A part of an image frame is on other page as well, it is misplacing while creating PDF for print

I am working on a design in which there is an image frame box with outline & shadow. This box is continuing from one page to other page as well. (80% on one page & 20% on the other) When I am previrewing it in InDesign Booklet SE, it's showing perfect but when I created new document in that and look at the design that image box is coming only on one page not on the other...I am trying to break the box into two, but the problem is outline...it creates outline on all the 4 sides on both parts of the broken image frame resulting in outline in between the image, which is where the page folds. I don't know how to solve this. Will highly apppreciate any response/ideas. Thanks!

InBooklet SE had some problems with creating new documents and frames that crossed the spine, as you've discovered.
This MIGHT work, though: copy the image and paste in place so you have two copies on top of each other, then crop them in opposite directions to stop at the spine. I surmise you've added a stroke to the frame, so use the direct select tool to select the frame edge along the spine on each one and delete that segment. This will probably be easier to do if you put the images on separate layers so you can hide one while trying to work on the other.

  • RoboHelp9 HTML Trial does not show images in Create PDF for Review

When I do Create PDF for Review, the pdf shows only the gray rectangular placeholders for our logo and another image at the top of each pages instead of the actual pictures.  Is this a bug or it is supposed to work like that?
Just in case this has anything to do with it:
Some of RH's PDF Creator Add-in X features did not work on my new Win7, 64-bit, Office2010 machine, and said I couldn't then install my Adobe Standard 7.0 CD because "you have a better product installed".  The techs got on my machine for 2 1/2 hrs. and couldn't get it to write pdf via Printed Documentation and were going to try to re-create it in their lab.  A week later I uninstalled RH's PDF Creator Add-in X and installed my Standard 7.0 and I can now do Printed Documentation to pdf.  Would this have caused the problem in first sentence?

I cannot be sure but I would say it is highly likely. PDF Review is designed to work with Acrobat 9 or X. I know Word 2010 has some issues with Acrobat 9 so if you are using 7, nothing would surprise me.

  • Frame targeting in other pages

I have a page where the initial start page is all flash. All
the following pages are html with flash menus in a default template
that stays as you navigate. The pages all have one main inline
frame called "main" that all content is loaded in. The rest of the
page does not change. What I need help with is on the initial page,
I need to be able to click one of the buttons and have it open the
home page with the content related to the button clicked to be
loaded in the frame window. So essentially they will all be opening
the "home.html" file, but with different content in the frame
    within that page.

  • Use image as watermark on all pages of a document

Is there a way to make an image appearing on every page of a document automatically as some kind of watermark ?
I managed it to appear on one page, but can't find a solution how to get it automatically to other pages as well.
This was achieved by opening the desired image in Corel PhotoPaint, copying it into clipboard. Then at the AppleWorks document, I inserted it using the paste command (as drawing).

Insert linked text frames to your document, then drag-and-drop the text
    from your source document.
You refer to converting text docs into drawings, do you ? If so, what do you mean with "insert linked text frames", can you explain me how this is done ?
Sorry for this question, probably it is quite easy, but I have the German version of AW and therefore menu labels may be named differently even translated word by word
The alternative is to create your watermark object and paste it as a free
floating object onto each page. Position it where you want it, and send the
    object to the back.
Has this to be done when writing the document ? So when I know I have a three page doc, I need to add the image three times on each page manually ?
Unfortunately this would not do the trick, since I'm creating a template for users just wanting start typing without taking care about the layout.

  • The best way to enlarge an image for print?

    Hello
I've been designing for print for several years. Occasionally I design large display posters/banners (A0, 6-sheet, billboard etc) which use a photographic image. Assuming that the image I have is smaller at 300ppi than the final print, what is the best way to enlarge the image? Based on my experience, it seems that there are three options (to make it simple, the example here assumes that my image is exactly half the size it needs to be printed at. I'm also assuming that the file I will supply to the printer will be a high res pdf exported from Indesign):
    1. Set up the Indesign file at 100% size, place the photo and have Indesign upscale the image to 200%. Export a high res pdf for print.
    2. Set up the indesign file at 50% size, place the photo with no upscaling by Indesign. Export a high res pdf and have the printer blow it up to 200%.
    3. Set up the Indesign file at 100% size, enlarge the photo in Photoshop to 200%, and place the photo with no upscaling in Indesign. Export a high res pdf for print.
I have been advised that having Indesign upscale the image is not a good idea, and I never do this. I guess that option 3 is probably best, with Photoshop doing the work and the resulting pdf being the correct size. However, it's not always possible to do this – some posters are huge which means that the enlarged photo and the high res pdf will both be huge files, and I think also Indesign has a maximum document set up size anyway. So sometimes I use option 2.
So firstly, why is it a bad idea for Indesign to upscale the image (as I say, I never do this, but I would like to know the technical reason)? Secondly, if the choice is between re-sizing myself in Photoshop prior to exporting the pdf, or having the printer enlarge a high res pdf, which is better? When I say 'better' I mean in terms of the quality/sharpness of the end result. Also, I assume that vector elements in my design will not be adversely affected in either scenario, is that assumption correct?
    Thanks

