A question before I buy a Zen Mic

I was wondering if you can use the zen micro with itunes. Sense most of my songs were bought off of itunes. Thanks in advance.Message Edited by masterchief35 on 05-06-2005 06:05 AMMessage Edited by masterchief35 on 05-06-2005 06:06 AM

The answer's no - but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If you're a fan of iTunes, then an iPod is probably the way to go. If you're not a fan of being tied to just Apple's solution, and want a wider choice, then the Zen's a good bet. Creative supply their own software for copying tracks to the Micro, or you can use Windows Media Player (our preferred option). The Micro gives you more software choice, and you're not tied to Apple's software (which you have to register to use). The iPod supports MP3 and AAC formats, and the Zen supports MP3 and WMA formats, so if you're buying tracks with iTunes in AAC format, you're tied to the iPod. The formats used by the Zen are fine with other products from Creative, Philips, iRi'ver, Samsung, etc. If you're looking to order tracks online, consider the popular Napster

  • Questions before I buy Time Capsule

    Hi All
I hope you can please help with my questions before I go and buy a time capsule. I currently have a 5 month old 2.4ghz mbp and a PC running Vista. The PC is connected via ethernet to a billion 7402GL and the mbp connects via wireless. I was going to buy an external hard drive to store data and I thought I might try the time capsule as it will be networked.
I am not 100% sure I know how time capsule works so any info would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to work out the setup in my head I have had a read through these forums but I thought I would ask specific questions in relation to my setup.
When I connect the time capsule to the billion can I still use the billion for wireless or do I have to use the time capsule? Also do I connect the TC to the Billion using ethernet or wireless? I want the mbp to access the data on the TC via wireless and the pc via ethernet. I will be getting an imac once I sell my pc so that will also need to connect to TC. I will mainly use the TC for storing data but I might start using time machine as well. Is it possible for a ps3 to access TC?
I will be attaching a printer to it so I would want to be able to print from any computer that connects to the network.
What would be the best setup? Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

If you already have a working wired/wireless network, and a spare ethernet port on your router, just connect the TC to the router with an ethernet cable. Turn off the TC's wireless, and it'll work fine.
No need to change any of your connections, you can carry on using your existing router.
Printing will work fine from any computer connected to your router (or to the TC, if you wish), but the printer driver needs to be installed on each computer, and the printer has to be one that works with the TC.
I don't think that there's a way of using the TC as a server with a PS3. The PS3 needs to see a DLNA server - I don't think that there's any way to get this running directly on a TC.
You can get a Mac to run as a DLNA server (application called "MediaLink"), and it might be possible to get the Mac to link to the TC. This way, you could access the TC from the PS3, but the Mac would have to be switched on for it to work.

  • Few Questions Before I Buy!

I want to buy this laptop in future for university but have a few questions before hand. Can you change the video card like on a regular computer or is that not on option? When I buy the laptop it comes with the current OSX, but when Leopard comes out how much will it cost to upgrade or is it free? Which Ram memory is suggested for installing after purchase? And finaly, Does BootCamp run effectively on this Machine. Thanks in Advanced.

Can you change the video card like on a regular computer or is that not on option?
    The GPU cannot be changed.
When I buy the laptop it comes with the current OSX, but when Leopard comes out how much will it cost to upgrade or is it free?
The cost to upgrade has been $US129 in the past. Whether it stays the same for Leopard is unknown although it shouldn't be too different to that.
Which Ram memory is suggested for installing after purchase?
For simplicity you might want to think about buying the RAM from Apple. However, if you want to go 3rd party there's aplenty of choices such as Crucial, Kingston, Samsung etc. Just be sure to buy RAM that has been explicitly tested in an MBP (it'll say so).
And finaly, Does BootCamp run effectively on this Machine.
    Very.

  • I have a question before I buy Final Cut Studio 2...

