A web site has been downloaded without my permission and is the site which my computer opens onto and hard to exit. How can I remove this for good?

Web site IMUV downloaded by grandson. The site opens up at the beginning of each session when computer is started. It is an annoyance and inconvenience to exit the program and I have been unsuccessful in deleting it at all. I would like to open up with either the Yahoo main page.
Can you help me fix this asap.

My macbook pro with OS 10.6.7 'mail' program does not send my mail through the IPS wireless, I am connected to. The message is my 'e-mail is rejected by the server'. It has been working until 5 days ago. The connection doctor says I am connected and no log in required.
After trying lots I found now in 'Airport Utility is 'unable to detect any airport wireless devises.....'
There is no provider to be seen in airport utility and only 'rescan' is an option with no results...
even so I am connected and can browse the net receive mail etc. and the outgoing 'mail server' is set to the internet provider I am connected to.
Can you enlighten me what can I do I need to use my e-mail program urgently !!!

I'm not sure what "IPS wireless" is, but unless you have an Apple Wi-Fi base station (such as a Time Capsule, AirPort Extreme, or AirPort Express), AirPort Utility won't see anything.
You might try defining a new SMTP server to see if that will work any better.
By the way, the subject field for these messages isn't intended to hold a lot of text. Put a short description of your problem in the subject field and save the rest of your message for the body field.

Although there is not a way to remove past purchases from your iTunes account completely, you can hide them so that you don't have to see them if you don't want to. This article will help you do that:
iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support
Hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking Music, Movies, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from the top of the window.
A list of your purchased items for the content type you are viewing will appear. Mouse over the item you want to hide until an X appears its top-left corner.
A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the X.

Duplicate your book and try to change the theme in the copy. Chnaging the theme may change the layout of your text fileds. That is why you need the copy to be able to compare the pages before and after.
Ctrl-click the book in the Source list and select "Duplicate".
Click the "Change Theme" button in the upper right corner of the Book pane, make sure, you have the same theme selected and the same size. Click Hardcover.

Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

Do you see the problem if you turn off Compatibility Mode for QuickTime?
Right-click on the QuickTimePlayer application (located in C:\Program Files\QuickTime) and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
In the Properties window, click the Compatibility tab
Deselect all checkboxes currently selected in the Compatibility tab.
Click Apply.
Close the Properties window.

To sign out of what ever Apple ID is signed in, go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and then tap the Apple ID and you will see an option to sign out.

I think my iPhone has been accessed without my permission. How do I know for sure.?

I have been having issues in my laptops for weeks. They are blatantly being accessed remotely and now it seems like they've gotten into my phone. Just because my wireless network is changing without my permission and my data logs show that programs and apps are being accessed when I haven't accessed them. Does iPhone run through apps daily even if they're not installed? Also . I saw video.toolbox which I understand(correct me if I'm wrong) is used on jailbroken phones. I don't have anything incriminating to hide on my phone or otherwise. But the invasion of privacy is sickening. Also. What about my passwords and financial info??? Please help me block this user and keep my info safe. Unless of course I'm being paranoid because of my laptop.

Some web sites require you to type words presented in a strange form (Captcha?). The 'Captcha' does not always show up on my screen. How can I fix this?

I do not know how to make this any more clear. The strange, 'squiggly' words are meant to protect a web site from computerized log ins (I think). If the words are interpreted and entered correctly, you can log in successfully. But since the strangely formed words do not show up on my screen, I cannot continue the process. This does not occur all the time, on some sites the strangely formed words show up, and I can continue the process. Is this a problem with Firefox, my computer, or the web site I am trying to log into?

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"

Connect the iPod to your computer and look at the storage used by the various categories as shown in the colored bargarph in iTunes.
Come back with the results.

I had to wipe my old hard drive unexpectedly, and have been trying to recover the bookmarks on my sync account on a fresh PC. How can I do this?

Same laptop, new hard drive. I know the bookmarks are out there on a cloud, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to put them back on a PC

Did you save the Sync key of that Sync account before you wiped that drive?
The Sync key is used to encrypt the data locally before it is send to the sync server and without that key your data is lost and can't be recovered. 
If you have the sync key then you can set up Sync to use the old account with your email address and password that was used to create it. 
If you lost your password then a new password can be send to your email address, but your sync key is not stored on the sync server, so can't be recovered.

I have somehow associated an email link (.swf) with playerx and now cannot open it. How can I remove this link so that the file automatically opens as it has done previously?

I received an email with a hyperlink that runs a .swf file. I also recently downloaded PlayerX so decided to us it to open the .swf file. It was unable to do so. When trying to play this file I receive options of "Open in ..." or "Open in PlayerX". I try to select "Open in ..." however nothing is available to select. I need to remove this association. I have restarted the phone, resent the email from its original location but this association seems to have stuck. Can anyone help out with this. I would prefer to not have to delete the App and re-download it.

Jeff, many thanks for the reply. More than Adobe Chat did for me, Problem sorted this morning with telephone support. Complete mix up between 2 accounts I have and Trial copy. Appreciate your help thanks. Have now got a fully operative CC with my LR integrated, concerned as had purchased some years ago and didn't want to miss out on updates by having a separate copy.
