A Plethora of questions concerning my brand new Vision: M 3
. Charging. So, I know that it is possible to charge it on my computer after installing the software. I installed the Windows Media Player version.
Now...is it possible to charge my player:A. On a different computer that has not had the software installed?B. Using an adapter I already have (Not Creativelabs) that has an output of 5DC .2 A?2. File transfer?Is it possible to transfer files on and off a computer that has not had anything installed? Basically, can I transfer files between the player and any computer if I just have the cables ready??If, hypothetically, my original computer explodes, will I be able to use my player with a different computer, be able to take the files on my player onto the new computer, and still maintain full usage of those mp3's on the computer? (I.E., that they won't be encrypted or something like that)? In this hypothetical situation, let those music files be files that i created/mixed myself, so they are not bought online or burned from a CD.

#? I would be careful with the charger.
The ZVM wants at least 250ma to 500ma to charge,? and really wants close to an Amp to charge fairly quickly.
Most inexepensi've wallwart power supplies don't regulate very well, and if you try to pull too much current the voltage regulation fails and you can actually fry a device.
0.2 Amps (200ma) would be considered really low for the device for charging, and personally I wouldn't risk it.
?#2? I just got a new dell laptop for christmas, and it came patched and with WMP on it. Was able to just plug in my ZVM and it was recognized and could get to my content.
So theoretically a newer computer down the line "should" plug in and work. Now the current version of Vista has some problems which don't make that the case, but patches are scheduled to be released in January that should take care of the problem.Message Edited by gmandual on 2-25-20060:44 PM

Plethora of problems on brand new mid 2010 13" MacBook Pro
This computer is about a month old and has been behaving very strangely since just a few days into its life.
Symptoms:
1. Computer would freeze or otherwise become unresponsive after being woken from sleep.
2. Music would keep playing long after iTunes has been shut down. Repeatedly starting up iTunes again and shutting it down only produced an additional layer of sound. Only remedy was to reboot.
3. Freeze (I gave up waiting after half an hour) on the boot HD choice screen for Bootcamp with Windows 7. It would keep displaying the 2 hard drives on a grey background, fans would spin up, northbridge felt incredibly hot. After about 5 attempts with booting directly into Windows 7 from Mac OS X from the System Preferences > Startup Disk pane, the choice screen started working properly.
4. Safari 5 sometimes slows down and/or beachballs, plus often crashes while browsing casually. I have not been able to find the source of this problem. It's not Flash, not embedded Quicktime video, I don't know what it is.
5. Computer would randomly adjust keyboard backlighting and screen brightness without any change in light conditions, in the middle of the night for example. Manually adjusting screen brightness right after waking the laptop from sleep recently froze it indefinitely.
6. Mouse cursor sometimes lags for a second or so, only to recover in performance.
*I tried to fix the problem:*
1. Running all the latest software possible, on every front, down to plug-ins and 3rd party apps. Never attempted any system modifications, themes, or other mods.
2. Checked HD with Disk Utility, repaired permissions. Same again, but with Drive Genius 3. No problems were detected.
3. I have reset my PRAM and the SMC/PMU.
Results:
1. Fan now speeds up uncontrollably and randomly almost up to the maximum 6200 rpm. I have never, ever, witnessed such speeds before under any amount of load. This can occur while browsing the Finder, while watching HD video off Youtube with ClickToFlash, or while looking at simple text webpages. The fan would never spin up this much before, not even while attempting to watch 4K video in Flash which I suppose is quite taxing.
2. None of the other problems have gone away.
3. In Windows 7, I still got solid gaming performance, although I have obviously never let it fall asleep under Windows in sheer fear of what might occur. I have not tried running Windows after the PRAM and SMC/PMU reset yet.
Questions:
1. Is this normal to occur on a brand new laptop? If it isn't, what can I do to fix it?
2. If there is nothing else I can do, how can/will Apple help me? I am tired of not being sure whether or not my computer will perform or not, and I need it for things like rushed coursework and presentations.

