A WAY TO CHANGE THE BURN SPEED????

Hi,
I posted a similar question before, but didnt get a definative answer... I'll ask it in a more concise way. Is there a way to change the burn speed in DVD SP2? I didn't see any settings relating to that.
Thanks,
Lisa

There is a work around. In DVD Pro, "format" with the output device set to disc and the format to ".img". When this is finished, open Disk Utility and "convert" the .img file to a CD/DVD master (.cdr). This file can then be used to burn to a blank DVD. If you click the options arrow in the burn dialog before beginning the burn, you can select a speed other than "maximum". Not elegant, but it works. My HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4165B DVD drive only succeeds at burning at its maximum rate about 1/3 of the time. However, at 12X it has been quite reliable.

I don't see any options in Disk Utility.

P.S. Since I am burning coasters lately with the Pioneer DVR-111D, I though that I might solve the problem by using a lower write speed.

I dn't believe so with Disk Utility although you can with Roxio Toast Titanium. I would try another media brand, like Verbatim, as a first step and see if the coaster problem goes away.

Has the option for changing the burning speed been taken away in the most recent version of iTunes. I thought this used to be an option under iTunes/Preferences, but I can't seem to find it. Any information about this would be appreciated.

  • Can I change the burn speed in compressor 4

First time trying to burn a 12 minute DVD from Compressor. I got an error that says use a different brand DVD (i have used memorex dvd's before with no problem) or burn at a slower speed. How do I adjust the burn speed?

Well, given that you can write an img, I'd guess the most likely culprits to be the media (hopefully) or the optical drive. Easiest step is to try a different brand. Bad batches are occasionally manufactured. FWIW, I am a long-time user of Verbatim and have rarely had a problem.
So try another brand and see whether it will burn from the disk image.
If it does not, try a short section of a different movie. And if that failed, it would point strongly toward the drive.
    Good luck.

  • Is there a way to change disc burn speed

Having trouble with pixelating images with video, not during transitions. Recommended to turn down burn speed. I'm importing from Final Cut Express and I have IDVD 4.0.1.
    Any suggestions?

I'm not sure it can be done in iDVD but I use the workaround which allows you to burn the DVD to hard disc and create the disc afterwards, known as Easter Egg or "Hurz and Pfurz" on
    http://homepage.mac.com/geerlingguy/macsupport/mac_help/pages/15-burn_idvdother.html
Once you get this installed you can make DVD images which you can play using the DVD player in the applications folder and burn using Disc Utility.
You make your DVD by copying the image using Disc Utility, full instructions on
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42724
but you just use the second half to burn the DVD. This means you can readily produce multiple copies. Disk utility has an option, just before burning, to overwrite the maximum burn speed. However, whatever discs I use, they are all rated 4X, but the utility only offers 1X, which is fine.

  • How do you change the burn speed when making a CD?

I have tried burning my iTunes purchases onto a CD, and when I try to play them back on my CD player, nothing happens. It will play back in iTunes on the Mac, but not on my CD player or in my car.
I suspect it has to do with the speed at which they burn, but I have no idea how to change that?

  • Is there a way to change the settings to burn onto a DVD-R v2.1/1x-16x?

I have DVD SP v3 and I always used Sony DVD-R v2.0/1x-8x (120min/4.7gb), but now I can't find them and I've been told that they have been discontinued and can only buy DVD-R v2.1/1x-16x. Well... I can't seem to find a way to burn onto the higher speed DVD. What can I do?

    Hi:
    Wellcome to the forums!
If you mean if there is a way to change burning speed in DVDSP the answer is no: DVDSP allways burn at max available speed.
If you ant to control the burning speed and use a more reliable burning workflow, you can * Create a Disc Image in DVDSP * from your project and burn it using Toast and/or Disk Utility. In both cases you can change the burning speed.
    Hope that helps !