I plan on buying Final Cut Studio 2 tomorrow, but before I buy it, I have a question. If something were to happen to my MacBook Pro, can I just install it on another computer? It might be a stupid question but I just want to be sure before I drive to the Apple Store.
    Thanks!

As long as the computer meets the minimum specification you can install it on any computer.
Physically you can install it on thousands of computers but Apple wouldn't be too pleased !
However, you are legally allowed to have it simultaneously on one laptop and one desktop that are owned by you.
So whenever you want you can take it off one computer and put it on another.

  • Orlando (or central fl) iPhone users.... question before I buy:

Been with att/cingular/att for years. First cell phone (motorola) I ever got, dropped calls all of the time and signal strength was poor. 2nd phone (an LG, my current one) never drops a call, good signal strength, but only rings about 50% of the time. So, before I buy the iphone, despite glitches and volume issues, do the folks from O-Town have positivie experiences with
    - signal strength
    - confidence the phone will actually ring when receiving a call
    - any dropped calls?
    - any other "service" related issues you can think of?
...and to really narrow it down, I'm on the theme park side of town.
    Thanks
MacBook Pro Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Thanks guys (and gals) for the information. I guess I'll pick one up next week.
I thought about creating this thread the other day when I pulled up next to a 20'ish guy in a gray compact who had an iphone. I wanted to flag him down and ask questions, but that would have been odd.
And yes, when I lived in celebration (phase 1), I recall reception being spotty at times. And the theme parks... good grief...it seems the most random places vary between signal no signal.
Again, thanks. I'll be in the Orlando iphone club soon enough.

  • So....should I buy a Zen Mic

Hi there! I'm a newbie who is looking to buy an zen micro, but having had a bit of a look around on here, I'm really concerned about the possibility of major software/ headphone socket problems. I don't know if these were problems with some of the early batches, or are atill going on. ?60 is a lot of money for someone who is on a student budget, so i'd really appreciate any feedback- especially as to the helpfullness of creative labs customer services if somsething does go wrong- i don't want to be stuck with a busted player 3 months down the line, with a company who are unwilling to replace/ refund me. Thanks!

I just ordered the micro on amazon.com. the headphone jack problem does exist. if it happens to me, i will return it and give micro another shot. btw, if the micro is faulty, and you return it to creative, will they send in a new one?
even the reviews on amazon.com are not that valid because once they received their micro, they more than likely posted that review a few days later. few days later is not enough to warrant a "no headphone jack problem". the headphone jack problem might occur much much later: weeks to months. so all those reviews were made in a rush. i think they should make reviews of the product after 3 months of constant/intermittent use to see how durable it really is.
go buy it, i know i did. it came down to carbon and micro. but micro is a superior player, except battery wise.

