A suggestion to moderators

Dear moderators in MM forum,
May I made a suggestion? I have received some feedback from my colleagues who are trying their best to contribute in this forum. That some time, which is not so frequent, that their points will be unassigned.
I've explained to them about the possible reason, and they can accept this.
But since we can't track the reason when points are unassigned.
Would you please try to send the author an email/message when you decided to unassign points?
That will do great help to all users in this forum, and this will help to guide them the correct principle, so that they will not make the same mistake again.

Suggestion to Moderators: time to split this forum into subjects

I think this forum went through significant activation and change since first initiated after SAPPHIRE 2010. As HANA went from the idea on the slide to real thing with many different aspects I think it is time to split this forum into few focused topics, e.g.:
- Business cases for in-memory technology
- SAP HANA platform and administration
- SAP HANA development (SQL, SQLScript etc)
- Data replication into SAP HANA (SLT, SyRS)
- SAP HANA Dev Center
- SAP HANA Security
etc.
BO integration with HANA should be in BO forums. BW-on-HANA should be in corresponding forums on BW and OS/DB migrations.

Your suggestion makes perfect sense to me. However, as we are all waiting for the new SCN to launch, we should get prepared to do some re-org of the content on the new platform and not introduce another level of complexity here. I don't think a definite date has been announce yet, but we're getting closer to the final migration. At least the developer center will have it's own forum on the new platform. Plus, the new SCN will allow tagging of content, so it'll be much easier to keep things organized if we all show some discipline (and if we don't, separate forums won't help because without some discipline, people will post into whatever they find first)

Suggestion for Moderators

Just a suggestion but how about putting a 'sticky' thread at the top of this forum as an FAQ?
e.g. link to documentation can be found HERE... Download the application HERE...
Common issues which keep being raised (like the agent test only performing a ping).
Common explanations like how Controller (OLT), Agents and Test Manager are interlinked (and how OpenScript can be used for both functional and load testing).
I only mention this as this forum does seem to be getting a lot busier recently (certainly moreso than 2-3 years ago) and common threads are starting to appear.
Maybe have a "Newcomers Start Here" thread? I know what it's like to be a n00bie and get pointed to threads where people have asked EXACTLY the same thing (just worded differently).

This is indeed very difficult to grasp. I wish someone, somewhere would write up the definitive answers to what’s going on.
Here’s my take (I could be totally wrong and would love some clarification):
1. You import a RAW file. That’s a Master and it can’t be touched. Of course, this is true in a lot of RAW converters. The RAW data is used to render an actual color image. I would then call that a Version. Sound OK?
2. You import a PSD file. That’s a Master (again, Aperture doesn’t touch it, although it could). I’m under the impression that if you try to do anything to that PSD file, a Version is made for the edit to be applied. Sound OK? Note, I think this and all versions are actual full sized, pixel based PSDs. With RAW, multiple Versions are instruction sets to be used to build a true pixel based file IF you export that data (or Open with External Editor). Is that correct?
3. The reason Layered files are not working as many would like is that while the Master PSD (with layers in this example) is inside the Library, as soon as you wish to work with it, a Version is made and the result is the Version is a flattened copy (this doesn’t have to be but it is). Sound OK?
3A. Apparently if you option drag the layered Master into a different album, it is copied with layers intact. From there, I think you can alter it and retain layers.
How we tell Masters from Versions seems a bit unclear. Apparently if you open a Master in Photoshop (the result of course is a Version), you get the bullseye.

Suggestion to moderators

Every day, in the several spaces I follow, I see 'new' (newly udated) threads that, when opened are really old threads .. even the oldest message in the thread is days/weeks/months/years old. Usually the thread is locked. I'm assuming that the moderator has locked it for some reason .. perhaps someone revived it for not good reason .. but it is not clear since the thread doesn't actually have any new content. I'd like to suggest/request that if that's what is happening, the moderator put a closing message of explanation when they lock a thread.
And if my assumption is not correct, why would an old thread suddenly appear at or near the top of the 'recently updated' list?

That has been discussed here several times, as far as I remember it was told that a massive batch will lock threads older than 4 months. No idea about the status of that task though.

You know, enhancement request is fine in a normal way of working and software, but does not look an option with Jive team. And thus not only with this crapy version, it was also true with previous ones.

SAP Version to be added in the subject line while posting a question.

Hi,
We all have been posting and answering thousands of questions on the SDN. Many times I have seen moderators asking the person who posted a question to use a correct and informative subject line.
With respect to that, I would like to suggest the moderators to add a rule in the rules of engagement asking the users to provide the SAP Version in the subject line while posting questions.
This way the person answering the question can appropriately provide information based on that version only and would save the time and effort of everyone.
Example subject line can be :
ECC 6.0 Function module xyz is not returning correct results.
I would like to know the opinion of other users too on what they think about this suggestion.