  • Changeing your burning speed

I have had a few people tell me that if my dvd's are not playing on another dvd player to change the burning speed down to 1x or 2x how do you change your burning speed on idvd, I know this is a simple question for someone. I'm using a g-5 dual and fuji silver label dvd's. thanks

thanks everyone I may just have to make a master copy and then burn it on toast because thats the only way I have found to change the burn speed and I am really getting tired of hearing clients tell me they can't play the dvd on there machine or laptop

  • I'm on FCPX 10.1.1.  Is there a way to change the speed of a keyframe effect?  I have still images zooming onto the storyline, but I can't find any way to speed up or slow down the zoom time.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a way to change the speed of a keyframe zoom effect on still photos?  Clip duration doesn't seem to change the zoom speed at all.  Any help would be greatly appreciated

Open the video animation (Control-v). In transform>All click and drag the X and Y keyframes (which should be together) – left to speed up the scale change and right to slow it down . It may take a little practice to get this to work (I seldom get it right the first try).
You could do this individually for each clip, or you wanted to adjust multiple clips you can copy and paste attributes to your other other clips.

  • Best way to change the speed of a sequence of linked short clips?

I have a sequenced project of about 150 short 1 second clips linked together via a crossfade transition... I would like to make the timelapse faster. What is the best way to change the speed of the sequence or the clips themselves? I would rather change the sequence for it would be less labor intensive I would imagine!!
    Thanks
    RD

Or...select all the clips in the timeline, control-click (or right-click) on them and select 'Duration'. Change the duration to whatever will fit/fill the timespan you need, then hit OK.
If you're needing to change the dissolve as well, you should remove all but one of them first, then drag the remaining transition into the browser. Dbl-click it into the viewer, set the duration of what you want, then use the hand icon at top right and drag it back into the browser. Rename it relevent to it's new duration, then control-click on it and select "Make Default".
Now, set an inpoint at the first frame of your clips in the timeline, then drag all the shortened clips from the timeline into the canvas and release where it says 'Overwrite with Transition'.
That's another way to accomplish this.

  • Is there a way to change the true resolution rather than scaling?

    Hi,
I have searched through just about every single forum, website and search engine there is and haven't found anything. Perhaps I am phrasing my question wrong. I currently own a Macbook Pro 13.3'' Retina (Of Mid-2014 since I just bought it?) and I can't figure out how to change the resolution. The OS seems to default to 2560x1600 no matter what I set it to because I think all its changing is the scaling. Is there a way to do this? I used to own a Macbook Air 13.3'' which ran 1440x900 and I know that it was pixelated. On the same size display here...when I run the claimed "1440x900" its still ultra sharp which means its using scaling I assume. Any ideas how do I change the actual resolution, not just the scaling. The OSX settings currently seem to be just the equivalent of modifying the DPI like you can in Windows. I want to find out if there is a way to change the actual output resolution.

The MacBook Pro like all laptops has an LCD screen. Like all LCD screens the screen has a single physical resolution, in the case of your MacBook Pro Retina 13.3" it is 2560x1600 pixels. This is the number is dots the screen is physically made of.
In the old days when desktop computers used CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) displays which looked like TVs these sort of displays could display multiple resolutions in fact CRTs have no single fixed physical resolution. However LCDs which use totally different technology do only have a single 'real' resolution.
If your really interested in how a CRT can do different resolutions then the answer is that a CRT uses an electron beam to excite the phosphor display on the front of the display (to make it glow), it scans from left to right, moves down a line and then does the next line, and so on till it reaches the bottom and then goes back to the top. The speed (rate) at which it does this is known as the horizontal frequency and the vertical (refresh) frequency or rate. If the horizontal line is drawn specific time and that is divided in to 640 units, then it can be told to turn off and on 640 times per line, if the same line is drawn in the same time but the interval is divided in to 1024 then it can 'draw' 1024 horizontal pixels instead of 640 horizontal pixels. In actuality the display has no physical pixel you are merely lighting up small or larger areas on the screen and hence a CRT has no single fixed resolution.
In order for a computer using an LCD display to use a different apparent resolution it has to 'scale' the image to a different size, as a very simple example if we wanted to scale down to 1280x800 pixels which is exactly half 2560x1600 then the computer would use 2x2 (four) physical pixels to represent a single scaled pixel. Often however the chosen scaled resolution may not be an exact multiple like that example. Apple on the Retina display have provided some suggested scaled resolutions which work reasonably well these being 1680 by 1050, 1440 by 900, and 1024 by 640 pixels.
None of these will look as good as 2560x1600 because the screen physically is made up of 2560x1600 dots and no amount of cheating will change that.