I messed up badly by trying to restore my brand new macbook pro by doing restart then command R and choose disc utility repair now when I start ,all I get is the white screen with a folder and a question mark,What can I do???help please
Can you still boot to the Recovery partition using Command and R whilst booting? Or did you wipe the Recovery partition as well?
If your Recovery partition is still intact, you can simply boot to it and reinstall the OS via the Internet. If you wiped the Recovery partition, you can hold down Command, option and R keys whilst booting and boot into true Internet Recovery mode. You'll be able to reformat the hard drive, erasing all partitions (format it as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" with a dingle GUID partition) and then reinstall the OS that shipped with your machine.
Note that you should use a physical Ethernet connection when restoring over the Internet - it's three times slower if you use wifi.
Try your Recovery partition first and if that doesn't work, use Internet Recovery.

Yes 10.8.2 is the latest version of Mountain Lion. 10.7 was Lion and 10.6 was Snow Leopard.

Brand new Dreamweaver user - question about SEND/SUBMIT button
Hello, all. Nice to meet you. I'm brand new to dreamweaver,
but not brand new to Design view in Frontpage - LOL.
I can create the basic website, with teh pictures,
thumbnails, multiple page cross links..etc.
My only question is I'm trying to make an application page -
basically a link from the home page that says APPLICATION.
I am familiar with adding text boxes for FIRST NAME/LAST
NAME/NUMBER/BEST TIME TO CALL...etc.
The only problem is I dont know what to do with that.
I don't think it can automatically send an email without smtp
info in the script, but I wouldnt mind letting it create a txt file
or something on the server so I can view it.
Or maybe it can send me an email, who knows.
Is there a really simple way or code I can use to have teh
send button somehow get to my email for me to view comments, names,
contact information...etc?

The very best thing you can do is to get a good book on HTML
and CSS and

Concerning no wifi connection on Brand New Ipod iOS 4.2.1

My girlfriend and I have just received our brand new Ipod Touches, mine is 64gig and her's 32gig. Now, her's is having quite the issue with it's wifi connection. We have more than one wifi connection in our neighbourhood, and the passwords to boot - but she can't connect. It says she's connected, until she's actually trying to browse when she is told that there is no connection. I know it's not the routers, because my ipod can connect to all of them, it's just hers doesn't seem to.
We've also followed the typical walkthrough, reset the wifi, disconnect and reconnect to the different connections, restart the ipod, what not.
Any ideas?

Help! My computer locked-up and had to be rebooted. However, when I restarted it and hooked up my iPod, I noticed my existing iTunes library (all 450 GB of it) was GONE and was replaced by a brand new library. Fortunately my old, 450 GB library is still on my hard drive under iTunes in Windows Explorer. How or why could this have happened, and most importantly how can I restore my old libary without having to manually import allow of my music and hundreds of Podcasts and 16000+ podcast files?
Thanks for any help....What you're describing is the expected behaviour. I believe though that is also is the easiest way to have all the contents available to both of you at all times. If you have a spacious hard drive you should probably allow this to happen as anything else will be harder to manage.
My suggestion would be the following if you want to try something different.
Store all your music at a location that is accessible by both of you — an example would be to use your Public Folder as the locations where iTunes will go and look for all the media files—. Your wife does have access to it.
In the Finder you will need to move the folder name iTunes Music to the location in your Public Folder (see above). Once that's done, you and your wife will have to go into the iTunes Preferences > Advance Preferences and un-check Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library. From this point on, you can continue to use iTunes as usual. You'll need to tell your wife what has been newly downloaded/imported into your iTunes so she can manually go look for those items in that Public Folder iTunes of yours and import them into her iTunes. She will not duplicate by doing that, but, like I say this is an all-manual work.
She can do the same, so you have access to contents she imported herself. One more downside of this is that both usernames have to be active in your iMac. If yours isn't, she won't be able to access any item (song, book, app) located in your Public Folder's iTunes.
I'm sure there's a way, if you have an router with external hard drive conectivity, for both of you to be able to access —independently— the iTunes Media at all times but I was just reading at another post that doing so can further complicate things.

If you charge your cat rent to live with you (assuming your cat has a job), then you can add the cost of replacement to the rent or take it out of the security deposit. With your new funds, you can go to Apple and buy a new pair of headphones. Hope this helps.