In theory - a very good idea.
In practice - hard to enforce.
On second thoght, it could be a required parameter. It might have the added benefit of dissuading questions from people who can't figure out which version they have

Please, I need a suggestion by moderators and/or mentors. Please, read this [post|Re: Partial Delivery]. I'm angry by this behavior by two reasons, I'm so busy to read this kind of opinions or observations. And of course, in my opinion Lakshmipathi didn't do any mistake. Really, the answers were wrote in the same time (1 minute, perhaps seconds). And of course, in my opinion, Lakshmipathi deserves everyone's respect.
I think that this person need that somebody tell him off. I need to know if I might hope any threat if I tell him off (in a polite manner of course).
Any suggestion or advice is wellcomed.

Coming to the issue, yes in the past, many times, I came across such unwanted comments and for few seconds, it hurts me a lot but after that I ignored. Like the same way, I treated the said thread also. Its all part of the game

After reading the blistering reviews, I am NOT interested in upgrading to Yosemite OR the new iPhoto. I just had to install a new hard drive and now I need to reinstall iPhoto. But all I can find is 9.6.

Also, knowing that it's impossible to get the 9.5 upgrade, makes any or suggestions from moderators futile, or even superfluous, if it doesn't relate to that pertinent information cogently supplied by léonie (see above), IMO.
Although the thread starter could not, would not, or didn't wish to update OS, presumably the predominant reason that MOST people [like me] 'want' [or wanted, in my case], the upgrade was so so that they could complete the upgrading process into the modern OS--this is not a 'stretch', but common sense...
So, yeah, you are correct, but no, you are mistaken, and yes, it is a fix--for me, or anyone in my shoes...

Suggestion to the Moderators re: the site

Hello.
I have a suggestion for something to add value to the site. I believe it would be helpful to install a link/button that takes you to the place on the Canon site where you can view/download user manuals. I realize you can get there in just about 3 clicks, but you have to be looking for it. A button would give folks the idea of looking for it. It seems that so many of people's questions are answered by someone looking up the poster's manual for them, and then directing them to the proper page.

Hi all! My name is Alexander. I'm from Russia. My English is bad so I use an online translator. I am writing to you on all Russian-speaking users of Skype. The problem is this: recently, attackers have learned to delete accounts using the holes in the program. It is a very serious vulnerability just Skype: you can be banned for a short period any account with any balance, with any number of contacts. How does this vulnerability? Everything is very simple. By many accounts the sacrifice are listed in black list, report the violation. Of course you will say that this is just a security system. But many people are not honest. The hole you are describing is known. There are certain teams working on it. So far, we do not have any public statement or ETA for the fix. None of the moderators are in a position to provide a fix for this problem.
The best thing I can suggest is to ask CS to escalate it. If they refuse, ask to escalate again and again, until they do this.

How do you make an itunes feature suggestion to Apple?

I'm trying to find a place to make an itunes feature suuggestion to Apple, but all I seem to be able to find is a "request music" link...
If this is the only place, then here is my suggestion...
I am a video editor and I use itunes to play my music, but also to audition sound effects and production music tracks. But when I do a shuffle play of my entire library, I don't really want to hear these sfx and songs (or the audiobooks I've taken from an audiobook CDs).
Therefore, I think it would be useful if there was some kind of "flag" that said "this is not a song" or "don't include in shuffle".
Alternatively, what would be great for me, is if itunes could have multiple libraries, then I could have a normal music library, a sfx and production music library and an audiobook library.
Anyway, I guess I can dream.

The iTunes feedback is confusing indeed. I use the general Feedback page to report bugs and to do suggestions.
They assure that the messages will be read, but you won't get a reply.
As this is a user-to-user forum, it is highly unlikely your suggestions will be read by Apple employees (except moderators).
You can exclude songs from shuffling by checking 'Skip when Shuffling' in the 'Options' tab of the Info window (Get Info of a song; shortcut: command-I)
Unfortunately, you can only do this song by song.
Using this script, you can enable/disable 'Skip when Shuffling' of all selected songs.
You could put the songs/sfx in a playlist, select them all (command-A) and run the script.
To run multiple libraries, you can choose between these two applications:
iTunes Library Manager and Libra.
Although not real instant switchable libraries, both apps. can create multiple 'iTunes Library' files, which enables you to have separate libraries for all kinds of files.

