion, and your backups were made to a directly-connected external HD (ie, not a Time Capsule or other network location), you may be able to get Time Machine to "associate" the new disk with the old backups.  See #B6 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting, especially the pink box there.
If you're running Snow Leopard, you might be able to do a full system restore of your backups to the new HD.  See Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #14 for detailed instructions.  That should leave a "trail" that Time Machine can follow to "associate" the new drive with the old backups.  Unfortunately, that doesn't always work, and there's no way to do it manually, as there is with Lion.

  • Creating AC3 Files

I am authoring DVD's and am working with Final Cut 4.5 (which comes with Compressor 1.2) and DVD Studio Pro 3. So this means I do not have the new AC3 converter that comes bundled with FCP Studio and Compressor 2.0. I have been using A.Pack and it barely works, I heard that they don't even make it anymore and its been replaced by the Compressor AC3 functionality.
So, short of buying a PC, does this mean I HAVE to buy Final Cut Studio if I want to be able to encode AC3 files?? Are there any other programs out there that do it?
I would greatly appreciate any tips!

The AC3 convertor in DVDSP3 works fine, it's just not very intuitive. All the control you need is available, if you can figure it out, and the results are excellent; good size, great fidelity.
What specifically are you having trouble with?
You can drop into the DVDSP forum and search for AC3 and Apack. Lots of good advice and lots of sympathetic kvetching.

  • I just installed Photoshop CC on new Windows 8.1 pro system and now it wont create new file or open existing files.

Ugh this is so frustrating and I suspect it is an easy fix I am too tired to figure out.
I just got a new PC and installed Creative Cloud and Photoshop CC, logged in and launched Photoshop. It launches fine, no error messages or anything. The tutorial window pops up and I close it. Then if I try to create a new file (the option window comes up) nothing happens after I submit the options. I mean nothing. No error message, no crash, no file canvas nothing. If I try to open an existing file it loads Photoshop as if it is going to open the file and Photoshop loads without any error messages but no file, again nothing.
    Please help.
I am so behind in my work lol.

After three or four tries, it just started working - I didn't change any settings or anything. I was just showing my friend how it wouldn't work and bam it opened a file finally...
    never seen this behavior before...

  • How to create Bluray compliant 5.1 AC3 file for Encore CS6?

I've made every version of a surround AC3 file I can think of - out of Premiere, Compressor, Vegas, BeSweet - and however I import it into a Bluray project in Encore CS6 it gets transcoded to stereo (though set to 'Don't Transcode'). What is going on?? I've read all round this and no workflow variation works. Yet the same AC3 used in an Encore DVD project is correctly encoded as a 5.1 disk. And Vegas will happily make a 5.1 Bluray with the same source source material. Help, please!

  • Compressor 3 sometime creates corrupt m2v files

I have FCS 2 installed. Usually i export my project from FC to Compressor, i use standard 90 min dvd template (everything in PAL cos i live in PAL zone). Import generated m2v and ac3 files in DVD SP and so on.
My big problem is that sometimes Compressor will generate a corrupt m2v that when i try to import in DVDSP will cause the program to quit immediately. When this happens, i try a different compression setting and it works, but on the last occasion I had a very tight deadline and had a 40 min project to export.... There was no way i could manage to get DVD SP to import that m2v file... So i exported the project in 2 separate files ( Day 1 of the event and Day 2 ... initially i had put a chapter marker).
Now Day1.m2v was ok, but Day2.m2v kept crashing SP while importing the asset.
At the end i had to export a mov file from FCP and let DVDSP do the encoding.
At first I thought it was a problem with DVDSP , but then i noticed i can't open the Day2.m2v file with Quicktime player because it will hang the program... so i guess the problem lies within Compressor.
This is a completely random thing... On another project where i had the same problem, i removed a 10 sec clip from FC timeline, exported with compressor and had no problem at all......
And this is happening on 2 separate identical machines (one at home and one at the office).
    Any ideas ?

Sorry for the 'me too' post but....
I am experiencing the exact same thing.
I have a 2 hour Full HD project which I export from FCP via Compressor using the 120Min DVD preset.
Sometimes the file it creates works perfectly in DVDSP, sometimes it just causes DVDSP to hang and/or crash.
If I then export the file again, sometimes it'll work and sometimes it wont.
This is all on a 24" iMac with Leopard and all the latest updates.
Whether the file works or doesn't work, there is no indication from Compressor that it has not processed the file correctly, and the ones that don't work are the same size as the ones that do!

  • 64 bit Photoshop CS 5.1 Extended crashes every time I create a new file or open an existing file

I installed the 64 bit version of Photoshop CS 5.1 Extended successfully.  It opens fully without issue.  However, any time I create a new file or open an existing file, it crashes.
I figured this would have something to do with my graphics card, but it still does the same thing after updating the drivers & nVidia software.  Seems like my whole trial will end up expiring before I ever even get to use it!! Please help!!
    System details:
Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit
    Service Pack 1
AMD Athlon II X2 215 Processor 2.7 GHz
    4 GB RAM
    nVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430
    Thoughts?

After "Restoring iTunes Library backup" it wont link to the files in the iTunes folder. I've followed the procedure as described, and the iTunes folder is in the correct location. iTunes lists all my music correctly (albeit with no artwork), but can't locate any of the files.
I've been restoring my iTunes folder from a backup hard drive to a new computer on which I've downloaded the latest iTunes (10.7). If this is a newer version than the one I backed up with could this be the problem? (I had the latest (to my knowledge) iTunes when I backed up the folder about 3 weeks ago, was this version 10.7?)
Or is the version of iTunes (within recent updates) not an issue when restoring a library?
    Using Windows 7.
    Any help please?

From the top of the page where the scripts live...
The general method of use is to download the script to a folder of your choice, e.g. your Desktop, Downloads folder or create a folder at ...\iTunes\Scripts. Select a playlist or highlight some tracks in iTunes and then double-click on the script to execute it. If no specific tracks are selected the script will try to work with all tracks in the current playlist. Some scripts offer a choice of track by track confirmation of changes or fully automatic processing of the selection. Many of the scripts can optionally display a progress bar while running.
You are strongly advised to backup your entire library, or at the very least the iTunes Library.itl file, before use. Test the behaviour of your chosen script on a small group of files first to make sure it does what you want before applying it to large numbers of files.
Most builds of Windows will execute *.vbs scripts when you double-click them. If that doesn't happen then you might need to visit the Add/Remove Programs or Programs & Features control panel to enable the Windows Scripting Host. I can track down details if you have issues.
Backing up and restoring data is an area that is often glossed over. Most people don't try to learn much about it until they've lost something important. (Me too )
If your iTunes library was in the usual layout then normally copying the whole iTunes folder from the User's Music folder in the old computer to the User's Music folder in the new one will usually work fine. Ideally this is done before iTunes is installed so that there is no empty library to replace, and all settings are picked up from the old library. This post contains more details.