  • Read before you buy a Zen Mi

Here's the experience of one really unhappy customer. Haven't yet had a reply to my last message to Customer Support, but don't really expect to receive anything helpful.
    MESSAGE :
I bought my Zen Micro in April, have used it to read about 5 NetLibrary audiobooks and nothing else, and already it's giving me a 'Hardware Error' message when I turn it on. That's the last in a long list of problems:
    * The earphone jack caused problems almost from the first. I assumed it was just the cheap little earbuds that came with the product, and bought some new, good-quality ones last month. The problem, instead of going away, just got worse.
    * Also about a month ago, it started to have problems shutting down. It would show the "Shutting Down" message, but just stay like that until I removed the battery or hit reset. An extreme annoyance with an audiobook when you don't know exactly where you were when you left off since the bookmarks I set weren't saved.
    * The software can't handle large audiobooks. With the .* firmware, I could upload a big book (28 hours), but it only showed about 0 hours, after which the remaining time was zero and the fast forward and seek features no longer worked. Combine this with the problem shutting down, and I was ready to pull out my hair.
    * The software won't even upload that 28-hour book with the 2.* firmware, nor will WMP0. I had to use RealPlayer, but then the Zen wouldn't recognize the track length at all. Again, no fast forward or seek, even through the first 0 hours. Had to go back to the old firmware just so I could get back to where I was in the my book.
I feel ripped off-about $200 for being able to listen to 5 books! The warranty says I'll have to pay labor costs to get the hardware error fixed, but even if I do, I'll still be left with a bad earphone jack, no support for big audiobooks and probably more problems shutting down in the future. Oh yes, and no indication that Creative even knows that people like to listen to audiobooks. Not everyone in the MP3 market is a music-mad teenager, you know. Or well, you don't, but I sure wish you would figure it out. Check out your own forums, CNet's and any number others, and you'll see how many frustrated readers are out there.
REPLY FROM A CUSTOMER SUPPORT REP:
The problem you described indicates your unit may require repair or replacement. If possible, try exchanging the product for another from the vendor, for this may be much quicker and easier than having an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) issued. If this is not possible, an RMA will need to be arranged to have your product tested for repair/replacement.
If the product has exceeded its three month labor warranty period, a non-refundable US $25.00 diagnostics and handling fee will be required.
The fee is applied toward the complete cost of repair/replacement. If the cost of the repair/replacement exceeds the initial diagnostic fee, the RMA department will contact you to obtain your authorization for finance of the remaining fee. If the product is still within the year hardware warranty, as long as there is no physical damage, all hardware component replacement costs will be covered by the hardware warranty. If the product is not outside its three month labor warranty, no diagnostic fee is required. ..
    (Detailed instructions omitted)
Once this information is applied to the RMA database, we will reply to you with an RMA reference number and shipping instructions.
    * Please note that an estimation of repair costs cannot be made without the above information.
If you still require assistance, please reply to this email with any previous correspondence to ensure the quickest and most accurate service.
    MESSAGE 2:
This reply is NOT helpful, and it suggests you have not read everything I wrote. I did not contact Customer Service in order to receive a form letter. If Creative wishes hopes to keep me as a customer who will buy future products, it will have to do a great deal better than that!
Of course, the unit needs fixing. It does not work. Though more than three months old (as I already told you), it has not been used all that much, and yet it has multiple problems that did not show up until after the warranty expired. The fact that I am expected to pay anything at all when you offer no explanation of why I am experiencing the other problems I described astonishes me. As my original e-mail pointed out, even if the problem that causes it to display 'Hardware Problem,' is fixed, there are other problems as well, including the one with the software which will not function properly in importing large books. My paying you $25 to fix what is obviously a defecti've product will still leave me which a player that is less than satisfactory.
It is clear from Creative's forums that the Zen Micro line has experienced repeated problems with defecti've headphone jacks, and I have read a great deal that suggests this has in turn led to the failure of the entire unit. I do not know whether this is a design flaw or a manufacturing problem, but it scarcely seems like something I should have to pay to correct.
I have also read that Creative is aware of the problems with importing large files. Well, they can hardly fail to be aware of it, since there plenty of complaints about this in your own forums. And yet Creative does not appear to be doing anything to fix the problem, and doesn't even acknowledge it on their Web site. Are there any plans to address this bug? If so, what are they?
    Service, please.
REPLY 2 FROM A CUSTOMER SUPPORT REP (different person):
Thank you for contacting us. As your player is reading an error message that states "hard disc problem", this is specifically an issue that requires your product to be sent in, as there may be an issue with the internal hard disc dri've on the player. At that time, you may also have the head phone jack loss issue repaired under the warranty. There is a $25.00 labor fee after 90 days from purchase date shown on your receipt.
This is a standard fee for anyone outside the labor period (90 days), as stated clearly on our website at us.creative.com, SUPPORT, under WARRANTY AND RETURNS.
These are your options at this time, if you wish to proceed with an RMA, we will be happy to assist you. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.
If you still require assistance, please reply to this email with any previous correspondence to ensure the quickest and most accurate service.
    MESSAGE 3:
Of course, I have futher concerns.
. I did not receive a message that states "hard disc problem"; it says "hardware error," as I wrote. Is anyone actually paying attention to what I write?
    2. There are additional hardware issues that preceded that one. If I pay the $25, even if you send me a new Micro, it appears that these problems are common in the Micro and likely to occur again. Am I about to may more money just to continue having the same problems? I want some explanation of what is going on before I spend another penny and some assurance that I will not simply be throwing good money after bad.
    3. There is still the issue of the software/firmware, which cannot handle large audiobooks. What does Creative plan to do about this? Anything? So far, I have had two responses, and no one has even had the courtesy to acknowledge what I wrote, much less to provide me with any answers. This has nothing to do with any warranty.
    4. My player was out of warranty for one lousy month when I wrote you. I have a player with multiple problems, all of which the company appears to have been aware of when they sold me the unit, and Creative is insisting on sticking to the fine print. Why on earth would I want to do further business with such a company?
I want this issue escalated to a manager or someone who will actually address ALL the issues I have raised.