May I suggest a "Variety" category be added to the iTunes listing? My show, "Things I Say," [as well as others like "The Bitterest Pill"] delivers comedy, music, fiction, news, commentary, interviews, and advice, all at varying degrees, depending on the show topic. None of the existing categories adequately sum up what I'm about.

and if, User puts the similar kind of Queries (repeatedly, again and again) and he does not provide his Research-work (before posting the threads); in such case -
USER must get Blocked, from the Forum.
This will reduce the No. of Unwanted queries, in to Forum. This will also ensure the Quality of the Forum. This will restrict the Ill-Practices, in to the Forum.
No matters, what Moderators and Other Members, are gonna think up on this suggestion; This was my responsibility to Provide something Constructive-Feedback, to the Forum, which has given me alot (in SAP Knowledge sense).

All these years I have been requesting members to search the forum before posting silly / basic questions and only very few members have taken my request in right spirit and some have raised objection and at times, they have commented like anything which I dont want to express here.
I am really happy that all members have the same opinion and going in right direction which is defintely an encouraging sign to this forum.
All of you are aware Moderators are also doing their best by locking the threads then and there and giving a warning to the concerned but at the sametime, it is also very difficult to keep monitoring the forum regularly as they also have to work for their employers.

I dont think practically this is possible. In fact discussions are going on among Moderators and necessary steps are being taken then and there. Also wherever any individual holds multiple user ids and rewarding themselves, they have blocked those user ids straightaway.
This is due to the fact that many new members without knowing the rules and regulations of the forum, are posting such questions and despite the fact that they have been requested, many continue to do so. As I always telling the forum, unless the individual have self discipline and maintain decorum, it will be hectic task to Moderators to bring controls in the forum.
This is not only in this forum but in all other forum also, these things are still continuing and there also, the respective members have warned.
Anyway, I will take up with other Moderators about this issue and update. But for posting repeated questions, blocking the respective user id may not be possible.

Flag a thread to moderators for moving

Suggest adding an option to flag threads which are in the wrong forum to make moderators aware of them.
At the moment for those of us who are just normal users, if we spot a thread which is clearly in the wrong forum the only thing we can do it suggest to the OP that it should be in x forum, and hope it won't be too long before a moderator spots it so it can
be moved.
Not sure how the moderator permissions work in terms of permission to move from x to y, but if it included an option to suggest which forum would be more appropriate then perhaps it could flag it for the appropriate moderators with permission to move it
there. They can then obviously decide whether the suggestion is correct or not.

It does sound like a good idea.
Also, I think move functionality can be enhanced by adding ability to provide a forum's URL link.
Right now we need to scroll through very long list to find the correct forum. Also, sometimes we don't know which brand the forum is and we need to check several brands.
If there is a good suggestion in the thread with the forum's URL, we should be able to put that suggested URL into a text box for new URL and the thread will be moved into that forum.

TS1702 I am unable to delete any app from iphone5 any suggestions.

If I try delete app then they all shake as we know but cannot delete.
The USB DISK PRO app is blank when opened and no response.
All other apps still work though.
It was suggested that the app mentioned was a "jailbreak" well I don't know what that means but I am sure that is not applicable.
I have Tried to
1. Reboot phone
2. Reset app in settings as suggested by app developer
3. Switching phone on and off.
None of above work.
The developer suggests that this is a problem for apple to resolve ?

Unfortunately, we can't discuss Jailbreaking in this forum as per Terms of Use.
If I mention even some App. here the post will get deleted by the filters set by Moderators. And the very purpose of helping could be lost.
Assuming it is your own iPhone and was never handed/loaned over to any one, I presume it is not jailbroken. In short, its iOS was never modified to install Apps other than those sold via App Store; free or priced.
To delete Apps bought from App Store: Press its icon till such time black cross appears at the top left corner. Tap on the cross. Done.

Intresting Suggestions to improve the Time of replies

I thought of suggesting to add simple funcitionality which will increase the ratio of replies.
1) When I see a list of threads in ABAP forum ...I open a thread which is intresting to me.
when I click that thread ..I can see the answers below that eX: almost 10 replies...I would like to add my answer too...
So again I NEED TO click reply button and then only the editor will come....
when I open thread on the down Why dont we added a editor thread there???
I t will defintely decrease time , increase replies tooo....

Its easy if you have technology provide check box to that so people know which one you are replying...Or else...
Mention name its more easy to say .....
You see you people are working in a high speed net ..where each page will come as flash ...I dont think every one has the same speed of net...
Some times it will take few minutes for me to load each page.....So I although people like to reply they will feel lazy to answer those...