I'm brand new to Garageband. Well, brand new to the mac environment full stop. I must say I'm loving the switch.
I'm pretty keen to start recording GarageBand - most likely limited to Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Percussion and Vocal Mics.
Now - I'd be super surprised if the inbuilt mic in my shiny new macbook would cut the cake in terms of being able to get a quality sound. I'm assuming that you have to plug into the box to get the best sound quality... however, I'm concerned that if I were to plug an output from our P.A. into the mic slot in the macbook that it might blow the sound card.
Soooo... is there a specific way to do it, or a "best practice" for this?
Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully this could be a resourceful thread for other budding garageband-ists!

Ooh - what a question! My exact needs....
Well - like any newbie - I really don't know.. but what I can say is the background to my use - which may help identify some of my needs.
I'm pretty keen to start recording some tracks that I've written. They're not for serious production or sending off to the radio station or anything - just for me.
However, I play in an acoustic duo and we'd like to get some tracks cut for a demo for the local venues. That comprises of two acoustic guitars and two mics. Very raw.
Likely instruments to be recorded:
- Acoustic Guitar(s)
- Epiphone Les Paul Gothic
- Microphone(s)
- Standard Percussion (tamborine, shaker-egg etc)
- Bass
It's likely that drum work will be done in GB from loops etc.
So I guess I want to be able to input those instruments to produce the best quality sound (within budget-based-reason) on the macbook without frying the sound card.

I have just bought a brand new Ipad mini and started setting it up. I had updated to os7.4 and after it finshed installing I had to leave it before answering all the set up questions. When I switched it back on it asked me for a pass code which as far as I'm concerned, hasn't been set up yet. Anyone know whats going on!

Brand New iPod Touch, absolute failure to launch
Hi all, I was hoping someone here could help me.
I currently live and study in Japan, and thought I'd treat myself to a shiny new 32GB iPod Touch after my girlfriend and I marvelled over them for about an hour in the Nagoya apple shop. I popped into town today and picked one up.
I already have iTunes and a 3rd Generation iPod Nano 8GB, and they work fine, apart from sync problems, probably related to my Vista operating system.
When I got home, I plugged my new Touch into my freshly-booted pc... and nothing. The "hardware recognised" sound plays, and the ipod flickers on for about two seconds, displaying a connection cable and the iTunes logo, presummably telling my to connect it to iTunes.
Well, obviously I can't. The thing isn't even recognised in the "My Computer" window. The only place my pc sees it at all is in the divice manager under "Other Devices". It either has a question mark next to it, or an error saying the driver is not configured correctly. I have tried the "update driver" button, disabling and re-enabling, restarting my pc, and re-installing itunes, all to no avail.
The worrying thing is, the ipod itself seems unresponsive. All that happens when I press the button, is a few seconds of the image pressummably telling me to connect it to itunes, then it just seems to turn off again. Holding down the button doesn't do anything.
This is really worrying, as it is brand new, out of the box, and was $600 with the case.
Can anyone shed any light?

This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
Not really sure what this means, as reinstalling drivers doesn't seem to do anything... -
Spotlight is not working on brand new Mac mini

I got an issue with two brand new Mac minis running 10.7.3 (11D50d):
Spotlight is not working. I'm only getting the Wikipedia-Search.
Here's what I did:
Installation:
- took the stock Minis and set up two users, admin and user (limited account)
- updatet the System
- installed manually: Adobe Reader X, Office 2011, Firefox 12, Flip4Mac, Perian, Cyberduck, Google Earth 6.2 (the installer without the updater), VLC 2
- installed using AppStore: CalendarBar, TextWrangler, Unarchiever
- copied a few documents (Word and Excel files) from a PC to the Desktop
Troubleshooting:
- tried to restart Spotlight by adding the entire harddrive to privacy using »Spotlight« within the System Preferences
- that threw an error "no priviliges"
- started the System from the recovery system (on an USB-thumbdrive) and repaired permissions
- that did not help
- tried to restart Spotlight through the Terminal, running the command: sudo mdutil -E /
- that command returned: No index.
- the tried: sudo mdutil -i on /
- returned: Error: unable to perform operation. (-400) No index.
- went the hard way
- unloaded the daemon: sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
- erased the Spotlight folder: sudo rm -fr .Spotlight-V100/
- loaded the daemon: sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
That made everything work fine until I did a restart of the System. After the mini restarted I was back at square one...
Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?
Apple support suggested to reinstall the system. Something I can't do right now, as people need to work on those computers and cannot take a tow hour break...Hi Ray Land,