He is she and a grandmother, not some kid on the prowl. What kind of free stuff do you think I'm after? What I want is for them to wai've the $25 fee for fixing a problem that in most products would lead to a recall. They've known about the problem for some time, and it is one that, by its very nature, is likely to occur after the three-month warranty is up. I might not have felt so strongly about this, though, if the first two replies from Customer Service hadn't sounded as if they didn't even bother to read what I wrote. That is certainly not what I would consider good service.

  • A few questions before I buy a new iMac/Mac mini and sign up for Creative Cloud.

    Hello Everyone,
I am looking to purchase a new Apple computer and sign up for Creative Cloud within the next week and I have a few questions that should be answered before I proceed.
My wife and I own a business and we will be using the CS6 apps to create brochures, Constant Contact mailings, product package inserts, edit product photography for print and web use, and short HD how-to videos. We are not graphics professionals or power users and wont be doing anything too complicated.
Any help and answers will be greatly appreciated.
I will start with the hardware questions first:
I am trying to decide between the iMac and the Mac mini.
The iMac is a 2.7Ghz Quad-core Intel core i5 and comes with 4GB of memory that is expandable to 16GB, which I will do for sure. It comes with a Radeon HD 6770M graphics card with 512MB of GDDR5 memory(not upgradable), and a 1TB HDD that runs at 7200RPM. This unit meets the specs required.
The 2.5Ghz Mac Mini comes with 4GB of memory that is expandable to 8GB, I will also do this. It has a Radeon HD 6630M graphics card with 256MB of GDDR5 memory(not upgradable), and a 500GB HDD that runs at 5400RPM. This unit meets all the spec(I think) except for the speed of the HDD.
Question: Will the mini run the software without too much of an issue considering the speed of the HDD?
Question: Will the iMac run the software significantly better to justify the price difference?
I already have 1 mini(purchased 4 months ago, with the same specs listed above) and will be purchasing a second computer for my wifes desk. If the mini will run CS6 fine, that is great and we can save a few bucks. If my mini will not run CS6 well, I will get the iMac for her desk as she will be doing the bulk of the work in that regard anyway.
Now a couple of software questions.
After reading hundreds of reviews and forum posts over the last few days I have seen many people having this or that issue. It seems to me that most of the issues are because of upgrades from Lion to Mountian Lion after installing CS6 first or trying to open CS3,4,5 files in CS6.
If you want to know what issues have me concerned take a look at just this one forum:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2012/07/adobe-cs-apps-mountain-lion-no-known-issues.html
Similar issues are discussed in the Apple forums as well as many other places around the web.
I am not a computer professional but I know enough to maintain my systems and keep them running smoothly.
We do not have any Adobe software installed on my mini and will not be opening any files from previous versions of Adobe product in the new CS6 software. These will be a clean installs on pristine systems running fully updated Mountian Lion OS's on both machines and creating new files from scratch.
Question: Should I be expecting any issues like the ones I have read in the forums and blogs or are these just the normal things that happen when upgrading to new software with multiple hardware configurations?
My feeling is that we will not be having too much of a problem due to the clean installs and no files from previous versions.
Next up, the Creative Cloud(CC) FAQ states that you can install on 2 machines but can't open stuff at the same time.
Question: Does this mean we can't be using any CS6 apps at the same time or just not using the same app at the same time?
Example: PS and PS on both machines at same time = No, PS on one and Dreamweaver on the other at the same time=Yes?
The CC FAQ page says Adobe will add Lightroom 4 later in 2012 while the main CC page lists it as available now.
    Question: Which is true?
My mini is registered to me, with my name, iTunes account, Apple ID etc.
Question: Do I need to do the initial set-up of the new machine with all my information to ensure the CS6 suite works on both machines? Do the computers need to be registered(as far as Apple configuration is concerned) to same person for them to work on one CC account or can I install CS6 on any 2 machines regardless of how they were initially set-up?
This may seem like a silly question but I want to avoid any problems before they happen.
Well, those are all of my questions at the moment. To anyone who made it this far in my looooong post, Thank You so much for your time. I appreciate your expertise and knowledge and hope that you can help me make this decision.
    Cheers,
    Alex Bogdan