Sorry for the added confusion.  It appears, after doing some checking in my CS2 apps ( InDesign), there is no setting for DPI / Output Resolution.  Only Transparency Flattener Setting. See screen shot below...
If you select Postscript File in the Print Presets, you can access resolution settings for transparency flattening there, too...
    in the "Advanced" tab dialog...
But, I like having the option in Illustrator 10 File > Document Setup where I can set the output resolution to whatever is appropriate.  In this case ( below ) I've got it set for 5080dpi / 300ppi.  You also have Effect > Document Raster Effect Setting where you can select 300ppi ( see screen shot below )...
    ...and Raster Effects Resolution setting...
I may have misled you because the apps I have are not CS6; but you should be able to follow along in your CS6 apps in various settings dialogs.  Mainly, resolution settings can be set in the Print dialog boxes.
The main thing to keep in mind is, because you are enlarging upon output, the base scaled down file must have enough resolution to maintain its appearance at the final size.  In the case of 50% or 25% file resolution should be maximum ( for current apps it appears 300ppi is considered high resolution.  Most apps now leave output resolution setting adjusted in the RIP / Print driver.
I still use Distiller because it allows me to setup custom PDF settings and save them for future use.  You very well may be able to do that in CS6 apps; but I have a tried-and-true workflow that utilizes Distiller as a personal preference.

  • Flatten an image for printing

I have been working on my logo with Illustrator CC and I needed to print my logo. And I used the .ai file and placed into a InDesign CC document and exported it as PDF for print.
But this is the result of the printed PDF:
and I was talking to the people at the printing place and they said it wasn't flattened properly.  So they flattened it on their printer and came out the way it should.
I used Package feature on InDesign and used High Quality Print preset from PDF presets and I also tried PDF/X-1a:2001 preset too with same issue.
I was wondering does this feature doesn't flatten images? Or is there other way of flattening on Illustrator or InDesign. My logo consists of lines with stroke.

    marrto wrote:
I thought placing a .ai file of the logo in InDesign would be the proper way of doing it.
    You are correct about that.
And the lines of my logo are actually a rectangle tool with rounded corners effect.
Okay well, at least that explains the difference between the two images in your original post. The output reported to be "not flattened properly" appears to have lost the live Round Corners effect. A logo graphic should never include a live effect. You could apply Object > Expand Appearance to those elements to make the results of the effect permanent.
The printing company didn't explain it to me very well.
That's true. The term "flattening" was misused.

  • Adjusting color in part of an image in a photo.

Hi, just bought Photoshop CC and am stuck.  I just received a photo of my uncle that was taken through the glass of the frame it was in.  The right side of his face is lighter than the rest of his face.  How do I adjust this color? You can also see some lightening of the lower right portion of his hat. Other issues have been corrected.  Portion of photo attached.  Thanks.

Thank you so much.  I will give it a shot. Your help is greatly appreciated.  Will let you know how it works.

  • Display part of an image in a box

I have a script that places several images in boxes using script labels.  I use the command, "fit myrect3 given content to frame" and that works great for all images but one.  One image is larger than the box and I only want to show a portion of the image.  Currently I move the image manually until I can only see the part of the image I want.  The image is always formatted the same so I wanted to know if there is a command to insert an image in a box with an offset so only part of the image shows?

Are you targeting the image object within the rectangle for the move command? Here are two examples one using the 'move' method the other by getting the 'bounds' and repositioning by changing those. If you get the bounds of the containing rectangle too then you should be able to use some math on how to fill & position within the rectangle.
    set This_Image to choose file
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS2"
    tell active document

  • Only Part Of JPEG images Appear when Performing Animation Using JPEG Files

    Hello,
I have an Applet that loads loops through 4 JPEGS one at a time for animation purposes. However, when running this Applet, unless I make the Width and Height very large, only part of the JPEGS appear.