Just recently bought a brand-new iPod touch, 5th generation. To be exact, got it two days ago, this past Saturday, on 12/13/2014. Initially, when I first turned it on, it had a fully charge and I didn't need to charge it. I also didn't see anything in the very small and limited start-up guide you receive with it to charge it for a certain amount of time before use, or to use it until the battery dies, then charge all the way, like a lot of electronic devices have you do when you first purchase them.
So I was assuming I didn't need to do anything like that. First question, should I have charged it for a period of time before use? Should I have used it until the battery died, then plugged it in and charged it fully before use? Or is none of this necessary initially and iPod batteries are good to go from the start?
Please excuse me if this is an obvious question, as this is my first ever iPod. Anyways,like I said, nothing in the "instructions" said anything about that, so I didn't do it, I just used it until it got below 20% battery left, then I plugged it in.
Now for the battery itself, it takes literally a day or so to fully charge, even while not in use. Even if I use it for a while, turn off the iPod to make sure it shuts off all background data and apps, and then plug it in to charge, it still charges extremely slowly. I've never seen a device take this long to charge. As for the battery life itself, I'd say at full charge it lasts about 4-5 hrs, maybe 6, and then I have to charge it again. Meanwhile it takes around 24 hours, without me using it, to fully charge. If I use it while its charging, the battery decreases faster than it charges, and eventually I'll get the typical "20% battery remaining" message pop up.
I know it is charging, as the lightning symbol is next to the battery symbol. Specifically, right now, I plugged it in about 1 hr 30 minutes ago, and it has barely gone up. Also, whenever I press the home button to check the battery, I can see it jump down from about 50% to somewhere around 25%-30%. What is that about?
This is really frustrating, and I'm seriously contemplating either taking it back and trying my luck with a different iPod, or just taking it back and getting my money back. Any help and clarification on this matter would be greatly appreciated, and I'll answer any questions I can to shed more light on this.It will take longer to charge the 5G's battery than either the 3G or 4G's battery.

ProBook 4440S brand new malfunctioning
I just got a brand new HP ProBook 4440S. As soon as I turned it on I went to the McAfee website to install antivirus. I noticed it was very sluggish - i.e. it took 5-10 minutes for the buttons to light up so I could click and then took another several minutes to start IE once I was able to click. It connected to the McAfee site quickly as it should and downloaded the antivirus without issue.
In order to install McAfee I had to reboot the computer. When I restarted the computer it began downloading Windows updates (83 of them). It took 8 hours to finish then it gave me a message saying the Windows updates failed.It then restarted.
Once the computer restarted it ran the disk check utility for several hours. A whole lot of lines that read "File record segment ###### is unreadable." It will not boot from the CD it came with.
This is a BRAND NEW computer! Ridiculous.
I can't get the product number from the computer because I can't boot it up to find it. I have the model number and serial number, but I can't get onto your tech support with either of those numbers so I can get some help.
I received the computer through a 3rd party government purchaser so I cannot return it - I don't know where it was purchased. I cannot return it to the purchaser.
This is very frustrating, as I NEED this computer starting next week.

Display issue on brand new 2014 X1 Carbon Touch
So I was about to start raving about my X1C that I just received. Loving the display, the keyboard, build quality, etc. I had no gripes and was just browsing away when suddenly the screen did the full glitch. I recognize this as what happens when something's messed with the motherboard/display adapter. So I gave it a reset. All was normal and then it happened again. I was able to replicate it 3-4 times and it keeps happening. I never dropped it or anything. It was always just stationary.
I can't believe this. I had problems with the first gen non-touch and touch. I was hoping by now they have improved.

Can't delete old files from used TC
I bought a 500GB time capsule on ebay. No problem with the wireless, but I can't do a back up because it looks like the files from the old user are still on there.