    Alex,
I'll try and answer your questions as best I can.
    Qn 1 Which Mac.
Ans:- As I understand it both units will run Adobe CS6.
Which one really depends on what you wand from CS6. If you are looking for high end demand and performance, then I would go for the IMac
Your Specs for the Imac are right. However if you buy your IMac straight from Apple there are even higher specs.
              You can get:-
3.4 GHz i7 processor rather than the i5
2GB video card as opposed to a 1Gb video card.
Of course such a model will cost you more.
In the end it is needs compared with money to spend. That is only a decision you cam make.
Q2:- Will the higher cost for the Imac justify copst.
Ans:- Again it depends on what demands you intend to make on the hardware and software.
But I note you have a business and if that businees expects to high demand and high speedy performance then I suspect the Imac would be more able to provide your needs.
Again only you will know the answer to that.
    Q3:- Questions about CS6 reliability
Ans:- I have been with Adobe for way over 10 years.
Speaking, only for myself, it is the most reliable software on the market.
It is true that if you look down this form, like any other and I am thinking about the Apple discussions forum, you will find numerous instances of problems.
Again this is only my opinion, but although all these problems are real for the individuals:-
First it is not clear why they have the problem e.g. what have they done or not done.
Second, they are in the minority of the total users using the hardware / software.
The only problem I am aware of with CS6 is Acrobat X. I understand it has been sorted Adobe, however it cost me so much work I have removed it from my system and reverted to Acrobat 9
So what I am saying is that there are only two comapnies I rely 100% on: They are Adobe and Apple.
So if you are happy with my opinion I would not worry about Adobe CS6
    Qn 4:- CS6 0n 2 machines.
Ans:- Yes you will not be able to run the same program similtaneosly.
I believe, if it is important that you do run the same program together, that you can acquire a further licience from Adobe to do that.
You would need to contact Adobe about that.
    Qn 5:- Lightroom 4
Ans:- Lightroom is now available as part of Creative Cloud.
Qn 6:- Set up for individual machines
Ans:- I do not believe you do. Once you have set up your Creative Cloud account you go to the apps site and download the apps for each machine.
Each machine downloads the apps and your machine and the apps are registered by Adobe.
Here is something that you may want to know:-
Because I was so unhappy loosing all the Acrobat data with Acrobat X I ended up deleting Acrobat X
However as far as Creative Cloud is concered Acrobat X is still on my machine.
It is not a problem for me because I am happy with Acrobat 9, it fullfils my needs and has not crashed and lost me all my bookmarks.
              However here is the point:-
Adobe, when there was a problem with Acrobat X requested that no-one deletes the application.
Though I do not know for certain I believe registration of the apps you have with Creative Cloud are registered with Creative Cloud in their database. Therefore were you to delete an app, it will still be registered with Creative Cloud and you will not be able to download a further copy even though the app is no longer on your    machine.
Therefore it maybe not a good idea to delete an app when you no longer have a use for it. If you want it back I suspect you will have to contact Adobe Support
    Personal Comment:-
It is true many unfortunately have had all sorts of problems, including me with Acrobat X.
That said, Creative Cloud in my view has been a major advance in how Adobe delivers software. I have no regrets with signing up to Creative Cloud and I expect to remain with it.
Hope all of that goes some way to answering your questions.