  • Is there a way to change the duration of a group of selected clips all at once?

    Hi all,
I'm working with good old Premiere 6 on Windows 7.
Is there a way to change the duration of a group of selected clips all at once?  If I have a large group of clips in my timeline that are all the same duration, once I've selected them all in a group, can I somehow change the frame number duration of all the clips at the same time?
I've found other things that can be done to a group of clips at the same time, but I can't find a way to change the duration of a group of selected clips.
    Thanks,
    digi

    Thanks Jim and Bill,
In my efforts to work around the problems with the distortion and horizontal interlace lines that come when using the Motion Settings, I'm doing stop frame animation with hundreds and hundreds of layers in PSDs in multiple files placed in hundreds of one, four and six frame sections in Premiere, so if I find that I need to change the number of frames per clip in hundreds of consecutive clips (not actual duration of speed changes), then I need to pull out the right side of hundreds of frames after first moving them apart enough to allow for changing them if I'm making them longer.
These animations are different from the rotating reel animations in that they are for laterally moving subjects that are long streams of moving graphics and photos.
I read about "clip nesting", but I think that only applies to clips or groups of clips that are the same, whereas my clips are each from different imported layers times 125 or so, consecutively placed one after another to create the laterally moving stop frame animation.
Now I've tried johnbmx4christ's alternate method of creating rotations that was just posted on the other thread about the rotation distortion, but that method results in the same oblong distortion and messed up looking horizontal interlace lines.
    What a can of worms.
    Thanks,
    digi

  • Is there a way to change the image numbers in a file in Aperture?

Is there a way to change the image numbers in a file in Aperture? We shoot with two photographers and so the img numbers are not in order but I would like to have the photos in chronological order on the disc when I give it to them. Does anyone know how to do this? I have them all in order ready to go in Aperture but when I move them to the disc to be burned they default back to the img number order. Thanks for your help!

What do you mean by "image number"? The file names like "IMG_7822.CR2" or "IMG_7822.jpg"?
You can create custom names with appended numbers, when you export your image files to be saved on a disk.
Sort your images by date in the browser, select them, then use the command "File > Export > Version" to write the files to the disk. Set the name format to "Custem Name with Index" or "Custom Name with Counter" to create numbered names in your current sort order.

Wow, one interface change in iCal and you Mac world falls apart? I have not even noticed the change to it over the other great features included in Lion. Not a hiccup, increased stability and speed on all my Macs, Loving Mission Control, iCloud is a great selling point and Mountain Lion, due out later in the year will yet again change the face of Computing forever. Windows is following along the same path, struggling to keep up (yes I run Windows as well - trecherous isn't it!), but yet we are all doomed because a handful of people don't like the leather bound look of Address Book which will probably change again in ML if a hack isn't written in the meantime. Petty arguement here. Just give feedback to Apple, I am sure it is on the top of their agenda.

  • How do I lower the burn speed?

Using strictly the apple Disc utility, how do I control the burn speed?

I just went through this this week as I'm new to iDVD. When you're in Disk Utility and go to burn it, there is a drop down next to the drive that the disk is in. I think it lists the drive, I'm not in front of my Mac now. Click on that, and you will then see the option to change the drive speed.
I just did this for the first time last night and am finally getting clean DVD burns. Before I just let iDVD do the whole thing from render to burn and the playback kept hanging up on the DVD player. Going at 1x's seems to have corrected it for me.