    Hi,
It is always good to check basic things... but no, I didn't put anything in the search field .
I finally found a dummy way to solve the issue (by he way, this also solved it for Garage Band...). Hi did the following:
    1) Copy the folder "/Users/my_login/Music/iTunes/" on some other disc (or simply other location on the same disc)
    2) Quit iTunes if it is opened
    3) Put the original folder of point 1/ above in the trash, empty the trash
    4) Copy the file back from the location you copied it before, to the original location
    5) Open iTunes
    6) Drag and Drop the folder iTunes from "/Users/my_login/Music/iTunes/" on the main iTunes windows. iTunes will re-index the files (it may take a while)
Quit FCP if it was opened. Open FCP. For me, at that time, all iTunes files were now appearing correctly in FCP.
Probably that the above procedure can be simplified... in my case, only applying points 5 and 6 didn't solve my issue, but I guess it could solve such issues in other similar cases. Hope this can help other people having similar issues.
    Cheers.

  • Using applet to select a part of an image and then save it

    Hi ,
I want to use applet to select a part of an image and then save that particular selected part to a server. can anyone provide me a code for this. I have found codes on the sun site which help in uploading an image but I am having trouble in trying to select a part of the image.

Sorry to get back to you so late, but I was away from my computer this afternoon.
I'm not sure just what you are after. I do see that you have positioned the tree on the labels. I went to the web site for the label company, and their instructions are not too helplful.

I changed the white portion of 1 label to black - - this can be any color. To do this use the magic wand tool, tolerance=10 worked for me, then go to Edit>fill selection.

  • How do I fix problem with linked and cropped image frames not printing properly when spanning pages?

We are using InDesign (ID) to develop and print church bulletins which contain a combination of text frames and graphics. One of the graphic types we use are TIF files which are high-resolution scans of hymns.
A hymn usually has a combination of the musical score, plus the lyrics - with many verses., so the modular structure is 'staff' composed of a treble clef, followed by verses, followed by a base clef.
If the example above had 6 verses instead of one, we would crop the image by adjusting the frame, so that the treble clef and the desired verses showed through the frame.
We would then copy and link the frame - piggy back - adjusting the next content window etc....so we build a custom version of the music as a series of linked frames - each with the same base image, but a different frame position.
So this works fine, when we do this on a single page, but when we then add a 'last staff' at the top of the following page, we encounter print problems with some output devices.
Imagine a two-page spread, with a full page of music on the left, and the last staff (treble clef, verses, base clef) unit as a separately linked frame at the top of the right page of the spread.
It displays correctly, and will print individually as pages correctly, but when we print it as a booklet, the last frame drops out and we have blank space.
I can print the document to PDF and it works fine, but if I print it to a copier or laser printer I get drop out.
    It is inconsistent.
Previews are always okay. Individual page prints are okay, but when you print the entire document, the last frame in this kind of linked series gets blanked.
If we create and name the image differently, and call it in as a new image - (not linked to the previous), but it is still a large image that is cropped to a small piece, then it doesn't print.
If we save the last frame as a different image type (take the TIFF file into photoshop, crop it and save it as a jpg - so it is only the 'snippet') and then import it, it works fine.
So my question to you InDesigners....is there some setting or tip or trick I need to know to be able to link a series of frames with the same base image, but different crops and make it span across two pages properly.
Or do we need to play this game of crop and trim the image so that it doesn't drop out?
Any thoughts, advice, direction would be gratefully received!

I did a lot of such hymn things in the past, but I was alway working on the scans in Photoshop, like adjusting, retouching spots and cropping. And I was always seperating those images to be more flexible so I never run into such a problem.
I am always scanning in a higher quality level than I would need, I scan it in color, this allows me to eliminate paper color easily, even if I need 1-bit images at the end, I do it in color, so I can also turn the image.
I did once run into a similar problem with a scan I have got from a copier-scanner machine (it was not a song). But saving as PSD resolved my problem.
So I would suggest: Open your files in Photoshop, resave them as PSD files and use those instead. If you use 1-bit images (which is fine for this type of images) you should use a resolution equal to the printer's resolution.

  • How can I select only a small part of the image to clone or edit etc?

I want to select part of the image to clone is, and just edit the selected part. I know i can do this on photoshop but how do i do it on Aperture?

You use the "Retouche" brush in Aperture and set it to "clone".
Option-Click on the location you want to clone from to select a source, and then brush over the location where you want to clone to. The cloned region will follow the shape of the brushed area. You do not lasso the shape to to copy and paste it like in Photoshop.
For example: Duplicating a penguin: The sourcepoint has been set to the beak of the second penguin, and then I brushed along the path where I want to penguin clone to appear.
If I brush the whole area eventually the penguin will be copied completely. You'll have to experiment a bit with the brush size and softnees to ensure that the cloned object will blend in.

For the Clone Stamp problem, check the Clone Source panel and Clipped is probably unchecked.
If so, check Clipped and see if that makes a difference.