  • Questions before I buy Flash Media Server 2

Hi! I'm considering buying Macromedia Flash Media Server 2.
This software would be a large investment for me, so I'd really
appreciate any answers or advice that anyone could provide. I just
    have a couple questions:
    1) Can FMS2 be installed on the same server that runs my Web
sites? I have a Linux server that runs a few sites, and it would be
ideal to run this software and the sites on the same server. I'm
also wondering what port it would run on? I've used RealNetworks'
Helix Server, which requires you to run it on a separate server
because of port issues. I want to use Flash instead.
    2) Does this software also come with a Flash video player
that would work with my sites? I want to be able to stream .flv
videos from my Web sites and have a Flash player launch whenever a
user selects one of my videos (kind of like how RealPlayer launches
when you click a RM file). This way, the player wouldn't always be
embedded in the page. Is that possible? I'm worried about the
player failing to launch, or people needing to download a special
    player to view my videos.
    Thanks very much!

    1) Yes you can run it on the same box as your web server. You
can specify any port you wish for FMS to listen on (default is
    1935)
    2) I'm not quite sure I understand. In order to view your
videos a client will have to have a flash browser plugin installed
    - which should not be a problem as flash browser penetration is
somewhere in the high 90th percentile (if Adobe is to believed). In
addition, your flash application will need to make a connection to
FMS before it can stream videos, so its not quite as simple as
clicking on a .flv link. Your flash app will have to be embedded in
a page (think youtube - although youtube does not use FMS).
If you're not sure if FMS is right for you (and you sound
like you're not sure), why don't you download the Developer edition
and test it out? Its free and has all the features of the "full"
version, but only gives you a license for 10 users.

  • E-MU 0202 or 0404: Questions before I buy (latency, compatibility issues)

    Hi,
I'm currently considering buying an E-MU 0202 or 0404 (probably the 0404). Before doing so, I'd like to ask a couple of questions to those who already have one. I have an Athlon x2 3800 with an Asus A8N motherboard, Gefore GT6600 display card and 1GB RAM. This should be enough for fairly good performance, but I wanted to find out what others are experiencing. I plan to use the interface for recording high-resolution audio from an audiophile turntable setup as well as home recording of electric guitar and MIDI keyboard so I need both the high-res 24/96 (and even 24/192) for the vinyl recording, and good MIDI/ASIO latency performance for recording 24/96 guitar
    1. What kind of latency performance are you getting from the E-MU ASIO drivers?
    2. With my current soundcard, an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum, there have been compatibility issues with the nforce4 chipset. Has anyone run into any such problems with the 0404 yet? The 0202?
    3. I have three external hard drives running through USB. Could these compromise my performance to any great degree?
    4. One other option I've considered because of the hard drives is running the 0404 SPDIF output into the ZS SPDIF input. Is it possible to record this way to the PC instead of through the USB port?
    5. Finally, how about overall compatibility with the Audigy 2 ZS. I plan to keep it for surround playback. Has anyone run into compatibility issues with the drivers for either the ZS or the 0404? How about between the 0404 driver and the kxproject drivers for the ZS (I currently use them).
Thanks for your help. Both E-MU USB products seem tremendous. I read a fantastic review of the 0404 recently so I'm looking forward to picking one up, but I need to make sure I'm not disappointed if it doesn't meet my needs.
    Thanks,
    Steve.

I'm wondering if there's something I wrote in this message that's either offensive or incomprehensible. I've posted it here and in the unofficial forum and no one has answered any of my questions, yet I see that people who posted similar questions after this one got answers right away! Hey I don't expect special treatment or anything but why ignore my message and answer the others, especially if you work for Creative/E-MU and have a potential sale? Or are the answers likely to prevent a sale?

  • I have a bunch of quetions before I buy the Zen Sleek Photo

Is what I heard true that
    Questions:
. The Battery is not replacable, if this is true how long do the batterys last in these things?
    2. I heard that the screen is almost non-viewable in the sunlight

  • A Few Questions Before I Buy

    Hi,
    I'm getting ready to buy a Mini(2Ghz, 320G, Upgrade to 4G RAM).
I have a few things I could use some advice on.
I plan to edit some video, SD not HD, home movies and self produced documentaries, nothing too complex.
I would like to capture video from a MiniDV camcorder(FW) to an external FW400 drive. With one port, I'm not sure the best way to do it. Should I adapt the FW800 to 400, connect the drive then connect the camera to the drive, or should I get some type of hub? If I need the hub, I find plenty to split a FW400 port to multiple ports, but I don't seem to find anything that will connect to a FW800 port and split it out to FW400 ports. . . .
I've spoken to a sales rep at the Apple store, and at 800-MY-APPLE. They both say this is no big deal just connect the camcorder to the Mini and away we go.
Capture the video in iMovie, and then copy it to the external drive. OK, I'm no Guru here, but most of the information I've found on the www strongly discourages trying to capture DV to a 5400RPM drive, ESPECIALLY a system drive. I REALLY would like to hook up the External drive AND Camcorder at the same time.
Once I have the video captured, I have a decision to make about editing software. Since my Camcorder doesn't have a mic input, I frequently capture my sound with a ZOOM H2 digital recorder. When I edit, I then have video, camera audio and a wav file from the ZOOM. To sync this audio track with the video, I need to slide the wav audio around the timeline with pretty fine resolution to match the video with good tight sync. In my experience with several PC editors, I've found this really difficult to do since most of them limit the editing of audio tracks to one frame accuracy, or 1/30th of a second, which is WAY too coarse to get really good sync with the picture.
So, I'm wondering if iMovie would allow me to slide my audio around the timeline freely, or should I be considering Final Cut Express instead?
After years of PC ****, I'm looking forward to the new Mac. Just want to make the right choices. . .
    Thanks for the help!

  • Should I buy a Zen Mic

I really want to get a Zen Micro, but I'm worried about the headphone jack problem. Does anyone know if Creative has fixed the problem in the newer Zen Micros? and if so, how do I know which ones are the new Micros?

Every player has problems, some more than others. The iPod has more problems than the micro, but the Rio has less (at least thats what I was told).
One thing to remember is that all of these MP3 players are essentially a new technology. They haven't been around all that long. So I think all models have their own set of issues at this point due to the fact that these devices are fairly new. Its gonna be a few years before everyone starts getting everything closer to perfect.
But I did some comparison shopping and tried out a few idfferent units and found the Zen Micro to be the best choice for me. I travel about 3 weeks out of every month and the size and functionality seem to work great for someone like me who is running their player on an average of 4-6 hours per day on a near daily basis and who wants something small enough to stick in my jacket pocket, but has a hard dri've to overcome the space limitations of a flash player, which typically top out at gig from what I could find.

  • Questions before I buy an iPod Touch

I have a few questions to ask before I purchase a Touch. I have wireless internet in my home (not WiFi). Will the internet feature work with wireless internet that isn't Wifi. Also, when you are on the internet, can you type in a search query in a search bar? Do web pages appear as they do on a PC? Also, can you access web based email like yahoo? thanks

Which means you have WiFi and the Touch will work in your home.
Be aware also that on March 6th Apple is having a press conference announcing the methodology for adding officially sanctioned 3rd party software for the iPhone/Touch, and when the Software Development Kit will be available. It is possible (but nothing has been announced) that there could be a Flash plugin sometime after that.
